Spring Victorian Incursion 2024.Day Three: Ballarat to MelbourneWeather: third day of strong winds but more sunshine now.One of seven Woodlands100 caches logged today, as I slowly chip away at this series. I had dropped friends at the airport and I wanted to hang in the area until I knew that they were boarded and on their way overseas. All caches attempted today were easy finds and caches in good condition. A big thank you to Team_Woodlands for setting up and maintaining this most enjoyable series.I think this is my fifth visit to the series and its taken me this long to get to #01! An easy multi. Lots of cars in the nearby car park on this sunny Sunday afternoon.
Ran into the CO while he was on a maintenance run, and the kids asked if he would take them to find a "little book". This one was closest, and so off we went to make a quick find. Little toy dinosaur loot was an added bonus. TFTC and stopping past Team Woodlands!
Doing the Woodlands 100 with my husband and son. Found this little one easily, my son was very happy! Thanks for the cache.
Off we go! Looking forward to collecting as many of the Woodlands Series as possible
TFTC.....first find of the day and the start of a 3.5 hour 10 km walk around the Woodlands Park....fantastic spot
Had a little "what the?" followed by a chuckle when I calculated the coords. Picked up a trackable, left a pathtag. TFTC
Today we spent an hour picking up a few of the caches in this series on a layover. We really enjoyed seeing a little of this park. Thanks for all the effort that went into putting something like this together!
Killing time before heading to the airport. On any other occasion we would be doing a big loop and racking up the finds but one half of the team is not at all mobile. They at least calculated the offset here and sent the other to make the find. TFTC, we will be back!
On a quick maint run and checked on this one as I was going past.Changed the log and sharpened the pencil. All good to go.
After having just spent a lovely week with my family, it was time for them to return home. I dropped them off at the airport for their early morning flight then made my way back out to this area for my second visit to find the Woodlands series of caches. I found eight caches during my previous visit here but today, with much more spare time available, I was determined to find many more. Unfortunately I was unable to find all the remaining caches during this visit, so I will definitely be returning for at least a third time in the near future. This was the first cache I found during my visit here today. As it was still early in the morning when I arrived, the gates at the entrance were closed so I had to leave my car outside the park boundary. There appeared to be a fair few dog-walking muggles out this morning, which kind of surprised me considering how ealy it was on a Sunday morning. Fortunately, they soon departed the area leaving me alone to find this cache. I had solved the puzzle to this one during my previous visit here, but I didn't find it then as there were a high number of muggles coming and going from the park that time. As muggles were no longer an issue this time, I was able to find this cache very quickly. I signed the logbook and replaced it back where I found it before beginning my journey for the day.TFTC
Cant get through the whole series today but had some time to at least get started on a quick trip to Melbourne! Thanks for setting this up looking forward to completing in Part 2 one day.
Great Camo, quick find! Unfortunately can't do very many today as pain is making it hard to walk but will love to do the whole series one day! TFTC! ️
Quick trip to the airport to collect a couple of friends…had a good run on the road so it was the perfect excuse to jump out & grab a few caches - Woodlands 100 here we go!
Dropped the better half off at the airport for an early morning flight so took the opportunity whilst out this side of town to get a start on the series
Set out on foot, all started well but then 3 DNF's in a row was rather deflating
However, after completing a loop of 33 finds I returned to the DNF's and located all 3
Insert happy dance!
Saw plenty of 'roos, views, planes and woodlands
All caches found were in excellent condition, some with new logs, most with sharpened pencils
Many thanx to Team Woodlands for the series and ongoing maintenance - well done
Look forward to a return visit to complete the series

A huge day out with a total of 69 caches found for the day (including #100 for me and #1000 for jaamc_3335). A big thank you to team TACKT for inviting me along for the adventure and Team Woodlands for placing and maintaining all the logs!
Ok - 1 down 99 to go
Team TACKT+C - jaamc_3335, Kpatt17, Nyochi and cazzajane07
Team TACKT+C - jaamc_3335, Kpatt17, Nyochi and cazzajane07
On a beautiful sunny winters day Team TACKT + C set off for on our mission, nice quick find, thanks for placing this series
Out and about with Team T.A.C.K.T including Jaamc, Kpatt and tag along cazzajane07. We had a goal to tackle this series to help cover milestones for some of our members, 69 caches down, 20km of park explored and we had a blast, there was laughter, tears, the occasional swear as we took on the long hike and we all had a fantastic day out with the team :3
Two members of iTEEM were returning from a visit to extended family in QLD tonight, so on the way to pick them up, I searched out a few caches.
This series has been on my To Do list for some time, so I was pleased to finally make a start tonight.
I had the coordinates for this GZ already after some virtual searching, so I was able to head straight to the container in its hiding spot.
All in good dry condition.

A lovely day to wander around the woodlands with very pleasant company of moonbi. Far too many caches to find in a fay at a relaxed pace but found all but 2 of those that were attempted We certainly noted the time that the gates are locked Thanks Team Woodlands for such a huge effort in placing so many caches for us to enjoy
A 2 hour drive starting at 6am (thinking we would miss the traffic, ah no!) Au Fait and I headed to Woodlands to spend the day finding some caches. We started out with our scooters but alas the terrain was not suitable. Heading out to do a couple of loops we soon managed to start ticking off our list. Thank you Team_Woodlands, we had a great day and did nearly 19,000 steps. A quick return drive home.
I has been a while since I have been out to Woodlands, but I had a free morning, so I thought I should make a start with this series.
Unloaded the deadly treadly about 9am on a cool overcast day, just perfect for a ride.
The first half a dozen had pristine log books, and were all in excellent condition.
Then I came across one with a quarter full logbook! What is happening here? Just past the next cache I met up with the CO who was doing maintenance. Stopped for a chat.
All the other caches I did today were in good condition - a great job with the maintenance.
Thanks for keeping this series up long enough for me to get around to them
Completed a loop of about 35 caches this morning. I will be back.
Popped back on my way north to grab this multi.
Thanks, Robmc.

I have a bit of time before I need to head to the airport, so I came back to do some more.

TwoEms danced around bull ants then sang “99 bottles of cache on the wall. If one of those bottles should happen to fall, there'd be…” Thank you for the cache—We look forward to this big adventure.
Due to unforeseen circumstances Mr Smokey Bear will no longer be a part of Team Smokey Bear and will continue his adventures as "SmokeyBearOG".
So I'm relogging all previous finds under my new account.
Unfortunately this log will not show the original logging date.

My favourite type of multi - easy and quick.
After dropping some family off at the airport, I continued tackling this series. It was very warm today, and most of the trails were out in the open. I packed some sunscreen along with my water bottle and made sure I was reapplying it every couple of hours.
All up I walked 11.5km today, and took care of a little under 30% of the entire series, only a few more visits, and I'll have them all done!
All caches were found in good condition, with a few exceptions.

Well this has been a long time coming, to do the Woodlands caches. Many a plan has fallen through due to health and pandemic and work issues. But finally all was on our side for a cracker geocaching day to end 2022.
With bikes loaded up we were off, left St.Arnaud just before 6am and had the first cache signed at 8.55am. Then it was just one by one, following the GPSr.
From flowing trails to bush bashing (with and without tall grass) and even a bit of water, we had a lot. All the while the sounds of planes going overhead, birds around and the odd 100 roos thumping the ground when we disturbed them.
We managed to make good time and accomplish all we set out to do. Despite the heat and a couple of hills I had to walk up.
We believe luck was on our side with the back paddock being opened, after seeing so many had commented on it being shut.
All in All, personally, it was great to finally get this series done with a couple others thrown in that are in the park.
Oh and by the way, we got back home just after 9.30pm. A big days outing.

Find No. 3858. Found with FUF009.
A day trip down to do the Woodland series of caches.
Took our bicycles and FUF009 came with us.
Arrived at the gate, unloaded or bikes, had a cuppa and off we went getting our first cache at 8.55am.
We worked our way through the series stopping several times to watch the coming and going of the jets at Tullamarine.
After a long warm day with several challenges, we arrived back at the car park for a rest and well earned cuppa.
We put the clues together, punched in the co-ords and went and claimed the final cache of the series.

Escaping Gippsland for a few days I figured it was time to start this woodland series I've been eyeing off for a few months. Starting at 7.30 the plan was to walk and cache for as long as I could. I ended up walking close to 10 hours with 66 finds which is a personal best for me and only 1 tumble. The back area is currently closed so I was unable to cache in that section. I thougly enjoy my walk and would highly recommend this series to others who love walking. I attempted to cache in numerological order today but somewhere along the line this went ashew. This multi however was the first cache located today on this beautiful morning. Big thankyou to team_woodlands whom I briefly met at the Whittlesea Mega.
This cache was found today and brings our overall cache find tally to 12083.
I was a bit early for a flight today so decided to start this series. This one was a quick find once the GZ was calculated.
Thanks Team_Woodlands for the cache.

This is where our Woodlands journey began at 11:11am on a wishy washy day weather wise.
Information gleaned, cache found and log signed with dalerious .
A nice simple multi to start my adventure riding around the tracks of this gem in the burbs.
dalerious had been here before, but this was my first visit. We got quite a few done considering we arrived late in the morning.
Enjoyed the ride around even with the burst of showers in between .
Thank you Team_Woodlands for providing these caches for our enjoyment.

First of the day for catnap777 and I and this very cheeky multi was soon enough sorted.
We were on a mission to find as many caches that have had 500 visitors or more. Woodlands proved very bountiful.
We made sure we were back at our starting point before the posted time. [^]

I was skeptical at first. I even considered not trying to find this one. But we stopped on our way out and looked at. Every. Single. Sign. I was about to give uk and call it a day when my partner, used a tool and knocked it out. Beware of spiders. They’re everywhere. TFTC
Wasn’t immediately clear which of the two closing times was meant, but quickly became apparent that only one made sense. Cheers!

SteMicMitSar and I have been wanting to do this series since it was published but couldn't make it happen for a variety of reasons. That changed today. All but two caches were found by us and the log stamped or signed. Lots of wildlife spotted amid the roar of jet engines from Melbourne Airport.

Our second visit to Woodlands to collect some more caches, this time we took the geo-pup.

Love love the multis. On the way back from Melbourne thought I’d grab a couple of extras for the day, this time in the dark which surprisingly was easy

Day three of my Woodlands adventure, just a quick few caches whilst I’m out and about. I’ll be back the next few days to finish off the series. What a gem of a place to visit. TFTC
Number 1 down and definitely good to know
I was so excited to start this 100 geocache journey - a 100 gc series is surely geocaching heaven.
After dropping my daughter off at airport I immediately drove here. New bike in the back, water, food - oh crap forgot to fully charge phone - how far will I get? Hoping for 50
Did the maths and then went hhhhmmm
tftc Team Campion - I am so excited to do this series

Parents were arriving back in Melbourne at around 7ish, so with a Sunday off work because of Easter, what better way then half a day caching. And what better location than right next to the airport ). Walked for around 4 hours and managed to pick up 44 caches from the series. Will definitely be back to finish off the series at a later date. A highlight was seeing all the planes so close to the ground, such a great park thanks for placing all the caches in here.
First of the day, not a hard multi and found the cache after a change of GZ was needed from the first search. Thanks for the cache

I gathered the information and worked out the final GZ. I started this series yesterday. The area here is larger than what I expected and it will be a hot day, so an early start was made. All these caches are excellent. It is a shame the bandicoot enclosure is out of bounds at the moment.

I joined Snips and Co, LetThemEatCache and BoatieTim on their foray into the Woodlands 100 because, well, because I could.
We had a fun stroll, covering nine klicks in all, and the coolish late spring weather was perfect for the activity.
By the end of the loop covering the northwestern quadrant, BoatieTim had clocked up nearly half the caches here between this and his previous visit, and the others about a quarter, so we'll all probably be back sometime after the new year.
For me,.it was a fine day to enjoy the company of others in their endeavours, and a bit of a nostalgia trip.
Thanks, Team_Woodlands. All the caches were in good condition except one with a damp log sheet, which we swapped out for a fresh one.
The grass seeds only took an hour or so to pick out of my shoes and socks. Ah, Spring...

Finally I was able to start on this tantalising series of caches. Living on Phillip Island we hardly get a chance to spend time here. I did come birdwatching here a few times before geocaching, as a birdwatcher. I used to live in the Diamond Valley and this was our usual route to the airport. Today we were up here to drop friends at the airport and had a bit of time to kill. Two found - 98 to go! I hope I’m here sooner than six years! Cache found quickly in excellent condition.

Travelled to Woodlands Historic Park with MsMutineer and Steel to see how many we could catch in a day. A really beautiful spot, with a bounty of trees and birds for the enthusiast, as well as many thoughtful cache placements. This one gave me a chuckle in particular.
Hello to the caches in front of us and behind us on this busy day. We are all vaccinated!
