Since I started caching, I've never made the time nor opportunity to look for the hides at Riwaka Resurgence. So, on my last full weekend in the area, I planned a trip there, Marahau, Kaiteriteri, and Mot for a cache grab.
Caching life was not a picnic here for me this afternoon.

I found an elevated spot with some camo, but to cx. After a thorough cavity search, I happen to glance at the ground where the cx was laying. After signing, I put it in the higher spot to keep it safe in the event of high water. TFTC.
It's definitely gumboot weather out here and was a quick find. I cleaned the cache container before signing the log and put it back where it was hiding. The river is in flood and this area is really wet. I was surprised to see a camper van staying near the river. Thanks bumandworker.
Second find today that had escaped its hiding spot and was making a bit for freedom. Put it back in place with a couple of rocks. Lovely campsite. No sandflies so far
A nice quick find thanks.
Found on a showery day around Motueka. We stayed mostly dry, but the coats certainly got a bit wet!
Thanks to all CO's for publishing and maintaining their caches. Cheers.

My first cache since lockdown finished. Had the night here. Unfortunately spent quite a long time at the resurgence looking for caches but the signage is mostly gone. Got some excachers back into it. TFTC
Found only this one during a short stop here, went to the river and then to the cache.
This is a nice spot to camp for a night unfortunately only for self-contained.
Sunny autumn days are just great! Finding a Geocache on a sunny autumn day makes it perfect

A few people camping in the area before the site is shut for the end of the season and there were a few cyclists in the area but while we avoided being detected by any of those parties a local weka was either showing us where the cache was or telling us we'd been muggled. Neiter of us understood weka, once pointed out it was an easy find and all in good order. T b&w FTC
Stayed the night at the campground. In the evening I found the cache without any muggles in the vicinity. TFTC!
Staying here in motorhome with family from Holland. Went for evening walk to find some caches. Thanks for the cache bumandworker.
Lots of freedom campers here. But not too close to this cache. Got this one tagged. Cheers.
Its Labour Weekend so Zara, Toby and I are off to explore Tasman for a few days. Its Sunday, Zara is resting up in Motueka, while Toby and I are heading back to Kaiteriteri to explore some more.

As we were Freedom Camping at the W J Moss Picnic Area, this was a quick find. Found the container lying around on the floor. Tried to place it back to the spot which we assumed was the original hiding spot but it seems to be very unstable. It's possible that it will fall down again. TFTC!
Found with Ulmuslynx
Arrived at GZ and it wasn’t long before the cache was spotted on the ground. Placed the cache where we thought it should be
Thank you bumandworker for the cache

Drive with the family to Riwaka and a few caches. Another stop and another cache soon found. Tftc
After visiting the near by reserve, we stopped here for a picnic. The kids played with dad at the river, while I went on a wee geomission. Lost my pen earlier today, so photolog instead. Thanks for placing this.
We stay here overnight on this campingground and before cooking we have time for a walk and we are very happy to see that here are some Caches to find. After searching a while we found it and write our name in the logbook. Thanks a lot
Nice Q E F on the way back out the valley road after a first visit to the resurgence for mrs capperz.

The day after the main event and seems I still haven't had my fill of caches, especially in a relatively cache-rich area. I was up with the birds at first light, pretty much, and out the door nice and early to try and find Marahau Footbridge, Open Seacret and make the most of a low level of water to check out split apple rock and Marahau Marble ECs. Headed back over the hill the slow way, stopping for coffee, Cornish pasties, real fruit Ice cream and a few Multis and Unknown caches where I had already gathered the final co-ordinates. Managed to get another couple of sets of numbers for future Multi- cache targets too.
Back home after a reasonable drive back and another nice round figure of finds, 20 for the day to add to 20 yesterday and 10 on Thursday so a rounded 50 for the 3 days, I like that.
This weekend is a four day weekend for us, Thursday and Friday on leave as we're going away for a couple of nights to Marahau for mrs capperz's birthday, walk the first part of the Abel Tasman walkway and visit out fellow quiz-team cohorts in their new house. The weather all week had been interesting and yesterday brought on torrential rain and storms for many regions, which continued through the night. The forecast was for clearing conditions and a great day for Friday, which fitted in with our walking plans. On Saturday we visited the split apple rock, marble quarry and came back via Riwaka resurgence, Ruby Bay and 'some' caches - of course.

On a week's walking and caching holiday with trifolia argentea we aimed for 100 caches. Thanks to all cache owners.
On my way back down from the resurgence to pick up a few more caches.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
One seemingly unoccupied camper van was no worries here whilst retrieving the cache. A quick find was made and we were soon heading off for the next one.
During our NZ trip, we stayed on the site nearby for one night - a beautiful place! During a little morning walk, this cache was easily found.

My youngest son had returned from his four day coastal tramp, everyone was too hot and bothered to do anything. So off I went on my final caching spree in this area. What a pleasant road to drive down.
along with fiona84 month on a 2 journey through new zealand and australia. on the journey we passed through the cache to beautiful places and were also some very old caches log. many thanks for cherish and maintain the caches.
Together with schrek77 I traveled two months through New Zealand and Australia . First we traveled with a camper for 6 weeks the North and South Island of New Zealand . Then we went to Melbourne where we visited the city and the surrounding area . then we went to closing in the north of Australia . During this time we visited several geocaches and were brought to very nice places through this partially . We also had the opportunity to visit some very old caches , which extremely pleased us . We wish to thank Owner for nurture and cherish the caches .
We wondered if the cache may have been washed away in the floods, but no need to worry. Found the cache then we stopped in here for lunch at the picnic table in the sun, nice spot tftc
Found while camped in our certified self contained motor home at this great spot. TFTC
We came down here to look at the resurgence and picked up this cache whilst passing. TFTC.
I haven't been up this way for a while. It was good to return for another look around. Found it in the obvious spot. TFTC
A nice quick find during a break in the storm . Lucky i had shorts on otherwise my pants would had been soaked by the wet long grass. Cheers
An easy find after relieving my bladder. Thanks for adding that attribute or we probably wouldve bypassed this for the Resurgence. Thanks for the cache
A nice walk on a sunny morning in the bush, guessed it would be there , a quick find. TFTC
Found it while looking for cache sites for the 'National Geocaching Challenge - Conservation Week 2015'.

Thanks for the cache.
It was a very warm day, so we parked in some shade close to GZ. There were a few camper vans parked nearer the river but we were well away from them. Looks like a nice spot for a restful holiday.
GPSr signal was a little wavering and we first started searching in the wrong place, but soon the GPSr lead StreetWalker to the right place and the cache. TFTC.

#9044. The GPSr seemed to be struggling a bit in the valley. Eventually it lead me back towards the car, and that is where the cache was lurking. TFTC.
We have never been in here before,a nice spot to come for a Drive. No one about so it was a quick find.TFTC
missed this one the way in but grabbed on the way back, GPS just love the hills
[green] Dad and the pumpkin took me out to visit the resurgence, mainly for the earth cache there. Stopped off here - Dad for the loo, me to go for a run in the woods. GPS had trouble here, it refused to settle down (it is quite cloudy above) but I eventually found the treasure. Now for the rest of the run, on to the Riwaka River Walking (Running!) Track cache...

Nice one. We found it quickly with a good hint. What a lot of work they have put into this area with all the new plantings.
Stopped by on our way up to the resurgence to grab this one. Took a while until i read through old logs and discovered the hint item is now laying down! Veerrry cold up here today, the little creek was even frozen over!! Thanks for bringing us here, TFTC
Had a bit of time to spare so dropped in here on the way back to Motueka from Takaka this afternoon. Found the cache after a short search, the hint object has been rotated by 90 degrees from how I imagine it was when the cache was placed. After reading previous logs just now I realise why the cache is now where it is. All is still in good condition. Signed log, TFTC
On holiday with family, out seeing the sites and visiting caches.
Thanks for bring us out here.
Thanks for bring us out here.
TFTC. Another great spot I never would have been to otherwise. No 36 on the journey to the 75 caches required in a month for the MGSC Challenge.

Easily found on a day out caching in the region with Waiiti20. W20 had found it but the issue was trying to retrieve, as the tree had fallen over. Some leverage by Mr EU allowed W20 to extract. Nice area in here. TFTC
This one proved to be a lot of fun, found with Emvy_us. The hide item at GZ had fallen over squashing the container inside, undamaged. A team effort to un-prise the tree allowed us to complete the formalities - we left the container on the ground just below the hint location. A very beautiful area, TFTC, #6130
Wow. I'm really happy to report that sometimes when one gets really frustrated, things are actually working out for the best. I spent ages looking for this one last year. It seemed such a small search area but do you think I could find the little @#$&^!!! Well today was rather busy. - - - No time for caching. But we just happened to drive past the end of the road and we just happened to have just enough time to come and look for this cache. Voila!!! There it was. So the streak lasts one more day. One more souvenir to add to the collection. - - - - Yippee!!!!
A quick find on the way back from a jaunt up the Takaka Hill to check out a cafe that has sprung up on the top. A great day for a bit of exploring, TFTC
We were second to find and sign this replacement cache. No trackable in here so perhaps 'the secret' has been washed away with the original cache. TFTC.
We weren't sure what to find with all the flood damage around but there it was: high and dry =) Major replanting seems to be underway in the immediate area. This sure looks like a good spot to take the grandkids to this summer. TFTC

Yep the area is closed - and needs to be to keep cars out while the area recovers. We tip-toed in gently avoiding areas under repair. BUT no sign of the cache .
