Down from Whangarei in Christchurch for a few days visiting family and meeting our first grand daughter. Today was nicer weather forecasted, so getting out and about to knock off a few solved puzzles and challenges and other incidentals along the way. This was one of the first for the day, but I hadn't realised just how busy it would be around here with the A & P show being on and it also being Anniversary day. Luckily the big line of muggles waiting to get in, had no view of me ducking off into the bushes, where the cache was a nice quick find, thx to the good hint. Have enjoyed this series, as these sort of puzzles just seem to suit my mathematical inclined grey matter. TFTC

04-Nov-24
Armed with jandals and a chilly bin, a couple of Aussies headed across the ditch for a 3-week tiki tour, exploring the beauty of New Zealand.DAY 19: Exploring Christchurch. Now we have all the clues, its time to solve #6. Thanks for showing us this special place by placing this cache, 8ManAfter tn koe~~

03-Nov-24
Nice! Found cache at more like knee height. Clue noted. On to the next. This type of puzzle was new to us but we practised and eventually solved all 5 that we could in this series. Thank you for the puzzle and cache.

25-Jun-24
One of my favourite cache series. Thanks for the cache!

24-Apr-24
A bit of bush bashing but found it. TFTC

07-Apr-24
Found it now!

07-Apr-24
Hi couldnt find it today Sad

01-Apr-24
I came across this puzzle series last time I was in Christchurch and solved the first five when I got back to Palmerston North.Finding them is one of my aims for this trip.Having DnF'ed #1, I was keen to get as many of the others to try and solve #6.This one was successful and the puzzle piece was dutifully recorded. ---I won tickets to see [Lve](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_(band)) play in Christchurch last time they were in NZ (20+ years ago) but I couldn't make it to the concert (I still have the tickets!)They've come back down under and I'm not letting the opportunity pass me by again! With my work leave and (more importantly) my home leave approved, I flew down last night for the concert tomorrow night. Today I cached my way around Wigram, joining forces with ThatDarnBear for the afternoon. I managed to find caches for the last three missing dates on my Hidden Date calendar, which finally qualifies me for [The 365/366 Challenge - Manawatu](https://coord.info/GC7R80A).And this cache was one of them! [:X]All in all, an excellent day.

28-Feb-24
Unfortunately the road is closed and we had to skip this cache. What a pity as we will not have a second chance for another try

15-Nov-23
Another great puzzle in the bag. Thanks, 8ManAfter! Im loving this series. Now the bad news. I found the cache on the ground. Its right where it should be but it appears the wire has rusted and the cache detached. Its safe and dry and I spotted the bit of wire hanging. Clue is intact. I replaced it in the fork of the tree, knee height. Exact same spot and securely in place, just a bit lower.

27-Oct-23
Now, this was a new type of puzzle for me, and with help from the Internet I have managed to solve it and the others in the series. I have enjoyed these puzzles as they give me something new to solve.Day 5 of The North Islanders in Canterbury tour with Liss Crew. We are targeting specific caches -oldies, and puzzles. Of course, there will be days of laughter.During our time here, all found caches were signed as NZL, regardless of whether either of us has found it previously, or with individual names for Challenge Caches according to whomever was claiming the find.

27-Oct-23
I'm from Paihia/Whangarei and I'm down in the South Island for 6 days with NZ_B on a geocaching trip. We signed the logs as NZL. I had a few goals for the trip and I was very pleased to achieve them all Smile*50 or 60 puzzles for my diamond badge on project gc*40 caches to get to my 6000th find*some South Island minutes for a challenge*but mostly a clean out of my ever growing solved puzzle list.Monday we collected the windmill geoart on our way to Oamaru. Tuesday the focus was solved A2O puzzles, the sunflowers and other solved puzzles. Wednesday we headed back to Christchurch collecting challenges and more solved puzzles. Thursday's focus was the Smile series around Lake Ellesmere. Today it's the old Port Hills cache and puzzles in the Christchurch area. Glad to collect this series on this trip. #1 was a dnf and I now need to work on solving #6 to complete the set. I hadn't seen this puzzle type before your cache and I enjoyed solving the new puzzle type. We drove around in circles a bit here trying to find our way to gz. Thanks for the puzzle that I solved in April 2021 Smile

12-May-23
This was more of a mission to find than too solve. Google maps. Had me over there. Then I thought to drive through a sports field but that didnt work either so then I spotted an entrance to a walking track off a street and over a bridge which had a lotta. Eels under it. Still enjoyed the walk. Quick find once I made the final.
PS solving was difficult as well.

22-Apr-23
Took a bit to look around, my coordinates seemed a bit off. We loved doing to puzzle! Thank you!

08-Mar-23
Ouch. Watch out for head high thorns. 4 down but no time left today. Bummer.

28-Jan-23
On a trip to visit my sister and getting some caches for a challenge. Never been to this part of CHCH. All good with the cache. Thanks

03-Jan-23
Solved this one years ago but never got round to finding. Had long ago deleted the solution and coordinates but had a rough idea of where it should be located. Relying on memory, skill and a quite a bit of luck, after a fair bit of crashing through the bush I located the cache! Log signed, TFTC Smile

01-Jan-23
Not too bad all round.

17-Dec-22
I had solved this one a few months ago when I fell in love with the puzzles. Now with some free time it came after a quick search!

Coords a bit off, but the hint helped immensely!!
Thank you 8Manafter for the series and cache!!! Will be coming for the final now!!

14-Dec-22
The puzzle wasn't too difficult and the cache was a fairly quick find, although for us it seemed to be a few metres southeast of our calculated coordinates. TFTC

29-Aug-22
Today is a good day, days really seem longer now, it's getting warmer during the day, and I finally get to grab this one. It fills a dot on the calendar plus a dot on the D/T grid... and I've got extra info to try and get the final in the series... woohoo ! Nice area for a walk, very quiet today. Both container and logbook are in very good condition. Great cache location for the find, logging and getting the needed information. I love these puzzle, there are hard enough to make it fun. Thanks for placing and maintaining this!

25-May-22
A quick find with angelic_kiwi - tftc

25-May-22
Really enjoyed solving the puzzle, thanks!

14-May-21
Bit of a mission working out how to get to this, but glad I persevered! TFTC and puzzle! Smile

25-Jul-20
These puzzles are a lot of fun, I had not seen them before this series and I am pleased that I can actually solve them.
Fining the cache was a bit of a hoot, it pays to have a bit of local knowledge rather than follow the directions on google maps, but not to worry it was only a wee bit out and a quick (but wet underfoot) jaunt to gz. Once there I made quick work of finding the cache, second visitors today. I forgot to look and take a photo so we may need to come back to this one to get the numbers we need for the last one.
Thanks for placing the cache and thank you for the smiley

25-Jul-20
We really enjoyed the challenge of this puzzle but no break for us, as now have the necessary figures for the big beast. A lovely frost this morning so a very pleasant walk with stunning views of the mountains. Clever hide of cache re the blending colour. Thanks for this great puzzle and the cache 8ManAfter.

19-Jul-20
Talla64 and I were with TipsyTui when she found the cache and we wrote our names in the logbook. After returning to Kapiti and finding (and studying) some helpful Sujiken websites I can now legitimately put in an on-line log. Thank you for the puzzle and the cache, and for placing it in this lovely area.

19-Jul-20
Hooray! Happy dance. Nice and easy find on a pretty grey day, but the walk blew the cobwebs away. Still have 2 more to physically sign then onto the end beastie! TFTC and enjoying the brain workouts! Cool

19-Jul-20
I've had this one solved for about 2 years and have been keeping an eye on logs, waiting for the area to be reopened. Today we chose this area for a walk and were very impressed with the transfornation here since our last visit in January 2017. The final was found by junior cacher and interesting to see that busy_paws had also visited earlier this morning. Tftc, enjoying the series.

19-Jul-20
TipsyTui, who had solved this one, also found the cache in this lovely area. Although I've added my name to the log book, I'll have to go home to Kapiti and solve the puzzle now, so I can legitimately log it as a find. In the meantime thanks for the cache, we enjoyed a very pleasant walk to reach GZ.

15-May-20
Back in business! Keep safe, and thanks for your patience.

31-Mar-20
STAY HOME, STAY SAFE, STAY SMART!

DISABLING FOR NOW. ANY LOGS POSTED FROM NOW UNTIL THE CACHE IS ENABLED WILL BE DELETED.

STAY HOME, STAY SAFE, STAY SMART!

28-Feb-20
I had a couple of ideas about how we could fulfil the T5 and D5 caches for tomorrow. This was one of them but somehow we had a bit of miscommunication about what we were doing here and why we weren't doing the wherigo. Oh dear - its been a long but enjoyable day. I have really enjoyed this series abd have had this solved for ages but it has been fenced off. So it was great to finally sign it off today. In the end it turned out I hadn't brought the rest of the information with me to work out the D5 for tomorrow but I do have the numbers now so I can complete it on another visit and we have come up with a Plan B. TFTC # 15,309

28-Feb-20
Our 51st and final cache for the day, not bad when we needed to travel from Nelson to Amberley before finding our first. I solved a couple of the puzzles in this series a long time ago but didn't have the corrected coordinates for this one so it was great to be able to tag along with Isis and sign the log. TFTC Smile

13-Jan-20
Having solved the series up to #5, we have decided to go out and collect them to get the details for the last of the series now that #5 is again accessible. A straightforward find today. TFTC!

04-Jan-20
Went out to check on this one, and found everything in good shape!

21-Sep-19
I came out to check on the site today. I got within 80m, but was blocked by fences. The site looks all but completed, but didn't want to trespass to check on the cache.

Please do not archive, as I think it should be fine in a couple of weeks

20-Sep-19
I have it in good authority that the construction in the area will be completed within a couple of weeks (!). I plan to re-activate the cache at that point. So sorry for the delay (out of my control), but will be happy to send info to those who can prove they've solved....

24-May-18
GZ is not looking v flash now and it is uncertain if it will still be there when the site fully re-opens in a few weeks. I'll mail the CO.

Otherwise it's been.... a challenge... with photos. Thanks again though.

06-Feb-18
We solved and found all puzzles of this series a few days ago except for this one. We couldn't reach the final because of construction. Too bad, this one fits perfect in our D/T matrix. So we waited until public holiday and thought we just use the gap. Nobody was here. We went straight to GZ and located the cache after a few minutes. Signed it and back to the car. Yeah, we are on the move on our way to 81.
Thanks for showing! Tftc

02-Feb-18
Cache is inaccessible at the moment. Send me your coords, and I'll send you the clue for #6. Sorry for the inconvenience!

01-Feb-18
Whole area is fenced off for what looks like major, long-term construction works.

20-May-17
Found all safe and secure on a bitter Canterbury day tftc found with team_macdonald on a geo adventure

20-May-17
Great puzzles. I really liked doing them and they weren't as hard as I first expected they would be.
Great quick find on the cache and thank goodness for that as that southerly wind is rather cold.
Found with rayzr2

19-Feb-17
I did all the puzzles (apart from the final) prior to this trip to Christchurch in the hope of getting the required information to work on the last one. Lots of pittosporum to choose from but the cache turned out to be a quick find.

16-Sep-16
Hooray got the last clue for number 6. Now to solve. Have enjoyed so far! Tftc and for bringing me here. Never been here before. Nice to be out of the city hustle and bustle.

20-Aug-16
As a puzzle inventor myself, I had to try this series. Nice puzzle. As the title suggests, this one was tough. Eventually had to resort to Excel and even that took some fiddling. Once I got it working, it worked a charm and I had this one solved too, with the go-ahead from GeoCheck.

Decide to retrieve the caches in order. Thought I could take a shortcut to this one, but it didn’t pan out. Luckily there were a could of traditional nearby I could nab before re-routing. Nice walk once I’d relocated. What a pretty place, another one I’d never been too despite living nearby for many years. Avoiding muggles was harder here than the other’s in this series. I was very nearly caught out by one of the four-legged variety! Despite that I soon had the log signed and the last piece of the puzzle for the final of the series. Now to solve the puzzle…

Thanks 8ManAfter

13-Aug-16
nice walk in the park in the evening after the rain, solved the puzzle in taranaki for the trip to Christchurch and soon had cache in hand. First part of the 6th puzzle written down. TFTC

28-Jul-16
With a new headache I ventures forth to aquire the prize and wandered along the area and caught me a evee and rat thing playing Pokémon Go. Found the cache and now ton find my way back to the car Thank you for bringing me to this place and placing this cache 8ManAfter from Mr Cuddly Brick for the cache and series , cache 1361 on this mighty day the 28 July 2016 Mr Cuddly Bricks You Tube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCspYYJI5ZIvUE9ncq1_rpYw

12-Jun-16
Nice find on a fairly cold and wet day

15-Nov-15
Having collected all the other clues for no. 6, there was no way of stopping me now! Never mind that the rain intensified and the wind picked up, and I was sidetracking a little from my destination... I could have put on the raincoat, but who needs a raincoat when there is a cache to be found!! So I headed further, equipped with GPS and pen, into the rain and wind. Eventually I made it to gz, and the greenery offered some shelter to retrieve the cache and sign the log while keeping it dry. A quick walk back out to the car - and now rev up the heating to dry out a bit. TFTC!!

10-Nov-15
Love them or hate them - at least all the challenge caches force you to solve puzzles that you put in the too hard to do basket. Enjoyed the series (yes, solved them all and are now starting to collect them) and are looking forward to the final (once all caches have been found). Thanks for letting the brain work and a short detour on the way home. TFTC

06-Nov-15
The puzzles were certainly getting tougher by this one but the cache find was dead easy. TFTC and Puzzle.

Find #6753

Day 12 of my New Zealand Cache hunt. I set myself a massive challenge to find 41 Mystery / Puzzle caches to make my Tally 150+ for the trip as well as the related cache Plane Challenging - 1680. After completing the requirements of Mysteries in the Horse series, I decided a few Challenge caches were in order. After finding the 1680 Challenge, I still had heaps of time to find a handful more solved puzzles, starting with this one. It was getting a bit wet by now and the wind was firing up and quite cold. I persisted to GZ where naturally nobody was about leaving me an empty GZ to make the find.

Thanks to 8ManAfter for the cache. TNLN

Today we were doing some random caches and a few that we had solved prior to our trip.
Thoroughly enjoyed doing the Sujiken-terbury puzzles so it was great to find them and get our autographs in the book.
Thanks for the fun 8ManAfter

We were in the land of geocaching heaven, cruising around nabbing some caches while having a ball.

Out for some Mega caching with Kyzabra and Jinta29 today. Beautiful country cached today..Thank you 8ManAfter for placing and maintaining this cache. Smile

26-Oct-15
Have had a great time solving these puzzles. Had to work them out the old fashioned way. Smile
Scouting around to get the ones needed to solve the final hopefully tonight over a few drinks.
Jinta29 and I decided to head out this morning to grab and grab as many D/T combinations as possible. The Green Geckos decided to join us so off we went.

8ManAfter - Kyzabra found your cache Sujiken-terbury 5: Gimme a Break!! (Canterbury) on 26/10/2015, 4:59 PM. This is my find #4215 and find #40 today. The cache is in good shape and we replaced it as found. Thanks for placing this and bringing us to this spot!

26-Oct-15
Kyzabra and I headed over for the Christchurch Mega from Perth, WA. We teamed up with The Green Geckos for the DT series and a few others today.

A lot of planning was involved with literally hundreds of puzzles solved and we targeted some highly favorited caches as well as those that filled gaps in grids and calenders!

We had a fantastic time caching in the cooler climate and with no fear of snakes or other nasties! Christchurch is my old home town but I did not know about caching when I lived there so it was fun exploring the City with a different objective.

We were glad to grab the smiley on this one and we replaced the container as found. Thanks 8ManAfter for placing this and bringing us to this spot!

This is my find #4313 and find #39 today.

23-Oct-15
So far I've found these relatively easy. I hear the same can't be said for number 6. Looking forward to trying it tftc

#3690

21-Oct-15
[green] A late start today - I had to pick up my car (all four cylinders working now, yay!) and catch up with a fellow cacher at Uni, so my second find was not till about 10:30. Despite that I still met my objective - 40 caches in one day, and all by bike! The highlight was the Back to the Future event and having a go on a hoverboard! (sort of)
Actually, it is the Sujiken caches I am targeting today. Two more today, the last tomorrow then the final... umm... probably after the mega. Nice easy find here too. Smile

07-Oct-15
Found it. Good thing we could check the co-ords first or we would have been wondering if we were in the right spot! Good hint to enable the find more easily. TFTC and puzzle

30-Sep-15
"ca" solved this mystery @ home in switzerland and "vo" found the cache here in christchurch. Thats what we call Teamwork in Switzerland! TFTC and the mystery

03-Jun-15
Quick find. Nice walk. Tftc

27-May-15
In Christchurch for work stuff but with spare time today to go and find a few caches. Nice to find another one of these. Not sure if I'll ever get round to finding them all or the final but I've tried to collect the clues for the ones I found today. GPS initially had me overshooting GZ but when I backtracked it wasn't too hard to spot the cache. TFTC, Biggles.

26-Apr-15
I solved this puzzle some time ago, easy find today while in this area, thanks to the hint.
Thanks for a great puzzle.

31-Mar-15
Added a hint on the hide. Hope this helps!!

Last summer the idea was born to visit [Green]'New Zealand'[/Green], together with [url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url] Razz
After some important decisions regarding the beginning of our trip, the flights, the general route and the car were made, the most important question was still unanswered: which caches can we visit during our tour [?]
To get an answer for this topic I was fetching almost every cache from both islands Red Face[8)][:X]
[url=http://coord.info/PR3NXJG][red]'MimiNemo'[/red][/url] and I love [Teal]'Geo-Arts'[/Teal]...so we added all these cache series to our wish list Cool
After this decision was made this list was more than 300 puzzle caches long...unsolved puzzle caches Surprised
Two weeks before Christmas it was getting time to start solving all these mystery caches Wink
Even with the different language I could find almost every solution Cool
In the case I was not so successful I was contacting some of the CO's...and was always getting help from them...many thanks for this support [:X]

During the following weeks our cache list was growing and growing...meanwhile more than 1000 caches long...too long for a simple bookmark list from GC Sad
Time to get our route and caches in sync...time to save the PQ's to our Garmins...time to start this holiday:

Chapter 2: [red]Christchurch[/red] to [green]Ashburton[/green]
After a painful car driving at the first day our mission of the day was really simple: on our way to [green]Ashburton[/green] find some caches...especially mystery caches Wink

This cache was one them Cool
At our first day in NZ we were running out of time and so we could not search for the last cache in this great series Red Face
Early in this morning we arrived at GZ...and we could not find the cache Surprised[:o)][B)]
We were looking in every place...nothing [|)]
Only with our flashlight we finally located the stash...and with some sticks we could get the box Big Grin
Running out of time I was not able to solve the bonus Sad

I would like to thank all owners of the caches I've found for their effort and for showing me these interesting spots,

Together with [url=http://coord.info/PR3BC8B][red]'Dev46'[/navy][/url][/red] I was on a 'sightseeing-tour' through lovely [Green]'New Zealand'[/Green] Wink
During our great time we could see a lot of beautiful places and we also could find 'some' caches in the area...this was one them [:X]

Many thanks to all CO's for all these nice caches CoolBig Grin

Thanks to the gracious help of La Vista (yet again!), the container is back! And it is located in a new place, but the coords are basically the same. Seek, and ye shall find!

19-Aug-14
Cache is in good shape!

14-Aug-14
Seems to have floated away (again). I'm working on a replacement...

06-Jul-14
Bugger! Gone again by the looks of things Sad. After all the rain a couple of weeks ago, it looks like the cache has done another runner. We've been in touch with the owner to log the cache with a photo of GZ.

31-May-14
Thanks to L4TB, this one is open for finding!

31-May-14
Thanks to the good work of L4TB, the cache is good to go again! Nice to have friends.

31-May-14
The cache has been replaced and is good to go!

26-Apr-14
It looks like this one may have gone bye bye! It may still be accessible, possibly if you are willing to get wet, and I know there are some for whom this is not a problem (rediguana Razz)

For those who really want to move on, please email me a picture of yourself at GZ, with the obvious item in view, and I'll send the clue for the final. Sorry about this! Happy Caching!

See my comment in my log. Unfortunately I think a replacement might need to be placed there as this is unable to be retrieved. However, I may be being overly pessimistic?

23-Apr-14
Solved ages ago, just took a while to get around to picking it up. Navigated my way there today. Unfortunately, it was unable to be retrieved as it has been placed or has floated into a place where it is floating, you can see the container, touch it, push it, but cannot either float it towards you enough nor manipulate your hand enough to get it over the wooden supports in order to retrieve it. So very disappointed that I am unable to collect the clue in it to help solve number 6, but I did log this as a find and here is a picture you may be able to see of it sitting there in the water. I suggest it will need to be looked into by the CO. TFTC - aargh!!

We have had this series solved for awhile and have needed a day to attempt to find them. Today was that day. Once we drove around and finally found a place to park, we had a peaceful walk out to a wet GZ. There were many woolly animals watching us on our trip through the soaked paddocks but muggles were scarce. After a quick search (which came up empty) we finally located the cache. On to the rest of them and hopefully we will be able to finish the series.

30-Mar-14
Ya!!!!! Finally found it today, now onto #6!!

28-Mar-14
Arrived in New Zealand two weeks ago and have been working my way south starting in Auckland. Being caching buddies with 8ManAfter in the States, I decided that I would have to go find all of his active puzzle caches. I worked on the first five Sujiken-terbury and A Matter of Perspective puzzles in advance.

When I arrived in ChristChurch, I rented a bicycle and headed off to grab them (next time, please put them closer together). Found the first four pretty easily and then stumbled my way getting to the fifth. Back to the hotel to solve #6 and finish my work on A Matter of Perspective. Back on my bicycle to find the sixth and look for Perspective. A great time caching in ChristChurch and thanks to 8ManAfter for putting these great caches out.

26-Mar-14
Found it and moved the cache closer to the coordinates. If the water level was to rise any further the cache may be beyond reach. Great series now we have the final clue heading off to #6

22-Mar-14
I solved this about 9 months ago and finally found myself nearby with time to search. Got to GZ and then had to read recent logs looking for clue. It was then that I noticed the last DNF. Tried a bit more and was about to walk away when I spotted the cache down in the water. Thankfully the log is dry but I found a nearby spot to sit for 10 minutes while the bag and cache dried out in the sunshine. I have replaced where I think the cache should have been. Now to try find the rest of the info to solve number 6.
Thanks for a great puzzle.

Enjoyed doing the puzzle, got the brain ticking and a great feeling when solved Smile geochecker said yes!! So go to find it with bubs and no luck. Searched everywhere, got strange looks, then decided had better leave as the weather was turning and washing was out. Quite frustrating as everyone says easy find and I really want to solve the last one.

We logged this together with Geparderna on our 3 weeks geocaching and sightseeing tour around New Zealand. We solved some of these on the flight here and some others on Place here in Nz.

We tried to log this one the day before but we got into traffic jams because of a major event in the area. On this second attempt still with an event ongoing we found a better direction to approach the are where we could park the car and walk in the opposite direction compared to those who where on their way to attend the event.

Greetings from Sweden

Together with Busther we are on a 3 week visit in New Zeeland where we have attended the Auckland MEGA and now are doing some turisting and some geocaching while we are traveling from Auckland to Christchurch.

One our last day in New Zeeland we took the opportunity log log the remaining Sujiken-gerbury caches that was solved. After have done the logging and collected the hints for the final we stayed at some out door table to have our pick-nick lunch. Then we started to solve the final sujiken-gerbury. And finally we manged to get it correct and one hour before we took team Busther to the airport we logged the final.

Thanks for the cache and greetings from Sweden. We give a fp to final for the whole serie.
