Out walking around parts of London to various sites and earthcaches and this was our next stop. As mentioned in the listing, the GPSr didn't like the spot that much and after an initial area didn't produce anything that was required, a bit more searching was done and a better spot located.
Required information was recorded and I sent my e-mail off to the CO. As it turned out, I hadn't looked as closely as I should and my initial information was a little out. However, with patience from the CO and another check of the cache listing, permission to log was granted and all was good.
Another earthcache where I've learnt something....and also a CO that was happy to help to make sure I understood what it was all about, rather than just saying, sorry, that was wrong.
Thanks Unknown Wanderer, appreciate your help in getting this one in the bag. Fav point for the fun......and greetings from Australia.....

Coming here on the way to a business meeting, this was a convenient Cache to go hunting for. We have actually exacavated similar fossils elsewhere, but were satisfied with just identifying them here and receiving a prompt log permission from the owner - thanks for this quick detour!
I always enjoy Earth Caches and it is always fun to find one in the centre of a city. We were taking a walk round St Pauls after attending the Globe theatre earlier - we had a bit of free time before we had to go and visit my parents. We got to GZ and I got a bit fixated on a different feature, but the Specialist Equipment read the cache page properly and he soon identified what we were supposed to be looking for. We have come across these fossils previously although you always worry that the current example is something out of the ordinary for once! Anyway, I took the necessary measurements with my trusty freebie Ikea tape mesure and a photo to remind me in case I needed to look anything up and dispatched an email. Confirmation of the answers was received and I have changed my Write Note log to a Found log. Many thanks for the cache!

Today has been my first experience of London Earthcaches and there are so many of them in obscure places. Thanks for bringing me here, TFTC
Early in June, I spotted that I could do a return Ryanair flight to Gatwick and an overnight stay in Brentford for less than €100. And thus a trip to London was born! I've been to the city quite a few times... I have relatives living there, I've been to gigs there, I've done various specific things there... but never really been on a sightseeing trip. It was time to alleviate that and see some relations I hadn't seen for a while.
Day 1 started at 5am; no big deal anymore with my recent rampages, yet once I'd arrived at Gatwick everything started to go wrong. The queue for train tickets was ridiculous and they'd run out of Visitor Oyster Cards, but I did save a lot of money on a combined ticket. Glad for once I was too apathetic to try and buy stuff online. Once in London, the caching went wrong too. I had many, many DNFs... not just on traditionals but on stuff that shouldn't be DNFed... like Virtuals and Earthcaches. And the weather was cat. However, I made the most of it, hitting Jasmer targets and getting a tour of mainline rail stations and the Underground; which interested me in itself. Blackfriars was the start, for a virtual nearby, followed by a few earthcaches near St Pauls and a trip to Paddington for another virtual. I did a few around Marlyebone and Mayfair around lunchtime before going to St James Park and Buckingham Palace for a look-see. There was a cluster of virtuals, multis and traditionals nearby so I tackled these.. DNFing some but still seeing the history attached to them. I took a wander around to Westminister then, seeing tourist spots but also virtual and earthcaches, before heading up to Piccadilly for dinner (Londons best steak in a casino, thank you Tripadvisor). I tried to do another in the area but muggles, rain and exhaustion took over and I got the train to Brentford via Waterloo.... picking off a Sidetracked near the hotel.
Day 2 wasn't really a caching day but I did go via the Thames Path... trying to pick off two caches in the area... one was a genuine DNF and the other I lacked the climbing skills for. However, the main target of the day was London Zoo and although there were no caches there, 401 photos were taken over seven hours. On the way back to Camden station I picked off one cache in a carpark to put the day on the map. Then it was back to Kings Cross and off to Gatwick for my late night flight home. Got in at about midnight and up again at 630am for work!
So two crazy days and although this log shows it up at a pack of DNFs, I did still get 15 finds and got to visit just about all of Londons mainline train stations and plenty of Underground ones; which interested me more than perhaps I should admit. I got some Jasmers, some rare cache types, but most importantly had good fun. Geocaching, this time, was trumped by London Zoo and relatives, but being the only person in the entire tropical bird aviary and making friends with rare birds who came out with the crowds gone home will be the top memory. And all the squirrel monkeys escaped.
Thanks to all the cache owners for the caches!

Easy enough find once the smokers had gone! Odd spot for an earthcache, but it seems to work.

CO confirms correct answer - GPS does mislead a little, but fascinating when in the right place - TFTC!
Took a little while to find, but hint helped. Waited for the smoking muggle to leave before I could get to GZ.
Got a picture if needed.
Tried to be too clever with my answer, but re-reading questions meant I got it right 2nd time round. Thanks!

This rounds up my 7 Souvenirs of August and what a great idea that was. I have done caches and things that I would probably have avoided for a long time to come, only to find that there is more fun to geocaching than traditional caches (which I really enjoy). This one took me a couple of attempts at the answer but got there in the end. tftc
Finding and measuring the fossil was easy in this case. I have a faible for Earthcaches and I am glad that I now managed to visit nearly half of the inner city ones during our family vacation.
Thanks for leading me to this place.

Our visit was at the end of last week but due to a fundamental mistake by me I am logging my approved correct answer today. We were a bit sidetracked by several people staring at the walls a short distance from thhe cache and we thought we'd met several other cachers until we realise they were looking at something totallly different! Spotted the fossil without th he clue-again I would have passed it by without geocaching-thanks.
A great day visiting London bring to us some geocaching to
We loved all the caches that we found in all the strange and beautiful places
The best Regards from Portugal !!!

I needed the hint for this one; the possible search area was just too wide. I was left wondering about the strange cache name, until I spotted a particular photo in the gallery. I was too busy staring at walls to see the big yellow sign!
Thank you for an interesting cache which slowed me down in the middle of a busy day.

After attending a training course nearby I took a detour on the way back to the office, unfortunately I didn't have any measuring devices with me so had to improvise, fortunately that worked and I have received the okay to log.

I found this one the way to a London meet at a location I was interested to see. On reflection I had been close to this location a few times during walks between customers sites. Discovering this cache was easier than working out what creature it was! Great fun to be honest both at the GZ and scratching my head later trying to remember what it looked like, cursing that I should have taken a photo as a memory jogger, got it eventually. TFTC

The 7 Souvenirs of August was a spur to do this one which I had been putting off for a while. Quite surprised that my identification of the fossil was confirmed as correct first time!
Update: After logging my find, the Nature Lover Souvenir appeared on my profile. I am very amused by the description: "The Nature Lover souvenir was designed to pay tribute to the geocachers who prefer dirt paths to sidewalks". I am not sure this particular Earthcache is what the organisers had in mind!

Soon spotted a likely looking fossil and took a photo and did the necessary measurement. Just as I was leaving, I noticed a couple of other similar, but slightly less distinct fossils nearby. A quick look at the hint confirmed that I had found the right one first time. An interesting find, with the bonus of getting a souvenir in the August challenge. TFTC
Having a lovely day in London finding the Book Benches. I love the way geocaching brings you to places you would never normally come and it helps towards our 7 souvenirs. Answer submitted by whh0
Coming from Australia I had no idea what a ITSU was! After examining the walls for a couple minutes I looked up and saw the sign! D'oh! Anyhow it enabled me to get down to business. I still find it fascinating that London building can be full of fossils!
