A late afternoon walk up to the last of this nest of caches. A walk back in the dark, mais c'est caching! A previous log identified the tree for me.

Thought about giving this one a miss after finding the canary cache further back on the track, its a long way to come back for one cache so off I went. Got to GZ, (tracks a bit wet in a couple of places) had a bit of a search and was about to flag it when a friendly fantail started hanging around and landed right at GZ. Spotted container pretty easily then. Weird huh??? TFTC.

We spent the morning participating in a 90 minute mini rogaine near Whitecliffs. Since we were 'close' to here it was a good opportunity to clean up the caches on this walkway. This was the last stop. The cache was found easily, but the top of its tree has come down across the track. From here it was back up to the main track. We continued around the loop to the upper lookout and then back to the car park. All up just over 2 and a half hours return. TFTC.

5052. On a three day geocaching trip around Mid-Canterbury. This was cache number seventeen on the first day. Went down to the river for a much needed drink of water and then searched for ages for the cache. GPS was all over the place and the cache well hidden. It was definitely much higher up than we expected! Pleased to find it after walking so far in the heat of the day. This was much closer to the bridges in the old days when we were younger!!! Thanks, Rodney and Iris.

After descending all the way to the river, knowing we had to go back up, it was a bit of a struggle to find this one, as the coordinates seemed a bit off. Fortunately the cache was readily visible when nearby, although ridders76 is clearly many times taller than we are. Our coordinates were S43 30.301 E171 38.074. The log was wet, so we put in a replacement log in a plastic bag. Then back to the carpark, which took us 1 hr 45 mins, but we did meet several lots of people going in, and spent 24 minutes talking to one interesting lady from Christchurch. TFTC

Nice easy find only a 30m walk.boats can sometimes be handy for these caches. Only 2 more caches to go on the walkway.

Took a few extra minutes to find this cache because my waist is very obviously much lower to the ground than the setter's. Tippy toes were needed. Here with Smoothhound the masochist, who disappointedly for me, didn't seem all that interested in trying to hail the passing downstream bound jet boat for an exhilerating 2 minute ride back to the bridges - I was offering to pay. Instead I had to suffer a 75 minute trudge. Sad

Out caching with BaldEd on a great day in a beaut area. I should have used my intuition more instead of relying on the clues and erratic GPS. Walked right by the hide because the clue wanted me to be much taller. Watched a jet boat go roaring by. Ed particularly enjoyed the walk back Wink

A lovely walk into this cache. TFTC.
Garmin Oregon indicates that the walk is 4.4km.
