I have been doing a lot of overtime lately so I decided to take today off as TOIL (Time Off In Lieu). I cam up here as I am needing two trads to complete my calendar to five trads per date, collect the three caches for the equinox souvenir challenge (those two have a nice overlap) and lastly to prefind three regulars for my regular dot days. The next one of those being in March.Found one cache on the way up, checked out two regulars, one on the way up and another at the top, then came over here for the longer way down. Nice easy find. There was a bit of rain earlier this morning, but I am glad to say there is very little slippery along the track.---### LET US HAVE A BLOCK PARTY!!! ###On May 3rd, 2025, we will be celebrating 25 years of geocaching in **Rotorua, New Zealand** with a special **Block Party** event. Nice hiding spot on this one, I did in fact feel the strain! 4th cache of the day, TFTC!
I'll admit. I've been climbing this hill twice a week for the last couple of weeks, picking off caches one at a time up here for my 100 days in a row goal...And fitness... I have passed by this spot longingly knowing it's here but never putting my hand in the right spot. Much like Viperchicken said. It works if you approach it from the right direction. And today I got there. Well.. my friend got there for me. Goal days 25/100. Quarter of the way there!
Was a bit worried with all the DNFs but found it after some fossicking, and had to try a few spots all within a metre. Most obvious spot (but not really relevant to the hint). Easy if you approach it from the correct side. Wow, what a gorgeous day. Pretty busy up here. TFTC
Parked on McLintock St N and made my way from there.Reached GZ quickly from the previous one and had to make out I was resting because a couple of muggles were coming towards me.Had a quick hi with them and started searching when they were out of view.Search didn't take long as it was where I expected it to be.Cache and log are in good condition. Cheers.Sleepy was here!
Trouve ! / Found it ! Elle tait bien cache la vicieuse mais j'ai quand mme fini par mettre la main dessus. 4239me cache trouve.Merci fozzmiester, adopted by agcnz pour la cache The vicious cache was well hidden but I still ended up getting my hands on her.4239th cache found.Thank you fozzmiester, adopted by agcnz for the cache
Quick little find, nicely sheltered from muggles who I suspect wouldn’t want to climb the steep hill! TFTC!
Yet another steep hill. It would be interesting a see a vehicle do this. Maybe not if I was coming the other way.
Quick find did have to run back uo the trail as id missd it. Tftc with isistibisi
Had to walk back as we walked along the other side of the loop. Tftc with jakesrage
You know, I could have gone to the top and then come back down this way for an easier time. But I walked up from the bottom and made a quick find instead. Tftc!
Forgot pen. Wasn’t very busy but had to wait around taking pics whilst muggles came by
Up around these trails today and so I thought I'd grab a cache or two while I was here. Once I figured out where to take the strain it was a nice quick find. So the log book has been signed and the cache is nicely back in its spot all ready for the next geo-hunter. Thanks heaps for taking the time to set up this cache. I really appreciate your efforts in doing so. TFTC
Wandering around the hills on a beautiful Wellington Sunday and collecting a few caches as I went. No trouble here, although had to wait a few minutes for the coast to be clear so I could retrieve. all safe and dry, TFTC
A nice quick find on my walk up the hill. Great views, lots of people out enjoying Mt Kaukau today but nobody nearby when retrieving the cache. TFTC
I did feel the strain as I climbed towards the cache, but not as much as I expected. TFTC
TFTC Found it where i thought it would be after looking at the clue! Loved the excuse to climb my Kau kau
Called here this morning while out for some cache maintenance. This one definitely needed some TLC, it was wet inside and there was just a plastic bag with no logsheet. I have replaced the container with a new one of a similar type, and the logstrip is now waterproof paper rolled up inside a pill bottle which will provide much better protection than what was there before. All good to go now!
Cache found but empty of log book. Wee bit wet as well. Seals may be gone in cache
After having muggle and gorse problems up the hill I came there hoping to see less people. I was right until a MTB comes blasting down the hill and decides to have a phone call at GZ... I checked out the view until he left and sat down to make the find. Cheers CO!
Found today on a walk with Bonster. Felt the clue alright, it's been a while. TFTC Cheers
Main aim was to enjoy the walk and views at Mt Kaukau - great to pick up a few finds on the way. TFTC.
Last of seven on a maintenance run from J'ville up Mt Kaukau this morning. Cache was in reasonable condition and dry inside although it looks as if it had had water in it at some stage. Replaced logbook bag, cleaned container seals, replaced as found. All good to go
Found this one after a nice hike on this track. This is a gorgeous spot! I live not far from here so I'll eventually get the rest in the series. The cache didn't have a pen or pencil and I totally forgot to bring one so I'm attaching a photo of the log and the container as proof I found it. TFTC and I look forward to getting the rest along this beautiful track.
Day 2 of my MTB trip around Wellington tracks the Hutt road this morning, then Titahi Bay coastal track and now the skyline track up to the transmission tower and a few more caches what a great day and some great weather and views, thanks for placing all these caches for me to find and places to explore.
In Wellington again catching up with friends and family. Another day to myself - so with a new Nigel Navigator to try out - so lets go walking. Took the train to Johnsonville to walk from Johnsonville to Ngaio via Mt Kaukau. Not many people about today and a beautiful sunny day for a walk over the hills.
Snagged and tagged on the way to Mt Kaukau. Cheers

Found on an afternoon bike ride from Johnsonville to Makara Peak. Very easy find today - didn't need the hint.
The log book is so wet (unfortunately didn't bring any replacement paper/book) and impossible to write on it. Manage to make photo sign in. TFTC
I had planned to get this on the way up the summit but muggles were approaching from all directions and one guy in view of what I might be doing was just standing around talking loudly on his phone. Rather than wait them out I deferred until I came back down. No muggles this time and I went pretty much straight to the cache as directed by the coords - no hint required. TFTC.
Find 8 of 16 with no DNFs on a wonderful day on the Skyline Track, in Makara Beach and Karori. We were blessed with amazing weather, blue skies and calm winds, offering world-class views on the last day of our trip.
We got out early on the Skyline Track and did a 10km loop starting around #1, finishing at #8 and then naughtily taking the TV tower track back down. All were pretty much instant finds apart from #1 and #8!
The log here is completely soaked so we added a new log and baggie until it can be sorted out.

Found it but couldn't sign log as container and log were soaked and I didn't have a spare log. Took photo instead.
cache is wet, and logbook is unable to be covered properly by the plastic bag.
Found on my jog to Mt. Kaukau. Nice place. Took me about 10 minutes because my GPS was giving me trouble.
Thanks from Prague =D

#1619 Found with wb1117 - her third ever cache! Finally she has decided that being geo-widow isn't fun and decided to apply the "If you can't beat em, join em" principle.
We had an errand to do in J'Ville and also wanted to go for a walk. We were originally planning another walk in the Keith George Memorial Park, however decided we'd break some ground we'd never been before. Several people up here this evening - many of them encouraging us and telling us we weren't far from the top. To be honest, it isn't a big walk from where we parked up to the tower - no further than the ones we find ourselves frequently doing in Upper Hutt almost daily. It was however enjoyable, and wonderful views.
Cache was water logged and logbook damp. Cache emptied and dried as best as possible. Thanks for my smilie and helping keep my streak alive.

This was a busy area today so we had to wait for a muggle fee time, but soon had the cache in hand. TFTC
