No luck today. We searched around in the undergrowth where we thought we could see a track... But it hasn't been found since May 2021, so quite a bit of growth. Used photo hint from previous cachet, but still no luck. Will try again soon.
Tricky find, gotta get onto the bushes. It's not in the pine tree. Great cache .
We were on a trip on the bikes to Kilkunda and back on the bikes. A quick stop and find for this one. Thanks

This one took me ages...was looking at the wrong tree at the start for like 15 minutes, restarted my App and was looking at another wrong tree for like 5 minutes till I decided to give up...I was just standing there and staring at every tree before I gave it a last chance and was finally successful....
Great lil find. Bit tricker than the others and even saw an elusive echidna! Critters indeed!
Gone fishen is going easy on us at the moment. Trampled grass made it easier though
I suggested to AnnoyingTarbit that we did a spot of caching over Christmas and we ended up heading to Wonthaggi to work along a section of the rail trail (and look for a few caches in between). We had more finds than not, though there were more DNFs than we expected. I'm attributing it to the hot weather and a reluctance to spend lots of time looking...
This one was a bugger to find. We were determined to not add to our DNFs for the day, and we just kept circling around. Somehow I managed to miss this one (literally in front of my face) and it was AT's perseverance that paid off here. Interesting container. TFTC

Find #4888
After months of planning a caching day Lost_and_Found_79 and I locked in on the day after Boxing Day to head out. The main target was a section of the Bass Rail Trail between Kilcunda and Wonthaggi and though it was as a scorcher it actually turned out to be a little cooler nearer to the coast. We spent quite a while here and I thought we were set to add to our fine collection of DNFs for the day. Finally I approached a familiar area from a different angle and there it was. My 26th of 35 finds on a great day of caching in the area. Took nothing, left nothing, signed log and visited some trackables. Thanks for the cache Gonefishen07.

Day three of my Victorian Caching Adventure. Time to get put the bicycle I’d hired to work and explore the Bass Rail Trail. I left the bike at my motel and drove out to Anderson parked there and caught a bus back to Wonthaggi so I only had to cycle the one way. A great ride I’d recommend to anyone. The caching along the way was a bonus really. I had a reasonable good hit rate and found most of the ones I looked for. Cheers and TFTC
It gave me bit of a fright when I found it unexpectedly a bit closer than I thought it would be. Great cache. TFTC
This is a really lovely section of the trail with all the vegetation there are lots of bird sounds as they prepare to rest for the evening. A cute container here. Thanks Gonefishin
KAKAGA Mark 2: Kate And Kelly's Amazing Geocaching Adventure is happening again because we're free of children, chores and work! Hurrah! A trip down to the coast was organised with the New Years events and rail trail in mind and ended with a count of: one emergency department visit, one headbutted tree, one muggle asking if we were looking for drugs, endless swarms of flies, many scratches, one sunburned shoulder, one milestone 1000th cache, great meals, good company and 66 caches.
Further on our bike ride on the trail, Kato braved the grass here and made the find. Not the critter we expected but a critter nonetheless. TFTC Gonefishen07.

This weekend marked the second of the much anticipated KAKAGA trips (Kate and Kelly's Amazing Geocaching Adventures). Mummy Short Legs and I were both very excited to be given the opportunity to spend almost two full days together with nothing but a vehicle, our bikes and our GPSs for company. We were not going to let soaring temperatures or bucketloads of flies stop us, we were going to cache our way around the Inverloch/Wonthaggi area till we dropped (or until the geohusbands begged for our return at least!).
Coming prepared with bikes we hit up the rail trail on our second day of KAKAGA#2. We poked around at GZ a bit observing past geotrails but unwilling to enter snake-land unless we absolutely had to. When we had no luck I had a quick squizz at past logs and decided that I needed to get brave. In I went and came up with the goods immediately. Thanks for the critter GF07

While out in the company of the McLookers we set out to get a start on the trail with bikes ready & roaring, plenty of water and snacks packed we were off. The sun belting down made for a hot ride but with sunscreen applied and our helmets for protection we enjoyed the trail and all caches on offer. Most caches were found with only a few DNF'S as we kept the pace up ...pedal, search, sign, pedal!
Thanks Gonefishen07 for your efforts put into this rail trail series, we had a ball.

Luckily we spotted this one quickly.
In the area on bikes with The Tritonz with the aim of completing the Rail Trail. The grass was very, very long in many places. Fortunately we did not see a snake...I am not sure how as it was a very snakey kind of day. Thanks GF07, it is a brilliant picturesque trail that gave us the opportunity to see another very pretty part of Victoria.

Number 3 of 5 for tonight and booooyyyyy did this take us a loooong time!!! I think I looked at every inch of every branch a hundred times. I almost gave up a few times and read through lots of logs. The logs implied that this was easy and right in front of my face. So I persevered. Rusty kid was getting bored so I made the tough decision to go off-road again. I wasn't keen, after tempting fate and surviving at the last cache, but I had to eliminate all possibilities. Rusty kid exclaimed "Oh God...don't go in there!!" But I ignored his concerns and did the snake stomp once more.
Two seconds later I could see the cache and it was just a matter of getting to it without incident. Rusty kid followed this time. I don't think he was too keen on doing the emergency dash back to the caravan park to get help if I were bitten.
We once again heaved a sigh of relief when we were done and safely back on the trail.

Started off from next to the Pony club today to enjoy the trail for the 3rd time. I am really enjoying this trail and cache series and thought it would be good to try and finish it off before the warmer weather brings out both more muggles and snakes! This was 4 of 19 found along here today. TFTS Gonefishen07 and other that help in maintaining the caches. Fav. awarded here just because I almost gave up then realised it was practically poking me in the back! haha

this one will need a new log as it is extremely wet and falling apart. Also a new top to the container as that is missing. Thanks
Geowife was onto this one very quick as I walked straight past. The log is so very wet and full and needs replacement. Also the lid is missing as well. Back in position.
Very cute cache. We were not really sure at what height to be searching but we have all heights in our team and soon came up with the find. Thanks!
Suscoe was heading home today but luckily we had a reasonably short distance to go and so we still had a good few hours to spend in and around Wonthaggi.
The day started out cloudy with some drizzle but it was mild and as time went by some sun broke through on occasions.
We took in a number of cache sites around the town and along the Rail Trail too.
Thanks to Gonefishen07 for placing this cache here.
Suscoe was searching here for the cache when two voices appeared nearby.
Two walkers decided to play leap frog with Suscoe for a few caches, funny how walking and riding and stopping can take the same time to cover the same distance.
They thought Suscoe was probably geocaching as they new about the Rail Trail too.

The days has heated up a bit now, the flies are extreme friendly too. Cache hunt is going very well but some DNF have been collected also. There has been a lot of work gone into this trail by the COs , so a huge thank you.
Our last on the rail trail for today, had a ball (except for the inundation of flies). This one had me search high, low and side to side, had a good idea on what we were looking for but couldn't come up with the goods. As we turned to abort where we were looking geowife let out a small gasp and said "found it". The log was a little damp and unfortunately didn't have our usual cache bag with us so couldn't replace. Thanks to Gonefishen07 for an awesome day - two great events, some mysteries, rail trail, a night cache and your great company. It was really nice to but a face to the name.
Riding the rail trail from Wonthaggi to Kilcunda and came across this cache. The log needs replacing. It was damp but we were able to sign it. TFTC
