As I plotted which caches I would like to find whilst on holiday in Tauranga over summer this was at the top of my list.Im so glad and thankful for the maintenance performed, I really wanted to have a crack at my first night cache... Was stoked to see it come back "online" anjwirihana and I headed up here on a lovely summers evening but guess what we didn't find any glow worms, we looked and looked and followed the graffiti instead, haha. After a bit of poking around in likely places anjwirihana came up trumps... And it was only then that we noticed the glow worms Smile we had fun though Smile

glad to have found this night cache with Papaka79 this evening. Had been meaning to do this multi for a long time, but never got round to it, but we both had an opportunity so decided to do it. we spent a bit of time around the carpark hoping to pick up a trail, but couldnt spot a thing, decided to wing it and just spread out and look around, fortunately for us this tactic worked. I used a bit of geo-instinct and went to a likely spot and what do you know...under a lot of grass and cans, there it was!!! After we signed the log, we looked up and saw what we should have been looking for, and from there on worked our waay back to the car. I agree with other logs that this probably could be just as easily done during the day. However I did enjoy the little evening walk and beautiful view, so this gets a fav from me, tftc

Returned tonight so that our hosts could make a find on this cache. Also, whilst showing a muggle friend of our hosts what night caching is all about, we undertook some maintenance on this cache (in light of the previous DNF's, comments and the 'needs maintenance' logs) so that it can be returned to "Normal Operations".

Due to the passage of time and the growth of vegetation the final markers had been completely obscured. The obstruction has been removed! Also the 'glow worm' at wp3 has been lowered a tad to make it slightly more visible. Suggest searching for this wp with the torch reasonably close to the ground. Happy caching Smile and don't forget to look in all directions for the markers Wink.

After a DNF last night, sent an email to a local cacher who very kindly provided a hint (Many Thanks Smile). That small bit of intelligence was all that was required to complete the last stage and obtain the smilie. This is a great night cache which unfortunately due to the passage of time (nature doesn't stop growingRazz) has developed a few issues. TFTC

After a successful find further up the hill, Tarr_family and I walked down to this nice park. The view was pretty good with the lights shining all about. Found the first two 'glow worms' without to much trouble. The third one took a bit longer and then we came to grinding halt. Spent ages hunting all about thinking the cache was in a particular area. We just couldn't spot the last markers.
Can understand why this cache is associated with glow worms. At one stage we turned the torches off, the lights shining through the trees makes it look like a wall of glow worms.
This little caching expedition wasn't all that successful with only one cache found out of three. In the end we left the park around 10.30pm feeling a bit frustrated. Cheers for the hunt and for introducing this neat wee park to me.

CO might have moved on. I may be able to pop around the corner and perform some maintenance. Just need a pruning saw and things should become clear again. Feel free to message me if you need a further clue.

Easily found the first two "worms", after walking around for some time we found third, after that we didn't find anything.

This was quite a disappointing experience Sad [:(!] Sad

Failed to find with together with renelm and aedk.

Gave up together with renelm and Difool

We really looked forward to this one as there aren't many (searchable) night caches in NZ:.

Unfortunately this appears to have turned into another one of those 'can only be found with help from the CO'-caches.. we spent 20 minutes searching after the 3rd "worm", but found nothing but trash and trees..

Gave up at 21:06 - together with aedk and Difool

Really needs to be maintained or simply archived if the CO doesn't care to check up on it. It not for our sake (we'll be gone by tomorrow morning and probably won't come back), but for others who might want to go and have a look here in the future. Please don't let this one remain one of those 'can only be found with clues from the CO'-caches.
A proper hint would do too.. and what is the 'obvious' thing to be looking for at the end? How many tags are we supposed to see?

Could be an awesome night cache...

Gave this a go tonight and I loved the clues however we got to a point where we couldn't locate the final resting spot of Geoff the worm. We then had a cat start following us and got distracted so we thought we will come back to finish this one off at a later date. First go at a night time cache and was great even though we had a no find.

Yayyy.... thanks to some info from the CO we were able to uncover, the cache.

indeed the last home of the glow worms(last waypoint) is out of view these days. the markers are still there, but are now covered by overgrowth. had no saw to remove. once that is done, this will be all good.

thanks kaimai kid, your caches are blimmin hard alrite. lost many hours on them so far, and thats just the 3 in welcome bay ive been to.

hate these ones that say OBVIOUS place. took a while to track first bug, but then got the 2nd and 3rd. was stumped for an hour after that. maybe this shouldnt be a 1.5 difficulty?

how many bugs are there?
is the final cache on GL or in tree nest? or high like the bug?

the third was sort of pointing into thick bush, but the terrain under there was not 1.5, so didnt look too far down that hill.

Will follow squirrel nutcase and go back in the daytime, mustbe in that thick bush.

hope its not in the flax or the kouka trees, too many hiding spots.

Yay. My first successful night cache completed with the help of my young fella who spotted the final resting position while I was looking in completely the wrong place. A great setup which still works well, but only because I brought my super bright torch. Interesting to see this hasnt been found since last year! Cache still in perfect condition considering the amount of rain we have just had. Thanks for bringing me to this nice park.

Located the first two steps, but couldn't find the next. Little fella was sleepy, so we gave up. Awesome place. We'll be back Smile

Have previously attempted this multi late one night... was put off by curtains being pulled back and forth, and front section lights flicking on. Abandoned...

Visited for a quick scout during daylight... again, no find.

Got a nudge at the recent Rotorua 12/12/12 Event. Knew exactly where to find the final. Walked right to it. So... no torch required, came in broad daylight. The cache is still very findable. TFTC.

Oh crap, another night-time cache and it is 1pm; what to do? I tried putting my hoodie on backwards which made it quite dark but I kept bumping into trees, even though my torch on (I think). So I will have to go home and cut some eyeholes or perhaps just come back here when it's dark.

Attempted in the light of day, found 2 glow worms and then no more. Maybe there is a reason why there have been no finds since April.

A quick pre-dawn raid into Welcome Bay on Easter Monday. Chased the glow-worms to their home; thanks for the cache Kaimaikid; good fun.

Our first night cache! Discovered our torches were somewhat limited for this kind of task. Will fix that before the next night raid tomorrow. TFTC

Mini flash mob in the suburbs when six vehicles turned up to find the lost glow worms. Caches in hand soon after we got there. Thanks for the help from the expert night cachers as our glow torches were only good enough to spot one tack. Great evening in Tauranga, pity we had so little time. TFTC

found in the company of other caches ,,never seen so many mobile glowworms . with all the light cache was soon at hand . TFTC

19-Nov-11
After enjoying the Tauranga Get-Together event a crowd of fellow cachers headed out to complete a few night caches. This was a lot of fun and with so many people the glow worms were soon found and cache in hand. TFTC.
