on our long holiday to taranaki and back to gisborne, a loop track. sad to see it go TFTC, cache still there
[green] Home for Christmas. Well, sort of. Home is actually Palmerston North, the rest of the family are in Rotorua, and now I am off to Opotiki with mum to catch up with the rest of the family who left for the beach a few days ago. I haven't swum in the ocean for years!! So mum and I are are caching our way to the beach.
Mum was driving and overshot. She pulled over, I got out and ran back to the cache, while she did a u-turn. Oh, I hate flax caches. So I pulled out the hint immediately, something I do not normally do. after about 10 minutes of fruitless search mum got bored, and got out of the car to help hunt. And then i saw it! Not where I expected it to be at all. And camouflaged with a sock, of all things!

Been past here so many times, it's crazy to find there's actually a cache here! Nice to finally log it Thanks
A muggle was parked here when I drove past in the morning.
All clear now and a quick find.

Was looking in the wrong area for a while and used photos for clues. very nice area tftc
In Whakatane for the long weekend and decided a day trip to Rotorua was required. Parked nearby the cache on our way back to Whakatane and aided by my keen helper (8 year old daughter) we headed to GZ. Arrived at GZ and cache was taking a bit longer than expected (I don't have much luck with these plants). Had to call the wife over to give us a hand. She had no sooner started looking and I found it. TFTC
Day 21 of our NZ-Road Trip brought us up to Whakatane.
Along the road we found some beautiful Caches.
Thanks for hiding and showing us some nice spot.

Quick stop on the way thorugh... very open to public view, but don't think I looked toooo suspicious! tftc
Mr P needed a push to reach the cache, I don't think it meant as hard as I gave but it was fun! t4tc
#5032. Eventually found in a spot different than described. Returned according to the hints. Unfortunately, Green Vyrembi-Coin flying in New Zealand was not in the cache. TNLNSL. TFTC.
Not usually my favourite place to look for a cache but a well considered hide in this case.
TFTC Geckoh!

nice little spot to stop and stretch the legs on the way from whakatane to taupo, tftc
I normally had found these flax hide difficult as the size of the foliage make the search challenging. The hint was bang on and I had the container quickly, SL, TNLN, TFTC and greetings from Aussie cachers

We have had a busy day today, traveling and stopping at places not seen before. We have covered a bit of country today and have enjoyed it immensely.
Another one we nearly shot past...lake was absolutely tranquil today.

Found this cache at the second time of looking,(how I missed it first time I dont know),on our way home having spent a pleasant afternoon by Rotoiti lake fishing, needless to say I didnt catch anything.
I told you I would be back....Really easy find today at 9.48am....So in light of my past attempt it would seem I was a bit too tyred to be looking for things....LOL....Thanks for this one....
Great little spot, My first visit to this area and really enjoyed it. Nice outlook over lake rotoiti took some panoramic photos. TFTC.
A nice quick find, while Mr Furbies played with his new favourite ipad ap - panorama.
Thanks for the hide.
Thanks for the hide.
Fairly quick find on a caching trip around the lakes. When we got to this point we didn't have mobile coverage and couldn't read the description. Replaced cache where we found it, but now that we see the spoiler photo, it's probably not quite in the right place. Thanks.
I hate caches with flax in the name. But in my search, I found the water very agreeable. Wish I had had the time for a swim. Found cache after a bit more searching
Heading over to Whakatane with Kiwi69 for the day. The sun has just started to come up and the lake looks wonderful. Nice to have a break from the driving

On our way to Whakatane for the day. Beautiful views across the lake this morning, TFTC
Goodness, this one needed return2nai's gorilla arms. Not sure where supposed to be (no photo for us) so back where we found it. TFTC!
I spotted the sign to a rest area and figured it would be close by. Sure enough it was. Took a little finding, not because it was excessively difficult, but because everything was dripping wet and I was being a little woose. I was also a little disoriented and couldn't figure out where North was ... and the tide was in! /sigh I have logged this cache as part of 12-12-12: A Challenge? http://coord.info/GC42CNY TFTC

This cache was found as part of my epic as move down south to Christchurch from Auckland - A drive that involved around 3,000km, 350 caches, 14 days, and a bit of a detour through East Cape, Gisbourne, Napier/Hastings, some back roads in the Wairarapa, Cape Pallisier and Nelson/Tasman as well as every CANZ cache along the way that I was still missing. (Hence my excuse for the not as interesting log as I usually try to make mine.) But thanks to every awesome amazing as cacher that placed caches along these roads, you made my trip awesome, and very cache happy!
Another quick cache on the trip! Didn't see the picture, and freaked out when I heard the word flax mentioned, but the cache didn't take too long to locate.
TFTC!!

Found orginally as part of phasevisitor team, now created own account, re-logging as yorkshirekiwi83.
Came down from Auckland and spent a nice weekend caching in Rotorua. For some reason we thought we were looking for a small pill bottle in a flax bush (needle in a haystack springs to mind) but thankfully this wasn't the case and we found the big pill bottle after a short search. TFTC!

We got fairly wet searching here after a sudden heavy rain shower. However did ind the cache. SL TFTC
Easy find inside bush. Waved away the flying bugs, we are used to those. Put back in same place and later spotted another suspected geocacher checking out the bush. Lake level high and Mr S nearly got wet.
Another stretch of road, another cache. We have had a huge success rate with our finds while on holiday, 1 DNF in about 100 caches so we really appreciate all the caches that have been placed in the area and looked after. Cheers

Thanks for the great hint and clue - when I first saw the bush I thought -Oh no! but then reread the great hint - I forgot how pretty this road is even on a cloudy day TFTC

A person was at GZ when I went past this afternoon so called in later after the Kawerau event in the dark and rain. Managed to find in the first place I looked! Logged in the car to keep everything dry.

What a wonderful spot! We started looking too far around the side, making the search harder than it needed to be.
But when approaching from the table, it was easily found.
note: no sign of the 'Green Vyrembi-Coin Flying in NZ' trackable.

Feeling a bit cache-strapped lately. Running out of caches to visit in Rotorua, so having to venture further afield. Out around the eastern lakes on a pleasant evening. First up find at Flaxy Lake. Found easily. SLTN. Joined Munzee. TFTC.
Made a brief stop at Flaxy Lake to stretch our legs as we drove towards Rotorua. Waves from the high lake level and strong wind made us very pleased to spot the cache quickly. TFTC

Thankfully this was a very quick find, we were getting splashed from the waves at high tide. TFTC.
No geocoin in the cache.
No geocoin in the cache.
Visited in a rush the day before but couldn't find it. Realised today when driving past again that I was rummaging through the wrong flax bush.
Once that was established though, it was an easy find. Snaffled the GC to send it south. TFTC

Passing through with a bit of time to spare, so I stopped to eat my sandwich and get the cache. Hmmm... small cache, big flax, busy road... that bugger was deep in! 3rd time lucky though, as unlike the previous 2 times, this time it wasn't raining... Took fish left superhero figurine.
Found while out for a walk. Taking the green vyrembi coin. We will fly that awesome trackable to Wellington and keep it moving. Not hard to find, just hard to get. TFTC! bunnzy and Torpedo
