But if a road trip today on the motorbike took us off the main road to this awesome spot. The wind farm is impressive with great views TFTC
Looked up at these from SH1 many times. About time I popes up to see them close. Tftc
Cool, calm and still sunny day to find this cache. So still that all but one of the windmills was completely motionless! Great view from here. Another place I've been to many times before I discovered geocaching but never really stopped to appreciate. Tftc.
On my way home. No wind at Lawrence but it is a different story up here. All good with the cache. Thanks
Thanks to an article in the ODT, we came this way on our drive from Balclutha to Lawrence and we weren't disappointed. It was amazing right up here amongst the turbines.
+ a marble, - nothing.

I hadn't realised that you could actually drive right by these impressive structures and had always seen them from afar. After driving up the Falla Burn Road, we saw that there was a cache here and look where it brought us! Lovely views of the surrounding area, too. Soon found the cache and signed log. A fav vote from me for bringing me up here. TFTC.
These are all spinning nicely today with a light breeze. What awesome machines. quick snag and grab here. Cheers.
Wednesday 11 November. Its Balclutha, Stirling, Tokomairiro, Waitahuna, Mt Stewart windfarm and back to Balclutha today. Lets get exploring.
Toby, Zara and I are on a 3 week geo adventure of Cromwell, Southland, Catlins, Balclutha with a day in Dunedin and quick stop in Timaru. With Lenny, my trusty navigator and TBD my companion/mascot. we managed to visit lots of green boxes, now happy faces with the odd sad one. Did some LABs , earth caches, virtuals and wherigos, all chucked into the mix to rack up 500 odd caches. Lots of kilometers, lots of exploring and lots of fun. Thanks to all COs for our wonderful experience.

Another cache that has been on the list for a long time. Had time for the drive up to claim this one today. #2040
Out for a drive, Mr 7 came here with his granddad and wanted to show me the "big fans". TFTC
Weekend geocaching inspired a drive up to the windfarm. Cool but crisp autumn day. Quick find. TFTC
What an awesome view from up here. Always wanted to come this way so glad I have. Not much with wind up here today but I can see there would be lots by the way the trees are bent over up here. TFTC
Great views. I'm sure that I could see the Hohonuis. Approaching the general area I could see why they chose this spot for the windmills as it really does stick up. Pick up a TB.
#214 lived in Milton for 18 years, moved prior to the turbines being installed. Having never been up this road before, I wasn't sure what to expect. What I got were spectacular views and the opportunity to marvel at some impressive technology up close. Favourite point from me, TFTC!
First time up this hill and while we couldn't get as near as the wind farm at Lk Onslow, they still look just as impressive. Found the cache and SL. Dropped down the other road into Waitahuna and missed a flock of loosey lambs and ewes out on the farm road. TFTC
Thought too far off the main road on a previous trip up the Manuka Gorge and passed this one by. We had some fun with the archived [Manuka tunnel](https://coord.info/GC4NQ26) cache that was still in place for logging and gained a smilee back then and made for the wind farm on a return to nail some DNF's and new caches up this way. Parked a wee bit far away and walked to the GZ, passing the 8 of the 9 towers still turning. We could see the Nuggets from one direction and another wind farm the other way. Those were pretty cool being able to walk right under them. Passed the fenced off ones here and found the cache. Cleaned some of the mud off and swapped some swag grabbed in a PVC baggy. This one is more regular than small. Took another road back to Waitahuna and passed some loosey lambs on the road. TFTC
I had the day off today so decided to head out and get some photographs of the local area. Also thought it would be a good chance to hit some caches again. I have been meaning to grab this one for some time now but never seemed to get the change. Its a lovely view from up here and the sound of just the windmills and no traffic is cool. Finding the cache was nice and easy with the co-ordinates being spot on. The cache its self is nice and dry with plenty of room in the logbook. Also a few swaps for the kids. Thanks as always for the effort, The Roaming Haywards.
Whenever we are in this area we are either in a rush to get to Central Otago or else just wanting to get home quickly so this cache has remained unfound for us for ages. Today we had plenty of time to get home so took a detour to find this cache. These sure are large structures and with the wind blowing a gale today they were spinning fast. An easy find and I note the last time it was found was nearly a year ago. The container is in good condition. TFTC
Found with dakotacats on our way home from a Easter camping trip. Soooo windy here today and freezing cold but kind of cool how close we were to the windmills. TFTC
#31 on a 3 day weekend of geocaching adventures down South. We have often driven up Central and seen these far away on the hill so it was great to go off the beaten track and see up close. Very impressive! Had to wait for muggles looking from up the road but once gone a quick find by J and a definite favourite for us. TFTC
We loved this cache, definitely a favourite for us. Thanks for bringing us here, we'd always wondered how to get to this wind farm. It was blowing a gale up here, seems like the perfect spot for a wind farm! TFTC.
Radionut had a work trip to the wind farm, and a few minutes to spare so dropping in to this fence post was not too difficult.
Thanks for the hide, another find for the Butterfly team.

Have never been this close before. Love the sound they make. Great idea putting a cache here thanks
Saw this cache and had to do it. Mrs A hadn't been up close to these huge turbines before, suprised they really don't make the noise every one says... An added bonus for Mr A was a logging operation across the road that answered the question .." how do they get the trailer on and off the rear of a logging truck...?" - answer - with the log loader that makes it look like its a twig!
Loved the noise they were making. Good that we could get so close to the turbines. The cache at the other wind farm on the way to Queenstown is a bit further away and you don't get the magnificence. TFTC
Found on 21/03/2015.
I've always liked the idea of wind turbines - always places with interesting views.

Awesome cache in an awesome spot. Great views today and our junior cacher loved the wind mills. It earns a fav point from us. [^]
Freezing cold in the wind and rain, but was still great to be up here for the first time. TFTC!
A bit of a detour off the main road for a closer look at these giants. Found with Aoraki Sheep.
I have often seen this wind farm from a distance but you, Muzzer, have bought me to the actual site. How impressive they are. Thanks.
I've seen these many times from the main road and today was the day to get a closer look.
It was full on at the GZ very windy, (funny that, eh?) and the blades were whistling away nicely.
The cache was a quick find. then it was back in the car and off, too cold to hang around for the views.

Last find with Chosen1978 on day trip into OF territory. A great cache location. After a good day caching in the area this was a highlight. All the turbines were operating today. It was a bit breezy today, nearly blew us off the mountain.
Great location and views on both sides, very windy and cold, stunning, thanks for the cache muzzer
Stew? Stu? A real main road here, used a lot by locals, and a great excuse to explore new country. This cache was our goal for the day, since we had seen these turbines from Tilting at Windmills above Mahinerangi http://www.geocaching.com/seek/cache_details.aspx?wp=GC3HX3H - yes, from here we could see those. Amazing views and the first snow of the year on the Old Man.
Easy once you find your way there. I went up Burma Rd. It's good to be able to get so close; they are larger than I ezpected.
This is a great location.
It was not a particularly windy day down low but up here the turbines were ticking away.
Still a lot of wind getting past them though.
I do enjoy these locations. Out of the way, interesting in their own right.
Bare, severe but beautiful.
Makes you appreciate the lower slopes.
SamWalkers caching with Mr Roo on the way to NZ Mega.

Absolutely no view today.Could only just see the wind turbine. Picked up & left Tag
Nice quick find and a impressive location for a cache. The view, the wind turbines and a cache!!!
One of the turbines was being serviced while we were there logging the cache.

An easy straightforward find on a windless day so no power generated to feed the national grid and the north island- oh dear, how sad.... HOTA
Blowing a gale today and the wind turbines were rocketing around. Great spot. Cheers!
Well worth the detour Took Adventure Guide TB

Tried taking some cool pics at the wind farm, but its a shame you can't get right up to the windmills like you can elsewhere. Dropped off TB. TFTC.
Awesome to get so close to these amazing beasts. Not that they would be much use today, a feather would fall straight to the ground. I guess it is not like that too often or the farm would not be here.cheers
7:13:00 PM12 No movement by any windmill today. We wondered if they had been commissioned yet,, probably not. I must do some Google research. However all nine look ready to go..
Thanks Muzzer

I would rather look at these than have another river valley destroyed by a dam.
Two and a half turbines erected so far, but they wouldn’t produce any electricity on an absolutely calm day like today. Superb views in all directions. TFTC
Found 12/9/11. It isn't hard today to see why this spot was chosen for a wind farm! Thanks for bringing us to this new development
The turbines would certainly be doing there job today if they were in action. Could hardly stand up in the wind.
