4.23. Unarchiving a Geocache

Hi there Homer&Lisa.

This is the 1st of 2 caches we didn't find today. [:(!]

We spent quite some time here at around 11:09:00 AM, but we just couldn't locate your cache. It's either not there, a very clever hide or we are just suffering from "cache blindness", so here's a DNF from us.

Crap coordinates (in the middlle of the car park) didn't help much either.

Was originally heading to Orroroo today for a luncheon with an author. I spent the previous night downloading caches for the drive home that I slept in and made it late to the luncheon. Oh well, might as well do the caches anyway! Second to last cache of the evening. Cache had me pointing in one direction but hint suggested otherwise. Cache in hand in no time. Didn't realise there was a farmer parked on the far side of the road, was he watching me? I hope not!

We found it

Stopped on our route from jamestown to Cowell - left a quarter US dollar and took a pink bead.

Touring Australia having left Perth in late February we are leisurely touring South Australia after having attended Oz Mega.

Today we had a very late start to the day but finally at lunchtime we made a move of the caravan to Laura. On arrival camp was set and Mr Felix then set out ot explore whilst Mrs Felix stayed home to cook soup! [B)]

This was one of the caches he found whilst out alone.

This was the 1st find of a total of 49 caches found by Boxer and 5 Vietnam veterans club member mates, on a 10 day trip up to Marree, then onto Mt Dare, across the Simpson desert to Birdsville,then back down to Marree, then home to Kadina. A very interesting and at times very challenging trip. Stopping to find caches helped break up the trip and get out and stretch the legs.Thanks for the cache hide.

On our Mother's Day/Weekend ramble, and we decided to head out to Appila Springs, so we made a stop at this cache on the way. Loved the old gate made by the blacksmith. One of Mrs Wibble's work colleague's grandfather (try saying that three times fast!) apparently unveiled this plaque.

Following a 4WD Club event at Melrose and driving out via the Bridle Track, it was time to head inland and grab a few caches on the way home.

Quick find and sign and a chance to have some lunch. TFTC.

After a very enjoyable couple of days in Whyalla picking up quite a few caches, meeting some of the local teams at the 4wd event and even clocking up our 10,000th cache find it was time to start heading home again but of course we had to grab a few on the way out. This was a great memorial to the districts early pioneers and it was good to still be able to see some of the workmanship of Appilas first blacksmith still there. There was some very interesting information on the more recent athletic and cycling that used to happen here as well. The cache was located in an obvious location and our name is now in the log.

Must have gotten wet at some point as log book is damp and mouldy. Needs a new small log book.

Mr matmob's grandmother grew up and went to school in Appila. We have been up in the area this weekend trying to find out some family history, but we have never been able to find out just where they lived in Appila. The surname is Maywald if anyone might have some info. So we were pleased to find a cache here. Also took a photo of the gates here, to add to my gate photo collection. The cache was wet, so we dried it out as best we could in the sun. Thanks so much for the cache.

Another cache before it came in hot, Geodaughter & Geomum out looking in one direction with no GPS. Geodaghter & geodad with GPS heading out to middle of nowhere. Checked co ordinates on two GPS's, iphone & android phone all sent us to one place, but Geodaghter & Geomum located the cache quickly. TFTC

Early morning geocache run with TheKellyGang before the heat set in... Geosis ran straight to the cache but I had to follow the GPS had me out in the middle of the car park... Thought was my GPS checked geodads same spot checked apps on a iPhone and android phone all said thesame spot... TFTC
