Needed some Earth caches to help support thr Cosmic challenge and was in the vicinity, so did some research and submitted answers to the C.O.Thanks for bringing me here.TFTC.
We were out hunting earth caches today as our Master 8 really wants the 100 point cosmic quest badge. We have a book about the volcanoes in Auckland and we have been visiting a few so was fun to tick this one off. Mr KBclan had alot of fun researching which other volcanoes we were looking at from the top. I wonder if there used to be a board up here to show them. We also had alot of fun watching the archers today. They are very skilled. TFTC
We are travelling from Australia and walked the hill after doing a nearby parkrun. Answers sent in.In New Zealand for a couple of weeks catching up with sandyoftheseas family. Finding a few caches along the way.ishoot, I found 91011.5- Owairaka Mt Albert (Auckland) today. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.
Found this one after arriving at the airport heading north in September on our way to Whangarei. Did with Infoferret, Bruzie and BFG . Great views from here. Been here once before but there wasn't a cache here, so was good to be back and enjoy the great weather and views. Thanks for the lesson and cache.
This maunga is well worth a walk up - nice & quiet unlike some of the more popular ones. TFTC, and for providing some awesome info in the description.
Tftc, out with a walking group we got to the top and enjoyed the views from up here.
Decided to take the day off work and take my boys on some Earth Caches for the day. Had a nice walk up to the top of Mt Albert and checking out the views. TFTC
A chilly and windy day (not as forecast!) but we had an attempt seeing as it is International Geocache Day. Answers sent to CO but we had difficulty with agreeing on the answers and the information board has gone (?) Hopefully we are correct! TFTC
Found with PhilBirdBoys on a windy Auckland day to (hopefully) earn the Earth Cache Day badge.
Going through caches in the area when I realised that I have completed this earthcache months ago but haven't yet sent my answers in or logged the cache.
It was a gorgeous day on my visit with great views. This was actually my first time exploring Mt Albert and there weren't too many people walking while I was there. It was a good reason to visit and walk around the volcano.

I was having a bit of a rubbish morning, but knowing that two things I always enjoy are train rides and the view from the top of a mountain, I ventured out in the afternoon to catch the train to Mount Albert. I had a nice walk around looking for the information. It wasn't very busy here and the weather was great, so I enjoyed this one. TFTEC and for making my day a bit better

This is my first visit to Owairaka, I feel I'm really getting to know the maunga of Tamaki-makau-rau. It's cool viewing the city from yet another angle - - 360 degree views - - though some of the views are trees . Another opportunity to observe an extinct (or dormant?) volcano and see the evidence of Maori residence. Thanks so much for encouraging me to venture to the top - - and of course, thanks for the smilie .
Made a trip up Mount Albert to grab this earthcache because it is earthcache weekend, another souvenir for our page. Have sent the answers to the CO and photo attached. Great view from this location. TFTC.
Was up here for some hills sprints today on the mountain. Beautiful weather when I came up, but about halfway through, it poured rain. In my photo you can see the clouds that left me wet.
Decide to do this virtual Earthcache after I finished.
It was nice to take a moment to look out towards the other mountains after I finished exercising.
Thanks for placing this Earthcache!

Scoping out things for travel and love earth caches and virtuals to get my priorities straight.
We climbed up Mt Albert today to collect this earthcache and the multi. Nice views from the top and it seems a very popular place by the amount of foot traffic up here. Soon had all the information required and sent off. Nice to learn all the history of the place
Very nice views and good start to the day. Thanks for sharing the information and for the cache!
Came up here after work, and first headed off to complete the nearby multi, before it got dark. Then continuing my walk around this interesting site, I headed up to the trig station to complete this Earth Cache. While it is now after dark, the evening is clear and the views are still good with the suburbs all lit up below, TFTC
Unsere NZ Reise geht dem Ende zu. Ein paar Caches konnten wir heute noch finden bzw. lösen.

First cache of the day. I had been nearby before but was too lazy to climb the hill on foot, so today, we drove up to take in the views and to claim this cache. I have been reading about the Volcanic Field and its threat to modern day Auckland. Scary stuff... really hope it doesn’t happen in our lifetimes. TFTEC!
We intended to find an Earthcache on Saturday for International Earthcache Day but it turned out to be a busy weekend and we ended up leaving it to the last minute so headed to the summit at dusk to complete this one.
We have never been up here before and enjoyed the view and the nice walk.

A very cold, blustery spring day today on the mountain. Answers have been submitted to the CO and the cache has been logged in anticipation of our answers being accepted, and those of our kids darthcacher1 and purply.
Answers sent to CO. This was my ‘booby’ prize for not finding Circumcentre2 cache. Lovely up here, though overcast and rather windy and therefore somewhat cool. TFTE-C
Team BOP have descended upon Auckland with a pocket full of solved puzzle caches to collect. Our adventure brought us here to Mt Albert and seeing there's an Earthcache here we may as well hang around. It was an enjoyable break up at the trig while we puzzled over some of the questions. A shame that some vandals have removed some of the information boards because I always like to have a bit of a read. Hopefully I've remembered everything for the CO Cheers ishoot, TFTEC
While in Auckland with Team BOP collecting puzzle caches we were nearby to this earthcache and decided to come up for a view of Auckland's volcanoes and to complete this earthcache. Thanks for bringing us here really enjoyed our time up here.
With a bag full of solved puzzles around Auckland, I teamed up once again with Davidson clan and Philip.Perry. Team BOP were reunited once again to gather as many solved puzzles as we had time to find in the two days we had allocated.
Its has taken me a couple of weeks to get my head into logging these and my memory is fading, so am relying on a combo of field-notes and the other logs from Team BOP...
Answers sent to CO for confirmation.
Its one of Aucklands great vantage points.

#62 Found with my mum Gr33nslime and perhaps my dad JimmyNZ. Trying the mass logging thing with GSAK hence the really general log entry!
#876 Logging with permsission. JimmyNZ, DangerSAM and I were in the area to visit relatives during the Xmas holidays and, of course, most visits to other parts of the country rouse a quick search on accessible caches in the area. Why not an earth cache, and up the big hill near by! So it was. Even though being an ex Aucklander, I found it hard to identify some of the volcanoes, and the video we took from the summit didnt help. But nice to get up high for a good view on a gorgeous day. Thanks ishoot for a cool cache and for teaching me some things I did not know. Photo attached
Logging with permission. Was up in Auckland with Gr33nslime and DangerSAM visiting family and trying to do a spot of caching. We decided that we'd hit a couple of different cache types and as we were visiting a family member of Gr33nslime's in the local area we stopped off to do this cache as well. I had to baby sit DangerSAM in the car a little bit so that he wasn't too worried about being up so high on a volcano. Had a perfect day to get the cache done, but the greenery on the trees stopped us from seeing a complete panoramic view of all the Auckland skyline. Glad that we could see enough to get approval to post on the cache though. A really nice spot to visit on a clear day. Thanks for the cache, we enjoyed it.
We only had a short stop in Auckland, but we really love this city. So many place we wanted to see and only less time. Our muggle friends leaded us to this amazing place and so we had the chance to solve this EC. Many thank for showing us this place.
Day seven of my New Zealand geocaching adventure!
Aiming for Earthcaches and odd types&sizes, avoiding traditionals.
It was a day on unpredicatable weather here I had rain, strong winds and very poos visability. Dressed up and went for a quick walk to gather the answers for the cache
Thanks for your Earthcache

Heading home after an excellent day exploring another Auckland volcano, Rangitoto, stopped to complete this earthcache, there was not many people around just a few dog walkers. Got to the geodetic and down came the rain blocking my views of the neighbouring volcanos. I don't remember ever coming up here before so thank you for bringing me here.
After spending much of the morning working on fathers day helping our son move house, we decided to get out and about before visiting our fathers. The earth cache was pretty much our last cache of the day and so we enjoyed the multi on the mount and walking around the crater rims to also find this earth cache. We found where an information board appeared to have been fastened but as noted also by the Menzies it has since been removed. So we used our memories of our education from our youth and tried to spot the various earth cache items. A bit challenging for some given the amount of vegetation that obscured the view but we managed to spot it all. No archery on the Mount today so we were safe from archers, just at risk of falling down the hill instead. Enjoyed the view and tried to imagine what it must be like for those living in some of the houses that are built close to the summit.
Logging with Permission.
Came up here this morning to tick off this EC and the multi that was up here too. Decided to get the EC formalities ticked off first and parked close to the trig station. We saw evidence that there used to be an information plaque up here that may have provided info but it's gone. We still managed to have a look around and answer the questions to the best of our ability. Trees obscure a lot of the view out to the Waitemata harbour but as we wandered around in search of the multi later on we saw all the way from Rangitoto around to Mt Roskill (amazing views) and saw more evidence of Maori settlement on this great mountain. TFTEC

This is our first earthcache and what better than our local mountain. My sacred mountain is Puketapapa, Mt Roskill which I have ascended many times but this was my first visit to the summit of Owairaka/Mt Albert. I was surprised at how different they are.
We had a good ramble assembling our answers and had plenty of company on this lovely early winter day. Sports were being played, walkers walking, families picnicing, dogs also, well walking and teenage girls having noisy, intimate phone calls on speaker next to trig stations. Okay there was only one teenage girl having a TMI conversation on speaker but that was plenty.
We discovered a great new lead off dog park to bring our geohound, great walking tracks and truly magnificent views over the city.
Thanks for bringing us to this lovely spot, and TFTC!

Came up here today on such a beautifully warm May day!. Several people were here and coming and going while I sat down next to the trig to sort the answers out. I have always loved Maori history and there is plenty to see of that up here. Thanks for the cache.

#1947. Leap Day 2016. I decided to add a few different cache types to the day. Drove back down to the city from Te Atatu and up Mt Albert. Parked the car and went for a pleasant walk around the domain to do the earthcache and the multi. Reached the trig point and read up on the earthcache on my GPS. Was dismayed to find the description ran out of space on the device before the actual logging requirements came up. So had to phone Mrs GSEL back in Wellington who looked it up on her smartphone and sent me the information about what I needed to do. Took a photo from the summit and gathered the required information. Have sent this off to the CO. Good to learn more about this mountain which I have never been up previously, despite dozens of visits to Auckland over the years. Thanks for the EC.
Our First Earthcache in NZ. thanks for making an Earthcache with such a wonderfull view. The answeres to the questions i will send later to the owner, First we travelling New Zealand!!
I had a nice walk up to the summit. The views were a bit obscured, but still very nice. It seems that the information on the marker stone and the wooden posts has gone, so if there was anything there, it is gone. I stayed until a muggle and his son came up.
I sent in my answers. I hope they are close enough. TFTeC.

I needed to do a few Earthcaches for my geo licence and I've never been up this volcano before so today was an ideal opportunity. It's nice and quiet compared to the other more well known volcanos. My kids had fun running around on the sports field It's a shame that a lot of the volcanos were quarried destroying many archaeological features but hindsight's a great thing I've emailed the CO my answers, TFTC!
Did this one while our walking group took a short rest on the summit. Great view. Answers have been sent to CO. Thanks for bringing me here.
A lovely sunny afternoon found Kiwiscot & Kiwi visiting Owairaka Mt Albert for the 1st time. It has been over a dozen years since Scotty last visited. Great views and a lovely spot for walking. Managed to do a couple of other caches while we were rambling about. TFTEarthcache.
Nice pleasant stroll (drive) round Owairaka Mt Albert before work this morning for some wonderful views. Couldn't believe how many dog walkers were out and about so early (0620). Thanks for bringing me up here, it has been a while. Will have to come back and complete the multi (which I couldn't do in my work gear). Logged with permission. This is find #777.
I grew up in the area, but had no incentive to climb the mountain as a teenager. Nice to come back to the area. Logging with permission. TFTC.
We were out and about collecting caches to help finish meeting the requirements for our Geo-Licence challenge. Our first time up this mountain, so it was nice to explore and gather the required infomation for this Earth Cache. Always love exploring the mountains of Auckland. Logging with permission. Thanks for the Earth Cache!
Out with KatMidd and Nebulenz for earth cache day. Had a bit of trouble spotting a second Maori feature, but found some likely suspects while doing the Where Arrows Fly multi.

Thanks for bringing us here to do a little study of the area. Low cloud today so volcano spotting slightly harder but good for Master 10 to work out. Tftc

As it is EarthCache Day the family went in search of a nearby cache to log. We'd been to this location before though not for caching and today was equally windy as the last! We all had a great deal of fun working out the answers to the questions. TFTC!!!

Grew up in Mt Albert & visited the mountain many times as a child but not so much now so thanks for bringing me back here.
Hey Chaturini, Read up on Earth caches... There is no physical container at the site.... It just takes you somewhere interesting and you answer the questions privately to the CO to prove that you have been there.
The two ladies in my life were taking a nap so I took my chance to pick up the latest Geocaching Roadtrip souvenir. I'm not far from Mt Albert, so headed up the hill. Never been up here so thanks for bringing me. Too self conscious for a selfie, but here's my GPSr looking over to One Tree Hill. Hope my answers are satisfactory. Logged to keep my caches in order. Thanks!
Out walking the dog today in one of or favourite dog walking locations. Daughter and I decided to do our very 1st Earth Cache. Was great to actually know what was achieved such a long time ago in this spot. TFTC.

Out and about today waiting for paint to dry. So a wee caching trip was in order. I had to head to New Lynn to grab an order made on Monday and then headed out from there.
I have been on a wee mini mission to score as many ECs as I can and this was 'nearby'. GPSr put me crook so parked at the end of a random street and walked to gz past a 'tick breeding' sign. I was glad it wasn't September yet. I made my observations at GZ and took photos. Lovely views today on a stunning clear day. Emailed CO.

I decided this afternoon to visit a few caches in Auckland to complete my months found calendar. So I mainly targeted some old caches and there are a lot in this area !
The weather is pretty nice and I will not need my rain coat and enjoyed the sun nearly all over the afternoon. Only issue in winter : at 5pm, the sun has disappeared and I used a light to find the 2 last caches of the day !
Next to an old cache is this earth cache. It's worth the visit

Had to sit a spell after the ride here. so well worth it on this cool windy night. Wish I was able to do this in the daylight. My ship was in port for the night only and I was on a mission to check out as many Earth caches I could. This one was the most distant for me. Thank you very much for the educational oportunity.
With another day of questionable weather forecast my plans were all over the place and wasn't sure that a powertrail of Route 66 would be a sensible idea, nor any of the other walks that rae dotted around here. Settled instead to target a few earthcaches and get myself out of the 40 something amount I've been on for a few years now. Listed over a dozen and smattered a few others which took my fancy and set out nice and early whilst the rain had stayed off.
Another Earthcache and the weather was horrendous whenI got to the top. Waited for a gap in the weather before a quick run up the steps to get some of the answers required.
Thanks for bringing me here, I will have to return in better weather

Today was a Geocaching mission into Auckland City - I arrived by plane from Whakatane just after lunchtime, hired a car and set off on a round trip. The plan was to find seven different cache types, a list I had planned out in advance that looped around from the airport, to New Lynn, Point Chevalier, Queen Street, One Tree Hill and then back to the airport for a flight back to Christchurch at dinner time. Another tick, one of several great city views for today's trip. TFTC (1779)
Yay! Here with my girlfriend on Wednesday.
Last year I visited every volcano in Auckland with the aid of the book Auckland's Volcanoes. Many are completely gone, just an intersection in an industrial area etc.
Great view from up here, and really enjoyed remembering going to every volcano, their uniqueness etc. Giving it a favourite as such.
Cheers!

This was meant to be our best view over Auckland, but the sight was very poor because of the rain coming in. We were in some kind of trouble because of a missing signpost, but asked a local man who helped us to some of the answers.
The way up was not meant to serve campervans, but we made it with only a few scratches on the roof.
Thanks a lot for sharing this place- answers have been sent.

Last summer the idea was born to visit [Green]'New Zealand'[/Green], together with [url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url]
After some important decisions regarding the beginning of our trip, the flights, the general route and the car were made, the most important question was still unanswered: which caches can we visit during our tour [?]
To get an answer for this topic I was fetching almost every cache from both islands [8)][:X]
[url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url] and I love [Teal]'Geo-Arts'[/Teal]...so we added all these cache series to our wish list
After this decision was made this list was more than 300 puzzle caches long...unsolved puzzle caches
Two weeks before Christmas it was getting time to start solving all these mystery caches
Even with the different language I could find almost every solution
In the case I was not so successful I was contacting some of the CO's...and was always getting help from them...many thanks for this support [:X]
During the following weeks our cache list was growing and growing...meanwhile more than 1000 caches long...too long for a simple bookmark list from GC
Time to get our route and caches in sync...time to save the PQ's to our Garmins...time to start this holiday:
Chapter 30: [blue]Auckland[/blue] to [red]Sydney[/red]
Unbelievable, but today was our last day in this lovely country
On our way to the airport we were looking for the last caches in this area
This earth cache was one of them
I would like to thank all the cache owners for showing us these great places and maintaining all these caches,

just a reason for a walk after work..all though a bit chilly on top as always..darn where is my wooly hat when i need it... lots of people seem to do weird exercise things around GZ like sitting on the right angle like yoga's.. not really a tall hill for that kind of carry on? - answers emailed to owner.
I have driven past this volcano many times, but never taken the time to stop and have a look around. So today's exploration took the geohound and I to the top! Its a really lovely spot, and beautiful views over the city. Thanks for bringing me here! TFTC
Despite visiting nearly every other volcanic cone in Auckland I had never visited Owairaka until today. Thanks for great explanation of the Auckland volcanic field in the cache notes. I recently purchased a book 'Volcanoes of Auckland - the essential guide', a great book if you want to learn more. This earthcache deserves a Favourite point from me.
A good day for a cache, on the Quest for the August Souvenir. Don't know if I spotted all the volcanoes everything looked volcanic!
Found on a caching day in Auckland. The main objectives were earthcaches and a few challenge caches that I have had my eye on for some time. Arrived at Mt Albert and after parking at the gate walked the loop. Lots of people watching sports on this beautiful, sunny, short day.
The first time that I arrived in Auckland in 2001, I was really keen to visit one of the volcanoes. I had never seen one in person and even an inactive one was a treat. Now that I have seen a number of them including active ones, one would think it would be boring, but instead I am still excited by the thought.
I learned a lot on this trip about Auckland and the volcanoes. I had not realized how many there were until I saw the maps included with this earthcache. Nor had I realized how extensively the Maori had made use of them.
A really good caching day and a great earthcache to find. Cheers ishoot! Logged with permission.

Had just finished tennis nearby, and decided to complete this cache. Parked the car on the road and walked up to the trig. It looks like some boards that held information were missing, so used some observation and reading of the description to gain some answers. It was lovely and sunny while up here, and thank goodness I missed the rain. We have so many beautiful scenic lookouts in Auckland.
Drove to the summit, looked for nearby caches, explored a place that I had not visited for a very long time. Enjoyed collecting the information for the Earthcache, and learning a bit more about this place. Thanks again for the cache.
Have not been to Mt Albert for a long time, I could not remember being able to drive to the top. I suspect that because we would want to come at night, and the gates would be closed. Not today, easy drive to the summit. Admired the trig, found the necessary information, and soaked in the views. Thanks for bringing us here.
I've driven through Mt Albert 100's of times and never thought about thought about the actual mountain of Mt Albert. Thanks for this.
Nice visit and walk around mountain some signage seems to be missing at site. Email sent tftc
I hadn't been up Mt Albert for years so finding the correct road took a bit longer than expected. However this was well worth the effort, even in-between the showers. TFTC!
#6452. A great viewpoint. The day was clear, and we had not trouble spotting some of the better known cones. As we've come to realise (mainly through looking for caches), some of the craters are well disguised. Troodles sent answers on behalf of both of us. TFTC.
We started walking in the crater, and saw that there was an earth cache nearby so took the direct (high terrain) approach, trying not to be shot at by a local sportsman. After we had admired the view and gathered the info, I more sensibly took the road down while StreetWalker threw caution to the wind and went down the steep way, and drew blood in the process.
Thanks for history lesson and the cache.
