Beautiful spot, took a while to find the right tree ( which is disgraceful after 4weeks in NZ)
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit & doing the things that we want to do we were visiting the Bay of Islands for a few days & we decided that we needed to explore the Russell area while here, we thought we should grab the two Ad Labs & a cache or two this one was easily found, albeit after a bit of an uphill/downhill climb, logbook completed & replaced pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN:LN:SL #5,037 for Us!
Anchored out from the town today. Great day for a walk about the area and find a few caches. Thanks!
I was poking around in the trees looking for this geocache, when a man came by carrying gear. He is one of the guys who checks the traps for invasive species (not sure of his official title). He asked what I was doing. I told him I was geocaching. He immediately dropped his gear and offered to help. He said it would be good for him to know where the cache was so he could help people find it - hes in the area every week. He had it in hand within 5 minutes. He geared back up and wished us a pleasant journey. We awkwardly wished him a pleasant time removing invasive species. He assured us that he very much enjoys doing so. What a great encounter with a friendly local Resident. Thank you for placing this geocache. I am visiting from San Antonio, Texas. USA.
Had decided not to try this path on the way out as it looked like we might get wet feet but all well with the tide on the way back Fascinating rocks covered in "strange" seaweed and the remains of hundreds of rock oysters.
Came over to Russell on our lazy Noordam cruise from Auckland to Sydney. Lovely view from up here. TFTC.
Walking back into Russell having been out walking in the hills. Quick find at GZ and a lovely view. TFTC
During our roundtrip in beautiful New-Zealand we found multiple caches on both islands. This was one of the caches. To all caches owners: TFTC !!
We checked the whole surrounding and found nothing. The last find seems to be very long ago.
Found with stairman1. We heard a kiwi on the way in but couldn’t track him down. There are noisy neighbours above which might have scared him. Beautiful spot. We can see our Airbnb across the way.TFTC
Staying in Russell for a couple of days we decided to do the Heritage Trails. Found this one on the way up from the town centre. We were muggled by an Aussie couple but I decided to keep talking and divert their attention from the open cache on the bench. I think I got away with it.
Dropped off the TB from Yorkshire

Managed to sneak a window of opportunity between passing showers which have been going on for days now. Now to out wait the muggles
TFTC it was a cool place to find but forgot a pen but we compromised and used mud and a stick .
On a random Contiki tour through NZ and saw a chair that looked like a good spot for a cache, what do you know?!
After a few attempts (as the cache had gone missing!) we found it! Thanks for the great cache, we really enjoy the walk and the view
Staying in Russell with friends we went for a bush walk, very peaceful. After a short look around the cache was in hand. Log us full. Thanks
Staying upon Russell with friends for a few days and this was an after breakfast walk. Lovely view from here. Of note : Full log and it was closer to the seat than I thought. Thanks for bringing me here, TFTC
The first of the year, while staying close by for the summer hols. Long time sin e I've seen a traditional cache container!! TFTC
Nice bush walk with cache, seat and view at the destination. Park at the end of Titore Way and take Flagstaff loop track.
Great walk to this beauty. Forgot a pen so took a pic of the seat to show I was there. TfTC
We have made hard work of getting to Flagstaff Hill with up hill and down dale to and fro paths, but it is all worth it for the exercise and of course bagging this particular cache. Thanks to the cache owner.
1224. 10:00 am. eKitten went up the hill for the quick find while admired the view. FP. TFT(wharf view)C.
Some great walks around Russell, saw a number of birds on our walk. Great little hide.
Thanks for the cache
Thanks for the cache
#2 leaping! Glad we made the hike down! Tough hide. Nicely done! I think I must have touched it at least three times. It seemed like the perfect spot to keep looking and it was. Have to admit....RaptorKing350 was the true finder! TFTC!
Decided to take the beach route down from the flag and nice to have a cache near the route. This one took me a few minutes but persistance paid off. I'll give it a fav on leap year day! SL TNLN TFTC!
Had a good search but grumpy toddler meant we had to abandon. Worth the walk though!
Great to have a little rest and enjoy the view, cache safe and well. Thanks!
With two possible FTFs up for grabs in the Fladgate Reserve, the call was made for a quick trip north to Tapeka. It was such lovely spring weather today, so once the FTFs were successfully ticked off, I decided to look for a few more around the area.
After a short walk down the track, I was soon at the seat and shortly after, the cache was in hand. Signed the log and then replaced securely as found. Back at the car, I was amazed to see to large wekas close to the car, who were posturing and circling each other. Not sure if it was courtship of territorial defense. TFTC

Found on a wet day, eventually walked Around from Russel along the beach and up. Sun came out just as we got there! Also 5 metres is very generous! Tftc!
I'm from Switzerland and spend 4 months in New Zealand on vacation. Found this cache after a few minutes search, thanks.
This is our first full day on our 16 day cruise. The Bay of Islands is our first destination. Crime and eight! Someone took way too long.

Quite some walk up, but then a quick find. Our gentleman cacher (French cuff shirt, polished shoes etc) found the cache in no time at all once shown what a manuka tree looked like... TFTC
Lovely bush walk and great views of ferry from seat. Replaced cache here. Cheers
Thursday - day Thirteen - Kerikeri - Russell with The Seagnoid , toby and William. Zara gets to rest up in KeriKeri.
Its another epic 3+ week geocaching adventure with The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and Willam to the Far North. What an amazing place to explore. Lots of walks, gravel roads and sand. Lots of amazing trees, beaches and interesting POIs. Lots of kilometers traveled by vehicle and foot. Vehicle breakdowns, making new friends and catching up with old friends and family. Snagged a couple of FTF's, lots of lonely caches and the odd event along the way. Lots of cache maintenance and replaced caches on this trip. But what an incredible adventure!!. Thanks to all the CO's who have made this trip so memorable..

Ihad found this many years ago - Brought Taybeedragon along so as not to have any of those nasty green splodges on her map.
Sadly couldn't find this one not sure whether it's still here or wether we were not looking in the correct place
