Tasmania Trip Day 8. After arriving in Hobart yesterday afternoon and having a nice walk before dinner, today my aim was to visit some counties to the south west of the city. I did not go onto the island, but I did the rest of the counties. It was not the most successful of starts to the day, but I reached the numbers I was hoping for and headed back into town where I went for a much longer walk around the middle of the city and docks to do about six sets of Labs. By the time that was all done I was looking forward to dinner and a long nights rest.I have only seen tank lines in Queensland before now, I had not expected to find a line in Tasmania. I am glad this cache brought me here to see what remains. Thanks for the cache amw201145976.15 TNLNVisited: World Traveling Gold GC A#6 & Mars Perseverance Rover Calibration Target Geocoin A#444**Albida**
So happy to learn about the history of Tasmania! Never knew this existed and so keen to share
On another jaunt with a client today, collecting some caches. Thanks so much for bringing me here, I had no idea about this - one of the things I really love about geocaching, finding new things like this Favourite for me.I dropped a trackable into the cache. TFTC
Oh, and needless to say, wakeupsleepy hasn't actually signed the log. Another armchair find for him
We were out this way to grab some firewood then decided to have an impromptu visit to the Bush Bakery as we had never been before.
This then led to an impromptu geocache find!
So impromptu I had to resort to signing the log with a stick and some dirt. It’s faint but it’s there!!!

Stopped in on our way to Huonville and pleased to find this one after a couple of non events. Good condition on a very pretty creek. TFTC
A quick drive by for us on our way to the Longley Hotel for lunch.
This is a fascinating bit of history that most people probably think is just a block of concrete.
TFTC and showing us this spot.

Found on a trip from South Australia to Tasmania, mainly to visit family and friends and to also find a few caches.
Today I left Bruny Island and made my way down the channel before heading back up to Hobart, finding a few caches of interest along the way, including this one.
Thanks amw2011 for the cache.

Cool little spot. Parked right next to it and just hoped I wasn’t going to be disturbed whilst grabbing and signing the cache.

This was super interesting. Thank you for the information the site and the easy find
Well this is a very interesting place.
We parked at the beginning of Riverbend road and walked to GZ where a quick find was made, the last of three finds today.
Some very interesting history here.
Thanks for the cache and bringing us here amw2011!

This cache was a quick detour on the way home from a great day out geocaching with budgietas and oldsaint the other week..
I enjoyed reading the description and marvelled at the uniqueness of the objects in the bush.
Thanks for creating a geocache here!
Left two trackables i've had for way too long.

Place we did not even know about in a well populated area, log book a bit damp, TNLN, travel bug also in this cache
Found it! Ironically I didn't find the date mentioned in the hint. Cache was still easy to spot though. Would have been nice if this had a plaque of some sort so we could read more about it. TNLN SL TFTC!
Hi amw2011,
TFTC,
A nice day to be out and about caching with EeePees.

Found it when staying at Hobart, on a trip to Ida Bay, during my motorcycle holiday on this marvelous island.
Happy New Year amw2011.
With today being a public holiday, and the GeoGSP's puppy play date falling through as his playmates owner had broken their toe, the GeoGSP and I were up for a little bit of a geocaching adventure. I decided to target an area with a bunch of caches, not too far out of town.
This is an awesome cache - what an interesting little bit of history, sitting here right on the side of the road. Thanks for publishing a cache here and giving me a reason to visit.
Nice quick find at GZ. Cache is in good order.

Found today whilst heading back to Huonville from Hobart and to keep our run of finds going. Probably an unknown fact about these dragons teeth from WWII. Thanks from showing us this and TFTC from the inspectorrexteam.
Today I decided to find Nataliec1234's two new hides and hopefully a few more while I am down this neck of the woods. After finding them both I called round to NatalieC1234's for a coffee and while there she decided to go caching with me for the day. In all I found 18 caches and did some planning on another three. While NatalieC1234 did pick up five herself as they had done most in the areas before. Isn't she nice!! Mr NatalieC1234 and Princess A went to a birthday celebration so it was time for some serious catching up and caching. Anti tank concrete pillar very interesting indeed amw2011. I guess it would be very hard to push aside or smash through. A lovely bit of history thank you, lucky it was never required. The cache is still going strong and nicely hidden as intended.
An interesting spot that we would never had known about had it not been for caching. TFTC!

Today we are in the area from Mt Wellington.
Here we want to make the series of caches. On the way we had a quick stop.
After a short searching we find the hide. A interesting story.
Thank you for the cache and greetings from Germany send Moorhelmi

We recently set out to find some caches in the Sandfly and Longley area, but an unfortunate combination of a minor injury and some technological issues caused us to have to retire early for the day. Today, we set out to find those that we didn't get to that day. In total, we ended up finding five traditional caches, with another two DNFs.
This was our sixth cache of the day. Following our adventuring around Longley, we decided to head home via a circuitous route through Fern Tree. The route home ran right past this cache, so naturally we had to make an attempt.
We made the mistake of driving down the little side road the tank trap is located on, only to discover a distinct lack of parking spots down that way. Eventually we found somewhere to turn around and headed back to the GZ. Fortunately the road is quiet enough that we were able to simply stop the car on the road right next to the location, without any worry of muggles showing up unexpectedly.
It's an interesting location! We've never come across a feature quite like that before! We've seen the tank trap at Inverawe Native Gardens in Margate, but that's little more than a simple ditch. This definitely had a lot more character!
The cache itself was easily found and well stocked.
Thanks for introducing us to this obscure but very interesting place!

Nice quick find. Nice big container so dropped a TB. 5th cache for the day signed log. Tftc
After moving to Tasmania to live I have been enjoying finding a few local caches and hope to clear my local area and start hiding a few too. Thanks for hiding this one
Hi there amw2011.
We found your cache **"The Japs are coming Part 2"** at 12:38:00 PM today. (This makes our grand total 18844).
Another great day for caching. The sun is shining and there aren't too many clouds in the sky, so we decided that a drive around Sandfly would be a good place to bag some caches and have a picnic lunch.
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour today & ended up finding a variety of container types, and sizes. Our cache count was 8 caches today, with 2 DNF's.
Thanks for placing the cache here. Without geocaching as our guide we would never have found so many interesting places on our travels.
**Coordinate Accuracy:** We found this cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.
**Cache Condition:** The container and log book are in fair shape.
**Took:** Nothing.
**Left:** A Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.

Thankyou so much for taking us to this amazing piece of Tasmanian history! Easy find
I walked up the hill from the Longly pub and found this one in good order. Tftc and the history.
On taking a road less travelled, found it was the old highway. Interesting location and history. Quick find. Took TB. TFTC
TFTC TNLN easy find with clues, log dry, cool day with wind gusting, great day for caching. weird structures but necessary in those days.
Thanks for bringing us to this disturbing spot. Cant imagine the heightened state of fear.
What an interesting monument in the middle of nowhere. A quick easy find in the pouring rain. The kids were happy to make some swaps. TFTC
Travelling around Australia and spending a few months in Tasmania.
Finally a nice day here in Snug. we set off to find a cache or 2. Loved the view of Mt Wellington from this side of town, standing high and proud so clear today just awesome to see.
We set off with a list of caches to tackle but added some to the list and never finished the list. [B)]
An interesting spot glad you shared it with us.

Very interesting piece of history. Reminded us of the "Brisbane Line" Cache on the border of NSW and Qld.

First we drive PAST getting ever closer only to realise, whoops, it's down there! So we chuck a u-ey & drive BACK, turn & drive DOWN only to realise, whoops, no parking! So we REVERSE back to park at the spot the CO kindly TOLD us to stop at in the first place. Moral: read the !@#$ cache description & ignore GPS arrows! What a magical spot & a great history lesson. Without that, even had we found the structure we'd have assumed it was some memorial to one Sapper Berwick RAE. We're guessing the strange concrete cones on the other side are the actual anti-tank defences & this was some sort of heavy duty blast proof gate post?
A great cache to find, given a fav point, TFTC
After a quick trip to the uk we're back in Tassie and ready to cache again
We're on a six month stay here from the Kurrajong area, (Blue Mountains) NW of Sydney, to tour in the caravan and also visit our kids and grandkids in the Huon Valley
On four previous visits before this visit, we were muggles, so we have a whole island of caching fun ahead of us!

After having Brunch with a friend I decided to cache on the way home. I may have been in a dress and heels but it didn't stop me....
Well it kinda did. After two DNF's I was frustrated and thought about gettint changed into real clothes. (Shorts and hiking boots).
Thankfully I got this one! Yaaaay! So I feel the taking of the long long long way home wasn't wasted. Tftc! It was also super exciting to see it stocked with goodies.

amw2011, thanks for the cache; and the history lesson. Never heard of this before; so quite fascinating.
The 20k sign appears to be no more! Found today with jll1713.
If you're in this area on a Saturday, a visit to the Bush Bakery at Leslie Vale is highly recommended.
#40 @ 1400hrs Saturday 26th September 2015. P & EP*, and J

what an interesting spot, thank you amw2011. took a tiny smurf and a finger puppet... left a BIG smurf and a bandicoot animal card.
We love this type of history. Thanks for bringing us to this interesting location. TFTC
Another days touring and the occasional cache in the Huon valley. Strange history for this part of the world.
Thanks amw2011

Another wonderful bit of history! Thanks for placing a cache here or we would never known about this. Found quickly and then we drown down to the river for a look. TFTC
Quick find after we decided it could not be a 1/1. In our neck of the woods (which is REALLY far away) this would have been a 1.5/2.
Interesting little spot! We drove right up for a fairly quick find but in a place that did not match the D/T rating. Definately not wheelchair accessible (1x1) but easy enough for us agile old-timers..
TFTH!

Left a FIG JAM badge. I don't normally leave these but had grabbed it from wrong bag. TFTC. Angus the great GeoWestie assisted by grey nomad Carer Lis Brown en route from Bundaberg Qld to Perth WA via all of Tasmania.
I parked at the road junction and walked the short distance to GZ. What a shame I couldn't take the manure here on sale home to my vegetable garden.
You should upgrade the star terrain rating. One star, according to the Geocaching site, means it is wheelchair accessible. This isn’t. TFTC.

Very narrow road with no parking. Local looked a bit grumpy when we tuned in. Having two people helped one to find and one to drive by...Good stash of swaps i was very tempted to grab a smurf but alas no swaps with me. Tftc, interesting bit of obscure history.
