This was the rendezvous point for RogerW1nz and I - I'd walked here from Skyline #4 while he went back drown and drove the car around to Ngaio to rejoin the trail. I spent about 15 minutes searching all the hint spots I could find with no luck, and with the weather setting in and Roger texting to let me know he was struggling a little, we decided it was best to flag it and head back down. I have a few DNFs up here now, which is the perfect reason for me to return again on a better-weather day and complete the walk. So I will be back for sure!! Thank you for maintaining this series to give me a challenge to keep coming back to!!
Found as a light breeze was just starting on a beautiful day. Easy find up a grassy slope as hint says. Was able to sit down for this one. TFTC.
A windy day up on the Skyline, picking up the last few of the series. An easy find as per the hint. All good, tftc!
Don’t know how I missed this one last time up here- not as a dnf but by focusing on a multi. Both now found!
For me, the skyline trail is almost completed. Just #1 and #2 to go- but that will be another day! (And one dnf after Kaukau) Thanks heaps for placing these here- appreciate your mahi!

Oh, *that* bush... Fourth cache on my run in the hills above Ngaio toda this afternoon. Great spot, thanks!
Spent the afternoon wandering the trails up here, and searching for caches. This was one of them. No problems tracking this one down, all safe and dry here, TFTC.
Took the geohound for a walk up the hill this afternoon with the intention of finding a few caches. Seemed quite steep heading up from Huntleigh Park Way in Ngaio, or maybe I’m just getting old! A sunny day and great views, but very windy in exposed places.
This one was a straightforward find, the first of four successes, along with two DNFs! #3471. TFTC.

I called here this morning and have replaced the container with a 1L systema one which has more robust clips than the previous container type. The logbook is now a waterproof rite-in-the-rain one inside a plastic bag. All good to go again now, if finders ensure that the container seal is kept clean, then this one should last a long time.
We found the box but it's broken. We found it opened and upside down. The log book was in the bushes. It was impossible to write on it because it was wet. It needs repair. Otherwise, thanks for the cash!
straightforward find, sealed as best I could with the one remaining seal, I'll have to come back up here one day to complete the trail and maybe see some of the views (instead of mist!), TFTC
Our last stop along the skyline before dropping down to Huntleigh. As noted the container only had one snappy seal left so tried to put the cache back with this upright. Thanks for the hide.
With fine calm weather forecast today, I scheduled a maintenance visit for another six of the Skyline Trail caches. This was the third heading north after walking up the track from the Wilton Substation. I'm going to have to make another visit here to replace the container, two of the four clips securing the lid have broken off. Surprisingly the cache was pretty dry inside and the logbook was in good condition. Otherwise all good. Replaced as found.
Quick and easy find on a brilliant, calm, sunny warm November day, while with Graeme's HVTC trip.
Looks like a new box with better clip seals would be handy when it rains.

In Wellington again catching up with friends and family. A day to myself - so with a new Nigel Navigator to try out - so lets go walking. No one about today, A bit windy but fine today.
Easy find here but very windy here. Container broken and contents wet. Cheers

Back on the trail! Note container down to 2 adjacent clips. TFTC fozzmiester.
Found on an afternoon bike ride from Johnsonville to Makara Peak. Thought we would be smart and not use the clue and found something under a pile of rocks nearby that looked like a clever cache container but it wasn't ..... used the hint and had it in a few seconds.
Found it!
Nice quick find. Got very windy... but the views are worth it...
A morning expedition, leapt off from Huntleigh Park way. Not sure if its the easiest route. Out for a moderate days caching, 5th of nine.

I almost forgot to stop for this cache after being distracted by muggles. However when I remember to check the GPS I was just 7m away. So I dashed over in the indicated direction for a quick find. I managed to navigate my arm into the hide without getting scratched - a lesson I learned on another skyline cache hidden beneath the same species of plant. TFTC.
**taybee** is caching again with **taybee nz**

Collecting a couple more of the Skyline series today with tmann421. A quick find here. TFTC and the series
Can't beat windy WELLINGTON on a good day! Awesome location. Cache is a little damp
Cache # 3,285 - a brilliant morning for another walk up the hills, with a mostly full moon helping with illumination. not helping enough, though, to actually keep me on the trail, or rather the alternative trail that spurred off of Bell's Track. Followed the sign, but soon found myself essentially going cross-country across a cow paddock and essentially straight up. The cows were less than impressed with someone in their field at 6:00 am, and all ran off over the hill. The sound of them moving was quite something, and I had to look several times with the torch to ensure none of them were actually running towards me, as there was no place to hide if needed. Cache was a quick find when arriving at GZ, and log book is only slightly damp. TNLNSL. Nice to have another one done in the series - only 3 more trips to go and I can start solving the puzzle ones! TFTC.
Consecutive caching day # 1,172
Consecutive caching day # 1,172
I hiked up from the top of Chartwell Drive, expecting decent weather. The northerly is already strengthening up here so this might be a shorter excursion than planned. The cache itself is an easy find, right where I expected it to be. Everything in good order. TFTC
We decided to walk the last section of the skyline trail today. It was very windy but fortunately the rain held off. Didn't take too long to find the cache, but signing the log too a little longer due to the wind. TFTC
Came up from Silverstream Rd the steep way! Pretty windy up here. Now, do I stick to the original plan and go left to complete the circuit or head right towards Mt Kau Kau and bag some other unfound ones first? Resistance is futile, I'm turning right. Just hope the weather holds! A nice quick find. TFTC!
Found on a beautiful day, while walking the skytrack and sorry for all those copy paste logs ...

Thanks for the find. Found it with Tu2 Tracker, speedy12, dunc_nz. A great day for the skyline trail.
'Twas the afternoon before the evening, when all over the the hill
sunshine was wildly stirring, and the winds were oh so still;
coordinates were eagerly followed to loot lurking 'by
discovery celebrated with a victorious "oh my".
Disappointment for you should you think there is a full poem to be had,
I'm just gonna call this "part 12" and leave it at that.
Cache contents:
- logbook with pencil
- a piece of bandage which was very wet and thus had become unusable. I threw it out and put some new, fresh bandages in.
- a plastic figure of a baby looking in a mirror (which I dubbed "Vanity: of course it's genetic" (just give it a minute, you'll get there))
- a miniature plastic torch in the shape of a 101 Dalmatians figurine, unfortunately the batteries had run out
- collectible card Heroes/Countdown of Pinocchio
Inside of the cache was a bit wet (possibly because of those wet bandages) so dried it out. Took nothing, left a bookmark.
Thank you for the cache, hidden well out of the way but with coordinates and hit spot-on easily findable. Now if I could only figure out what those puzzle numbers are for...

Hint was spot on and led me to the cache quickly. TFTC

#116. An afternoon slog up the hill from Huntleigh park, onwards to Mt Kau Kau, picking up caches as we go. Tftc!
The coordinates and the hint matched perfectly but we couldn't find the cache. The last log is a long time ago! Maybe the owner should check this cache.
Found while walking bokhara8's loop. This was the only cache where we had to dodge muggles with mad runners coming from one direction and then the other. TFTC.
Thanks for the cache! Found on a lovely day with wafflekitties! Done a big loop walk from Mt Kau Kau and along the skyline walk and came down the hill to Ngaio!
With my previous two cache visits being time consuming affairs, I was pleased that I had no such problems here. I quickly grabbed the code, signed the log and moved on.
A good stiff wind today but a very pleasant walk. Thanks fozzmiester
Part of a loop we did up to the skyline ridge and down to crittercacheIII

Thought I might have to start climbing! Tftc. I'm working my way through the series and soon hope to have all the clues to tackle the puzzles.

#54 Another one with a great view but plenty of fresh air. Nice to get a few easy caches in after a run of Boxhill specials recently. TFTC
I was down in Wellington, visiting family for a few days and as the weather was forecast to be good for the day I decided to head out and do the Skyline Walkway - which I had been meaning to do for a while now. I left my car at the Old Coach Road end of the walkway and arranged to be dropped off at the Makara Road end. It was a lovely Spring day for a walk, with no rain and great views along the way! At the end of the walk, my GPSr said I had done about 20km, with a few caching and sightseeing detours along the way, and had found 32 caches! Another quick find along the way, TFTC!
Started off blue and sunny but with a biting wind. Took the Bell's Track up from car park and choose the left hand route which turned out to be shorter and steeper but more sheltered to get to the cache. Saw two hares and the view from GZ was fabulous. Just loving those wind turbines.
nice straight forward find today after navigating my way through a stampede. think cows may have been spooked by dog on leash that appeared with owner once cache safely tucked away. TFTC.
Just one in the series found today after earlier finding Crow's Nest. Quick find although we had to back track when I remembered I hadn't collected the puzzle number. TFTC
Coming up from Huntley park also found this one. Nice view. TFTC. Sherlock Hood.
Found it! Pretty windy up there today, but no moos which was a shame. Great exercise though!
A second day on the Skyline series after quite a break and we ascended from Awarua Street to knock of that part of the series we hadn't conquered. After lots of cow dodging we got to #12. Reasonably straightforward find. Cache in order, log signed, then safely re-hidden.
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
The Turtle strikes again!

Bunch of mooers hogging the track, they had mini-moos so I gave them a wide berth
Fifth find for the morning on a quick trip up from Chartwell. Lots of bovine spectators.
Lovely day upon the tops today, little bit of a northerly but not a bother. I was quite surprised at how popular the track is, but understandably so, I thoroughly enjoyed my walk and would quite happily return. Many thanks for the series and bringing me up here!
TFTC. Northerly out in force today. Pirate geocoin was there but I left it for someone else to find on a day it was less likely to blow away!

Came up from the Chartwell substation to knock off a few more Skyline Trail caches today. Very interesting bush/rock relationships up here. TFTC
Quick find, after meeting up with some of the few muggles i'd seen all day.
Eighteenth find on a 7 hour geo-caching hike along the length of the Skyline trail.
Dropped off "Pirate" TB.

Nicely tucked away on the skyline. Quick find and on to the next in the series.
