Logs
Found it. Not too bad once you find the thing that looks slightly out of place. I'm up here often doing my one a day, so I'll put a new log in a plastic baggie when I'm up here next (unless CO wants to) as the current one is falling apart. Placed the goose rock I traded from the rattling zoo cache yesterday.
Great hide, cute spot! Would be a nice spot for lunch. Chilly wind today but cache is in more sheltered spot. As other logs have noted, the log is wet but signable. TFTC
#2702. Out with lumin298 to knock off some of the Skyline trail, we could have picked a better day weather-wise. But a bit of rain & wind didnt stop us from trekking along from #1 (which I had found 3 years ago). Lumin298 carried on a bit further than me, and when we called it off due to my legs inability to trek further, shed found a few more.Tricky hide but hint spot on.Tftc agcnz
It was pretty windy at this point, so Roger and I had to be careful figuring out a route to GZ from the main trail. I spotted the "seat" first and then wondered where the cache would be close by - and it was right where I first tried. Yay!! All good here! Thanks for placing it (#2165)
Lovely peaceful spot for rabbit watching. A bit damp but still workable. Thank for the cache!
Parked on McLintock St N and made my way from there. At GZ, it took me a minute to find the correct hint combination, but I got it eventually. The log was dampish, but signing was okay. This is my 500th find and celebrated with the rabbits and the view.Cheers.Sleepy was here!
Lovely spot, lots of rabbits and a damp logbook, did my best to dry things out.
Matagouri was keen to go for a drive to pick up a challenge cache he'd recently qualified for, so we targeted the 'skyline track' for a bit of a walk (which turned out to be more of battle against the wind just to stay on the track). We sat down and waited for a couple of muggles to go past before heading to GZ and beginning the search. Found pretty quickly. Thanks for putting this here
Our first find in New Zealand! We unfortunately forgot to bring a pen, but we took a photo with the logbook as proof. Really nice hiking route! Cache location is guarded by a miniature Shelob, but as the brave hobbits that we are, we fearlessly retrieved the cache
We spent a beautiful day hiking, so close to the city, how terrific! The cache was guarded by a spider, but brave as I am I managed to retrieve it before it was totally covered up and hidden behind its webs. Close by, lots of rabbits were having hopping in the sunshine. While Telesto was writing into the logbook, I could observe them well.
Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
Longest find of the day as they were a few options based on hint but got it in the end. Fantastic views of where we had just came from, cheers for bringing us out!
My one find of the walk! Made my way there with a bit of waiting around it for other walkers. Tftc!
A bit of a hunt around, but got there in the end. A glorious still afternoon, and I appear to have the track to myself. All good in cache, tftc!
Slowly chipping away at some of the Skyline trail series. I've walked along here before I started geocaching but that was a while ago so it was nice to revisit this area. Not the quickest find for me today but I think I was still waking up! A peaceful spot. TFTC
After a chat with some nearby noisy sheep and after the trail cleared out of passing muggles I set my focus to the task. As I began my search I was startled by a rabbit who was hiding close by who decided to make a run for it as I had gotten a bit too close for its liking. A quick find here. Appreciated the natural seat close by in which to sit on while opening the cache. So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its spot all ready for the next geo-hunter. Thanks heaps for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. TFTC
I called the location of the cache "valley of the bunnies". I was surprised how many rabbit families were out grazing on the grass near the end of the day - no muggles around to scare them away. Cache was tucked away in a spot where you could admire the grazing hillsides. TFTC.
Skyline trail seems like a very appropriate name for this track. What a beautiful section of the TA!
Log book felt a bit damp. But it's a nice spot to stop and rest out of the wind.

Went out caching with Briar1807, was a great walk, thank you for these caches
Third of seven on a maintenance run from J'ville up Mt Kaukau this morning. All good here, no action needed
In Wellington again catching up with friends and family. Another day to myself - so with a new Nigel Navigator to try out - so lets go walking. Took the train to Johnsonville to walk from Johnsonville to Ngaio via Mt Kaukau. Not many people about today and a beautiful sunny day for a walk over the hills.
Im really enjoying this walk on such a wonderful day. Cache snagged and tagged. Cheers

Found on an afternoon bike ride from Johnsonville to Makara Peak. Rode past by mistake so had to backtrack but not too far off the trail and a nic spot for a rest while signing the log.
The GPS took me on a beeline straight to the cache and its hiding place was evident on arrival. It's been seriously windy on the ridge but not too bad in this sheltered spot. TFTC.
Find 4 of 16 with no DNFs on a wonderful day on the Skyline Track, in Makara Beach and Karori. We were blessed with amazing weather, blue skies and calm winds, offering world-class views on the last day of our trip.
We got out early on the Skyline Track and did a 10km loop starting around #1, finishing at #8 and then naughtily taking the TV tower track back down. All were pretty much instant finds apart from #1 and #8!

What a desolate spot! Apart from taking a shortcut this was an easier & shorter walk from end of McLintock than expected — maybe because had map zoomed out
Decided to walk part of the Skyline Trail this afternoon, starting from the Old Coach Road. Would never have done this walk except for geocaching - good excuse to get out and explore
Found the cache very quickly with my new Garmin etrex 20x
Good hide.

A nice easy find on a beautiful day. Cache was exactly where the coordinates and hint said it should be. Cache in reasonable condition - no excess water, etc.

Thanks. Quite wet inside cache and I did not have stuff with me to fix it sorry.
First of six found on the Skyline Trail today. The main purpose of the exercise was probably the exercise, to enjoy a walk with the dog on a pleasant summer’s day. Checked out what caches were around and located a few along the way, including this one. Reasonably quick find. #1099. TFTC.
Found this one when I decided to go for a walk today to pickup the other cache nearby. Thanks for the cache.
The GPS led us astray so we skipped this one on the inward-bound leg of our walk. The home stretch proved more fruitful, even though the GPS was still playing up. In the end I took a step down to survey the territory and spotted a likely hiding place. Then it was quick work. I picked up a geocoin but it hasn't been logged in to this cache yet (I think we encountered LC Builder and WaffleKitties on the track. Quite near the beginning of our walk I had seen a trio striding off into the distance and thought perhaps they were cachers, and we saw them further along the path an hour later as we were making our way back.). Tftc and the series. I don't know where I've put my little book with all the puzzle numbers, but I'm sure I'll find it soon and then be able to complete the last two caches.
Nice easy find, all in good order. Sat down for a rest while we signed the book. Dropped of a geocoin.
#881. Our final push at locating all the traditional caches on the Skyline Trail. Walked up to here from Comber Place in the late afternoon sun on a pleasant Sunday afternoon. After standing over top of the cache I checked a few other spots before discovering its resting place. Sat down to enjoy the warmth of the sun, sign the log and take in the view. South Island was crisp and clear today. TFTC
Only a few more of these caches to get. Good hint and GPS reading make it a straightforward find. Thanks
Up this way on a mild morning getting another cache so came on and found this one. TFTC
Life has got in the way of geocaching for the past few weeks so it was nice to get up in the hills this afternoon (even if it meant missing the start of the cricket!) and nab a couple of caches. This one was straightforward. TFTC
#187. Nice day and I needed some exercise. I decided to have a walk in Johnsonville and knock off a couple more Skyline caches. Nice to walk this way for a change. Tftc!
Cache # 2,304 - Taking my Friday morning hike to the Skyline today and grabbing a couple more in this series. Nice day to do this, with only a slight wind going (unlike some of the gales I have been in up here before). Had to contend with a small herd of cows near the GZ, including a number blocking the trail. Cache was a quick find, all in order. TNLNSL. TFTC!
I hadn't planned on coming up this way today, but the geokids were keen after doing the Rifle Range stretch. Some nice views along the way and I'm looking forward to completing some more legs of the Skyline. TFTC
My very first cache!! Out and about with mud-wiggle (Dad) and magpiy (scary Uncle Pete). Nice day but very windy. Nice hiding spot. TFTC!
No problem with this one; beautiful day but very windy. Found with scrabbly and magpiy. TFTC Cheers!
I was down in Wellington, visiting family for a few days and as the weather was forecast to be good for the day I decided to head out and do the Skyline Walkway - which I had been meaning to do for a while now. I left my car at the Old Coach Road end of the walkway and arranged to be dropped off at the Makara Road end. It was a lovely Spring day for a walk, with no rain and great views along the way! At the end of the walk, my GPSr said I had done about 20km, with a few caching and sightseeing detours along the way, and had found 32 caches! Soon found the cache here, TFTC!
Climbed straight up the hill from #2 so the rocks were a nice place to catch my breath, TFTC!
Found while out and about with TuisReturn.
Nearly walked past this one but found the container quickly when I realised it was off the trail.

Such a lovely day and was having such a lovely walk... I went 200m past before I realised! Nabbed this one on my way back and stopped on the step to eat my sandwich out of the wind.
Near the track just up from GZ there was a cow stood quietly next to her stillborn calf... very sad

Carried on along the trail from #4 as it was relatively flat from there and I decided to make the most of my slog [xx(] up the hill from McLintock Street. Some very nice views along the way, the new wind farm will certainly change the skyline views to the west.

GPS inaccuracy was never going to be an issue at this location. I quickly spotted a likely hiding place and when I saw the helpfully placed seat, I knew I was right.
A later than hoped for start meant I could only manage three of the five planned for today. Hopefully, it will be a nicer day when I return to carry on.

Perfect Sunday morning for a skyline walk.

The last one found during short afternoon walk. Again nice view. The perfect weather for walking. Sunny and little bit windy.

Next one on my little walk over the hill. Closely watched by a cow muggle, TFTC. Sherlock Hood.
Although I'm still missing a few in the teens, I'm going to make a call and say that this is by far my favourite of the Skyline Trail series. I love the wildness of the location, and the beauty of the rocks and farmland. Fantastic hiding spot too! Enjoyed sitting on the 'step' to sign the log. Dropped Drake TB. TFTC
Number two, getting there! A bit more of a search around here, but found what was required in the end.
Cache in order, log signed; safely re-hidden, just as found.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

5159. Did the loop from the Truscott Ave entrance to the McLintock St exit and back around the streets. The climb up was steady but warm on a sunny day. The walk around the ridge from #4 was easy.Found the cache easily. Then carried on to the exit and the streetwalking part. Thanks, Rodney.
Quickly found at GZ. Starting to get a bit tired after quite a few hours walking the hills. Also short on fluids as it had taken me a bit longer than i had thought.
Thirty-first find on a 7 hour geo-caching hike along the length of the Skyline trail.

Getting a bit of altitude now, glad to have aborted the trail last time (Even if not by choice) as the weather was crappy and windy last time, not now, complete opposite.
Awesome spot.
