While spending a few days around Mansfield I enjoyed an afternoon slowly making my way up to Mt Buller and caching along the way. Not many people around at this time of year so made it easy to find the cache at gz. Thanks for the cache gmj3191.
After reading the hint out loud, Steve went to the left side of the hut, while I, true to form went right. No prizes for guessing who found the cache. We emptied the water from the container and managed to sign the wet logbook. We are thoroughly enjoying our visit to Mt Buller. Thanks gmj3191.
On a short trip south and before heading home we detoured up to Mount Buller in order to collect the webcam and stretch our feet before continuing our drive. With the cache in hand we signed the log before replacing as found. All caches found this afternoon were in good condition. Thanks for the cache gmj3191.The following TBs came through for the mileage: Bob geoMinion, Dave geoMinion, Evil geoMinion, Jerry geoMinion, Larry geoMinion, Mary Hyde's Treasure, Stuart geoMinion, teamMerlin's 7 Deadly Ducks Tag (Lust), Vanlith The Youngling, Hidden Creatures Geocoin TB, teamMerlin's Football, Autism Speaks Puzzle Piece #16, Dottie the Gingerbread Man Travel Tag - Replacement, South Africa Flag Micro Geocoin, Ornithorhynchus anatinus, Sydney the Koala Travel Tag, Best day ever, Nessy - The Loch Ness Monster, Hidden Creatures to Walca, Mont Saint-Michel Cache Race Tag, Speurmausje, Youre a STAR!, Czech Travel Gecko Tag - Erinnerung an PRAG GIGA 2022, South East UK Mega 2024, King's Quest VI
TFTC smile19782 Out and about on a Sunny day on my way to Canberra in a round about way picking up LGAs on the way signed and replaced Thank you gmj3191 for placing this cache for our enjoyment
Visited it during 28-days geotrip to Australia, N.Caledonia, Vanuatu, Fiji, Am.Samoa, Fr.Polynesia with Marci, Ch. Sometimes we logged as "MT" or "Jonea" or "MTCh". Thanks for showing nice caches and places. MT-Jonea from Brno city in Czechia EU. Abi, wllp
Today is our drive up to Mt Buller to collect a few high altitude caches as well as the webcam. We had fantastic weather - in fact it was short sleeves even though it was about 13c. We also found caches along the way. Later in the day we took a drive out to Tolmie and discovered a very interesting community. Thanks to all the COs.
Out and about today from Mansfield to Mt Buller and then out to Tolmie. We were expecting it to be much colder up in Mt Buller, but with no wind it was quite pleasant. Arrived at GZ and in short time, found cache and signed logs. Thank you to the CO for placing them out there. TFTC
Found on a visit to Mount Buller for the day while staying at Benalla for two nights. The main aim of the day was to qualify for two high-altitude challenge caches in the 'Straya' challenge series near Karoonda SA. Thanks for the cache gmj3191!
We are on the way to Canberra for the MEGA Easter 2024 via Victoria. We stop for sightseeing and caches. We came across this cache on Mount Buller, collecting some more smilies! In the freezing temperature of 6-12 degrees - after we spent 2,5 weeks in Adelaide with 37+ degrees! Freezing! - but prepared with Beanie, gloves and jumpers! We found this cache and signed the log.Tftc gmj3191
The Adelaide Leap Day Mega and Canberra Geobash gave us a great excuse for a road trip. This trip has shown us so many new and interesting places as weve chased LGAs, oldies, challenges, interesting D/T combinations, rarer cache types and favourites.Meeting up with friends old and new along the way, we sometimes cached together and sometimes alone but always had a great time. Today we took a day trip from Wangaratta to Mount Buller, stopping at anything that caught our eye along the way. These turned out to be all wonderful caches. After hiking around the nature summit trail and to the top of Mount Buller, we took a little exploratory drive around the village and collected this cache. Thanks to the CO for placing and maintaining this cache and adding to our enjoyment.
Staying close to base Snips and Co and Tiz13 decided to meander around the top of the mountain collecting the caches not involving a long hike like we both desired and had come to do. This was one of the caches we found as we continued on our morning walk.
Even in the rain you can feel Mt Buller village coming alive in winter, such a cool village. Due to the rain Tiz13 and I were enjoying the village rather than hiking today. Apart from a left / right which is which problem, we had the cache quickly in hand. Thanks gmj3191, your village caches have kept us satisfied - so good.
A little damp undergrowth to negotiate but beyond that, all very painless in the dark. Log was a bit damp & thus I left a splodge. TNLN-TFTC!

TFTC. gmj3191 for your cache Mt Buller - Village End that we found today.
We are staying in the North East for longer than anticipated. While we were here we decided that as it was a nice day we would drive out to Mount Buller for the day. We targeted some caches as we made our way to Mansfield and then up the Mountain. The major aim was to get our first webcam. We also planned to add some caches to increase our elevation numbers. A great day out.

Nearing the end of my day up here I thought I would duck in here for my penultimate mountain cache.
All quiet at gz.
Cache a little damp as the rubber ring is no longer doing its job.
Cheers

Day One.
My son and I New Year trip turn into drive into NSW and beyond. Today was more about driving. I found 9 today with few DNF. Oh well they do happen.
The breakdown was a mystery, community event, traditional, multi and adventure lab.
Day Two.
We carry on heading south down Newell highway grabbing more caches. Stopping for old and some new virtual, plus more non traditional for a challenge. Unfortunately some of those prove hard to find.
I had lots of fun doing earthcache they brought us to some wonderful places.
I found 26 today the breakdown was 3 virtual, 3 earthcache, 5 traditional and 3 adventure labs with 15 waypoints.
Day 3
Heading towards Mt Buller
After early start we started grabbing caches along the Newell highway to get more LGA cover.
I found 28 today with a lot of driving. The breakdown is 6 traditional, 9 virtual, (most I found in a day) 2 mystery, earthcache plus 2 adventure lab with 10 waypoints.
Thank you CO for your hides and the maintenance you do. For us to find

I don’t understand what’s going on? It December and there’s snow falling on Mt Buller. We came prepared for the cool, but not for this level of COLD
But the Green Geckos & I are here for a very short window, we will be moving as fast as we can to keep warm as we go. This one was alright to find as the GPS was fine. Our name are in the log & that’s what counts until I can find 2 bottles of Rum & a fireplace.

Muggle65 and l are dying from the cold up here. We are coated with snow and really want to retreat to our nice warm vehicle. Thank you for the fun
Found on a nice sunny day after having a wonder around the village and attending an event.

A relatively warm, calm day around Mount Buller, not too many people about, probably due to the rather unprecedented weather across Victoria in recent weeks. We met a group of riders on a variety of bikes as we walked to the end. Wow, first in the new log - almost as good asa FTF! Collected a CO PathTag - thanks for sharing.
Thanks to gmj3191 for adding this cache to the gameboard.

Quack Definitely not there. Definitely. I happened to know owners of Duck Inn and son Boris came out - he knows where it’s supposed to be! But now I know where Duck Inn is
Found container but it had been raised. No geocache gear inside. Reassembled the camoflauge rocks on top.
Found refuse hut, found wooden steps, found rocks under steps, found a pen and weeds, but no cache. If anyone finds the cache after todays date please post a photo of it.
On our up to Mt Buller to do the webcam, picking up a few caches along the way. Stamped log and replaced. Thanks to CO.

This was the fourteenth find of 35 finds for the day. After finding “The Alpine Chapel”, again the desire to boost numbers was strong, so Mizmaz and I quickly drove around the village to locate this traditional. It was somewhat difficult getting out of the car given the slope we were parked on, but fortunately a quick find was made. I’m not sure though how well a cache made of this material will last in such an area given the variable weather conditions. SL. TFTC.

While in Mt Buller for my first webcam, picked up a couple of bonus smileys along the way.
This was the start of a long day and a very important day for me. Trying to beat my previous type finds in a day total.
This is going to be a very well organised, stressful and fun day. We had set ourselves a challenge to pick up as many different types of caches in a day, grab some higher altitude caches and then to add to it, grab some different size caches all in a day.
With our game faces on Domsky’s and I headed to the start of today’s list. We were super excited and had a good plan. First was an event and then head out to grab the MT. Buller caches and then work our way back to town.
It was a super fun day and a relatively easy and fun time, we even got to see some “Serenity”.
In the case of the events, we signed the logbooks and in the case of a cache, we signed and replaced as found. Thank you to all the CO’s for our journey today, it was memorable.

Day Three: Multiple Types in a Day
A bonus cache whist in the Mt Buller village to boost my >1500m numbers. I also believe that these caches count as “Unincorporated Victoria” LGA, another bonus.
Thanks for this hide gmj3191, I’ve enjoyed my visit to Mt Buller.

Day one of the Wangaratta oddessey with AlphaDeltaIndigo and Ying~Yang. Melbourne to Mt Buller, started in the heat, ended in the cold, but still somehow muggy all along the way. We mostly focussed on trands today, with a few multi's here and there.

We looked high and low but came up empty handed. Only found a number of rocks and a pen, so no luck for us here today. Hopefully it will be here when next in the area.
Day1976 and I were going to be heading up to St Arnaud for the weekend, but with the temperatures set to soar, we changed our plans and headed higher up.
After finding a spot to camp, we set up and lightened the load in the car, then headed up towards Buller.
Some muggles had found this one, so we hid it with a bit more cover.

Ilukaperi and I had decided to escape the heat for the weekend and so we headed higher up in altitude. Towards Mt Buller/Stirling. We took her Jimny with its fancy new AT tires. Camping at Buttercup campground, we used that as a great base for exploring the area.
The first day we met up at her place in Ferntree Gully and left at around 1pm, arriving at 4pm, we set up camp and then took off up the mountain. Grabbing a few of the corner series and then some of the higher altitude caches (most which I already had found). An exhausting evening saw us not arrive back to camp for dinner until 9pm.
Found the cache easily. Mainly because it wasn’t covered, so you could see it quite easily if you glanced in the right direction. Some of our muggle friends had also found and logged the cache recently too. So we re hid a little better. TFTC

Having a caching day around Buller area.
It was a rainy and fog type of day.
That didn't stop us, just glad i didn't need to dig the cache out of the snow.
Also it's good to have almost no muggles around in the off season.
Out caching with D@geo

Enabling for people isolating at Mount Buller who may be walking around the mountain.
Melbourne is currently in Level 4 lockdown

Disabled for the duration of the Covid-19 crisis.
Although exercise is ok, beaches, parks etc are gradually being closed, and we are being asked to stay home.
The possibility to transmit the virus by surface contact exists, so why take chances?
At the end of the day, geocaching is a game, and we are dealing with a serious Public Health issue.
We need to get our priorities in order.
I believe the responsible thing is to disable all my caches, until the crisis passes.
Thanks.

Victoria Day 4: Mt Buller and Back
Today was the day I took on my 6000th cache milestone at Victoria’s Oldest, with the added bonus of having a little hike to the summit of Mount Buller as the cherry on the cake. It was a long drive out of Melbourne for these caches, but the weather today was pleasant as we drove through the Victorian High Country. All went well as we stopped in many small towns along the way, and had lunch at Mount Buller Village before going for a hike to the summit before returning to Melbourne for some Vietnamese pho. Very nice day all round with a good number of caches found too!
This is the specific log for this cache:
This was quite literally the Village End for me as the last cache I found in the village before descending to the bottom of the mountain again. An easy find was had as advertised, so TFTC!

An easy find during my late exploration of the village. It's another exposed cache, it wasn't covered and easy to spot from the road. I've returned it to the state and hide as per description
Soooooo excited to find our first geocache. Great spot and just challenging enough for a 7 year old. Thanks a million. Thanks without end. Fin.
Finally got to have a couple of days off so I headed up to Molesworth for a few days of R&R and caching.
After attending the dawn service at Boonie Doon I headed up to Mt Buller and was picking up caches as I go.
Eventually I made it up to the village and of course I did the webcam first, and after a drive around the top it was time to come back to have a walk around the village to find the caches here.
This one was the last one for the day after a great day spent getting up here and driving and walking around here.
I will be back to complete a few more of the caches up around the top and to organise a walk down the Klingsporn Track later this year.
This one was found out in the open so I tried to conceal it a better afte4 signing the log.
Thanks gmj3191 TFTC.

I left a TB in this easily found cache and appreciated being able to do the cache in the quiet of the village at the moment. It has been enjoyable being able to drive around the place while it is quiet and look at the variety of building styles. I imagine it is quite different in the snow season. There’s lots of builders and other workers around working furiously to finish projects before the snow arrives. It was relatively warm here this afternoon. We only had T-shirts on. TFTC
The cache was out in the open and could see it from the car, a nice and easy find.
A huge weekend away, with over 2000km being driven over 3 days from Adelaide to Mansfield via swan hill and Echuca, then return via Bendigo and St Arnaud. The target was to collect 11 new local government areas and mostly stop and do some multis.
But the main goal was tour of Mansfield, a cycling tour consisting of 3 stages over 2 days (Saturday and Sunday).
Stage 1: 14km Individual time time trail.
Stage 2: 76km road race finishing up old Tolmie
Stage 3: 46km road race finishing up the top of mt bulla.
Wednesday I left Adelaide for Victoria via pinnaroo, I decided I would stop when I had enough of driving. I camped in the back of a cemetery yes a cemetery, nice and peaceful in Nyah. Thursday I made my way from Nyan to Mansfield via Swan Hill, Echuca and Shepparton with 2 trips over the boarder. A lot of DNFs on caches as some were barrow red off due to road works and others I must if stuffed up. I ended up camping the night in Mansfield. Friday I held my event in Mansfield with a big show of 1 (just myself)!!! And went for a drive up mt bulla. Saturday was mainly racing and Sunday after the race I made my way back to Adelaide via Victorias oldest cache and some new roads through the middle of victoria that I had never been on before.. With arrival on Monday at 1am back home. A big trip out and a great weekend away with a little under 100 finds.
Thanks for the cache placements by all the cache owners.
