Well that was trickier than expected, the lantana is taking over and expecting it will engulf this cache soon. Took me awhile to find the correct track and the right spot for the creek crossing. Found the tree and yes it’s at the base of it.
Made the find and the container is in need of some tender loving care, thanks missluckie

After some caches today to up the calendar count. Decided I could cherry pick some caches closer to Gosford and augment them with some ALs.
Didn't get everything I wanted - one multi left me unsure. But picked up a puzzle I've had in the back pocket for years, and managed to expunge a previous DNF.
###END OF CUT AND PASTE SCTION###
Had a look at *Depesky Decoded #1* but wasn't confident enough of my answers. The mothers and kids near the published coords didn't help.
So instead of looking for that one I came here to the site of a previous DNF. To be honest, it wasn't so much a DNF as a "Couldn't work out how to get to GZ"!
Today I put more into it and realized I needed a creek crossing - a well placed creek crossing.
So picked my spot, made it without finding myself up to my knees in water - didn't even make my ankles - and spotted what looked like a cacher trail, which surprised me. About 5 metres out I spotted the container. Easier than I expected.
As others have noted, this needs TLC. Managed to sign the log - just - but I expect it will be a red blob sooner rather than later. Even worse, the lantana is closing in on GZ and isn't too far away from providing unwanted natural camo.
Replaced as found, back the way I came.

Parked on the side of the road and headed in to the reserve. It all started off promising with some nice clear trails, but it soon became apparent that they either petered off to nothing or stayed on the wrong side of the creek.
Finally headed in for a bush bash to cross the creek. It is quite overgrown here. Found the cache after a bit of trudging around, but it is no longer under ferns, but at the base of a tree.
Contents very wet.
Thanks for the cache!

It's time this one got sorted by the CO. A NM has been on it for almost two years. It is gnarly as.
Cache needs urgent maintenance.
Log too wet to sign.
Misleading description as the area is very overgrown at the moment.
Found the cache about 4m away from the suggested location, just lying on the ground (under a fern)

Tricky find. Vegetation is quite dense! Log book is very wet - I couldn't sign it.
I was here 5 1/2 years ago and again another dnf! The place has changed! I’ll put it on my ignore list for now.
Having an appointment in the Gosford area meant we also had the chance to pick up a few caches while in the general location with ilook4geo.
First off we encountered the lantana barrier but managed to find a way around that. So we were able to locate the container. Sadly this cache needs a new log book and a good clean out.
Some TLC by the CO would be appreciated. TFTC.

Came along here with goingplaces2 and made the find after finding the right way in. Cache was replaced securely as found. TFTC.
Found with shaneo58 doing some around the Central Coast near Kariong Area, getting very nice during the day, only a couple of days into spring. We got to GZ, after trying a few different paths, the whole time we were there the dog never stopped barking, making the place unpesant, the cache was wet, and may need a new container and some TLC.. This is the 5th cache of 8 for today. Log signed and caches replaced as found. Thanks For The Cache missluckie

Found it with BillHill531 today. Bit of a bush bash after disturbing the dogs but got there. Log needs maintaince. TFTC missluckie.
After following the wrong path several times, I decided to just go by the GPS and do a bit of bush bashing. Track is very underused (to the point where it's barely a track) but GPS was very accurate. Whole thing is 2waterlogged though, might need maintenance. TFTC!
Well, a brand new day, a brand new year, and a brand new decade. Why not add a brand new souvenir and log to all the brand new stuff??! Today, lady novo and eldest novo kid had some stuff to do in west gozzie. Youngest geokid and I dropped them off and came up here for the find in our ["new" (old) geocar](https://coord.info/TB79T21). We got to within about 50m where anything resembling a track disappeared. But we persevered thru the Fury Furns (or is that furry furns) to get to GZ where geokid spots the cache somewhat in the open. By all indications, it has had a hard life, missluckie. We'd recommend coming out and replacing probably everything as it has suffered water ingress, which is strange cause I don't know when it last rained lol. We signed our name and re-hid as nearby as we could, considering some cover - still fairly easy to spot. We found a much easier way out, completing a bit circle of the park. Got back to the other novos before time which would have to be a first so all in all that's a pretty good start to the year! TFTC, missluckie, and happy new year all!

Grabbing a few caches in the area to help clear my 30k radius. Found the barking dogs straight away, Gosh they didn't stop . then a small trail which just went no where. found something dead which wasn't pleasant then luckily a quick find at Gz Thanks for the cache missluckie tnln replaced as found sl

Was on the way home from a event with katajuta85. I saw there was a nearby cache so we went for it. We drove around trying to find a way in. Got to the barking dogs, gosh they are horrible and i took the hard way down to the creek. Katajuta85 then joined me on the track. We got to 12 meters away from gz and after reading logs. I just went bush and found a log over the creek with rope on it. After that a easy find of both caches
Then back to katajuta85 who was standing at the last house near the dogs tftc

Found it Mr Roo after an Aus Day Event at Umina. We read some of the previous logs, as we could not find obvious 'track', but heard the dogs, so knew we were close. After a few false starts and looking for a 'track' down, the the containers were located out in the open. Agree with previous entries, that it is very overgrown and we might have been better attacking this from the other side of the creek.
Being in the area for a new puzzle we headed over afterwards. Not sure if the best approach we wandered around and did the creek crossing and circled in on GZ to find both containers side by side so signed them both. TFTC
In Gosford today for work and arrived a few minutes early so decided to grab a quick cache. Initially tried from the wrong side of the creek and rather than jump it in work clothes headed a little uphill to an easier crossing point. I then found both caches within about 5 feet of each other. One of these really should be removed and the contents condensed into one to save confusion. TNLN TFTC
Couldn't find this one and the kids were bored of waiting for me but I found a possum in a hollowed out (telegraph?) pole.
Had our reservations about looking for this one due to the recent dnfs. Thought well we're in the area lets give it a crack. Lucky we did after a short search came up with both! Signed both and carried on with our day.
Was a bit concerned about going for this as lots of DNF's but thought we would give it a go. Wasn't long before we had both CIH and signed both logs
The dogs and the fact that it is too overgrown make this Geocache unsuitable for young kids. (Mine are 5 & 3) Got to within 12 meters though...
Need a machete to go the last 12.
Never mind, onto the next one

A bit too overgrown with lantana to make it to the end unfortunately. Being brand new I am not sure of the etiquette but I might go down there with a machete and open it back up a bit if that is permissible. Please send me a message if that's off limits
Just way to overgrown and found the dogs on the way, but I just couldn't find a way in closer than about 12 meters. In the end I had to give up as it was going to be a serious bushbash through lantana. Maybe another visit with a machete is in order. Thanks missluckie.
I parked on the street near the open reserve and began my walk up the bush track and then turning down a small little track towards the creek. The creek was bit too wide to cross there so I went back a couple of metres to an easy spot and followed that little trail to GZ. Lots of ferns and very overgrown.
Found both containers at GZ which seemed odd as both just laying there about a metre or two apart. It was actually the second time today I've found two containers and signed two logs at the one GZ. Saw a large water dragon on a stump on the way back out. Thanks for this little walk, TFTC.

Followed the path which led me to the dogs. Then made my way to the cache after lining myself up with the house. Managed to stay dry. Was relieved to find it, what a surprise that the last finder was my friend Chudles.

After a few false starts, I eventually made my way to GZ, where, after a short search, the cache was soon discovered. After signing the log, I turned around, and spotted a bit of colour, and found the second cache! So, two signatures and one smiley. The walk out was a lot easier than the walk in!!! TNLNSL TFTC
Funny things sometimes happen when you look for a geocache.... Today I found 3 caches and got 2 smilies.
Parked, and followed the nice footpath which led to grass then a nice bush trail followed by a skinny bush trail followed by me ended up in the 'wrong spot' like I think everyone else. So back tracking to a rough path in the bush to some gaps in the bush to, well, just bush. I'd say this area is getting more and more overgrown - just how I like it! Reading in the logs that the co-ords are good, I clambered the last 5-10 metres through the bush, before seeing a flash of blue - woo hoo! Slunk through some more plants, grabbed the cache and took a big step south to a spot I could sign the log. And then - what is this at my feet? ANOTHER CACHE!? I figured (correctly apparently) that the original cache had gotten 'lost' and had been replaced. Looking at the logbooks it seems everyone's been happy with the co-ords as the had soon spotted one cache or the other! I signed both logs, and replaced both caches EXACTLY where I had found them. Took nothing, *left nothing*.
So, the 2 caches are:
1) Round plastic (fruit?) container, black tape around it. Blue lid so maybe that Bower Bird messed with it? People have been signing the logbook from both the front and the back. In the bush. Take a real big step south and you'll step on the other cache.
2) Square Sistema, stands out because the logbook is red. Sitting on the ground. Take a step or two south up into the bush and look for blue to find the other cache.

This was the first find for Tash and Stephen. Once we figured out that we could use the in app compus we found it easy enough. Took a mini horse and replaced it with a mini etch a sketch. Can't wait to discover more of these.
Out and about taking advantage of the first fine day we've had for a week to grab a few caches I hadn't yet done in the Kariong area. Given the heavy overgrowth in which GZ sits, I thought this would be harder than it turned out to be ... but clearly the satellite gods were on my side today. After parking in Hempstalk Ave, I followed a trail I saw going from the park into the bush in the direction of GZ. When that trail took me past but 20m from GZ I turned around and started heading back, but then saw another trail heading off down the slope ... so I followed that, and when my GPS said, "We're here", I looked around and replied, "Yes we are!" SL TNLN.
Thanks for this cache missluckie and for a pleasant little walk in the bush.

After doing a nice bush walk we decided to do this cache as it is only abou 80m from where we live. Have been wanting to get it for some time but have never got to it. Finally got it on a beautiful morning. TFTC. TNLN.
Challenging to get the right track to cache, but found with only a bit of backtracking. Took a key ring and left a hot wheels
Like KRS it took me a while to find the right track and where to cross the creek to get to GZ. Once there the co-ords were spot on. I would have been furious if I hadn't found it!
2 green catbirds were in a nearby tree calling - a weird sound but better than dogs.
SL & rehid cache then retraced my steps towards the geomobile. Part way there I spotted a brush turkey who seemed to know the best tracks so I followed him and was back at the geomobile in about a quarter of the time it took me to get to the cache.

22/09/14. 4:23 PM. Cache #1864. Streak Day #92. I was in Kariong for a couple of sneaky extra caches, on my way home from Green Point to Sydney. After "Fast Hit", this one looked like it might be more challenging. I parked in the street after which this cache was named, and made my way on foot north towards Oakes St, looking for a way in.
Once I'd found a nice wide path, which followed the creek, the next challenge was to work out when to take the right branching track to cross the creek. Once I'd picked the right one, I was able to get to 0m and I agree with another past finder that these are good, accurate coordinates, because it didn't take me too long at all to see the cache. I signed the log and replaced it, with all the neighbourhood dogs going off. 3 finds for the day, I thought I'd leave it at that, so got onto the Freeway and headed for home. TFTC }:)

After a heads up from Rharzwor on the best parking location, I soon found myself at GZ. The coordinates were some of the best I've seen. When my gpsr said 0m I looked down and their was. SL. TFTC.
Found 12:42 pm. I needed to find my daily cache and since my geobuddy wasn't available decided to try for this one. I've been here once before with the geokids AuroraEve and SkyPirate~ but that time we ran out of daylight and by torch if seemed an impossible search besides which the mosquitoes kept carrying us away. So we gave up after searching for a while. This time I was prepared to persevere and it paid off after using a little intuition as well. The GPS coords were a little out of sorts in this area. Anyway signed log and left a mobile phone holder behind as a momento of my visit. Contents was a little damp but otherwise pretty much ok. TFTC

This has been sitting on my map amid a sea of smileys for way too long, so on the way back home I took a short detour to make the find. The location is so damp that the mosquitoes were out in force even though it's the middle of winter! I wonder what they eat when there are no cachers about? In spite of the dampness all around, the cache contents are nice and dry. Thanks for bringing me to an interesting little oasis of green in the midst of suburbia.
The hint here reminds me of another dnf I had down near the Gong, it was hidden in some bushland and the hint was 'under a bush'....there are hundreds of ferns here, so I had no hope.....
The creek was a bit smelly but once we got over this and ventured into the ferns geo kid found it.
Tried a few paths in before I landed on the 'right' one, but even then it took me a good hunt at GZ to locate, as my GPSr settled at a tree about 4m away. In the end spotted a flash of colour. TFTC Miss luckie.
Unfortunately with this one I wasn't as lucky as the CO! attacked it from the wrong side of the creek, from the wrong end of the trail. Everything was wrong. Finally made my way to GZ and when my GPS said I had another 10m to go I managed to see it out of the corner of my eye.
TFTC cheers

We can see why there hasn't been an influx of finds for this one. Fought our way to GZ and found the hide before long with perfect coords. Plenty of youngster swag to be had in this good size container.

Couldn't find it. Did find a zip lock bag at GHz though.may have been muggled
Found this one with a bit of luck. Cache was not covered but I do not think many people would go to that spot. Some moisture in the container, dried container and swaps. A very small hole in log book bag so I put it in a second bag. Tftc. I had no swaps with me. I have been going to come here for a long time and I am glad I did, nice area. 2:40 pm. Entered using ipad at cache site
Never knew a place like this existed in Kariong! Thanks for showing me this wonderful reserve. TNLN TFTC!
Parked in the nearby street and made my way to GZ but it kept jumping about thanks to trees once again. Crossed the creek a few times, even zeroed the GPS down to 1m but it didn't help, so I resorted to scouring the undergrowth, still didn't help. I'm afraid you just need to follow the right trail and there it will be - totally uncovered. Saw a bush turkey, but missed the photo as usual.

We must have come in from a different direction to others as we didn't see any stone rings. We ended up on the wrong side of the creek to the cache and had to find a creek crossing, thankfully one wasn't too far away.
Once in the right area the cache was found in a very shourt time.

A really fascinating place. Started on the wrong side, found an easy crossing, crossed paths with several turkeys and then got enveloped in fern land. Would love to know the story behind all the mysterious stone rings. TFTC

Found the obvious route to get there, passed a crack in the wall, some velociraptor nests, got confused because there's a lot of them, did a Dirty Dancing scene from the movie, then a cluster of nests became more obvious deeper into the forest, went too far past the flowers, found a cheshire blue frog who we talked to and helped us find our way. Dig deep and you'll find it.
On our way back had a run in with a velociraptor and the all mighty Godzilla....it godzirra!!!
Be careful wear appropriate foot wear. Have fun

A day of working at Kariong and therefore a day to really test out my new knee. I think it works. Found it after scrambling around, reluctant about too much gymnastics (creek crossings, vines, fallen trees etc). A very nice place for a cache.
Wow. What an excellent location to finish on today.
I know it is only a back yard creek in the suburbs, but I had visited here once before and decided I was not dressed for the location... my work suit is not best attire for geocaching.
So back today, clearing off some of the caches in my "within 10Km radius" list.
I found the bower bird’s nest and watch him pretending not to see mew for a while.
then whilst searching for the cache found a blue lid off something, and went back to the bower and made an offering...
if you are in this area you are not that close to the cache. so have another look.
I wandered back and forth along anything that looked like a trail, then decided there must be other trails.
so did as others had suggested, and tried an alternative perspective. which took me past some alien/ancient artifacts , circular rock rings. probably from stone age man fire pits... then into the deepest darkest jungle.
fearing that I may be taken by a Velociraptor at any moment made the hunt even more exiting.
There are some many wonderfully coloured dragon flies in this area; I almost forgot to continue the hunt.
Finally after a good while of watching bower birds, and dragon flies, avoiding dinosaurs and cavemen. I happened on the correct path. And the cache was in hand.
I signed the log, and wanted to leave something significant, but had already placed my travel bugs and tags in other caches today. So with nothing else to put in, I left some cache-cash! ($2).
Good luck to the next hunters, and watch out for the ancients.
I'm giving this cache a favourite point.
