Beautiful day for a Sunday geocache took us a little while but eventually found it Tftc!

Yeeha! The Wild West is calling and Snips and Co and I are traversing along the Southern and Western Victorian borders.Today we will travel from Melbourne to Portland, hopefully finding a few geocaches in new LGAs and some scenic spots.Travelling here was lots of fun and we were able to enjoy the pretty scenery for quite awhile, as we were surrounded by cattle crossing the dirt road! the young farmer was friendly and we pondered what we would find here... on arrival there were signs stating that the water levels were too low for snorkelling but we could peer out to see the incredible plant life below easily. the turquoise colours and clear water was mesmerizing. through the tall reed like plants we walked towards ground zero and it was with sheer wonderment that these ponds exist and were discovered in amongst the reedy paddocks! at the next jetty, the view was even better and it took a lot of willpower to refrain from diving in - this will definitely be a bucket list place to visit again and swim.snips and co put my day dreaming back on track and found the geocache in a good condition.thanks for sharing this marvellous location and maintaining this older geocache.

This is a magical place, a must see on your caching journey.KristysAdventures and I headed a little out of our way to find this one. It was on our list of caches, not for its amazing beauty, which was unknown to me, but for its age.We came down the dirt road to see signs indicating the ponds were closed. Im pretty sure they were referencing snorkelling and diving, so we kept on going. This even intrigued me, who would have thought you could scuba dive in a pond! It was sunny and quiet when we arrived at the parking waypoint and we jumped out of the car to wander down to the pontoon. WOW. Just WOW. I could not believe the sight before me. We admired our surroundings, took photos and then headed the few hundred metres to GZ. At GZ I was mesmerised; completely in awe of the beauty of this pond. It was quite some time before we even remembered what we were there for. Then for the hunt, which didnt take long. Thank you Alex for maintaining this cache and showing us this little gem, a fav point from me

Wow, this place was magical. There's a sign saying it's currently closed, but we guessed that it is meant for snorkelling and diving. After parking near the toilets, we made a short walk along the grassy path. At GZ, I found the cache in the second or third place I looked. Thanks for keeping this one alive. It is great discovering older caches, as they seem to be placed in more interesting (and unknown) places.

A big day of milestones planned starting with my 8000th find as well as completing my Ausmer and later completing my 8th D/T loop. We left Portland this morning Expecting to get up past Millicent before heading home to Geelong. We made it to Ewen's Pond Parking spot and the weather was hit and miss. We had driven through some great sunshine but that had changed with a a chilling wind and some rain so I rugged up for the walk to GZ. A bit of a hunt in what looked like the best spot for the hide only to come up empty. My second spot to look however was much more fruitful were I was happy to sign my 8000th logbook.Thank you Alex for keeping this golden Oldie going

The second day of a road trip with Sims_Family travelling from Portland, Port Macdonell and over to Millicent to work our way through the SPE Challenge series and some of the Finding a Fish series too.Cache: The location just looked like any other pond, until seeing through the clear water to the under water landscape, amazing! The cache was located in the less obvious location to celebrate Sims_Familys #8,000th find. An amazing location to do it. Log signed and replaced as found. Thanks for the traditional cache Alex #8,

Took a (5 hour) detour on my way home from a road trip to get this cache as I needed it for my Ausmer. An interesting area that I wouldn't have visited if it wasn't for Geocaching. No snorkelling or scuba-ing allowed at the moment due to low water levels. An easy find.SL TNLN TFTC

We are travelling with richlink on our Annual Caravan Geocaching trip, using geocaching as our guide. We are in Beautiful Mt Gambier for a few days, soaking up the amazing things this area has to offer. We especially love the bush, back roads, and the wild southern seas. TFTC LNCU.

18-Mar-24
This was my second trip from Millicent in three days to get this cache. On my first trip I had just worked out where the cache might be and I heard voices. It was scuba divers surfacing and sitting in sight of GZ. They obviously weren't going to move on and then two other muggles arrived. Back at he car park two more scuba divers were getting ready to go in and another car load of visitors arrived so I gave up any chance of a find. Today a very early start arrived to find the area free of muggles so I was able to make the find uninterrupted. Another month off my Ausmer Challenge done.

After over seven weeks on the road, I'm back home and slowly catching up on all my logging.Caching in South Australia was fantastic, so many good hides to find, and we found ourselves zigzagging all over the place doing lots of geoart but of course ran out of time to get everything done on our to-do list. The majority of caches we found were in great condition and well maintained, which is a credit to all the CO's who placed them, so thank you.Our logs were mostly signed as 5 or 6 for QLD to save room on the log sheets, and no doubt, we'll be back again in the future

Still in and around Mt Gambier visiting areas and picking up caches as we go.This one sure had an interesting walk to it.Caching with and signing as 5 for QLD including RoddyC hatzofff Imbunda snickersallan and grannysmith1947.TFTCache Alex

We rolled into Mt Gambier from Adelaide quite late in the afternoon. We checked in, dumped our bags and headed straight here. This was a quick stop on the way to a dinner event at Port MacDonnell. It was a beautiful time of the day to visit and we had a very peaceful stroll along the reeds to the platform jetty at the end (apart from the cows, whose life we scared out of them on our approach). We spent a few minutes at both ends admiring the stillness and clarity before taking note of the info boards and heading off. If not for the oldie here we would have completely missed this location, so YAY that its here. Signed as the SADDLE club for Shazzar66, AtTheLakeHouse, Duppers Delightful Leap Excursion - or something like that!

Travelling with stensbye. We will stay two weeks in Australia. After four days in Adelaide we are now on the way to Melbourne and we had a stop here. We signed as TA. Thank you for this cache.

Find # 26 775This cache: Our second cache of the day!Drove frome Mt Gambier, to see if we could find this old cache, for etergs Hidden Month/Jasmer calendar, and to my "old cache collection".We parked at the obvius place, met several scuba-divers, so we walked on, and soon we was at GZ.A little search, and eterg had found it!!MAIN LOG MONDAY MARCH 4TH 2024AUSTRALIA TOUR - DAY 6eterg and me - stensbye - are visiting all the way from Norway, first of all to attend the Mega-event in Adelaide on Leap day!Wich we did!We also attended several other events, and found some old caches, some virtuals, earthcaches, Labs, and whatever that came in our way, if we had the time.We met a lot of warm, welcoming people, who came to us to speak, giving us alot of tips, and help! This Mega-event in Adelaide, and the surrounding events, more Geocachers has come to speak to me/uson these few events, than all other events together! Almost 300 so far!Not counting excisting geocaching-friends that is!So cudos to all participants and co/eo! Well done!!That is now two days history, and today was time to make new history!Teres a lot of old caches here in Australia, so i picked those who filled the holes in etergs hidden month/Jasmer-calendar,wich i think and hope shes happy about!Today we got to Ballarat, from Mt Gambier, about 200 km before Melbourne, from Adelaide, and yet again we tried the "Golden Ocean Road",wich supposed to be nice.Well, we are from Norway, so it dindt impress us. At all. But today we got a view over the ocean for a while. We hoped to get to Melbourne today, but that plan fell apart, so we try again tomorrow. From Ballarat were heading the other direction, for about 25 km, for yet another old cache, before we give a shot at Melbourne. If youre cache is receiving this log, that means we visited it, found it,signed it - unless if it was a Virtual ofcourse - as TA = Team Avensis, wich was eterg and me, and replaced it!Thank you all for all the caches!Greetings from Norway!TA = Team Avensis = eterg and stensbye

Im currently on the great novo Leap Day road trip of 2024 which starts in the north east of VIC and heads to Mildura via Echuca and Swan Hill, then on into SA through the Riverland and Barossa before heading to Adelaide for [The Leap Day event](https://coord.info/GL1BKDZBZ), and then the Adelaide Hills and greater ADL area for some cache cherry-picking before heading south to Millicent via the Fleurieu Peninsula. This is probably the biggest geocaching road trip I have undertaken to date with around 200 finds planned!Starting to head south now for the leg home but had to make this detour and come find these alex stashes. A very interesting location here and probably the last place I would have expected to see scuba diving ...but what would I know. Cache found and log signed. TFTC, alex.#1930

AtTheLakeHouse, Shazzar66 and I are visiting South Australia from Brisbane. Our primary motive was to attend the Adelaide Leap Day Mega, but we also had a long but well-curated list of caches to find. These included Oldies, good D/T caches, Challenge caches and caches with high Favourite Points. This location, having an Old cache, was definitely on our list, but for more reasons than just the cache. ATLH had pre-organised a guided snorkel at Kilsby Sinkhole. Additionally, Im a scuba diver and I had booked a scuba dive at Kilsby Sinkhole, but had to cancel as we didnt have time for both ATLH and I to jump in the water at Kilsby Sinkhole, due to the scheduling. They put the snorkelers in the water from 12-2pm and the divers from 2-4pm, and we didnt have 4 hours to spare. I had heard from my diving friends that Ewens Pond was actually a better scuba diving location anyway. Oh well, maybe another time. It certainly would have been a (cold) experience. We arrived at the car park late in the day, as we had travelled from Adelaide, via several caches that were on our list. Walking to GZ, the cache was quickly to hand and we enjoyed looking at the amazingly clear water. As the sun started descending, we enjoyed the beautiful sunset as we headed back to the car.The cache was signed, SADDLE Club, our team name for the Mega. Thanks, Alex, for placing a cache here to highlight this unique area.

Find # 11449Well here it is, time for another MEGA, and an extra special one to. Its a leap year! So before the main event I decided Id head down to Millicent and surrounds to collect some geoart, and some of the all important (to me) SFE challenges Day 4 and with all the above achieved, time to move on from Millicent. Headed south to Mt Gambier then back up north, caching for counties, oldies, Jasmer gaps, and anything else my travels took me to along the way. What a beautiful spot. The water is absolutely crystal clear. Hardly anyone here today just a couple of divers, but thats about it so quick easy and fine for me. Thanks alex for Ewens Ponder

**Today:**Found with DSDMy first ever day in South Australia ??Woke up in Mount Gambier today with no real destination, but a big list of caches! Ended up just up the road in Millicent, but still several hundred kilometres travelled as we detoured down to the coast! The biggest goal of today, and the entire trip, was finishing my AUSMER! We found not only one, but two caches in my final month I needed! Its been a multi-year challenging journey, so good for it to be finished! ---**This Cache:**I have been waiting years to find this cache!!!! Very Happy and the chance finally arose! With the SA Leap Day mega, I planned a road-trip and Ewans Ponder + Lady Nelsons View were my top priority caches for the ENTIRE trip! I would finally finish my AUSMER after working on it for many years! The excitement was high as we walked through the long reeds towards GZ. Just before we got there, we ran into a group of snorkelers walking back along the track after they had completed their swim. They were fully decked out, I wouldnt have wanted to be them carrying those tanks back out! Spent a while looking for the cache and started getting a bit worried, but there were two sections off the walkway that obviously had been trampled by geocachers. The more trampled spot didnt end up housing the cache, but we soon uncovered the cache in the second trampled location! Woooohooo AUSMER completed! TFTC, FAVOURITE will be added, but I have run out at the moment, so have added this to a list and will come back to add it asap EDIT: FP added 6/3/24

6 months ago, during a frenzy, we said to ourselves "why not going to the mega in Adelaide for the leapday". From scratch we moved on to preparing an 18-day project in Australia. Our objectives are simple, visit a small part of this immense continent while validating a few caches. There are so many caches (impossible to do everything) that we will select. Our plan will allow us to visit Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, Mount Gambier and finish in Adelaide for the famous Mega.During our stay we will log PestiHoot for Pestinette and Blackhoot. After a night AT Mount Gambier, WE take road. WE do some stop for some cache.Cache easy. Thanks for the oldies. Thanks for cache and the discovery of beautiful or original spots

Muggle65 and l are on our way to the Leap Year Mega in Adelaide. Such a long drive but thankfully we have a few cache stops. Felt like we had the place to ourselves till half a dozen divers surfaced. We got out of there quick smart. Thank you for the break and the fun ??

An oldie lured *Filser1* and me to this great area. We had to wait on site until all the muggles had disappeared. Then we managed to get in quickly.T4TC

Found while making our way home from an enjoyable weekend in the area. Cache logged however it only contained 8 logs from 2017 so we are unsure whether we may have found a missing one? TFTC.

SESA tour. We had this targeted because of its age and location. We took the traditional walk in as the scuba option is closed for Spring (also it's too cold and we didn't bring the equipment from Vic). After a bit of searching and de- vegetation of seed pods from clothing and moving some weeds, we found the cache. Thanks to all who worked to keep this cache alive. Thanks for the fun - favourite awarded

27-Oct-23
Appears to be recent slashing and grass cutting in area. Following instructions "You do not need to leave the path/boardwalk or damage any vegetation to retrieve this cache but muggles could be a problem", didn't find this one.

11-Oct-23

SL at 1:40pm. I decided to do some caching today. I saw that there were a few new caches down in Port Mac. Why is it that I always make the wrong decision on how to get to a cache? Dang it. There was only one campervan here when I arrived. Nice and quiet here today. Enjoyed the walk to the cache. Finding the cache was a little tricky but who knew I would get in on the planking craze! Just as well there were not any muggles around here cause they would have seen a strange creature from the dark depths of the pond beach itself on the boardwalk!
*Warning - some of my photos are graphic*
*TFTC Alex and the challenge!

Day 7 of our loop through Vic and SA then home.

Today was our first day caching with albida, Sol de lune & smittengranny. We signed as MAFSS to save room. Some of us may have rebelled and signed FAMSS instead. It was a bit dreary and windy but we didn’t get too wet.

The aim was to collect a couple of counties, old caches to finish my Ausmer calendar, and just to have fun.

All caches were found quickly and easily unless otherwise mentioned.

This one has been on our list for a while given its age. Was great to finally be here and find today. There were a few divers getting out of the pond and once they left we could have a good look around. Sol looked in a place I hadn't quite searched properly!

12-Apr-23
30,521. Found with minniek, albida33, Sol de lune, smittengranny (signing either as FAMSS or MAFSS to save room and just for fun). After the hordes around Rutherglen it was good to drop down to a group of 5.

Rutherglen Mega and South Australia Trip Day 7. Today we had a full day to explore around the Mt Gambier region, with a few older caches targeted plus many others on our list. First up was this old cache, and what a spectacular locations it's in. The water was so inviting, and plenty of people were taking advantage of that. We managed to locate the cache in between diving muggled (diggles??) and it was not in the most obvious location and can be found without leaving the boardwalk. Signed, replaced, then we headed off to the next one on our list.

Thanks Alex !! Fav Point !

Southern Autumn adventure Day 8. Post Mega South East SA trip Day 2. After a driving day yesterday to wrap up the mega weekend, today was a trip from Mount Gambier down to the southern coast line with Sol de Lune, Smitten Granny, Fitzy_1965, MinnieK and me (albida33). F.A.M.S.S was the initial in the logs today. Our goal in this region was to visit the two old caches out this way and a few others that are nearly as old. We also managed about ten Earth caches and even went for a walk or two. We ended the day with caching and LABs around Mount Gambier before retiring for a home cooked meal at the caravan park.

This was priority number one and we found it first. There was a dive group preparing at the car park and two people came out from their snorkel while we were at GZ. It is a tricky hide and not where the gap might indicate, but was found without venturing off the boardwalk. The lake look amazing, and I would love to go for a snorkel one day.

Thanks for the cache alex

Headed to Mount Gambier after the Rutherglen Mega with fitzy_1965, Albida33, Minniek, and Smittengranny. We signed all logs as FAMSS.

We targeted a few older caches, a few multi's, a few puzzles always as well as a couple of earthcaches.......and really anything else we had time for.

This one was a must do and after a short search the cache was in hand. Log signed and we were soon heading back along the trail.

Thanks Alex....certainly a great area here. Fav point for the fun.

One thing I Iike about caching, apart from scrabbling around for small containers, is that I discover places I hadn’t heard of. Ewen Ponder fills the last spot for 2001 for me, and so I’d earmarked it as a must do while in SA this Easter. Reading a bit more, I thought the whole family would enjoy the snorkelling.

We didn’t enjoy it. We loved it. At the end, wet and exhilarated, I followed sharkiefan’s advice and made the find. Thanks Alex for maintaining this all this time.

What an interesting place. It was amazing to see such crystal clear water, and even though the weather was not at all warm today, there were a few brave souls who were making their way through the three ponds with their snorkelling gear and wetsuits on.
We decided to walk to GZ, rather than snorkel today.
A beautiful grassy path and a good search soon had our name signed in this lovely old Hide.
We are grateful that this one still exists, it is a very special place, and we add a favourite point.
Thanks Alex

We were here - Joodie & Joodax
after work walk, wine and relax!
Alex Thanks for the cache and yellow dandelion.

Yesterday I arrived at Apollo Bay with all my might. I dragged my suitcases into the room, took a shower and fell into bed. Joodie said she told me she was going to buy something to eat, but he was already asleep. Not long after, I woke up with a chill. Joodie came back with hot food from the take away, but I wasn't interested at all. We turned to our doctor for advice. Fortunately, we managed to get in touch with her. After the consultation, I swallow a combination of pills that we have with us and which I would never dare to combine . I feel like a king in the morning
While waiting for her food, Joodie dug out the cash. It's funny that right here with snakes in the title. We will drive for her. I have to go to the thicket alone . In the end, however, Joodie finds her anyway. When she saw her, she performed a backflip that no kangaroo would take.
We're off to Kingston. In Lavers Hill we set up for muffins and a little further on we set up for drive-in cash. Next up is the coastal madness of the 12 Apostles and all the surrounding places which are absolutely breathtaking. But I don't have time to log it now.
We navigate our way to this box using maps because Waze doesn't know it here. Well, here we unfortunately met a snake. Joodie jumped bravely behind me with a small squeal, where she waited very excitedly to see what would happen. I waited until the frightened snake disappeared into the undergrowth, I labeled it a harmless snake, and we walked peacefully to the car. Unfortunately, Joodie found that it wasn't a snake ... well, I won't describe it
And I'm really happy that we found this great-grandmother. And that it was before the snake.
******************************************************
Do houští musím sám . Nakonec ji ale stejně nachází joodie z cesty. Když ji uviděla, předvedla skok vzad, za který by se nemusel žádný klokan.
Vyrážíme do Kingstone.
No a tady jsme potkali bohužel hada. Joodie skočila s drobným jeknutám statečně za moje záda, kde velmi rozrušená čekala co se bude dít. Počkal sem, až vyděšený had zmizí v porostu, označil sem ho za neškodnou užovku a pokojně jsme došli k vozu. Bohužel si joodie našla, že to užovka nebyla ... no nebudu to rozmazávat
A vůbec mám radost, že jsme tuhle prababičku našli. A že to bylo před hadem.

OCW PelDroedGwin and geodog Peppa

This one was a must find for my AUSMER grid.

Parked up short as a Peppa wasn’t allowed into the area then I headed to GZ first whilst PDG sat with Peppa.

Looks interesting even from above the water!

Once I was down to 2 metres I started my search but only found I had picked up a few hitchhiker leeches, once them were removed I went back to searching for the cache and soon had CIH.

So happy to have this one as a smilie.

Tftc

I came out here this morning with my last Australian jasmer grid cache to find and made the satisfying find at just before 9am. It’s been a long journey to SA and down to these caches but I am very glad I’ve made the effort this summer. It was a lovely morning at 17 deg and overcast. I appreciated the public loo in the parking area and saw a blue tongue lizzard on my walk back. I said good morning fella and left him to his own business. No muggles or other people out. TFTC

Whilst we were in Millicent, another member of the group mentioned that he was going to look for a cache (or two) that was placed in 2001. The date made my ears prick up and I asked what/where and GC please. We were lucky as it was on our way home with only a small detour. We arrived to find three muggle divers just loading themselves with all needed. Two of them were super keen and took off whilst the other locked everything up. This gave us a window to find, sign and return the cache. Thanks for bringing us here with the cache.

GT37 was very excited to be looking for such old caches. I am pleased for her, as we did find it even though there were three divers going into the lake system here. We talked to them for quite a while and one of them was familiar with caching. Thank you for placing this cache and maintaining it for so long.

We were heading to Mt Gambier with Superpop to do some xmas shopping and thought that we would have another try at this one after two previous visits that we were muggled out of.

The area to gz has been freshly mown and maintained, probably because the snorkeling activities reopened yesterday. We were a little bit concerned about muggles as there were quite a few cars in the car park but happily most of them turned out to be in the close pond and end if there were any in the second pond they were out of sight so we were free to search.

Happily the container was found in the third place we looked and our names are now in the log book. It's great to finally get this golden oldie.

Many thanks Alex for keeping this going, a favourite point for the area and the age of the cache.

After a huge week away, beginning in the Little Desert and eventually crossing the border into SA for some caching in the Millicent area it was time to head home. Home of course via a whole heap of caches, a little more targeted than the initial few days.

We toured some local caches first before everyone went their separate ways. The group today included Team Crackers, Papi4506, GeoTurtle37, micaparamedic, chooknchunk, Goodlook and myself, at least for the morning anyway.

I have had this cache on my target list for some time due to its Ausmer properties. It’s was way past the time I should have crossed the border on the way home but had to get this cache. ETA home is now 1am. Oh well.

I took the lovely quiet stroll out to the cache with the sun sitting low in the sky. The cache was found quickly and the log book signed. Woo Hoo… AUSMER almost complete.

Thanks alex for adding this cache to the worldwide collection for us all to enjoy.

Took me ages to find this one!

Searched everywhere at least three times.

Eventually sent some messages to PFs and got a response with a hint.

There it was! In a place I had definitely looked!

Thanks to the CO for this cache and thanks to the PF to come to my rescue!

Cache 9340 on 3 Oct 2022.

Road trip! Joined ZQX, Fox in Jox and TikvaNZ in taking advantage of a long weekend in the ACT to head to Victoria and South Australia for 4 days. We had planned this trip 2 years ago, but it did not happen for obvious reasons, so now getting it underway. Our goal is to pick up some old caches, get counties and get some interesting DT combinations!

Today: day 3 travelling from Mount Gambier to Bendigo. We had to backtrack slight to Millicent to collect some challenges as we ran out of time yesterday. Today is about challenges, some older caches and more counties!

What a lovely spot! So glad there was an old cache here to bring us to this amazing feature.

Thanks alex for the cache and the fun! Have a fav point!

Many a trip to Millicent was planned, locked out or down. More recently a plan was hatched for 4 of us to attend but enroute our number dropped to 3 which meant so re shuffling and re prioritising.
We (PPE and Crash 2079) held our own event, Grumpy Over Millicent or better known in our vocabulary as GOM amongst other TLA’s of the same acronym. It was great to meet some of the locals.
Many an adventure was had with TOTTs of various types. The weather left a bit to be desired with fleeting bursts of sun but mostly wind, over cast and plenty of rain but we still managed to hoist poles and ladders and climb trees.
Today was a bit more of a road trip despite the rain. Very lucky to see a Koala on the way in (see pic attached). Interesting lakes and clarity but took too long to find the cache but being an old school one we were not going to give up.
We completed the signing duties and re hid. TFTC.

GOMs do Millicent - Day 3

After our plans to attend the Mega were cancelled by COVID, the stars finally aligned and saw **bella at waggy**, **Purplepeopleater** and myself jetting off early on Friday morning. With such a variety of targets on our list, we needed to bring an assortment of TOTTs via oversize baggage.

Today was all about mopping up as many of the remaining caches on our hit list as we could, including visiting some 2001 caches and a few new LGAs. We travelled as far south as Port MacDonnell and returned via Mount Gambier and Penola. Lots of driving and quite a bit of rain on and off.

After some fantastic fish & chips in Port M, we braved the weather to venture to this golden oldie. What an interesting area and how very clear the water was even with all the rain. We spent quite a bit of time searching here until PPE came up with the goods

Mrs Dromaniax, asked if we should go camping as we have A'Tuin the geomobile back and we had received some bad news about about our beautiful geodog Gypsy Girl.

So we jumped into A'Tuin and Joey and headed West, destination South Australia. We almost to our destination and we noticed this lovely old cache and it meant another instance of us having found a cache in two states in the one day.

We are so glad that these older caches are still being maintained. The cache is in excellent condition. Thank you for this cache Alex.

Bunadoorian and I are on our way to Beachport and when I was planning our trip I was looking for caches for certain dates placed and for big favourite points. This one was on my list as it was placed on a date that I required to fill my calander. Well this place was totally unexpected. As we were walking up to the cache a couple were walking back who had snorkelled down to the platform. It was quite cool compared to yesterday so I was pleased to see them in their wetsuits. The water was so clear when we got to the platform.

Well we searched all around the place and after reading previous logs I thought I would take Sharkiefan's comment and became a plank. OH yes - I found it.
TFTC and for bringing us here Alex.

Found with FUF009.
2 years on and we finally made it back to Millicent. It's been top of the destination list since we were here last time. Pity we missed the Mega.

Today we drove around the coast and just did the caches we came across, that we could access.
A nice day in a nice part of the country.

Honestly, we PAFed everyone, still couldn't make the find.
Then I made like a plank and found it in a place that had already been looked at.

I desperately wanted to get in the water here. So fresh looking. Tftc

Find # 10426

Found with sharkiefan.

Back in SA, caching around the area with out base being Millicent.
It was 2 years ago on the March long weekend we were last over here. (That was pre covid/lockdown days.)
We had a great time, back then, and when we got home it was only 20days later Vic went into full covid lockdown mode.

The world has changed somewhat since then, but caching still gets us out n about.

And it is kind of fitting that we are back here for a planned interstate caching trip to get us both back into an area we enjoy (not ta mention I always enjoy the SA caches n trails)

This trip we are both armed with some new gear for the new trails. And i had a few caches targeted to help achieve some challenges and stats.

Once again it was a great little break from the norm of life back home.

Another of the Feb 2001 caches that were on my list to find. Such a cool area too. Gz was a little tricky as we used up a couple of Pafs. And got it in the end.

Day Two of the delayed Millicent Mega, and with many attendees still yet to arrive, I made today the day for Mt. Gambier and Grant LGA caching. I did some study and then some work in Mt Gambier many years ago, and today was fun revisiting old haunts, now as a geocacher.

The second of two old alex caches back to back. While the last one was a struggle to get to, this one was like a walk across the lawn. We’re currently in the “no swimming” period for the ponds, so I had the place to myself and got into some very contorted positions before finally finding the cache.

A great spot, thanks alex.

Doing a bit of caching today with ilook4geo, between Mount Gambier and Port MacDonnell way. The morning was fairly good with some sun and just some light rain. That changed later on when the rain arrived yet again. We did as many caches as we could first up and overall had a reasonable day.
We took a little longer to pinpoint this one but eventually came up with the goods. Thanks go to Alex for placing this cache.

Had a good day's caching with goingplaces2and found a mix of multi caches, traditionals, earth caches and old ones. It was fun and we were happy to add another smiley for each one to our caching map. Many thanks go to each CO for adding to the caching game.

An extra long weekend caching trip with n0w0rries from Warrnambool to Port MacDonnell.
Today we headed out to the north picking up caches as we go. This was our main target for today as well as some solved puzzles and caves we wanted to visit.
What an amazing location. As we arrived there were a pair of divers also from Victoria, packing away their scuba gear. Also a couple of international tourists (not something you see everyday anymore)
Quite a while was spent looking for the cache since we didn't want to give anything away to the muggles. Found at last. Cache in good order. Signed and replaced.
Thank you for placing and maintaining this cache for all these years Alex. The third of yours for this trip. Big Grin

Thanks for the golden oldie.

It was a bit cloudy when we started out on our walk to GZ for this historic cache. Divers were coming and going, but nobody else was interested in this cache. Arriving close to GZ we heard an enormous splash, so had to investigate before searching for the cache. There were a couple of divers diving into the water. I ventured onto to the jetty after we’d found the cache and tried to take a photo of the fish and water weeds you could see. Finding the cache was not easy. We jumped off the boardwalk where others seem to have with no joy there. We searched other places and got desperate enough to try a PAF, which was useful. You can indeed reach it without leaving the boardwalk but you may need to lie down with head over the edge and a bit of a stretch. Not easy, but fun.

Came to check cache today. Cache is in the original position as I found it in 2016. Still in good condition. All good to be found.

Shortly, the cache location will be checked by a previous finder to confirm its true status (it has often been missed in the past), replaced if necessary and then possibly it will be adopted by a local who is better able to maintain it for the years to come. Watch this space.

26-Apr-21
I suspect (hope) this is still in place, it can be a difficult cache to locate.

Given the age of this cache and its importance, if I can assist any future finders in being able to locate this cache please contact me for details of where it is located.

Unfortunately I live too far to do anything myself but would like to see this rectified in a positve outcome to retain this cache.
