Found it on the way back down from the caves, but unfortunately forgot to bring a pen.
On our eleventh day in New Zealand we drive from Picton Tasman. This beautiful cache was on our way.TFTCHennesAt the end comes the poem of the day.New Zealand By James K. Baxter (for Monte Holcroft)These unshaped islands, on the sawyers bench,Wait for the chisel of the mind,Green canyons to the south, immense and passive,Penetrated rarely, seeded onlyBy the deer-cullers shot, or else in the northTribes of the shark and the octopus,Mangroves, black hair on a boxers hand. The founding fathers with their guns and bibles,Botanist, whaler, added bones and namesTo the land, to us a bridleAs if the id were a horse: the swampy townsLike dreamers that struggle to wake,Longing for the poets truthAnd the lovers pride. Something new and oldExplores its own pain, hearingThe rains choir on curtains of grey mossOr fingers of the Tasman pressingOn breasts of hardening sand, as actorsFind their own solitude in mirrors,As one who has buried his dead,Able at last to give with an open hand.
Nice history behind this one. Quick find on a great walk to a beautiful cave, tftc!
Were here to visit the caves, and thought to find some geocaches while here. Found with reydudes. TFTC!
We holiday here a lot and we didnt know these caves existed. While a tough climb up it was well worth it - a local treasure. Love the camouflage.
Together with Travelser I'm going Down Under. We are driving around with a motorhome. After 7 weeks driving around through Australia we arrived the 2th November in New Zealand. For ten days we will cross the Northern Island and than for 2 weeks the Southern Island.During our trip we of course search for several caches. Most of them brought us to very nice spots, like this one.All the CO's, and in this case Alien Kiwis, thanks for bringing us here and give our trip a special accent.
After traveling around Australia with Oopie for 7 weeks, we have now been traveling with the camper in New Zealand for 4 weeks. Along the way we will of course also visit various types of caches in beautiful places, including this one. Thanks CO for creating and laying this cache.
Last cache for us in this area. Another quick find. Sadly some think this is a great place to hide to go loo! Loved this cache container also, some good craft work has gone into making these. Thanks for another fun hide in the cave vicinity. The chikins from Brisbane
Very interesting story of this boxGreetings from the Czech Republic and Thanks For This Cache.

Lately I’ve really been appreciating the nice easy fines, especially the ones that have a really clever camera on them.
Container is still talk to a and its place and he’s in a good state. A little camo falling off…
Thanks!

Hot drink at the van when I get back. Already turning into an adventure. Half way down the gravel confronted by tractor with a dead skinned cow. Had to reverse back to the corner. See what else we get today.

A day spent exploring & caching around GB, was a goodie! Lots of firsts for me Short walks I've been meaning to do but never seem to find time, we did this weekend Spectacular scenery right on my back door, how lucky are we!
This walk to the Rawhiti Cave is MAGIC & I highly recommend! I only found out about it recently & I'm so glad we went. Spectacular cave & worth the short climb Amazing wildlife encountered on the walk up to the cave

A generous sized cache and a nice little teaser before the uphill we were about to encounter. We saw great wildlife on our walk, a few goats on the upper track and some wood pigeons before that. Well camoed, good coords, TFTC alien kiwis.
Our second day in Pohara, and today we are exploring a few spots with some short walks. The Labyrinth Rocks, Rawhiti cave and Grove Scenic Reserve were all on the agenda and visited in the morning and early afternoon, then we headed around to Tata Bay and beyond for some park and grabs. Great weather, some really cool spots. Thanks all.

Found with Tregearp whist exploring the area and on our way up to the caves. GPSr was jumping around a bit but soon found the cache. Left the GPSr on a rock and noticed after having replaced the cache (which is in good order) that it was showing 46m from the cache where it had shown 4m when I looked and had found it. Thanks Alien Kiwis for the second of your caches today.
A quick find with SJT_NZ, we'd bought gingernuts from the local bakery and once cache found thought we could dunk them but instead saved them to eat when we got to the top. Thanks Alien Kiwi and fun cache
Such a cool Cashe! Thanks for all the effort, it was a good reward for the kids after boys 10, 6 and 2 made it all the way up and back
We thought it looked a great spot for a cache and found this cache. I have taken the trackable. Cheers.
We had such a great weekend that I almost forgot to log the caches
Despite living not too far away (1,5hrs) it's probably Takaka hill that keeps me from coming here more often. Anyway, with great weather we decided to do some walks, first at Grove Scenic Reserve, then Rawhiti cave and next Anatoki salmon for late lunch. That was the plan and that's what we did, Grove was nice but quickly seen and on the way to the caves this was the first cache to be found. Looks great, can't believe it has "survived", interesting story the container could tell I guess

Nice cache, gps wouldn’t work so counted back from the orange marker. Replaced pen
Found with family at the start of the walk up to the cave, great camo here, Tftc!
Just checking my logs then realized i had not logged this cache.Found on a trip over here. Will come back and do the other caches soon
Popped in to check all was well with the cache and gave the inside of the container a bit of a clean. A little bit of disintegration of some of the camouflage on the outside but otherwise all good.
Gps took a whike to settle and a lot of different options. Once settled was not too difficult. Found it hard to get into box however. Tftc.
The cave is an amazing place. Er were so impressed. It was hard work to get there but it was worth. So we can get a few smileys more. Thank you for the caches!
Darn, only thought to check for caches on the area once we got back to the bottom. Would be a much nicer day for a cool drink! The boy found this one pretty much just using his geosenses. Great story about the cache! TFTC!
Cachelet #3 and I had a Daddy Date and we were heading to the Rawhiti Caves. We did the walk and we were heading out and grabbed this on. The GPSr took a bit to settle. Found a patch in the crowds to grab this one. Cachelet #3 declared it to be huge! Now to Takaka for some refreshments.
Thanks for the cache Alien Kiwis.

Unser GPS ist in Neuseeland nichts wert. Hier haben wir im zweiten Anlauf mit Hilfe der Beschreibung und einer Portion Intuition dann aber doch noch Erfolg gehabt.
Having a holiday in golden bay we decided to do some local walks. Would highly recommended this one. We did it in about one and a half hours. It’s a lovely walk a long the river bed but then it gets very step up hill. The reward at the top is well worth the effort to get up here. Thanks for the caches we found along the way. Would not have even known about this place if it wasn’t for geocaching.
Amazing bit of history on the container

Auch hier bin ich auf meiner Neuseelandrundreise lang gekommen und ich danke allen Owner für Ihre Mühe.
Nine days to do some caching for the price of four leave days - who could complain about that! I found a quirky place to stay near Motueka, ad decided to base myself there to cache in the wider area. I had a few on my hit list, and ended up finding a great variety of different caches on the trip.
Day six - the benefits of solo travel! If you decide you don't want to be where you are, you can pick yourself up and take yourself elsewhere! I decided to head to the caves on the spur of the moment and so I did! Cool container here! TFTC!!

found this going back to the car. Knowing what to look for whit this cache owner made the find easier. Went for a walk with some French visitor friends
We are traveling around NZ and the Rawhiti Cave is a must do. So this morning we stopped here and made our way up. The camo is great and everything is in good condition. Thanks for placing it here and a great story as well.
Up from CHCH visiting family in Richmond...and now a couple days in Golden Bay for some exploring. Our couple days in Golden Bay over; this morning we had a few things to visit in and around Takaka before heading back to Richmond. TeWaikoropupu Springs ticked off, Labyrinth Rocks, tick.......and now Rawhiti caves. Not sure if this was the best idea. Midmorning by now and it was 30 odd degrees. Carpark full so plenty of people on the track. Mr10 a keen bean but Mr8 wasn't impressed - he so wanted to see the cave but wasn't convinced about the walk! This cache was a quick find and sign between muggles. Nice camo. Flippin hot and we hadn't even got far - made sure we took plenty of water.
On parental leave we used the time for some stops to visit interesting places. This was one of them Thank you for leading us to this location.

Down in Nelson for a 10 day holiday and one of our annual big treks in the wilderness somewhere in NZ. Nice camo. Found on the way to the cave.
Cool camo. Quick find on the hike up to the cave. Was very wet on the track. Uber slippery. We had good boots so we're ok but others we saw in jandels. Nuts. TFTC.
ReCached and I read about Rawhiti Cave and we were curious how they might look like. Of course we were up for the hike and since we love Geocaching, those two ends met again perfectly today. It's only now while logging the cache that I'm reading about the impressive journey this container has made in the past. TFTC Alien Kiwis!

Taybeedragon and I are on a three day caching spree in Golden Bay. Queen's Birthday makes for an excellent caching time. Happy birthday Liz!
Heading up to the cave now, a cache the dragon told me had to be on the list. Turned out I did already have it in my download, so I beat her to it.
Great story, glad you got your container back. And yes, a great container too. Dropped in a path tag.

Found it pretty quickly since a part of the camo had fallen off. If I had brought some glue, I could have fixed it on the spot.
The travelling fox is happy =^,^=

First to sign the shiny new logbook. Nice camouflage and an easy find at the start of the walk to the caves.

Found it in the beginning of the walk up to the cave! Liked the look of the cache thx
Completely replaced the cache container and changed the name of the cache at the same time. Good to go. Dropped off a Little White Pony TB which we found in Missouri on Christmas Day
This is definately one of our top 10 places we have visited in New Zealand. It was a beautiful day and we had a great walk to the caves...
Had to walk past a smelly rotting goat/sheep but found it. The cave was spectacular!
One of our priority targets for today was the Earth cache at the end of this walk. Naturally we would find the two caches placed before that. It was a quick find but the log is sodden and unable to be signed. Had I read the previous logs before leaving home I would have taken one, sorry.
Thank you Alien Kiwis.
Thank you Alien Kiwis.
The earth cache at the end of the track was earmarked as a must do for the day. With GZ still in early morning shade and me still wearing (prescription) sunglasses it took a bit longer than need be to spot the well camoed cache. Unfortunately the log was sodden so we couldn't sign. Thank you Alien Kiwis
We are out geocaching with our aunt uncle and cousins (silverRose) this was the first find of our day.
A quick find with our Geocousins O.B.E.Soc. Cool little save up near the back of the GZ. Looking forward to our walk. Log v wet, we've emptied the water back but it needs replacing. Sorry we don't have spare paper. TFTC
