Logs
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I live full-time in our caravan travelling around NZ, visiting the places we want to visit & doing the things we want to do and fitting in a bit of Geocaching here & there we decided wed drive in the Lake Ohau area & check out some of the local, to here, caches Mrs McMike2012 had scouted out the Parsons Hill track, which went up the side of the hill, joining with a section of the A2O Bike Trail, which she decided wed walk, while finding the caches on the way this wee track turned out to be quite an up-hill climb, so glad to get to a flat section, but made better by all the Mistletoe thats currently out in flower the cache turned out to be, more-or-less, a quick and easy find, logbook signed & cache was returned as found were also pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally TFTC ... TN except photos:LN:LS this was #6,553 for us!
Hi, thanks for the cache The lid of the box is broken and cannot be closed properly. We left it with a rock on top to keep it closed as tight as possible but it might leak with time.Cheers!
Cache nicely tucked away. We enjoyed the nice little walk up here. Another place we hadn't been.
Pretty wet by the time we got to this point. We got even wetter after making our way through the grass & bushes. Mr Curzzz took a better route & got to the cache first. Thanks for placing this one.
With Patandjohn who organised the trip. Day 3 of our A2O with a bunch of HVTC friends.
Attacked this from 2 wrong angles first but found from further along the bike trail. A bit wet after rain overnight with snow to 1000m so cool! Rain clearing by 11 am.
Will shorten the logs for the rest of the A2O to Omarama, as can't copy and paste from cellphone.

A bit of a climb for an oldie! But great to get a find. Enjoyed the bike ride too. Thanks
We were heading to Mt Cook for a wee break and of course were caching throughout the area.
We had an awesome time with some brilliant weather apart from only one day where it didn't play ball. Great to see so many awesome caches throughout the area.
Visiting Lake Ohau for the day.
Good walk but not much of a view of the creek.

Walked up the track to grab this one. There were a few small trees in the area but we soon had the cache in hand.

After not getting this one yesterday because I preferred to stay dry, I popped up today. Even with all that rain late yesterday it was quite dry underfoot. No trouble finding the cache. All in good condition. Thanks Bitsprayer.
Day 1 of our A2O odyssey. Twizel to Omarama.
Once I’d found the BIG tree that didn’t have a suitable hiding place I followed the gps to a not so big tree. Spotted the cache on my third circumnavigation as it had been left away from the base under the branches. Tricky. I replaced it back near the base.

Nice walk up the hill. Made my blood donation to the ever present sandflies as I signed the log. TFTC
First cache of the day on the way up the hill to the highest point on A2O. TFTC
After deciding to stay at Lake Ohau lodge last night we are today riding part of the A20 cycle trail up to 900m , down to the old woolshed for lunch and return to the lodge for a second night
Weather is perfect for biking and also taking in the sights.

What a great place to come to! On a mountain bike from the lodge, this was the only trail to do today as it has rained for most of the day. Lovely place here, all good, thanks.
Saw some fine weather for Twizel for this week and managed to find accommodation for the time we wanted. Drove to weir, e-biked to the lodge and then along the next leg for a bit. Grabbed this one on the way back.
Easy find, once my Garmin had decided exactly where GZ was!

An enjoyable weekend enjoying the scenic McKenzie area, and finding some great caches along the way. TFTC
Day three of our A2O adventure. I think we had been psyching ourselves up a bit about the serious hill climb today. Also, we had swopped around our first two days because of the weather, so yesterday had been a ride of 77 km from Mount Cook Village through to Twizel. We were a bit worried that our legs would still be feeling the aftereffects of the long ride on the previous day.
However, the morning was off to a good start and things were running smoothly. It's better not to think about what's ahead on the trail and rather just enjoy each part as it comes.
I had a quick stop here to see whether I could locate the cache, and after a brief search had the container in hand. After adding me name to the log sheet the container went back to where I had found it, and I was heading back to the bicycle to continue the ride up the side of the hill.

On a very windy day this area was surprisingly very sheltered. Found it easily. Nice little patch of native forest. TFTC
Day 3 of the A2O
First cache of the day, and It was still pretty cold when I hit this one. The GOS seemed to be giving me the runaround, but, it seems it was the trail that was doing that.
Glad I stopped and checkout out the view
Thanks for the cache bitsprayer

Nice to have a few of these to entice us further up the track. It is a good view, like it says. Thanks!
Another great find up this walkway. Managed to dodge the rain and had just a cold day with some anow on the mountains. TFTC
Continued along to here but that's as far as I'm going this time. One of these days I'd like to do the A2O trail so if I ever do that I'll pick them up then. TFTC # 12,551
A bit wet today, so onto plan C biking and driving. A nice quick find. Cheers.
KiwiLegend was looking for a partner in crime to find a few caches around Omarama, so I volunteered to join in on the adventure. Had a great weekend, some biking, some canoeing, some FTF, some lonely and a very lonely cache. Thanks KL
Thanks to all the CO's for placing and maintaining these caches. Cheers.

In Omarama for a caching weekend with BCD. A very early morning find at the start of our tramp up towards Mt Sutton. TFTC
This was a short stop at the beginning of our weekend tramping in Freehold Creek. Found with debsnz
On our way up into Freehold Creek for a weekend tramping tramp and couldn't resist stopping for a cache as we passed. Found with AorakiSheep
We did like the view from here – but preferred a number of others we saw as we went back down. A nice easy sidestep as we explored an area neither of us had been to before.
Thanks for the fun.
Thanks for the fun.
It's a lazy day for me today and after sleeping in, I step in the car to go to Lake Ohau. I've been around the lake and now it's time to have a little stroll. With the 2 others nearby visited, I thought: Why not go and get the third and last one? Which I did; the cache was found quickly. Thanks for hiding!
A20 bike tour. A few of caches along the way, not much. So I take them all. Greetings from Germany.

Found with MrandMrsChosen1978 on our Waitangi Weekend road trip. Thanks for the hide. enjoyed the walk up the track and the views were awesome.
Found by mrandmrschosen1978, with Granville86a, while on a road trip over Waitangi Weekend. We started off traveling through Central Otago and on up to the McKenzie Basin exploring Lake Ohau to Mt Cook one day, then we spent another day by heading down the Waitati Valley before heading back down south. As we explored these areas we found this cache along the way. Thank you for the placement a stunning location
Fefe.adrien and I went to the lake Ohau for visiting. Despite some showers we enjoyed the view on the lake and mountains around.
So quiet in winter...
Easy found for all boxes.
We signed on the logbook with our team name : Lekiprokos
Tftc
The last one on this walkway. So damages on trees around with the wind.

The weather is not perfect, but Ninalila and I choose to visit this side of the lake and enjoy some caches.
We discovered nice places and views and liked walking around.

BaldEd and I started off on Section 3 of the Alps to Ocean Cycleway from the Ohau Lodge. I always had reservations whether I would make it or not with my gammy knees.
I got to here reasonably well and we clambered up the hill. We made it hard for ourselves.
Cheers for the cache.

This was the first stop on Tufty's and my cyclocaching adventure riding the Lake Ohau to Omaramara leg of the Alps2Ocean cycle trail. Nice convenient cache to the trail except that I led Tufty the hardest posible way to the cache by taking the direct track on foot from the bridge. Little did I know then that it would have been better to have continued cycling and the final walk would have been much easier. Doh! [B)]
Auf einem Abenspaziergang von der "nahen" Lodge hier vorbei gekommen um diesen Cache zu suchen. Es hat geklappt und das hat gut gezan, an einem Tag mit gar wenig Erfolg beim Suchen und Finden.

Mallorcatommy and I were on our journey through the southern island of New Zealand. With the help of geocaches we came to so many beautiful places, saw breath-taking landscapes and had, all in all a very wonderful journey! Thank you to all owners for placing all those nice geocaches!
