I am archiving this cache since there's been no response from nor action by the cache owner within the time frame requested in a prior reviewer note.
Hi bumandworkerThis geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived. Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.RegardsTheCoddiwompler
No luck today.
Found a lonely pole. No sign of a cache today.
Next time.......

Pole still there, fences not there, couldn't find the cache. No idea, went around at GZ (kinda featureless and covered in well grown weeds) then checked on the pole again but no dice. Cheers
Bit of a windy day. Thought I’d get this walking up the Taylor was bit further off the track than I thought.
Still stuck in Blenheim so trying to make the most of it. Hired a bike so that I could go a bit further out of town and collect some more caches. Headed further down the Taylor river reserve. Such a great trail to cycle. A very lone pole and a rather lonely cache. Thanks
A quick easy walk up over the open toxic waste land. I would hate to think what sort of stuff is under this ground. This time, unlike a few months ago, it was an instant find, of the brand new container and log. Had a quick look at the "What'l work" one but couldn't see anything obvious. Next time.
Paolob72 appears to have signed the log before me but hasn’t logged on here yet, found on the same day! I wonder how much earlier they were...

Cache check carried out. GZ found to be 17m due north of the 'Lone Pole', a quick search of the bulldozed area failed to turn up anything. The 'Lone Pole' was then checked as per the CO's directions and also nothing discovered. A pre-prepared replacement cache was then placed at a place advised to the CO. How he decides to describe the hide is up to him.
All good to go now and no need to archive.

Hi
It appears that this cache has been inactive for quite some time. Is it going to be replaced or should it be archived to make room for possible future caches? If the cache owner does not contact me within Three Weeks, I'll assume the cache needs to be archived.
While I feel that Geocaching.com should hold the location for you and block other cachers from entering the area around this cache for a reasonable amount of time, we can't do so forever. Please either repair/replace this cache, or archive it so that someone else can place a cache in the area, and geocachers can once again enjoy visiting this location. Also, if you haven’t done so already, please pick up any remaining cache bits as soon as possible.
I want to thank you for the time that you have taken to contribute to geocaching in the past and am looking forward to seeing your cache up and running in the future.
Thanks for your understanding,
Regards,

The lone pole itself is still there in the open but with a couple of DNFs and no successful find since 2016 and none since a co-ordinate change in 2017, this one might need archiving. There has been heavy land development in the last few years on this wasteland.
This geocacher reported that this geocache should be archived. A community volunteer reviewer has been notified.

Found the pole but recent earthworks may have disturbed cache, nice views though.
Inspired to visit this location after our fire training exercise on Monday night.
We came here in the dark with for orienteering, and the old landfill site looked a lot different!
Had little idea that this site existed, not to mention how easy it is to access.

Of course we headed to the obvious feature before checking the coords and finding another spot. QEF thanks for the cache.
Although the forecast wasn't that great we decided to head Marlborough way again today to grab a few more caches. We haven't cached in this area for some time so concentrated on this side of town today although intermittant and sometimes heavier showers meant we didn't wander too far from the car.
Because the rain was fairly steady when we reached the Lone Pole we didn't bother looking at the GPS initially but soon realised our mistake. (We are currently using Tablets and phones while the Garmin is in dry dock and they are not waterproof).
Thank you bumandworker.

Thank you bumandworker.
False sense of security with D1 and ample precipitation got us looking where the cache wasn't. A check revealed we were close but not at GZ. All good after realising that. Thank you bumandworker
Out and about with Kiwimykl attempting to clear as many of the local caches that I can. KM has most of these already which gives me an advantage but I didn't need his help for a QEF tonight.

Spotted the pole easy enough, then to find the cache... not too far away. Quite nice up on this plateau of stones. Tftc!
Biking up to Taylor Dam, thought it would be rude not to do this one on the way. TFTC
Lots of conjecture about what one lone pole was doing here. The best theory I came up with was that there was a work crew charged with removing them. 4:30 came along - - - or 4 o'clock, whatever time these crews head back to base - - - they headed back to base and never quite got around to returning. Well that might or might not be true but the feature makes a most excellent reason for a cache and I'm so pleased you took up the challenge. Thanks !
I finished up my evening walk with the geo Huskies turning around here. Back to the car now. No trouble with this one today, just a little way from the lone pole. There were some muggles and muggle dogs walking past as I approached, but they soon disappeared. I never knew this area was here, interesting to see the Lions Club firewood area just down the hill as well - they cut a lot of firewood for pensioners, and also sell small amounts as fundraising. I DNF'd this a while ago and mentioned it to the CO when we met up for a couple of joint FTFs u Mt Altimarloch. He said he would look at it next time he got the chance. So when he listed a new cache earlier this month in the immediate vicinity, I figured he would have sorted this one out too.
I managed the FTF on that cache, but as it was raining that morning, I decided to wait until the weather was a bit better to go after this one again. Today was another clean up around the section day and I had to make a couple of trips to the Green Waste Facility nearby. On the first trip I didn't bring my phone or GPS so couldn't try for it, but I made sure the phone was with me on the second trip.
I was a bit confused as I approached GZ as it was pointing me directly at the last hiding place and I was sure the CO had shifted it. Then I remembered to hit the 'Refresh' button on c:geo and everything was soon sorted.
I see this is my 599th find, will I save my 600th for a special cache?... probably not.

Yay a geo weekend away with my buddy Nosynel where we join forces and cache as NosyBear. Followed the trail along the river on a very lovely sunny day. Thanks for the caches Blenheim
Finally a fine weekend. Off on a campervan trip with my caching pal Bbear.
Off to the supermarket. Time for some Park and Grabs. We had our lunch at Withers Hills. 2 dnfs equals two grumpy geocachers. We headed back to the campervan. Another dnf.
This one was our second find after lunch. The fourth along this walkway. This one was spot on. Our grumps were almost gone.

Sorry for the late log, but I see someone else also hasn't found this cache (which is supposed to be so easy to find) as well. I usually give caches two attempts before logging a DNF, and usually wait to see if someone finds it in the meantime, but I'll make an exception in this case. I'm pretty sure it isn't there. But I have been known to be wrong (e.g Dry Hills).
#9388. I made hard work of getting to GZ. The steep-sided ditch looked tricky to cross and in the end I opted not to try, and headed downstream in the direction Troodles disappeared in some time before. Eventually I found the same crossing point, and before long was at GZ. TFTC.
The hardest part to this cache was making it to GZ. As we were heading down stream we discovered we'd need to bear right towards it. but discovered a water filled gully between us and our prize. StreetWalker carried on, looking for somewhere to cross, while I headed downstream looking for a path. I soon found what I was looking for and after a little detour, was heading for an obvious hiding hiding spot.
No sign of SW, so did the paperwork and waited .... and waited.
In the end he turned up, from the same direction I had come from as he soon discovered he couldn't cross the barrier and needed to take the same route as me.
Heaps of tracks around here, now what do we take to get back on track to the car? TFTC.

[green] Spent the day in the Wither Hills on a bike I borrowed from the base as there is no way my road bike would have coped with these trails. Man it was hot. I ran out of water and aborted the trip - there is drinkable water along the route, but the ones at the top had run dry. So anyway I have finished the upper section and am now winding my way along these wonderful river flats.
This was a land fill? When I got here I was thinking this was an emergency landing strip! It's not just the lone pole that's odd. What about these other poles (see photo)? Natural accumulation from flood events?

Interesting (lonely) spot. I was determined to leave on a different route than from which I arrived. Not the wisest of moves. The first choice looked too wet. The second choice looked too scratchy. The third choice was purrfect.

Partner found this one quite easily while I continued cycling down the wrong track! TFTC
OK, no idea why this lonely pole is here, but it was a good guide to the cache. TFTC
Found a nice easy paved access so a pleasant wander to the obvious feature before heading home. TFTC #5271
Find #172 for the BAMMJams - the min-BammJams didn't seem very tired this evening, so we thought we'd head out for some Friday summer-evening caching. Easy find - TFTC
Finding it amazing to go to places we never new we could, just new at this, first day. TFTC.
Introducing our cousins to Geocaching while walking their family dog. Miss Eleven & Uncle located this one. I think they may be catching the bug

What a random bit of land! Wasn't quite sure which way to approach this one, but got it in the end
What an usual walk in this new area.An easy find when you find the correct pathway. TFTC
A bit of a scramble to grab this one, found by the geo kids of the party - TFTC!
Not sure the developers will be clamoring for this site as old land fills cn be very difficult to develop due to uneven compaction and bio degrading waste. Quickly found the cache and got back on the bike. Thanks for the cache.
Found on our xmas trip to Taranaki.
Day 1, Christchurch to Blenheim.
took my mother in law out caching this evening ... We investigated this but Mr Google was no help. Decided to try for another, and from there thought that if we continued we might gain access to this. When I left the path my mother in law decided to stay on the path, but the cache was further away than we thought, so when I didn't return she came looking for me ... All was well, cache found, signed and a headed back. But, just 1m from the walking track she slipped and fell against a left over piece of something substantially metal. Great gouge in her leg. Whipped off my t-shirt to pad the wound and stop the bleeding, called ambulance (and ended up talking to Christchurch!) Headed back down track to meet ambulance, meet couple of dog walkers (remember I'm no longer wearing a t-shirt!). One went back to meet ambulance and Leon went on to sit with my mother in law. Ambulance managed to drive right to accident site, and they dropped me of at the car. Luckily I had not taken my bag out of the car so was able to put on another t-shirt before following the ambulance to the hospital. Half a paddock of grass, including seeds, were removed from her leg, it was steri-striped together and we make it home some 2 hours after finding the cache.
Mother in law is fine and surprisingly still happy to come caching again.
Must find out what datum our emergency services use as the ambulance was initially sent to withers park farm!
What an evening!

Mrs SoBad and her muggle mate spotted an efficient (T2 ish) way in and found no problems getting to the obvious to find the D1 cache.
The problems came when we tried to access another cache from here. After we were looking at T3.5 ish and hearing dogs - discretion prevailed and we retraced out footsteps. Later we found what we needed - which is useful for the next trip to Blenheim.
Thanks for this cache today though.

It probably would have helped if I had some local knowledge here. I travelled cross-country direct from the MTB park! I wonder what the council have planned for this real estate? Find number 15 (and last) on today's 31km cyclocache tour of Blenheim. Thanks for the cache and the ride excuse, I loved it. Cheers.
Couldn't miss it if i tried, spotted pole from 150m away i remember coming here with dad soo often, TFTC.
Yup Lone Pole is a very good name, not much else up there... TFTC Blenheim Bear
Approaching this one from the south we needed to cross the creek, we kept going down the bank and finding we couldn;t cross the bog, only to find that we could walk around it by going another 100m or so.
The direct aproach is obviously not the easiest. Once I was out of the wilderness area I could see the obvious structure and soon had the cache in hand. Thanks
This was so funny - I totally mis-read the title and wondered why I couldn't find a Pine tree anywhere around!! When I checked listing again it was so obvious - Lone Pole NOT Lone Pine. SL TFTC
Finding the cache wasn't hard at all. Finding a quick way to the cache was a little harder. Decided to head back to the car and move it along before finding the next cache. TFTC, Biggles.
Found on an afternoon bike ride with the brother. Beautiful day. Went round in circles to ride all the way there.
Quick walk in till the subject became so obvious!!! Then a fast find'n'sign - and away.TFTC.
Hot day, did a bit of a river crossing & bush bash the hard way from paintball cache for a bit of excitement for the kids. Nice & easy find. TFTC!
Took a direct approach up the bank to save some which wasn't too difficult but did have the result of loading my socks up with grass seed. Took a more conventional track out to the car. TFTC
Easy find as my guardian, a harrier hawk marked the spot, once i got up there.
Cache found exposed and open.
Contents - log sheet, pencil rehid where it looked like living.

A quick find on a walk along the Taylor River this morning. Not sure what the function of the pole may have been but it certainly stands alone! Signed log, TFTC.
