What a wicked wench you are Marlene and now you've gone wayward before I could wander back for another wack at finding your wonderful whereabouts! Wugger it!!!!!

23-Mar-14
Nooooooooo! Devastating. I was hoping to one day muck up Marlene's mess, no more Sad

22-Mar-14
This area has changed considerably since Marlene first used it. What was once a grassed seating area is now a native garden. The cache has been damaged several times; intentionally by who knows, unintentionally by the landscapers and, a few times by miniature wildlife.
In the meantime, Marlene has matured and mitigated her misdemeanors. I enjoyed knowing her. She taught me a lot about hiding and finding things. But the time has come for us to part company and go our separate ways. I wish her all the best for whatever she chooses to do in the future.

Thanks for the fun Marlene!

Trusting the gps, found the cache.. It was well stuck and I needed a tool for assistance.. Looks like some creatures may be making it home.. Cleaned it up for an easier retrieval for the next cacher.. Thanks .. I like the deception. Cool

Oh Marlene. Why must you hide things? It's not nice you know! You are very good at it though. Calypso62 and I spent close to 90 minutes hanging out in your 'hood, we found the keys, the boot, the fish... And then nothing. We also found splinters, blood, a spiderweb and who knows what else. We filled things with water and poked and prodded lots of things. You were too good for us today, but be warned. You are on our radar and I will not lose - we WILL be back! Thanks Baktrak - and congrats again on NSW Geocache of the year for this one, from what I've seen today, well deserved! See you at the next event, where I'll no doubt moan about Marlene!

07-Dec-13
Marlene is a wicked wench. Skybomonkeytown and I spent soooooo long looking for her. We found some of her booty but not the one we were hoping for! We'll be back. This one will NOT beat us! Twisted

18-Oct-13
I found a boot to go with the keys that I found last time. And then I wandered around searching fruitlessly. Eventually I decided to really think out the clue. And then it hit me... What if... Ah yes, there it is! Good one!

Cheers

I arrived at Marlene's corner, hoping to catch her in the act of Mischief. For some strange reasons I think Marlene was also playing around with the satellites as I couldn't get a good fix on GZ. After a PAF for some help with GZ and only to get message bank, it was back to searching, back and forth through the park chasing GZ. After a while I see something that needed investigating and soon had the "Boot". Ummm what could this mean? So I concentrated my search in this part of the park and soon had the fish. It was now that some kind of pattern was starting to develop and I kept going past something more often than other things and searched this item and found the Keys. It was then that my paf rang back confirming GZ. Ok whats the hint mean! Ahhh. Searched a bit more and had the cache in hand. Marlenes's madness was defeated. This has been certainly a fun cache Bakrak and it gets a fav point.

We found the keys and the boot but the rest eluded us.

I find four keys and a padlock. I couldn't make anything open sadly. Had to head off to a meeting, maybe next time.

marlene your mischief is marvellous. many a minute of maddening meandering, mostly misspent. awesome little cache. tftc Wink. sticking to geocaching first principals really helped.

09-Jul-13
Only found the keys... I thought that was the easy bit

09-Jul-13
This cache does not deserve the disrespect of just finding the keys and logging a find.
Too much effort and time has gone into it and if the last finder has not SL then a no find in my books.

Found this with EDF many moons ago. I did the usual searching of the likely spots, but EDF narrowed it down. Sad that the cache has been archived. Thanks for hiding and maintaining this. Cheers.

Mighty mischevious Marlene marauding monkeylike means mad men moaning meanly.
Arduous angling achieves almighty allround achievement,
Really ready rounded right roaming russicking rocks roving relooking regarding revolving remembering.
Leaning left loftlike looking looking looking luckily lucky.
Energy effort everlasting emerging earnest
Never noting nothing nonchalantly
End

OK so it doesn't make sense but at least it is in the spirit of the alliteration magnificently demostrated by Baktrak in the description for this cache. It has been on the list for a while as it is just within the 10 km limit but on the extreme south western perimeter so wasn't likely to get around to it unless in the area. Rinsemesocks and I went down to get Dopey today and I thought it would be good to have a looky here on the way home. I didn't hold much hope given how difficult it has been for others.

Now here is the ironic part - given I have failed on so many other tricky caches - it turned out to be a park and grab. I hadn't received any info from past finders except what is written in logs. In fact it wasn't really due to any particular caching skill, I just happened to look in the right spot. Maybe this detracted from the overall satisfaction of the cache, as it is when you have to work hard for something that it becomes more memorable. And this also means that I only found two of the items mentioned in past logs, before finding the cache. I won't say which - just because RMS and I didn't suffer doesn't mean you don't have to.

We had intended this to be our 400th cache find, though got carried away with others and forgot we had found more caches than we realised.

SO here it is ..... 'Marlene's messing with me and my Mrs's marbles!'
Had plenty of fun in the dark , found the Boot and the Keys. then nothing!!!! Geowife even tried the keys in a nearby key receptive device to no avail.
Did find a obvious place for a cache or perhaps something else Marlene may have hiddden, though in the end nothing- which left us wondering if muggle intervention. Probably not though, given others experiences, regardless we enjoyed it! Will be back for another attempt on this well Favorited smilie!.

13-May-13
Arrived at Marlene's Park and spent the next hour walking in circles, eventually finding the boot (needs some repair work) and the fish. But something else surfaced. I alternated between searching and sitting, searching and sitting, but no luck. Eventually I TAF (text a friend) and he sent back some cryptic clues. Didn't help much. Eventually I found the keys, but it didn't seem to help. Eventually another call for help was needed. A clever hide and a lot of effort put into the cache. Cheers.

20-Apr-13
Found the boot and the keys, before some burly local muggles approached wanting to know what I was doing! Seems they were looking for some graffiti artists to use as punch bags - I thought they may have been Marlene's Minders! Will have to come back to have a more serious look for the rest of the goodies one week day. Enjoying the intrigue so far...

17-Apr-13
That was really fun! Until we didn't find it! Next time

05-Mar-13
Ha ha had me looking every where!!!
Found the pegs, the boot, the keys but no fish??
Solder on try not to upset the environment than I noticed something not quite right closer inspection bingo found it Smile
Sl and carefully replaced it back.
Thanks Baktrak for fun little hide.
And the cup came in handy,

I'd just done the infamous "Poison Cache" not far away and this one came up. I rarely get down this way but seeing as I know the CO pretty well (and it's well out of his home radius) I felt I had to have a go at this one.

Funny how everyone must tread the same path and uncover all of Marlene's hides on the way to the last laugh. Got it! No... Got it! No... Got it! No... Got it! This time it's the one! All I need is some.... okay yes... that's NOT it...

Sat down and contemplated the clue and looked again. Did a quick EAF (Email) and got a scintilla of information. I went back to the car and got something else to help me and finally the light went on! Aha! That's it. This time for sure. I was only certain when signing the log!

I really wish I'd brought the geoteen for this one. Maybe I won't tell him I've found it and come back one day. A favourite of course.

Thanks.

16-Dec-12
A fantastic cache and we achieved a very memorable milestone thanks to Marlene's Mischief as our 2000th find. We found all Marlene's other hiding spots for boots, fish, pegs and keys before finding the very checky hide for the log. We completed the signing duties with a big grin on our faces and re hide. TFTC. A fav pt from us.

07-Dec-12
With all the fav points I'd thought I better give it a go and try and stop Marlene. Found boot, then fish and looked along the fence line, couldn't find anymore, so I'll sit down and read logs. Spotted something I should check, ahh the pegs, so checked underneath then ahh the keys, checked around again here and there it is. Fav point deservedly earned. Well done Batrak. Marlene now has my name on her list. TFTC

Fantastic cache.
Armed with my cup of water, I found the boot, then the keys. I was left scratching my head and resorted to texting a paf, who said they will call me soon. I kept looking whilst waiting and found the cache. I texted "found it" to my paf, then retrieved it only to discover it was the pegs. My paf then rang me and steered me in the right direction.
What an excellent cache. I highly recommend it by torchlight, It makes it a little more fun.

After receiving a hint -about- the hint at the nearby GCNSW 2012 Christmas Party Event, I set out with mum and dad to help put a stop to Marlene's thievery! After arriving at GZ, I let mum and dad have a look around, and pointed out the 3/4 decoys I'd already uncovered. Mum uncovered the 4th and final decoy, but we were still left scratching our heads as to the final hiding spot. After some discussion, a new strategy was formed - which ultimately led to uncovering the true cache!!!! Very Happy *hurrah* Wish I'd have saved this for my 500th cache, although maybe the pressure would have been too much at the time ;p Thanks for placing such an awesome cache Baktrak - you definitely deserve the favourite points this cache has accumulated ...I'll gladly add another! ^_^

02-Dec-12
Out for the day with Superslothsonya saying this was "a good one" ..... indeed. Most decoys certainly easy to find and very distracting .... OK, so that's what they're supposed to do !!!!! The clue is very inportant ... and makes sooooo much more sense once CIH ..... OK, again that's the nature of cryptic clues. Once SSS persevered with our revised search strategy (related to "what decoys actually do" and "the clue") ..... SSS had CIH Big Grin (and I must have missed it Sad by mm if not micro metres ..... haha [:o)]). Thanks for the challenge and TFTC.

Had fun poking around and finding the keys, pegs and boot.couldnt find fish or cache after a maybe 45min search so decided to resort to our PAF option (which if course we had planned out, thanks Gaztek). After the pAF the fish were soon found, and then to the cache... A huntsman (or funnel web) spider was sitting near where we were searching. We tackled it for a while and finally managed to flick it away with a stick. Finally, with the help of gaztek and the clue, we were able to find the well camouflaged cache. Great one! Very different, and loved the decoys!!! Also bought something from the nearby garden store (I'm not saying what...) TFTC!!!!! Oh, and I didn't mention, #1000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We ate chocolate and bought magnums for after dinner to celebrate. Also, photo will be uploaded soon. A definite favourite, and awesome for our millennium. Thanks especially BakTrak. Big Grin

19-Oct-12
I found the pegs, the keys, and the fish, but it took a paf to turn up the actual cache, very clever, very clever indeed, another fav point from me. Thanks Bt.

16-Sep-12
We found some of the items left by Marlene before discovering the actual cache. Nicely done Baktrak.

13-Sep-12
Really amazing hide!
It's clear a lot of effort when into the construction and decoys involved in this cache. When first approaching gz my co ordinates were way off, I went back to a new gz and soon started finding the left behind items!
I found this at 1am this morning on my way home, luckily the torch I used illuminated the cache better and allowed it to stand out...
Thanks for an amazing hide!!

TFTC Baktrak,
But what an experience. We were on our way to Northwestern side of Sydney and I thought I could show Nana Nell what I had found. Started with the pegs and checked to see if there was more. Then the boot and and again looked for more hides. At this time I tried to read into the hint that the trees need a close examination and gave up after a few minutes.
Next was the keys. This was where the problems started when the supporting plate came out with the key case.
What do I do, I couldn't just leave it sitting there and I remembered I had some 5 Min Araldite in the vehicle. Mixed and held in place and a couple of minutes later it fell down again. Another mix was made and this time I supported it with a stick which I have left there. Because of this, I will log a maintenance needed but will also ask the next visitor to make a note if there is a problem please for the CO.
The end result is that after re examining the hides I had previously found and still not finding the fish , I did manage to find the important paperwork that listed the people who know where Marlene hides things or at least the paperwork if not all the other items.
Worthy of a favorite and finally visited a group of trackables learning about urban caching within Sydney.

What fun we had here today. We were at Rookwood Cemetery today to do the Hidden Rookwood Sculpture Walk. Sat down and had a very nice lunch at the cafe there and read Marlene's logs. Lots of advice about the hint so we determined to follow that advice. Arrived at GZ and found - well - nothing! Took us a few mintues before Marlene's madcap mischief started to reveal itself. Oh, there are the pegs. Aha, very tricky - the boot! Hmmm - what's that - oh there are the keys. She's a little devil isn't she!? Now what about those stinky fish. OK we got them but they weren't that keen to go back in the pond. So the keys helped us lure them in. Now where is that list?? Oh, you little imp! Who would have believed it? Thanks for bringing us here and thanks for the entertainment, Baktrak! SL TFTC Cheers... Gaztek

Hello Baktrak,

Thanks,

Driving over to Paddys markets today from a completely different direction. I was going to find this to mark #400 but #399 didn't work out for me so here it is, #399. Have to find another of my great dnfs to mark it. Two previous fails on this one for me and a few hints from friends. Finally did it. Thanks for all the mischief.

WOW~!

Akkatracker had been pestering me to do this FOREVER so, when I had a soccer game at Tasker Park, I seized the moment. We drove and reached GZ. I began looking. Hmm, that would be a great hide. OH. Hmm, what about that, NUP! Wow, that's gotta be it, sorry. Here we go, fantastic, oh damn.

Time was running up but I was desperate for a find, especially as I had had a taste of how good it was.

I went to soccer, lost 2-0 and then came back. Akkatracker gave me a hint at soccer which pushed me over the edge. A fantastic hint, makes sense after you've found it. Overall, I highly creative, ingenious and fun hide which I highly recommend a favourite for that.

13-Aug-12
It seems a shame to call this a DNF.
I believe in myself it will be a work in progress every time I pass with a bit of time to spare till I find the correct hide.
Upon arrival today, I found the container of pegs and then the Gum boot and well from there, the keys and tried them all in the visable lock without success (didn't try to hard because I didn't want to jam one in there because I didn't believe they belonged).
I have an idea what I am looking for but just can't find it yet so until I do, all I CAN say is that "I'll Be Back".
I am looking forward to one day visiting a group of trackables to share the experience with their owners.

08-Aug-12
Magnificent! Many thanks for a truly wonderful cache.

03-Aug-12
Dropped by here on the way home from getting my car serviced in greenacre. Saw how many favourite points it had and decided it would definitely be worth stopping by. Sat in the car eating my lunch and waited for a small group of parents / kids to leave (which thankfully didn't take too long). During my time alone in the park I had 3 'found it' moments, but alas, the cache itself evaded me ...logging this as a surprisingly enjoyable DNF! I'll be back ;p

23-Jul-12
I have got to do this! This looks fantastic!

14-Jul-12
Marlene's mischievious multiple misdirections caused much mashing of masticatory muscles, most memorably the masseter.

Our third attempt and found it this time! Quick find today after much thought and reading all the logs. The hint is very helpful! Thanks Baktrak! This one deserves a favourite. Smile

11-Jul-12
After sitting for 10 minutes with Mosaikmum waiting for locals to go away, it took a matter of minutes to find. This was the third visit but with no help from others, no insider information, and just 4 red herrings. Tricky but had a log to sign in the end. Great hide. TFTC

02-Jul-12
You know what, this deserves my DNF Wink even though I've left it for a while... My slight insider knowledge of the hide should have helped. It didn't for some reason... I blame the darkness Wink

I had been here once before but a muggle was sitting on the seat on the corner and wouldn't sod off so I couldn't have a look. This time I had the park to myself, and after finding the 3 alternative bits of mischief I was somewhat stumped. After about 20 minutes I tried the PAF option but he wasn't particularly helpful, send him back to England I reckon Razz

A bit more searching and thinking about the hint and I finally spotted the little bugger. Clever use of obfuscation here to throw people off the scent, very devious Cool Thanks Baktrak.

Had read about Marlene's Mischief some time ago but hadn't had the opportunity to give it a go. Set out on the mission on 21/06/12 with VK2RG...thought we were pretty good as we found the decoys in fairly quick time. At one stage I called out "I've got it!" only to hear VK2RG call out at the same time - neither of us "had it" Sad Spent at least an hour searching high and low, but Marlene was too clever for us. Went home; read and re-read all the logs, re-read and talked about the clue. Set out the next morning refreshed and hoping we'd be luckier. Both days were muggle free, so no problem there, but again we searched for another hour or so; still no joy! Very frustrating...but fun! Smile Thanks for the fun Baktrak!

18-May-12
Ah Ha!
Bought the little 5yo man over this morning and he had fun finding all of Marlene's mischief (which I found on my last visit). He managed to find three of them with no help. I then went straight for the cache given my conversation with Team WALLS. I was kind of thinking along the right track last time but not quite. The solution is certainly in the hint. Thanks Baktrak very fun (if not, a bit frustrating) and neat puzzle.

25-Apr-12
second visit to cache and after a couple of hours searching finally found the goods. tricky cache.

25-Apr-12
was going to have another look on weekend but couldn't wait, so along with lockogang we searched the area again found all the clues this time but still no log and after all agreeing we couldn't give up we continued searching and finally after a closer inspection of somewhere we had looked at many times there she was. Great cache Baktrak. The answer is in the clueBig Grin

22-Apr-12
spent a couple of hours here with Lockogang found 3 or the clues and will have to return

20-Apr-12
Today is a great day!

My first visit (see below) was unfruitful except for the herrings. Second visit was brief and eliminated a train of thought ( but is now in the process of becoming a Cache of my own devices. *evil grin*).

My visit today, once again brief, gave me the goods. I had been on the right track just didn't inspect well enough the first time.

The clue is very important, with out the clue this thing woud be a full 4 star.

Thanks a lot Baktrak. Now off to create the several evil caches I have in mind Smile

"Stinking Marlene"

"Oh dear, Mercy me Marlene",
you make some cachers scream.

Looking high and looking low,
some won't know where to go.

For a while they'll will sit and stare,
then of spiders they'll beware,

A cup in hand will help them?
then definately annoy them.

Fisherman will spit a fish
when no food is in dish,

or chew the boot they eat
while sitting on the hard seat.

Clothes peg stuck upon their nose
Car keys grabbed, and of he goes

"Giving up" is what they'll say,
I will return one fine day.

07-Apr-12
Note to self. Don;t bring a 7 month old with you caching. Quickly found all the NON caches. But then the crying started. Left. Back again soon.

05-Apr-12
It was such a nice day today that I decided to forgo the painting of the house and go out for some caching.

I have been meaning to get over and try this for a while now. I went looking on my GZ map and couldn't find Marlene's Mischief - then realised my premium membership had expired. Sorted that out quick smart.

So, noone around when I arrived and quite quickly found keys, pegs, boot and fish (in that order) but I'll be stuffed if I can work out where Marlene has put the important document. Must be a hide I haven't seen before? I am going to have to come back with reinforcements and some kids for cover (I felt a bit strange sitting in the corner of the park on my own - it is not often I don't cache without kids as a diversion).
"Mercy Marlene!"

26-Feb-12
Couldn't look this morning due to a presumed muggle sitting on the seat with an empty lunchbox. Hmmm, was it a cacher waiting for me to go away so he could replace it. But I couldn't see any signs of a logbook, even though he kept looking at me suspiciously. In the end decided to leave it for another day.

26-Feb-12
Eeek! Surprised I didn't realise I was that scary-looking. (Hey Richary, I was that 'muggle' ... we'll have to set up some kind of secret handshake or something for future. Wink

But truthfully, Your Honour, I was on the way home after an unsuccessful attempt at a FTF at Flemo Car Siding (couldn't find a way around the locked gates to get to GZ) so thought I'd have a go at this legendary cache.
I recovered all the stuff Marlene hid; the boot, then keys, then pegs, then fishing lines (I didn't have a cup so made do with my emptied lunch box, he, he).
Was sitting having a think about where the list might be when I was spooked by some guy in an official looking ute looking like he was going to do line work or something. So abandoned search.

A wonderful Rashomon moment Smile

Will return to find that list next I'm out This way.

Found with geofamily

Well this one had this us guessing we found everything that had been hidden and some more not so hidden items (glasses frame and a soggy notebook).

We searched for the list of names high and low and where ready to give up when a PAF hinted that the hint was usefull. Eventually we came up with this tricky sneaky hide.

Brilliant cache!!! One of the best I have ever done!!!!

As Mr H said, we rocked up here expecting just another urban playground cache. Well, we couldn't have been more surprised when Mr Us found all the Pegs that the Mischievous Marlene stole. No sign of the clothes though....

Over the next 30 minutes or so, we managed to find everything that Marlene hid - all but the elusive list. She certainly hid that well!!!

We widened our search area, we though laterally (sometimes too much so) Then then we just really over thought it. Eventually, Mr Us just had a sit & think & quietly came up with the goods, whilst Mr H was off playing with the spiders in a nearby tree.

Baktrak - you have excelled with this cache & I only wish that more cachers would set quality caches like this one. It was great fun & we thoroughly enjoyed it.

TFTC

Cheers

Brilliant!

Mr H & Mr Usat31 were out on a caching day and stopped by at this one. We had no idea what we were in for, and had not looked at any previous logs. We just thought it was going to be another simple & quick find...

Within a few seconds of arriving at GZ, Mr Usat31 found the cache, or so we thought, and Mr H marked it as found on the GPS ready to move on. Wait a minute...what's this? Lots of pegs? Must be a dummy cache - nice one!

A few minutes later, Mr H lays his hands on what he thought was the real cache...but alas, it was a boot. Then we find some keys, then some fishing line. Oh what fun! But where's the real cache? We were there for quite some time, and were pretty much stumped, and then one final thorough search of a certain area revealed the goods. Fantastic!

This cache has to be up there with one of our all time favourites. The thought and effort gone into setting this one up makes it all so worthwhile. Well done!

Thanks Baktrak for a top cache!

Yes this time I brought along my geo boys because I have been telling them about how cheeky this little girl has been. They were having so much fun until I said well now we better find the cache. It was about a day later after I DNF this cache I thought I should check there and sure enough there it was Yey!!!! My Geo boys were so amazed I knew to look there but I had been thinking about for a long time.
Fantastic Cache Baktrak. I look forward to some more from you soon.
I gave this cache a favorite when I DNF it now I will give one for the fun my boys and I had here today.

Whilst out on a kayaking/caching day, I mentioned Marlene's woeful deception to Altaire and suggested they may like to try and find her hidden stash. I told them nothing of Marlene's exploits, so on the way home I found my self visiting Marlene for the third time in 2 days. I watched on in amusement as Altaire tried to force her hidden list from it's hidy hole. Then I watched on in amazement as lady Altaire visited Marlenes neighbours and returned their laundry then says is this the list that Marlene stole. What I couldn't believe she found the elusive list in 5 minutes flat, right in the spot I was going to search next.......This is one very clever cache and a brilliant way to finish a great days caching.
Adding our names to the elusive list, we told Marlene to go hide it again, while we went fishing!

After completing the Hancock Clan's excellent On Yer Boat series over luncheon at the Pleasure grounds, Tronador had regaled us with tales of this wacky cache. It sounded intriguing and we decided to accompany her for a crack at this one - albeit with hopes held low due to the reported trickiness of the cache and preponderance of DNF's to finds. Pulling up next to the reserve we were glad to see it deserted. As Tronador had previously visited this cache she let us have a go first. Lady Altaire quickly didn't find the cache - very amusing. In a trice I didn't find it either - ho ho ho.

We searched on and very quickly Lady Altaire didn't find it again! Mmmmm.... how long was this going to go on for we wondered. What a lot of effort has gone into this one! A real cut above your standard urban. Anyway we carried on and this time Lady Altaire really did find it! Sneaky. To complete the loop we carried on until all of the cache wasn't found by Tronador. Excellent cache.

I did a cache down the road of RMS's troll series a few weeks ago and looked at this one but did not have the time. It sounded interesting so came today with CF jnr. We were excited to think we found the hide and thought this was too easy. Sure enough it was too easy as it was one of the missing items that Marlene had hidden from her neighbours. After a while this was beginning to be too familiar a story and our heads were being scratched a lot. Read the hint, re read the description. Sit, think some more. An hour goes by and jnr says to PAF. We do and its a case of what can you say other than look harder and think better (thanks Zalg and welcome back by the way)which really was no help at all.
Something in the past logs makes us think it has to be here and as we "Baktrak" on the information we have gathered, it reveals itself. Its as close to cheating in hiding a cache as we have come across but thoroughly enjoyable.

The best cache I never found, mum and I had such fun searching for this cache earlier today - thanks for bringing a smile to our faces.

Toriaz had been eager to do this one and since we had come to Parramatta to do a night cache on Christmas Eve, we decided to keep caching and fill two dates on our calendar. This was the fifth and last cache for our trip.

A few things have been said about this cache. I think it's witty and playful and I like the fact that there is a story woven into this hide. The owners have gone to a lot of trouble. I don't want to say much more than that, because it is best to be surprised by the cache itself. What I will say is that this is not so much a cache, but rather a geocacher's playground.

As for our part, we were pretty happy with ourselves. In the previous 3 days I had had no more than 8 hours sleep in total and Toriaz not much more. We took about ten minutes to find the cache and it was found at 1:50am on Boxing Day morning, in the dark, of course, with two small torches.

We felt pretty smug.

Toriaz suggested we go off and find Bifrost, just to destroy the hopes and dreams of the hordes who had already looked. I said that it wouldn't be fair to them. So we went to a nearby McDonalds, instead, safe in the knowledge of what would have been. WinkBig Grin

This cache wouldn't normally have come to my attention, as it's well outside my usual caching area. But it got mentioned to me by one of the early DNFers, and I read the cache notes. It sounded like fun, so when we were close by tonight for other caches, I suggested we should look for this one as well. What a great decision that was Smile.

I haven't giggled and had this much fun with a cache for ages, everything about this was well thought out. At first we just looked around and found the evidence of Marlene's mischief. Then we stopped the looking and thought carefully for a bit. Bikerbuddy made a suggestion of where we should look, I looked there & spotted the hide. Brilliant!

Very deserving a favourite point. Thanks Baktrak for the great cache Smile

This cache is my second closest to home and I'd been reading about it's evilness. So today I went on a mid morning ride picking up and dropping off a few frogs along the way. The little reserve was deserted. Oh good... peace and quiet.... but Marlene was very mischievous today and just would not give up her secret. Without much ado, I found her neighbours pegs and expected to find the bedsheets too, and I was a little worried I may have stumbled on her stash of hidden unmentionables. Not so, but as I stood there scratching my head along comes grandpa wanting his gumboot back.
By now I seemed to be walking around in circles and sure enough looking in one more hidey hole revealed...... no cache, though Marlene's friends will be rather happy. I had been here so long and some muggle family with children were now in the playground and eyeing me suspiciously. I searched and searched some more but those pesky muggles were giving me the heebie jeebies, time to leave. I rode back to the cycle way and was not disappointed that I did not find Marlenes important list. As I was riding along to another cache I came across Zalgariath, also on a ride. We discussed the woes of Marlene ( without giving anything away) and after thinking about the hint some more I thought I'm going back, maybe just maybe....... so I rode all the way back and found I really knew nothing at all. So for now Marlene has kept her hidden treasure.
Even though this is a DNF it is the best DNF I've ever done.

If I had known how tops this cache would be I might have saved it for GC #3000! I long passed 3000 total thanks to GCA months ago but small milestones still bring a smile.

Caching brain and experience were on today. 3rd spot lucky and after less then 5 minutes I had cache in hand. My first guess was somewhat correct but not what I was expecting! I had been having a related discussion on this brand of evilness just recently over in Ireland which helped a LOT Wink

Managed to find a few of Marlene's bits and pieces before the real one was located hehe. A very worthy Favourite point! Great to see 3 Fav Point worthy new caches in just 2 days so close to home! The other being the Pirates #1 at Concord and Tron's Multi (GCA Only) in Rookwood. Look them up! Neither are as devious as this, but still great.

Cheers Baktrak, this was my closest to home unfound, and could have been a lot more painful that is for sure! Very Happy

Also dropped a GCA Leap Frog 50m away too!

Wow... SPECWODATASDTOAISTACULAR!!
En route to the Event there was this one. We (glennren & I) decided not to go to the event and attempt a fabled cache nearby. Found it- Nup, Found it again this time in a better spot, nup, Then Glennren found something extraordinary... nup. Went on to find it once more but... you guessed it... Nup. Marlene was really getting on our nerves, she had hidden things that had gotten favourite points from us (C620 Big Grin Then we sat and thought about it. Found a great large sized cache 5m from GZ but couldn't open it... Nup. The rain started to drizzle and we started to pack up. Had a good look at the hint but nup. Then a spark of Marleneness struck me- didn't even need the hint- alas a great hide Baktrak and good presentation, I assume this costed a small fortune to make. Have seen a similar hide before- won't mention its locality cause that would be cheating Razz
Many thanks to the CO, Baktrak for an amazing cache. Turns out we were the only people to find it without help and currently hold the record finding time with 29 minutes Big GrinBig Grin
SL as 6th and 7th to find (there is an unlogged person)
Thanks again Backtrak

This is one of the best DNF's I have posted to date.
I had such a great time at GZ I think if any one saw me they would have thought I was a crazy man that had escaped from an institution.... I think if I had spent any more time there (1hr in total) I would have really got a little closer to being locked up!
It's a no go from me Baktrak but I will be be back.
Thanks for the fun lunch break Big Grin
I am giving it a favorite and I didn't find it!!! Too much heat today I think.

Driving past today. In the short period here I saw the longest train i've ever seen, three railcorp trucks on the tracks and a Jemena employee. Thought I had it quite a few times but no..

Mercy Marlene! I was in the area with 15 mins to kill and this seemed like a fun use of my time. Actually as I log this I realize I may on fact have found it without realizing at the time. Will have to go back as soon as I can to complete.

If you're having real trouble, log that and I'll see if I can squeeze a hint out of her to help.

Oh Marlene, you have excelled
A fitting stash in your reserve.
Although your cache we have expelled
A favourite point you do deserve.

There's just one question left, unput
An answer hoped, from you
How did grandpa lose his foot...
Was this more mischief too?

Great to meet Croyden crew and join in their search. This cache is thoughtfully put together and (I think) easily worth the difficulty stars. We would have been searching for a very long time (perhaps never to be found again?) if not for a clue from TLM.

Of course we added our names to the short list of those who know where Marlene hides things. Thanks Baktrak.

Woohoo. Joint FTF with Alfyboy. Finally I can lay Marlene to rest. Returned here this morning and spent another half hour scouring the area. Finally gave up and headed for work.

Got an SMS from Alfyboy inviting me to a nice little lunchtime rendezvous. The two of us searched and searched to no avail and then across the park strolled the CO with a grin on his face a mile wide.

Under his watchful gaze we continued, scratching, poking, climbing. Finally he gave us a hint that we were warm where we were searching. What's that!!! We didn't notice that before despite checking that spot numerous times.

We then retrieved the elusive little bugger and completed the logging duties. Thanks for the FTF prize, I hope Alfyboy invests his share wisely.

Good to meet you, Baktrak and thanks for a very challenging and extremely well thought out and built cache.

Cache #832; GAFF4; Weather, Sunny; Helpers, TLM; Condition, Great; Finds2Day, 1st; STATUS, Big Grin FTF Big Grin GPSr @ GZ - 3m

After a DNF yesterday, I realised who the CO was. Ahh smartypants Baktrak. So I sent a message to Team Lego Men today to meet up at 1pm for another hunt. I arrived with TLM again at GZ snooping around. We traced and retraced our steps, with an ever so subtle hint from the CO. It didn't help and 35 min later we were still looking, searching, wondering, cursing... Wink

Baktrak then shows up, and simply stands close by, smiling and watching. TLM and I seemed to be getting closer, TLM checked something we had checked before, and I too then saw something out of the ordinary. AHAR...There you are you little thing...AWESOME is my first impression, EVIL is my second! We checked the log to see we were FTF...YEHARR... SL and replaced and then had to go for another little hunt to get our FTF prize. Pathtag and some scratches to share. Thanx Baktrak for a devil of a hide, and great to meet you Team Lego Men. A favorite from me, this ones a good'un ! TFTC

Wow - what a cache! After reading yesterday's parade of DNFs, I rather naively thought I might be able to snag a FTF this evening. However, checking in from work told me yet again it was not to be. However, I did manage to secure an early mark, so I took the kids out with me when I got home, and made the short hop to Marlene Reserve.

After a few seconds of caching: "Found it!!" came from CC jnr. Alas, all was not as it seemed...?!

Then Syd (Sjamp) arrived on the scene, and we continued to comb over GZ. By this time I had put out a PAF call to TLM (who taunted me that I had not be there long enough to earn a hint, before acquiescing (of sorts)!!). Our steps were retraced once again, looking for something that we had missed...and eventually, it was duly found by Syd! A wonderfully crafted hide awaited us, though I'm not sure I would ever have found it without the nod-and-a-wink?!

We ensured everything was back in place before saying our cheerios, and the kids finally got their swing! A definite 'favourite' for me, and I suspect this one will rapidly accumulate more as more cachers arrive to try this one.

1st rate effort, Baktrak - TFTC!

CC.

Oh 'arlene. Not only have you used up all available stock of the letter that follows L, but you have been tricky as well.

I arrived late in the day, not realising just how close this was until I received a phone call asking why I hadn't searched yet. So to GZ I headed and searched until I thought the neighbours would wonder.

But I didn't find what I was looking for. Not yet.

Difficulty 2???. What did I miss? Searched for about half an hour in the drizzly rain, several times thinking I'd found it. A lot of work has gone into this. The closest I came to finding anything useful was an live railway detonator which hopefully had nothing to do with the cache as I put it back into the railway land out of reach of little hands.

Finally reinforcements arrived in the shape of Alfyboy and we continued searching. He came up with another red herring before I had to call it quits. I'll return.

MERCY MARLENE !!! If I could give a favorite on a DNF I would!

I saw this come up and dashed out for it. Knowing there are a few caches close, I was expecting someone at GZ. Sure enough as I approached, caught TeamLegoMen in mide search. He had already been looking for a while, so I joined in the search. Found it, oh no I didn't...Found it, oh no I didn't...Found it, oh no I didn't...The frustration level was building...TLM had to leave and I continued. Another 25 mins (50 in total) and I gave in to Mercy and Marlene! Clever! I'll be back.

Never had a FTF... Still don't have a FTF... But I thought I did... thought I did... thought I did.
Very, very cool, and can't wait to come back again when there's enough in the logs to suss it out!
Many thanks for a terrific DNF!
