Took a quick break on the way to Tom Thumb and figured I log a find while I'm at it. Nice hide, TFTC
I had a great walk out to this cache. The scenery is very pleasant and I really enjoyed walking along the stream. I took the time to take some of the side paths to get to the stream to enjoy it while I was headed to the final. TFTC! #969
After getting all of the necessary info we entered the coordinates for the final. Got to the closest point on the track and we were still 20 m away well off track. Went back to the waypoint to re-evaluate and check our co-ords were correct and decided we had the right numbers. So back to the GZ but still 20 m off. Decided that the hint was a better proposition and knew that what we saw close by had to be the likely spot. Found.
Seems there is another cache (that is not a geocaching.com cache) very close to where this one resides. Updated the hint so there shouldn't be any confusion between the two, but all good to go otherwise.
Last time around I found a container with just some coords close by. The owner joined KiwiLeon and me today to perform some geocaching maintenance as well showing me the proper final (call me an embarrassed overachiever).
Curiosity made us load the coords found but no luck in finding container #3.
Great multi with lots of good history about the area. TFTC

Out this morning with Alpenmilch80 and Evilno9 for a walk and a maintenance run.
Quickly figured out the coords for the next stage.
No problems finding the final.

I've been advised of some light tomfoolery going on with this one so I'm disabling it until I can get out there and tidy it up.
Today Mallorcatommy and I did a huge walk... all in all 23 kilometres in a wonderful forrest... started at the whatipu campground.. This cache was number eleven... We solved the puzzle quickly and found the box . Thank you!
Every day we are traveling around is same but also different. Today we had again the pleasure to visit some very beautiful spots and were also able to find nearly placed geocaches. I thank every single owner for placing it and giving us with doing this an other good reason to come here.
My 2nd attempt after rechecking one of my answers and finding I didnt have one of the numbers in the coordinates correct sending me about 20m away from the correct GZ. Found it easy when I used a bit of intuition as well.
A nice find while out on an evening stroll with extended family. Thanks very much for the cache.
I had the day off work today and as it was a stunning day, I decided to head out West to do a few walks and pick up a few caches. Last time I came past this multi, it was a later than expected departure from a days hiking in the Waitakere's, under headlamp, so this cache was ignored! Today I had plenty of light and soon worked out the location of the cache - I'm not sure if I made some mathematical balls up, but my GPS wanted me to go another 25m off the track! However, it was pretty obvious what the hint applied to and I made a quick find of the cache there! Thanks for the nice multi!
Got the coordinates OK then searched at the site for about 5 min with no luck. Will try again another time
Found originally as part of Rebel98 team, now created own account, re-logging as rustynz
The memory of locking the keys in car are flooding back! see log below. Have walked this track a couple of times over the years, but these signs are new for me, so thanks again for bringing us here.

Have not been out here for a while, spent alot of time out here in my youth around the abseiling wall but did not know this history, will have to come back out and do the complete history trail. Had to do a bit of a rush, my geocaching buddy choose this place of all places to lock keys in car. Enough time to walk out and enjoy a history lesson before the AA arrived. Cache very wet log book unusable not even salvageable. Dried out container as best we could, replaced log book with temporary note paper and replaced plastic bag, might need some owner maintenance. Great clue tftc.
Luckily I have AA, as the keys were locked safely in the car. Because of the location we had a few problems finding a phone that worked! The response from the call centre was that it would take 107 minutes for someone to get to us, I guess were not in Auckland anymore! So the decision was made to look for this cache while we wait. After cleaning our shoes for the Kauri dieback, we made our way to GZ after finding the required information. Thankfully you did not need to bush bash to find the cache. Thanks for the adventure and the hide.
While out for a walk, took few minutes to look for this cache. Found it ok. Nice place for a short walk, will be back for a longer walk soon.
I'm not one to turn down the opportunity to do a multi so I made my way to the notice board. No problem collecting the required information and then off to the final. Quickly spotted the likely GZ and spotted the cache exposed in the open. I think it may have fallen out of position so returned it from whence I thought it came. Cheers for the multi cache and the history lesson!
Found on the way back down the valley. All good although the paper is slightly damp.
Had decided to walk to the forks and then cache on the way down, but having gone a we way remembered about this multi. Had a quick look at the notes and thought 'oh well' I'd look on the way down and if final not too far back (and I had time and energy) I'd walk back up to it (didn't think to look at where it was on map).
Had walked about another 50m when I came across the notice board, had read enough of the cache description to recognise one of the pictures. Fantastic, no having to retrace my steps later.
Cache quickly found, dried it out a bit and cleaned out the catches so shuts properly. Log slightly damp but should be Ok. TFTC

Out for a hike with geocachestar, intending to do several caches around the area. Though my phone's GPS found no coverage, we were able to find the cache, with the rough direction from the decoded coordinates and with the hint. Was an easy and fun cache alongside beautiful scenery, TFTC
Easy find and first of the year for us (not for the want of trying) - glad out caching skills haven't deserted us!
We were staying with our family in Laingholm, and I just came back from a wee cache mission and when I arrived back to base I was greeted with a mission. We're heading off to Karamatura for a swim at a secluded hole. Let's go! I left my phone at home and didn't load any caches on the GPSr. Oh well, we'll be back. Mrs. TheWanglers said "I bet you'll find one", we had a laugh and carried on. After about a 10 minute walk. I was walking pass a spot that looked like a likely cache spot and had a cache in my hand. We signed the log and took note of the cache name. We all had a laugh and I proceeded to tell our rellies the ins and outs of caching. This is now the third final I have found, but this was even better since it was done sans technology. Thanks for the cache, it was a lovely spot. We ended up going for a quick swim even though it was raining and cold, we walked all that way. It was freezing!!! But ended up being a holiday highlight.

Found together with mike-miss on a sunny saturday waitaks blow-out. Interesting what they've done with the log trolley. Nice to see the multi layed out to accomodate the people making the effort to walk UP the Karamatura track, and provide a bit extra challenge for the people who take the easy way down Dropped off Snail slug.

Out for a day caching in the Waitakeres with Greenblat. A nice, quick and easy multi on our way up the Karamatura track. Interesting history lesson while working out the answers. Grabbed Geocoin for moving along. TFTC!
Back tracked from the information to be able to collect this one. One of the last to pick up while out and about with Tufty for a most enjoyable day. TFTC
Out with Mr Team Welsh reading up on a great bit of local area history. The trouble with this cache was that we had approached it from the wrong direction and had to backtrack to the final.
Cheers for the cache.

My final coords were well out, but sense made us stop in exactly the right spot and the clue soon confirmed our suspicions.

Updated the description to give a better set of final coordinates. Have averaged the coordinates but if they're still out any future finders are more than welcome to email me their coordinates and I'll keep averaging them out. Cheers!
GPS indicated about 22 m off the track, found it after having a think about the clue. TFTC
Agree with AGS that the final appears to be about 20m out, but the good clue soon put me right . A popular place today. T4TC - M@
Didn't read the description very well and spent some time bashing around in a hole infested, densely scrubby and generally nasty little gully. Don't leave the track; you don't need to.
The cache is about 25 metres south east of the coordinates, but the clue really helps.
This valley was milled over twice. First by the truly pioneering Gibbons family in the 1850's and then again by Kauri Timber Company about 1900's. I am not sure who built the tramline (see the info sign), but it would have to have the Gibbons, since they had the manpower, capital and engineering prowess.
Thanks for the cache!

We solved the puzzle without any hassles and after a little searching around discovered the cache, one of six we found today. TFTC
Second find of the day, although I have to admit I knew where this one was hidden, so stepped back and let snakelion do all the hard work to find this one. The co-ordinates appeared to be out a bit, but the clue gives a good hint, and its fairly obvious as to where it would be! TFTC
Back on the track, going pass the river was awesome. Once the quick calculation was made, we followed the GPSr to the "description". Due to the big trees around, coordinates were little off but the description was of great help.
Made the find as per the hint. Nice little area this one for little break.
