Yep, found it. It could do with some more log paper soon, in good condition. TFTC
**#21,006**Yes the terrain rating could be a tad higher me thinks too.Had to tuck in and step down beside the cutty grass Toi Toi bush to get down for the find. All good, part of the game!
I couldn't even work out where to search without needing a much higher terrain rating
ATM ventured down and spotted the overhang and the gap but sadly only found rubbish
#587Catching up on log entries for today, so heres an abridged version of what I had intended to say:- bit of cutty grass around- the rock and hiding hole really helped to distinguish the cache from the rubbish at GZ-cache was nice and dry
Bit tricky to get to… found on a Sunday morning when we thought traffic would be light took longer but accessed tftc
Decided to avoid the cutty grass and lept over the bridge railing with a slightly firmer landing than planned. My GPS had the cache closer to the water but once below I could see that walking down the side of the bridge would have been easier (but less exciting!) cache in good order, just a few grazes on the hunter!
I was glad of the hint because my phone decided it was not going to cooperate today and insisted I was still 30Km away!
Waited for a gap in the traffic and used the railings to climb down. There was a lot of rubbish in amongst the cutty grass but for once I was in long sleeves so it didn't matter. Instantly spotted the hint item, pulled it out and saw the tell tale signs of a cache......a bright green lid.
Cache was remarkably dry if a bit dirty on the outside.
Pulled myself back up to the roadside, emerging when I thought there was a gap in the traffic.

Found it while going for our afternoon run. Got some strange looks from the people waiting in Auckland 5Pm traffic … lol! Thanks for the cache. Great fun
Last cache of the day.
Got to GZ to find a mass of spiky grass blocking the way down.
Fought my way through but with the assistant unsupervised by the busy road, and a whole host of rubbish down there, I decided to call it quits.
One for another day.

Currently not reachable with this side of bridge closed to pedestrians and coming up from underneath not possible for us today. Another day.
363. Out attempting to complete the Highbrook caches today. Found the cave and 2 mice. TFTC
I went for an evening stroll through this wide open park. I found the cache ok but was mortified to find I'd dropped my pen while walking to the cache. Hopefully its ok to log the find, Have a photo to prove I found it if required. TFTC
Despite the recent DNF I was confident and with the road closed today was able to search without others seeing. Stepped down a little bit and the nice sized container was soon located.
The recipe - mrs c at work? Check. Me, with a day off to go caching? Check. A decent weather forecast? Check. And so it came to pass that I headed out to Highbrook for a few hours caching having visited the area earlier in the year for some vaccination stuff, and not enough time to do the area justice. Plenty of finds this morning, but a nasty accident on Highbrook Drive early this morning meant coming in from Pakuranga way, and back the same way. All good though. Even encountered another family out caching, kylerrrr, and saw them a couple of times on the trails, nice. Thanks to all COs.

Our goal today was to complete finding the rest of the caches at Highbrook having been rained off a few days ago after finding just the two at the Northern end. We parked in the public car park and made an anti-clockwise walk to finally come back down Underwood Street to cross the very much quieter road back to the car. An enjoyable and successful day. Mrs OZ in NZ, bless her, offered to retrieve this cache which was slightly damp with a nearly full log. Thanks Trout-fly, this was a very good day to have come, very little traffic and able to cross the road without using the traffic lights.
Fast moving traffic in this location, make sure you have your young ones well away from the road edge, nice and easy find on this one, cut cut cut your way through.

Mrs HeMaLuDy has signed up for a few virtual 5 km walks, and today was the day for one of them so we headed this way to break up the walk with a few caches. Thankfully Mr HeMaLuDy went down to make the find as he is sure Mrs HeMaLuDy would not have had the arm length to retrieve the cache. And it was him that got the rash from the cutty grass!
I was with another cacher back in July 18 when we found this one. I was not caching back then but have now decided to create my own account. So logging in retro and hope that is ok.
Another hot day, another work lunch time outing. Quite a bit of traffic, and felt a bit conspicuous with the traffic camera’s beady eye nearby. Once out of sight, had to avoid being cut to shreds by the cutty grass. Finding was then the easy part, due to the nice hint. Emerged back into full view of the traffic and the beady eye. Head down, just walk away. With the thought that someone must be wondering what foul deed had just been committed in there. TFTC, I think
We found it!!!
We didn’t find it until we were just coming back!!
We wouldn’t really call it small but it was a good cache!!
Thanks heaps
I was a little puzzled when I approached the cache by car and couldn't find a spot to park. I probably should have read the cache description beforehand... I stopped at the first opportunity that came up, which was the public car park in about 1.3 km distance. On a very windy day, but without rain, I enjoyed the walk to GZ. It was an easy find, thanks to the good hint. Took the TB. Thanks for hiding an maintaining and also for bringing me here.

In Auckland for weekend visiting family decided I needed to find a few caches before heading backbto Rotorua . Sam and I came out to Highbrook to get a few.

Nice sunny morning, although a bit of a bite in the air, so out with the bikes and headed off to explore an area not done before. Dropped off a couple of TBs before heading back to the carpark. TFTC
A nice afternoon walk collecting some caches.Quickly saw this cache and made a grab for it very relieved I didn’t drop it.
A fine Holy Saturday and a chance to get out and find some of the new caches out at Highbrook. A small group comprising of Mr. Kiwi from LiverKiwi and his muggle brother, LordCacher08, AntNZ and son, met up to grab some caches while everybody would have been enjoying the Easter break.
We approached GZ and with the geo-senses working we soon figured out where the cache would mot likely be. This was confirmed by the hint, so it was just a matter of someone going in to make the find. Antnz was the person elected and in he went. A little touchy feely and the cache was soon in hand. The log was signed and the cache replaced.
Afterwars, we all just had to have a look over the edge of the bridge. Here we discovered the old ford that runs along side the bridge. This took a little explaining to the boys, but they got the idea in the end.

No real plans made for today but Auckland was the place to go.
We still have in excess of 2,000 caches in area to find and log so this is going to take some time to complete.
Spur of the moment and teamed up with ABCDF4,Eyespyben & Squirrel Nutcase.
Thought we would hit one area and try to clean it up. Apart from one cache that is disabled, think we got the rest plus a few outer lying caches on way home.
All caches signed as Team HRP (Huntly,Rotorua,Papamoa) This being our home towns.
Thanks to cache owners for their placements. SLTFTC

Got up and decided to go to high brook to clean out some caches and the sign the logs as H/R/P tftc nice hide.
With Gap (of Fap and Gap), ABCDF4, and eyespyben... All logs were signed Team H (Huntly) R (Rotorua) P (Papamoa).
Our original plan was to complete the Hakarimata Northern Walkway this weekend. However, the weather deteriorated and we chickened out... An alternative was suggested by our Huntly friends - Let's go up to Highbrook (Auckland). It seems that this location is getting a lot of attention at the moment, with a lot of new placements in the area.
The rain fell more steadily and didn't let up for the rest of the morning. It seemed to come at us from all directions. We were soaked through, but figured we couldn't get any wetter than we were at that moment... It was a bit of a blessing to shelter below the bridge for a bit. The cache was a quick find while waiting for the rain to ease off. TFTC.

Excellent hint. Accurate coordinates. Nice quick find. A really nice walk on a beautiful spring evening.
I apologise for the generic log, but today was all about the numbers. I am attending WENZ in 8 days time, and I want to have the Mega event as my 1000th cache, so I have only these few days to find about 70 caches.
So whilst I'm staying in Auckland for a few days, I wanted to take a look around an area I hadn't previously visited, and therefore "target-rich", which today was the industrial area to the west of East Tamaki.
I decided to follow the pound hound trail (so to speak) in the hope that the forecast showers wouldn't eventuate. But over the course of the couple of hours I was out I got rained on 4 times! But luckily for me I managed to find every cache I went for bar the last one which I took as my signal to call it a day.
Parking up anywhere near this cache was interesting to say the least, but funnily enough I found somewhere down the road a bit which meant that this cache was a 4 minute walk away. Once at GZ, the description and Hint were more than enough for a quick find, but if you're interested I made the co-ordinates to be S 36° 56.668 E 174° 51.730.
I picked up the TB previously left, and will take it down south with me to attend the WENZ weekend events.
Thanks for the cache, and the reason to discover a new walkway.

Everytime I drive past this way I think I must go find this cache, but theres no parking along here and nowhere to stop. However decided to come for a bike ride after work today, and parked over on El Kobar Dr. The plan is to cycle around the area collecting the caches around here. Its getting late so I focused mainly on the caches near the trail. After leaning the bike over near by, I quickly had this cache in hand, dropped off TB, TFTC
Find number 4079. 2nd day of caching with onecoolhand who is a newbie. He had walked past this cache so I grabbed it and sat down and was signing the log when he turned around and laughed. I do really like these nice easy find. Especially after the last one. Thank you for the placement.
Caching with KayGeeDee, he showed me up yet again! I walked right by it as he quickly swooped it up from it's home.
Definitely needed the hint to solve this one. Then it was easy. Is bigger than I was expecting, tftc
Cache uncovered so replaced to match the hint. Nice quick find and dry log. TFTC.
Aiden29, Jag50 and I decided to clear the caches in Highbrook today. Traffic was reasonably quiet today and we made a nice quick find here
Joined up with Merlot58 and Aiden29 on a quiet public holiday so had the place to ourselves. Not too much traffic as we crossed the road. A skink was on guard duty. We had a debate about the old structure as to whether it was ford or a bridge?
Made plans with Jag50 and merlot58 to find all the caches in Highbrook. Was nice and quiet with the public holiday, so not much traffic around. Merlot made a quick find after scaring off the skink.
Back in New Zealand for the annual work visit, this time with the benefit of hindsight I knew that sleeping would prove a challenge so with some running gear in the suitcase heading further afield for a cache was more of an option. This one looked like it fitted the bill, around the right distance away and no thorns or other vegetation to fight through so I set out from the hotel at about 6:30 for a leisurely run/walk to here. Traffic at GZ was moderate, but even so I waited a bit for a break in traffic to duck down out of sight and the cache was instantly visible for an easy find. Signed and replaced before heading back for a bit of breakfast. Greetings from Northern Ireland. TFTC
The road was quite busy but rush hour was over so there were enough gaps in the flow to duck under and out of sight without being spotted.
After signing the log we managed to scramble back up to the footpath during another gap in the traffic without arousing suspicion as to what we were doing under a bridge at dusk.
Great hide, TFTC

Fourth find of the day so far with PHILBIRDBOYS, nice quick find co-ords were bang on. TFTC.
Out and about today with the hubby, as we had to drop his car off nearby at the mechanic, and as we had both decided that we needed to do something about our current fitness levels, a walk was definitely on the cards. We knew there was a nice little path along the Highbrook waterfront (and bonus: a few caches I hadn't yet found! ) so we pulled into the parking area and set off along the path, hubby rolling his eyes good-naturedly as I told him how many metres to this cache (believe it or not, he actually got more into it than I was before the walk was complete..... muahahahaha..... my evil little plan is coming together!!! )
Approaching this one, I was slightly concerned about how visible we would be to passing traffic, and began wishing I'd bought my invisibility cloak- ahem, high-viz vest. But I needent have worried.... figured out the hide as soon as we got within a few metres, and the cache was quickly retrieved after that.
All in good condition- hid a little better when returned, as it was pretty visible.

Really busy road here and was not looking forward to being in the open while trying to find this; glad it was not so obvious. Cache was found quickly and back on track to continue the walk. TFTC.
Out with the kids picking up some caches in the Highbrook area hoping not to get too wet in the rain This was number 4 of the day and was quickly spotted, although it blended in well with all the rubbish around... TFTC!
The proximity of the traffic made my canine companions a bit nervous. Surprisingly busy for a Saturday morning. Was going to cross the road for another cache,, but once dog is a bit slow so it wouldn't have been fair on his 15 year old bones.

Beautiful day for caching.Parked nearby and enjoyed the walk over to the cache GZ picking up the available caches. At GZ kiwiscot sent to undertake the retrieval which was completed very quickly. All good. TFTC
Easy find while checking out the area on our bikes. Nice easy ride here for us unfit geocyclists. Tftc .
Collected this series of caches while holidaying recently with tmann421. All good hides and relatively quick finds. Interesting locations!! TFTC and the series Agazo
Another great find while on holiday in the area with Just-Lookin.
Soon had the container found.
Thanks for the fun! SL

Now here is a place I would NEVER go to normally. Every time I drive here now I will have a smile. Husband and dog watched on. Would love to know what people thought as they drove by.
A little while ago an idea was thrown about to head north for a final caching roadtrip for the year. So along with C&D a rough plan was formed with a certain few caches, a confluence point visit, an event to attend, and the rest of the plan was to be made up as we went along. So with a 2am start Saturday morning in Hamilton it was going to be a long weekend. Also Alpenmilch80 had decided to join in on the fun as well.
We had to make a quick detour from the road north to get this one as it was the last cache I needed to finish of the Geo Licences once and for all. With it still being very early in the morning C&D dropped me off very near GZ and did a loop or two, while I hunted for the cache. Took a little longer to locate the I would of liked, as there was a bit of rubbish about and the fact that I was still half asleep, but cache found and licences done. Thanks for the hide.

Had to park a wee way away & take a walk to this one. Quick find once you know where to look! TFTC
Bit hard to get to this one as there was no parking close by. Came back today with a bike which solved the parking issue. TFTC.
Decided to do this one on the way home, parked illegaly and just as i was busy put cache back the cops pulled up. Lesson learned on this one. TFTC. Cache still in hand, will replace ASAP. Plenty of cops still in the area.
Nice quick find after the long stroll to get here. Needed a cache for the day for our calendar and decided on this one. TFTC
After the success of last week's teambuilding mission, the request was made for another one, so I proposed a trip to the last Highbrook cache that I didn't have a smiley for. We parked at the funny little building to the north with a driveway and walked south. We were too focused on the hint and went to look further down than we needed, but that made it more of an adventure. I wanted the others to find this one, but in the end had to take control of the situation and put my hand where no one wanted to, and sure enough, there it was. Was quite far back though, so after we all signed, mikesonthecache rehid it slightly more within reach and re-covered with the hint item. Thanks for my final (for now) Highbrook smiley Trout-fly!
