after reading the last couple of logs, we have decided to disable this cache until we have a chance to find out whats going on down here
Be careful when looking for this one, there was evidence of a homeless person sleeping at GZ, with a crossbow left leaning against the tree with sleeping bags and clothes stashed around. We had a VERY quick look following the hint but couldn't find it and left as we were getting creeped out.
On our way through the catlins we searched for this cache. We had no problems to find it. Thank you for showing, the information and the nice cache!
Fortunately a sign alerted me that this was coming up, or I wouldn't have stopped in time to pull over. TFTC
We are in New Zealand for 5 weeks and we love it to searche for a few caches now and than.

Amazing little place. Can almost picture it back in the day. The cache only took a second to find.
Loved in various books and crannies, but no luck today.
Interesting place to stop though. Thx

Found on our 25 day New Zealand South Island holiday.
Apologies for the late log but with little or no internet as we travelled and only super slow WiFi in van parks I decided to log all finds on my return home.
found on the way North from Invercargill

Found with nzanz. It's just a blue canister, no black tape. Logbook saturated. Tftc
Had to climb to see it, description needs updating as not the same container as described. Loved the waterproof paper, damp soggy paper in bottom must be original log. Found on our way home from Curio Bay surfing.
Thanks to all the owners of the geocaches that we found today on our way to Fortrose, Waikawa, Porpoise Bay and Curio Bay ... we love the Catlins and even more our stay with the Hector Dolphins and the 'yellow eyed' pinguïns!
TFTC and Greetings from Belgium.

Without ego caching we would not have stopped here for this one. Another nice little bit of history.
Today we drove from Waikawa to Milton. On the way we saw many scenic views and beautiful Places, such as water falls, coastal caves and so on. Of course we also found some caches .
With the nice hint it was no problem to find the box. today there are not many places like this, but we have seen similar places before, for example in Sweden.
Thanks for the cache.

Despite dry conditions and a good opportunity to explore the cache was not found. The evidence suggests that the long overgrowth has recently been cut back and the cache was possibly removed as litter at that time. Regardless, an interesting relic of the day, thanks farmer2some.
A new day and a new area to conquer. Today is all about exploring the Catlins and all its beauty. TFTC
Every day we are traveling around is same but also different. Today we had again the pleasure to visit some very beautiful spots and were also able to find nearly placed geocaches. I thank every single owner for placing it and giving us with doing this an other good reason to come here.
Mallorcatommy and I were on our journey through the southern island of New Zealand. With the help of geocaches we came to so many beautiful places, saw breath-taking landscapes and had, all in all a very wonderful journey! Thank you to all owners for placing all those nice geocaches!
Another quick find only to discover a ripped bag and wet log. Inserted some waterproof paper to sign.
Making our way through The Catlins to Dunedin, a nice find on a warm day

what an interesting historic site! I'd imagine that these must have been all around the country but this is the first we've seen. TFTC.
Despite spending about 25 minutes searching, PC Sniff and I could not spot this one. The weather here is pretty good for plants, judging by the way the signage is being covered up by the pittosporum.
Found this cache during our trip through the Catlins on the way to Bluff. Nobody was here, only some hores, which weren't interessted on the cache?!

Replaced with the container upside down so hopefully it doesn't fill up with water again. Cool spot. TFTC
During our New Zealand holiday we got many nice impressions and got to know a lot of the country and it's Kiwis. The time was short, just three weeks.
We started our travel in Auckland and went to the north - Cape Reinga, Hamilton and from Rotorua to Taupo. We continued our way to Wanganui and Wellington. Very windy there.
We went by ferry to Picton. Next stops were Nelson, Abel Tasman, Blenheim, Kaikoura and Christchurch. Dunedin and the very South of the mainland, Bluff, we couldn't miss. Even Queenstown.
Our final destination was Christchurch again. Here our holiday ended.
We found around 150 caches in New Zealand, drove about 4300 km and enjoyed the time as much as we could.
Some special places we have seen just because there is a cache and and very often the caches showed us nice places along the road, at interesting sightseeing spots or great spots away from the normal attractions.
Not to forget the magnificent landscape in New Zealand!
We loved the mix of Virtuals, Letterboxes, Myteries, Earthcaches, some Multi, Webcam, Wherigo and of course Tradis.
Thank you to all owner for the special experiences on our travel.

Found it on our family's recent trip down south!
What is a visit to The Catlins without stopping at the Concrete Horse Trough, found this one with mum after getting a funny photo! TFTC!

This spot has marks a different way of life. I tried imagining a life where all of these roads were horse only. It was nice to see an area designed to help them make the trip. We found this cache on our way to Curio Bay for the weekend. I found the cache on the ground but tucked it back where I think it was originally hidden. TFTC!
A short visit to Southland - unfortunately I wasn't abler to leave Christchurch until 1.30pm, so a quick drive up to McLeans/ Papatowai - however I had the urge to go to Curio Bay to see the petrified forest again - and log the Earthcache.
This cache was on my way back - it was on the ground but I placed it where the hint indicated. TFTC.

Our le grande tour de Catlins, much anticipated.
Pleased to be getting in amongst the Catlins territory with this one.
Really like this one. This is one of those places that without the lure of the cache you would simply drive on by and be none the wiser. Instead we stopped, found the cache and then enjoyed the story of the trough and the implications for travel in earlier days. Oh so different to the travel that brought us to here today. I give it a fave point. Good one.
Cache in order, log signed; then safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

Any horses passing this way now would be out of luck if they wanted a drink here.
a little bit of history that we would have driven straight past and not known about tftc
6277. A good place for a cache. Had to remove the logs as they were saturated. Replaced with a new log sheet in a bag. Thanks. Rodney and Iris.
Very wet inside. Needs replaced. Cache now blue film canister. Kids enjoyed hunting for it.
Thank you for the cache. We were with my wife on long trip around south east Asia, Australia and New Zealand. The caches showed us so many nice places.
Holidaying in the South Island, grabbing a few caches on the way. On our way down the Catlins to Invercargill. Quick find. Thanks for the cache.
During our wonderful travel from Christchurch to Steward Island we stopped here for a break. Lovely spot for a cache and good to find. Many thanks for showing us around. We have been here one year ago and it's always great to come back, such a beautiful place!
Found it during our days at the Catlins. Very nice. Thanks for showing and Greetings. mattpower
Getting closer to Curio Bay and my stop for the night. Just a quick stop and some monkeying around to find this cache.
Sorry for the late log. This is one of many founds during my four week visit to NZ.
The date here may differ from the one in the log book, both could be a day off from actual log date.

Day 4 of our NZ-Roadtrip took us from Dunedin down to Invercargill.
Like in the 3 days before, we visited a lot of Caches beside the Road.
Unfortunately, the hours were running away. So we couldn't do all the Caches we wanted.
Thanks again to all the Owners, who brought us to so beautiful Places.

We found this cache during our holiday in NZ. We would like to thank all cache owners for showing all beautiful places they have shown us.
As per last log, cache is and has always been present. replaced log book and replaced at head height.
We found it finally, no at head hight, laying in grass. Container is blue. Have put back at head hight.
Had a look for this one. I was not really expecting to find as per the previous logs. Know I find it is disabled. Great spot of history and it is still in working order the horse trough that is!!
First of several attempts while staying at Curio Bay.

First DNF of the day We spend quite some time admiring the horse trough while having a very good look around - no cache found.
On a visit to NZ from Aust, my mate and I looked high and low for this one, but no success.

We had a good look, all 6 of us, it has been pruned and we were wondering if this was done after the maintenance check.
Did a bit of a quick maintenance while I was doing some caches around the Catlins with Mrs Yeetrees, had a spare logbook and noted that the previous logbook was totally saturated was able to to place another logbook into the cache for the CO.
This is a nice looking horse trough, if you like horse troughs that is Found with Aoraki Sheep.
debsnz made the find while I was still looking at the horse trough. Found with debsnz
Found during fozzmiester's South Island adventure. Great fun was had with clever hides and stunning locations encountered along the way. Many thanks to the owners of all the caches found and the enjoyment which you provided.
A quick find but the log was damp and could do with some tlc. Thanks for showing me this interesting old feature and TFTC

Couldn't find it using hint and gps as well as searching. I see someone found it on the ground so may go back and look further.
