I am down in Christchurch for an extra long long weekend. I had a sleep in, then got up and had a shower a shave and a sh... breakfast, and still the rest of the household is still asleep! Bugger that, I grabbed the keys and headed out. found a bunch of caches in the dark then got to here shortly before dawn, ie full daylight.I have been here before. Way back in 2015, when I had only been geocaching for 4 years and was still a geocaching wally. I thought the cache was missing then, and said so in my log. How naive I was back then! This time I did more clever things, like read the logs. Now I know where the cache is. But can I get it? Just me on my own? With the car way over there? Of course I can!Had it in no time. Slightly tricky signing the log without it all going horribly wrong though.
I was nearby delivering my caravan for a service at Jayco Canterbury when I saw this. So I made a short walk to GZ and checked out a couple of likely places that proved fruitless. The next likely places were out of reach so I read a few previous logs to see if they would provide a clue. They did, and confirmed my 'next likely' place was actually 'more likely'. Being of the geriatric persuasion, I'm not as nimble as in my younger days, but the grey matter came up with an idea. I headed back to where my ute was and drove it back to GZ. I backed it into the nearest car park, ignoring the sign that said 'Supervisors Only', well I used to be a supervisor, dropped the tray and used that as a platform for retreival.Unfortunately, the cache contaner was incomplete and the end of it and the log were missing. Not wanting to put all my effort and cleverness to waste, I grabbed a sheet of RitR paper, inscribed my name and date on it and folded it up and jammed it in what was left of the container.TFTC
I had the perfect tool to improvise with! Found after reading the logs and doing some thinking. 4 finds today is my final tally before my 6 AM flight to Melbourne. TFTC
Well, finally a time with no one about at 9pm to have a decent look. Not many places to check this time and then tada, there it is. Finally. Cheers
FITW JiljilIn the are for some uniform replacement at a nearby shop. We decided find some caches. Had no trouble in finding this one with a little support from my friend as I'm little short, lol. All is well here. TFTC.
I had a good look around at GZ and spotted a good place to hide a cache but couldn't get to it. Will have to return with a tool or extra assistance to have another go.
Great fun find thanks so much! Didn't have much time so read a few of the previous logs for a wee hint. Worked together and quickly nabbed the cache. No pen here so byo. +Fav
Down in the Christchurch area with woolwood9. Day 7 - A fine day, although a bit cooler.SL *tm/ww NZ*Thank you for the reason to visit this cache and location Another quick one today - a bit tough for us oldies!*Good find and hide.*
Heading out today for day 7 of my trip to Christchurch with tmann421.Had fun finding all caches, some were much easier than othersSigned all logs tm/ww NZGreat hide hereThanks to cache owners for their efforts
I have been here so many times due to J playing hockey. Finally this evening i made time and circumstance work in my favour.
Dropped parents off to the airport at stupid o'clock for their flight to Melbourne. Might as well have a crack at this seeing as noones around GZ. Where could it be... I tried a few items at GZ, but didn't have any luck... tried a few other ideas with the same success rate. Then I came back and tried my original idea... damn if only I'd started right there in the first place.. at least I had the right idea! Nice hide, thanks for the placement. TFTC CatzPJs, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 2 find(s) of 2 today, making this find #4414
In wairakei park (the park adjacent to the fields in this cache's park) we attempted the cache there without success. After that we walked through the little bit of grass to this park. Had to go along the road because there was a fence blocking our way. At gz there was a nice man (maybe one of the land owners?) that came up to us and asked us if we were looking for the cache so we said yes. He told where he thought it was and we checked those places. After a bit of playing around we got the cache. Added a Fav point because of the cool hide!Nice cache. Another fun cache retrieval with angelic_kiwi and Snugpup.
We always have a fun time on our geocaching outings
It was a team effort:
We utilized a very large tool for angelic_kiwi to make the retrieval from the place I was sure it was hidden- thanks to Snugpup for the retrieval method idea, it meant we didn't have to make a return trip

We checked this cache out late this afternoon, then came back after dark with the appropriate ‘tool’. We had to wait for a few cars to leave the area before retrieving the cache. All good here. TFTC pjoyce.

Yay, finally sorted! Funnily enough the area was completely dead at every previous visit. Now it was teaming with life, but I had a person with who was able to overcome the terrain challenge and look nonchalant, and it was not stuck frozen either. TFTC!!
Thanks to reading all the comments, I went for a gamble and it was correct. Very tricky!!! Thanks for the cache! 2nd time here!
Found! Ha, spent an hour over 3 trips to find, (didn’t log because knew I would be back) What a cool spot and quirky container. TFTC!
Great cache. We had a scary moment when a muggle showed up just we were about to put it back. Think we pulled it off though
I was trying to be stealthy. I was just about to check one spot, when a muggle came by. I stopped what I was doing to remain inconspicuous. That is when I heard the muggle say, "You're really close." He worked at the park and knew about the cx, so we chatted for a bit once I signed the log. TFTC.
Forgot to log this yesterday. I went for a walk from my house to get this cache. This was a quick find and a cool cache. TFTC
Found it! Very cool! Fortunately I've seen this type of cache before, and when I spotted the odd one out and fashioned a makeshift step-ladder, everything else was a piece of cake. This is probably my last cache in Chch this trip, and its not a bad way to go out. FP given and TFTC!
A nice park and grab!
I never knew this was here after playing hockey here in the past every weekend!!
Thank you for this clever hide!

Team G0LD: Geocachers 0B80B8, Lis's crew and DaffyNZ are down from Whangarei for a few days. We've all solved the 4 big geoarts so they are the main target for the trip.
Of course there were many other puzzles solved as well. We certainly made a great dent in my solved puzzle list but I'll still have enough for another trip.
This trad with its high favourite points certainly got out attention. We parked close by and wandered over. My gut instint was the right gz but lacking height I dismissed it at first. A muggle worker soon came over and knew what exactly what we were after. He even went back for a stepping stool of sorts for us. Luckily he thought this hide would remain safe with the work that's being done in the area. Thanks for a fun hide

Team G0LD ( 0B80B8, Lis's crew & DaffyNZ ) on a caching mission to Christchurch. We had travelled down from Whangarei yesterday, so today was our first full day to get into it.
Solved puzzles were going to be the main focus of our trip. We had spent a lot of 2020 and 2021 solving over 400 puzzles, so we had a lot on our list. Thankfully the weather looked like it was going to play ball today, as caching in the rain is always just that bit harder.
Of course we weren't going to go past any trads on our route, especially ones with good FP's. The last log on this one indicated we might not be able to reach GZ, but we thought we would try anyway. No trouble for us today, and the assistance of a nearby muggle with a handy height enlarger was certainly appreciated. Definitely worth an FP from me too. TFTC

We are killing time before our flight back to Queensland this arvo so what better way to do that than find a few caches. It’s almost time to head to the airport but there was time for 1 more cache.
I read a few logs and realised the elevation of where we had to look, that narrowed down the options and we found the cache in the first spot we looked. All good here, tftc.

On a rather cold windy morning, one last holiday in memory of good old QEII, thought I'd get some in. Here's to Liz, long live Chuck the Third....
Play a lot of hockey here, not sure why I haven't had a crack at it before now. No hockey today, so good chance to get it, and there it was. Yeh, wouldn't be TOOOO obvious getting it with hockey on. Cheers

We ended up with a bit of time on our hands due to a delayed flight, so I thought it would be good to have another visit here, lol. It did not help that I left my phone on charge at home! We searched for some time until it was time to go. In any case, we will be back, again...
Great cache! Thankfully I was able to reach it without too much trouble! Thanks!
Continuing our loop around this suburb, this was find number 3 today.
I kind of thought what form this cache would take but also hoped I was wrong. It was just a bit out of reach. But after ruling out other possibilities, I read some old logs to confirm my suspicions. Back to the ute then for a toolbox ( literally) that made the difference. Signed and replaced and thanked the combo of drizzle and holiday for the quietness here today. Couldn’t have picked a better day. TFTC pjoyce.

A wet & miserable day in ChCh today, so just a few local caches for us. We are having a potluck dinner with RNZ's family later & my infamous cheeseball is on the menu with Hot Cross Bun & Butter pudding. A festive Easter recipe I spotted online that I wanted to try, both were a hit
Luckily not a soul at this location except for us today. Under normal circumstances I think this would be a hive of activity & a tricky retrieval. No probs for RNZ though

After reading some of the previous logs, there was no way I was gonna be able to get this one on my own..... Luckily Mumbo11 to the rescue, once I pointed out something that just didn't quite look like the others..... TFTC
I was down at Repco so I decided to stop off here and have a looksy. Really good co-ords on this one and absolutely no one around just me. I had a good idea where this was as I've found plenty similar to this one although I'd have had the D/T around slightly the other way. The nearby stick came in handy before a quick signing and then its and my safe return. Good to see this cache has lived here for so long! Thanks pjoyce, my first find for 2022. Yeah I've been a bit slack.
We had been to find the nearby letter box cache and on the way back to the car we noticed there was this cache nearby so we thought we would have a look for this one as well while we were in the area.
We looked in all of the usual places then gk tried another option, luckily he had the required attributes to make this achievable. The log was wedged in tightly but I found a piece of zip tie lying on the ground and used that and the log just popped out easily.
It wasn't until we were walking back to the car when I read the cache page and looked at the D/T rating. Had we seen that before we searched we would have probably looked where we found it first.
The log was signed and it was returned as he found it, Thank you for the cache and thank you for the smiley

With an hour or so before I need to be at the airport I took the opportunity to drive a little way out of the CDB to look for a few caches hereabouts.
My last find before heading to the airport.
All nice and quiet here at 7:45 and I guessed lucky at the second attempt. Unfortunately the log was wedged too far in to extract.
Thanks CatzPJs

It’s definitely one of the first places you think of but you’re scared to check worried about looking suspicious… look up ??
Found without a log so a new slip of paper has been wedged in by myself and my partner.
(takes a wee while so don’t give up! the satisfaction is well worth it)

After an awesome morning walking the Tiromoana track (I highly recommend it)..which was my main mission for a last minute trip to chch .
After calling for dry socks and shoes at my "jucy pod" it was time to get a few close by...
Under the cover of darkness this didnt take long to find ...had the place to myself thankfully..nice cache have found a few of these before tftc

I had sussed this out once before but there were way too many people round. I was passing close by on my way home when I saw it pop up and thought it would be a good idea to check it out today. Perfect - no one around at all. So I did what I needed to and signed the log. Feels very good to have this one signed off thanks pjoyce. Happy New Year. TFTC # 16,517
Looks like I picked a good time to look for this cache on a rainy Sunday afternoon. Nobody around which gave me a chance to have a good look. Thanks for the cache.

Team BOP on another crazy mission to the South Island. Lockdown gave us a lot of free time that we directed into Canterbury’s many Geo-Arts and with the Auckland 2020 Mega postponement, Christchurch was an easy decision. Team BOPs current incarnation is DavidsonClan, NZFlossy, McJandals and myself and we’ve signed all the logs as Team BOP to save time and log space.
So it's Labour Weekend 2020, it’s a numbers mission and we have a lot of caches to choose from today. Having just picked everyone up from the airport it made sense to start slow and grab a couple of these easy ones. Cheers CatzPJs & TFTC

Pleased to finally get this cache as it was my second attempt. Was with Busypaws and Coconut3.
This was my third visit. I knew where it was, it was a case of getting it! Mrs Coconuts3 did a manoeuvre with the 4WD and retrieved the little so and so!! I have never been so glad to see a cache "hanging there" This is NOT a 1.5 Terrain cache. Happy to get this one, just as the youngsters arrived for practice and the rain started. Phew !!
Great cache hide enjoys hanging round waiting. Out with busy paws and lytteltonwitch. Was Mrs C's job to get cache. Log good and dry. Thanks for the cache joyce.
Woohoo found it ....only the odd muggle but quickly retrieved and signed without being noticed. TFTC
A couple more caches before we get to the airport for our flight home to Rotorua. Had a great week traveling the south island. All quiet here today quick find.

On a road trip down south with the mates , primarily targeting TMGTs
Just a few more before dropping rental car off.
I am logging using the Cachly app template so please excuse generic logging along the way. It’s just my way of keeping track, but I do genuinely thank each and every one of you cache owners for taking the time and energy to place these cache. Many Thanks for bringing me here. Cheers.

What a fun and challenging find! Good thing I'm not completely lacking in the athleticism department. It makes up for me not being especially tall!
We have visited before when the carpark was full of muggles and it was impossible to attempt. We returned today with Ilmari_the_Red. Given the title and the description it was a logical, and cunning, hide. Imari_the_Red made the find. TFTC!
This one justified its difficulty rating - no harder nor easier than it should be! Trifolia Argentea and I went together; we looked up and down the location for a minute, then knew immediately where the cache must be. A good hide!

Really enjoyed this cache I knew where to look straight away and there it was. Submitted via Garmin Live Geocaching
Tftc what a great hide! I came prepared for this one, had all the tools In the car, except the one I needed. All sorts of ideas of what this cache could be, but did not expect this. Only reason it ended up being a quick find, after studying the area from the car for a few min, was that my second ever find, before I was even caching, was very similar
Woow what a hide - this took some thinking - absolutely fabulous hide - like everybody else had read the logs to find - TFTC
Finally found this one. Quite handy to read back through some of the comments to get a wee hint. Tftc.
Another attempt, another dnf. I got a hint to confirm that the cache placement is definitely not a T1.5, so we returned at night to give it another go. Daughter clambered all around but the potential hide would not budge, possible due to the cold metal. Very awkward place to be hanging out on a Saturday night, especially given that previous cachers have been told to leave. This is private property and hanging around someone's fence (literally) does not seem to be the best thing to do.
Just checked the cache, and still there waiting to be found Have increased the difficulty also.
Today's mission was marginally less ambitious than yesterday's however sadly also less successful. I ended up with a mere three finds of seven targets and around 10,000 steps - and two frozen cokes.
I searched everywhere I could think off without joy sadly.

Found it under the supervision of Jude_E.
It was in a place I though it would be but when I was searching there before, it somehow wouldn't give itself up.
Well, the cache is all good, and finally has log entry since more than a year ago
When I had just put the cache back, paddle chick & Mum suddenly walked out of the shadows and then they had the task of locating the cache under the supervision of Jude and I.
P.S. As for a muggle-free time - seems that Sunday is the day. I came here on Sunday on two occasions and both times the area was completely deserted.

The place was deserted on this Sunday evening but I had no idea where the cache is. Well, I had ideas, and I tried them out but none gave me any results. Most notable i tried was the good old drop-a-stone down-a-pipe one.
