Day 1 of our three day Geocaching trip to Whangarei. This stage included the drive from Auckland Airport to Whangarei and caching the last 30 or so km's before getting there as well as some caching to the west in the late afternoon early evening. We signed the log as BIC for BFG, Infoferret and CrystalFairy.
Yet another cache with minimal parking. Searched everywhere but no cache to be found.

unfortunately I did not find this one, i wasn't hoping too much that I would after seeing that the last person did not find it either
North Island Campervan trip Day 8
After the fantastic holiday I had a few months ago traveling around the South Island, making the most of one of those incredibly cheap campervan deals available at the time, I figured it was worth taking a week off work before the stresses of the usual holiday period to enjoy some of the delights to be found around the top of the North Island.
This would be a great chance for me to seek out some targeted caches such as the TMGT ones as well as some that would help me with my Jasmer grid, missing minutes (for a couple of challenge caches I'm working on) and any other caches that caught my eye.
Last night I was able to spend the night catching up with friends in Kaiwaka before setting off this morning to head up towards Russell in the Bay of Islands. I haven't been there in over 30 years, and was really looking forward to being there again. In the end I didn't quite get that far today, ending up spending a great night near a beach in Whale Bay.
The first part of my day way to be a casual drive up to Whangarei, making a point of stopping at as many caches along the way as I could, including this one.
I was able to park up and walk over to this one without any fuss. The cache itself only took me a moment to locate and finding no issues with the cache or the log I quickly added my name to the sheet and then was back on my way again.
Thanks for setting this cache up.

I stopped here as I was driving back to Whangarei after doing the MCC series. The quarry was closed, so I had a natural parking spot to get this cache. TFTC.
Heading north to Whangārei for the Christmas period. I left Feilding at the crack of dawn as I didn’t know what sort of traffic situation I would be in for in Auckland. Because of potential holdups in Auckland traffic, and the already long driving day, I didn’t want to do any caching on the way up as that may extend my journey and mean that I hit Auckland just as everyone else was getting on the road.
Turns out that I had a great run all the way through Auckland and the bottleneck at Warkworth, so after filling up in Wellsford, I decided that I could risk a few stops for some park n grab caches. A quick find here today and back on the road. TFTC time to head to the parents place now.

Added a new log for future cachers!

22489 Traveling through New Zealand to see nice people and places. Also to find some geocaches.
Today we went from Paihia back to Auckland. But first we visited the treaty ground museum. Around there were the first 2 caches of today. Along the road we had again the popular GB1 trail caches, but now on the other side of the road but also many other stops were made on the sunny day.
Finaly 1 cache near the hotel was found.
Most caches were a fast find, some took more time. Stamping on waterproof paper stays difficult.
Riser5 TFTC and the fun it brought us. Theo

We left Auckland quite late in the day after my conference was finished. However, having the door code for our accommodation in Whangarei gave us all the time in the world to find a few on the way up! The weather was abysmal, but tunfisk had a new piece of tramping equipment he was keen to test in exactly these conditions, so he was more than happy to do the jumping out of the car We had a great time and the time passed much quicker than expected. TFTC!!
We came to Otaika Park to help out at a dog event today and this year I was determined not to leave without coming to find this cache. Found where expected. Not entirely sure how much caching we will do this month so good to get at least one (now...heading down the road for the Twin Sails). Thanks for another in the series Riser5 + MiniMaxy - althout we've not been collecting them in the way intended I'm sure (i.e. one here and there rather than in one run).
Another barrier cache done (not the important one though!!!!). All good here except for trying to cross the road!aThanks Riser5.
Find number 3928. I was travelling to Paihia for the Country Music Festival and caching along the way. A total of 20 before I got to my accommodation. To avoid the Auckland traffic I left home at 3.30 am so didn't start caching until a torch was not required. This series fitted perfectly with my route. I was able to park n grab my way to Paihia. Thank you for the placement.
A nice stroll from the park. Quick pandg. Heading south but no biggy doing a u e.Tftc
#9555. Heading north through Raumanga in Whangarei and stopped for a quick break. Apart from the passing traffic, GZ was all quiet when we visited. Quick find. The cache was in good condition, all nice and dry inside. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log.

LOTS OF WEEDS AT GZ!!!
Cache soon found by DD on our way to Whangarei for the dry - great way to make the drive more interesting! Apologies for cut and paste logs, but the caches are much appreciated by us. Many thanks

I was heading north to the Bay of Islands and thus cached on the north caches in this series pulling over whenever I could for consistent and reliable caches.
Thanks for putting these out Riser5

Had to work late tonight, so headed out afterward to pick up the requisite one or two caches for the day. Chose a couple close to work and thought that this one would be a quick and easy find. And I was right....

Yip ! Another Barrier One Bites the dust ....Thanks for all the safe parking spots !!!!
Took a quick detour after work to grab- working on making my 500th find in Hawaii
This was our last find today in this series! traffic is a lot heavier now, and soon it will be dark. Thanks for the hide
I headed up North for the long weekend and today took the opportunity to find a few caches while doing a few tasks in town. Parked at the nearby sports field and walked to this, making a quick find at GZ. TFTC!

Found with Mrs McMike2012 ... we were doing a 'road trip' to Whangarei as we had a couple of messages to do ... thought we'd do a couple of caches on the way up & a couple on the way back home as well ... this being the 7th of 15 for the day ... quick & easy find ... another one in Riser5's 'GB series' ... we'll get them all eventually/maybe ... TN:LN:SL ... TFTC ... #1,118 for us

#520 This series is usually a quick find. This one was no different. TFT(roadside)C.
Todays plan was for a further attempt to increase my unique Minutes for the 400 Minute Challenge in Manawatu. I only needed an extra dozen or so to tip me o=ver the magic mark and, with a plan to head further North than before (whilst a cacher), there was a good chance of success. Built the plan aroubnd the barrier caches spread evenly along the upper S H 1 and also another couple of Letterbox hybrids and an Earth cache at Hikurangi. The hope to also fit in Waipu Cove and Mangawhai Head was a step to far. Settled for 53 caches all up, 23 new minutes so mission accomplished and I can now claim another D/T for my grid. Many thanks to all the C Os whose caches I found today. Got to see some cool sights of lower Northland and help my little missions along. Got all the North ones on the way up and the South ones on the way back down. Yay

Quick park and grab on the way north. Dropped off a strip of waterproof paper for a new log as the current one is full. TFTC
log full. managed to fit my log into a bare corner. a tricky spot to find a quiet moment. could see cache but couldn't see a gap in the traffic. duckedineventually. good hide
Got it! Easy one. The log is full but managed to find a spot and squeeze my name in. TFTC
thanks to all the owners of the geocaches that we found today between Mangawhai Heads and Hikurangi ... we enjoyed all the beautiful places! TFTC and greetings from Belgium.
Definitely found this one. We used to drive past here all the time and didn't even know there was an Otaika Sports ground. I'm not sure a woman and 2 kids searching around a barrier on a busy road is very subtle lol. TFTC
Today we headed from Mangawhai Heads to Whangarei finding caches along the way.
We had a motor home so pulled over in conveniant locations.
Thanks for placing this cache Riser5
Day 4 of a trip up north.
Good weather and plenty of nice caches to find.
Found this cache quickly.

The following cache was attempted as part of KiwiFruitsNZ trip back to Auckland - involving attempting Riser5's GB1 series - after a well deserved long weekend away. A road trip that we managed to stretch to 9 hours instead of the regulation 3 hours - due to caching (planned) and holiday traffic (not planned!)
Another cache in the Riser5 series secured!

Found as part of my Post Mega northen road trip. Really enjoyed a part of the country I hadn't seen before. Thanks to all those who have placed cacahes to encourage us southerners to come your way!
5551. Driving from Manukau to Whangarei caching on the way on a wet and windy day. This was find number 13 on a very busy road. A quick and easy find. Logbook is totally FULL. Thanks for the cache. Now off to McCafe for a coffee and some logging. Rodney and Iris.
On a first time mission to the winterless North. And the mission continues.
This has to be the last one for the day or we will never get there. Getting into Whangarei and RUSH HOUR.
Leave the rest for tomorrow.
Thanks Riser5 for the series. We will complete it, hopefully, on the way home on Monday.

#432 At this point in my journey North my battery was on its last legs so I decided to do just a couple more so nabbed this one on my way to Twin Sails. Slowly chipping away at this series! Enjoying slowing down and taking in the scenery on my trips between Kerikeri and Auckland so these caches are a perfect excuse. TFTC!
#918, Quick find on way back from a very windy camping trip, tent held out well. TFTC
Oh My Goodness; I have been to this GD1 at least 4 times looking for the cache. I have even walked the length . . TWICE checking crevices for a micro cache but unsuccessful. I had a good idea what the container was and that it was a M and most likely not the original colour. Half a dozen Geocachers must have seen me over the months and laughed to themselves. The placement is so simple and obvious now and I was trying too hard - BUT SUCCESS AT LAST and I can get onto more geos now that I have ticked that one OFF! Big Thanks for the series.
