I'll chalk it up to Beginner's non-luck. It was my first attempt at geocaching...guess I'll have to try somewhere else for my first find.
Found upright sticks but no cache. Left after 15 minutes with a tonne of mosquito bites!

I was in the area so decided to have another go at this cache, after my lack of success a few months ago. I didn't have the kids with me this time, so was less time-constrained. I also brought an old running watch as an alternative GPS, given the phone struggles under trees. It pointed me at a spot that was below the water-line, so I adjusted and after a little while made the find, and signed the alternate log. Not quite sure how the location relates to the hint (left of what?), but happy to have the smiley. Thanks for the cache.

It's there but as can be seen from the comments, not very evident and pretty close to buried. Have a photo but that may be too much of a spoiler. I was glad to get this one finally as Ive been here a few times with no joy - just mounting irritation! Original log trashed but replacements can be signed.
Just a note: ziplock bag found by 'the_garbageman' doesn't belong to this cache. See the picture I took. Ziplock is red, not yellow.
GPS were like crazy, pointing here and there. I decided to explore without it, and finally got it! Logbook totally useless. Signed in the loose paper from previous geocachers. Thanks harrykay
gotcha. new phone and updated gps led us to the exact spot. tad water damaged though. tftc. found with _shannat
Will return again. Hopefully it hasn't been washed away with all the recent rain.
I was in the area camping with the kids, and the weather was unkind for outdoor activities, so after a movie in the morning I looked for more indoor fun, to find the Marine Discovery Centre. We had a surprisingly pleasant hour there, and afterwards I persuaded the kids to quickly look for this cache, given it was a mere 57m away. The phone didn't lock, and remained at 10m accuracy throughout our stay. We looked for the object of the hint as well as likely places to hide a container, but neither strategy was successful, so after a while we gave up and went to play putt putt instead. Thanks anyway.
Dive weekend Terrigal September 2015. With a bit of rain setting in I decided for another look for this one, and this time I managed to look in the right direction at the right spot and locate it. Left a bit less buried for the next searchers.
Thanks.

I'm housesitting nearby on the coast for a short time and decided to brave the overcast day and take the pup to the beach. We picked up this one on the way back, just as the rain started to get a bit heavier. But thankfully it was a nice quick find, however this was because it was uncovered and in plain sight.. about half a metre away from where I imagine it was intended to be. I placed it back to where better fitted the hint.
Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
Found it! Team bikini bottom is on the case! Thanks for the cache! Definitely still here, under upright sticks you'll find!
Could not find it. Searched for about 30 mins with no luck. Found upright sticks but that is all.
Out today with the Mighty Minions and Leopard Kat.
After me searching for a while, Mighty Mioins helped and made the find. I didnt see any three sticks and didnt make sense of the hint at all TFTC

A quick GC after PK bear attended a kids party at the Marine center nearby GZ. Very sneaky and enjoyable cache TFTC

We didn't expect to find this, and then were pleasantly surprised when it turned up just as described. However, it was waterlogged throughout. We drained it as best we could, and replaced.
while cycling with friends in this beautiful country,I manage to do some geocaching, tftc
Spent a long time actually just trying to find the right area to look in. GPS no help at all might try again another day.
30/12/14. 11:06 AM. Cache #2131. Streak day #191. I popped out for a few caches mid-morning. After finding Caitlin's Choice, I headed up to Terrigal. The latest logs for Bridgecoast Basketball Stadium suggested that had been muggled, so I skipped that & came here instead. I was surprised by how quickly I found it, given the trouble others had had.
The contents were all wet, so I found a sunny place to dry things out for a few minutes. I was able to sign the log, but I'm sure my entry will run, so photographed it just in case. Next cache was Terrigal Lagoon. TFTC }:)

Three years ago I spent ages here for a dnf, today it was a fairly quick find, go figure!
I thought geocaches were not supposed to be berried...didn't find it this time it was to hard!
No luck for the wee gits. Too much bounce on the GPS and too much leaf litter for us.
Continuing my run around the lagoon I stopped off here. With the rain and dim morning it was certainly very dark and dreary here and I'm going in part blame my DNF on that! I certainly had trouble figuring out the clue and after a lot of scurrying around couldn't make hide nor hare of it - so decided to save the time for other caches and moved on.
This took me way longer than it should have...not least because the coords arnt exact (the GPS kept wanting me in the water, eventually settled on 6m when at GZ) and the container was more buried than covered when I finally located it....in the interim I found and removed 3 bongs and a whiskey can (CITO) so there's going to be some disappointment for the muggles when they return, gbt not great for a kid-friendly cache (glad I didn't have mine to have to do any explaining). Also had time to give the log a short air. TFTC, my 2nd of the 'arry-Kay's'.
Second time lucky on this one. All the time I knew where it had to be but it had me stumped last time, partly because my GPSr kept showing GZ below tide level (which it wasn't supposed to be) and partly because I got sucked in by the upright star picket sticks. This time around, with a clearer head and Mumma-Kel in tow, we got it in the area we figured it would be ... but it still took longer than it should have because it was buried and below what I would regard as (king) tide level. Thx HarryKay and Mumma-Kel.
Dive trip to Terrigal. No luck for me here, but I am glad to see it has tuned up. Maybe I will get back one day. Thanks.

With the gps jumping around, felt we needed to find the hint to find the cache but couldn't seem to pin that down either. Anyway, nice spot though the mozzies were keen.
Hard find but got it with help of our sniffer dogs.

This took waaay longer than it should have on a wet and soggy Christmas arvo. I couldn't make sense of the clues but we got there in the end! Thanks.

We searched for this cache everywhere, even came back twice. No luck at all. We didn't have a GPS, but we did end up finding a tick on my friend's head...
I was a bit pressed for time but found it nevertheless despite taking longer than I hoped. I don't know if I or the water monitor I came across was more startled. It hung around while I found it so I hope he isn't a muggle waiting to vandalise the cache. TNLN. TFTC.
That was a really hard one! Found it on my forth visit, with help from family. This was not going to get the better of me. Took the TB. Ta.
Quick find on the way home from my sisters house. Poked around for a while until the son spotted it. SL. TFTC.
Thankfully the damp weather was the likely cause of an empty park this morning so after a quick look the cache was in hand.
Thanks harrykay for the cache.
Thanks harrykay for the cache.
We've come back down to the Central Coast to pick up a few more smileys. This was #4 today.
Mrs C had a little trouble tracking this down, most likely the tree cover interfering. Cache soon found near the 'sticks'. It was in a sorry state - water in screw top container, log waterlogged and useless. We had read the previous logs and brought with us a replacement (Systema) container in which we placed a new log in plastic bag, a couple of new swaps and a 1964 penny. It's good to go for a while yet. Thanks harrykay.

Parked here to look up the details for the Terrigal Lagoon cache, and found I was very close to this one. There is a fun kids' park nearby, but I'm glad the cache was out of sight of the park. The cache didn't have water in it, but the logbook is turning into paper mache so I added my name to a strip of paper and we'll see how that goes. I don't think the CO geochaches any more.... TFTC
after walking past the cache a few times finally found the upright sticks and thought the cache had to be nearby, then found quickly.as already stated log is really wet. Thanks for the hide.TNLN SL
This cache is drenched and needs remediation work. The container seems sound enough but the contents are extremely wet and have been for some time according to past logs. Log sheet is too wet to sign.
Found but log was soaked - as was the rest of the cache. Needs maintenance. Thanks though harrykay.
Another good find while on holiday in the area.

We came down here knowing roughly what the state of the cache was going to be and we weren't disappointed.
The log was soaked and all of the caches contents as well.
We brought and signed our own log which we expect to be ruined as well.
I'm going to write up a needs maintenance log.
Thanks for the cache Harrykays.

Cache soaked and logbook now completely waterlogged... Might need a maintenance visit!!
This one was seeming difficult until we spotted it from a different angle. Lovely place, thanks harrykay.
A lovely shady spot on a hot 45C day. It took a while to spot as it is well hidden. SL, took TB, left TB, TFTC.
Spent some time in beautiful Terrigal this arvo before heading to the airport. Quick stop and grab before heading to find some lunch. Left geocoin. TFTC.

Number two today accompanied by my little helper grand-niece Ava. This I think was one where standing back and using your eyes is the most effective method of finding. I'm surprised this is so close to the tidal line (the tide was way way out when we visited though). TFTC
Quick find along the water, Co-ords were a few metres off but this didnt matter.
1st find for 12-12-12 - May try to find 1 or 2 more before the days out.
Took a liitle hunting to find.
Found with c_major on our way to a team breakfast at Terrigal - very nice sitting and eating in the outside cafe this morning. Would like to do this every day!

Could not find today. Only had the phone which can be a bit dodgy especially in trees. A bit of a grotty area!
