This one has been washed away in the Northern Rivers 2022 floods. Between park closure, floods, fire and covid this cache had been unavailable for so long now, so I’ll archive it. Incidently, the cache was hidden beside the Kyogle Road. Here a link to a video so you can see how bad the flooding was that took the box away for the last time: https://youtu.be/VcMkAvfwdL4

This is still a T5, as the NP is closed right now. The closure was extended today until 31 March 2022. See attached note.

This weekend, I headed south to NSW to Lismore and Casino on Saturday, followed by Springbrook National Park on the Gold Coast on Sunday, meeting different geocaching groups on both days.

Today, I started finding a few geocaches in Lismore before joining Beardman75 and georode in travelling to Casino. Our focus today was the *Ferg Loves Puzzles* series, and we managed to find a few others in and around the township of Casino, before departing around 15:00 hr back to Lismore. I then took the solo journey to stay the night at Robina, travelling via Goolmangar, Coffee Camp, Nimbin, Blue Knob, Mount Burrell, Uki, and Murwillumbah. A long day out and about!

I had been living in Brisbane from 2010-2014, and during that time, I was introduced to geocaching and had been an intermittent player. In those last few years, jesswrigley and I had attempted Mount Warning three times. During the first two times, we were rained out and failed the overall climb. The first time it was raining, and so we didn't even start to climb, but rather walked the nearby Lyrebird Track. The second time, it started to rain as we climbed. We were prepared for the forecasted rain, but even with rain jackets, the rain fell heavy and hard, and 1/3 way up, we weren't enjoying the climb, and so abandoned our attempt. It was then in late 2013 over Christmas, that we managed to arrive early, and make the hike up with the weather agreeing. I quite enjoyed the adventure with the chain getting up near the end of the summit climb, and we spent some time enjoying the views that were on offer. I took quite a few photographs along the way.

It was only until later, that I realised that there was actually this multi-cache as part of this hike. Luckily and thankfully, I actually took a photograph of the required emergency helicopter warning sign (there were a few that we saw during our walk up). Consequently I was able to grab most of the coordinates' numbers without realising. However, I didn't count the lightning rods on the summit. I could have completed some trial and error in examining possible hiding spots, but the checksum was handy in confirming the value for **A**. This review was done back in 2014, and so, I had these coordinates for some time within my register, ready to be found.

With the warnings of Mount Warning's summit climb to be closed forever (pun intended), I had wanted to find this cache sooner rather than later. I do need to return and complete that hike again to complete the EarthCache, but at least I could tick off this multi-cache. It was starting to get dark by the time I parked, and after searching a few plausible hiding spots, and minimal recent finds (given its current closure), I soon found the nicely sized cache container! The cache container and logbook were in good shape, and it was great to have found an ammo can. Thanks MattyRX for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Note: I will add a few summit photos to my log soon.

Some locals around Mt Warning have put together this E petition to try and save the summit walk. Please sign and pass on!

https://www.parliament.nsw.gov.au/la/Pages/ePetition-details.aspx?q=f+ctI6ql9NAeq3jf4Yd/Cw==

Reopen Mt Warning (Wollumbin) for everyone to appreciate and enjoy
To the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly, we request the government reopen the Mount Warning (Wollumbin) Summit track, allowing all Australians and our visitors, to continue appreciating this world class environment and natural attraction. In the words of Marlene Boyd, local area Ngarakwal Nganduwal elder, "How can the public experience the spiritual significance of this land if they do not climb the summit and witness creation?"

NPWS website states “There’s a nature walk for every style of bushwalker in NSW national parks. Whether you’re a social walker, more of a well-balanced traveller, a brave adventurer, or a wise explorer, you’ll enjoy the experiences available on many of our best nature walks”. Mt Warning Summit track is one such walk, catering to all walker’s needs.

The descendants of the first Australians are not the only people with a sense of spiritual connection to the land. Mt Warning was dedicated as a National Park for the benefit of all Australians to experience with respect. The summit track attracts 170,000 visitors annually.

We request the parliament installs relevant signage among other initiatives to promote reconciliation and understanding of local indigenous culture in our community, including the significance of the mountain. The track should be maintained with safety at the final summit section easily improved. The Mount Warning Summit is a beautiful, natural, healthy, experience providing a unique appreciation of our culture, environment and an opportunity to appreciate this special land we have.

We request the Mt Warning Summit Track be reopened.

After finding the cache at Mount Burringbar we headed over here to hit this one up. There have been many periods over the years since discovering geocaching where I have drifted away from the game for a while, never giving it a thought as I stumble through life. My last climbs of Wollumbin occurred during such periods, and I've always regretted not getting the info for this multi while up there. It now looks like the opportunity to do so contains somewhat of a constraint, which appears to a situation that will be on-going, indefinitely perhaps.

As a wise sasquatch once said to Big Les, "if you want to reach your goal, you've got to go through all the steps".

On this walk these are numerous. I will miss this walk.

My thanks to MattyRx for this cache, and for the opportunity to enjoy this adventure one last time.

Have been looking at this walk for ages. one of our course sites we called "Mt Warning view" and while there I was always thinking about the top and the views across the caldera. The recent nonsense with climbing mountains in Australia has put this splendid walk at riskand it seems that come May if no one raises any objections all calls out this nonsense for what it is the walk will be banned.
I had been communicating with NPWS over the pending closure and this week provided an opportunity in between storms to make it to the top.

Early start had me at the "temporary gates" 3km from the carpark at about 530am so had to add 6km to the tally. Marched up the road after parking and quickly made up the 3km gap. Prob added about an hour all up. The carpark was a mess. Leaves everywhere, tree over the info booth. Testament to NPWS poor management. Mission today was to fact check claims the posts at the summit that support the chain were no longer "safe". This is the reason that has been given for the "temporary" closure. The view being that an independent engineering report sent directly to the Minister might help keep this wonderful bushwalk open for future generations to enjoy. Hey I'm an optimist still believing that facts matter. Headed up, the sky overcast with low cloud, the humidity could cut with a knife and soon dripping wet. A few birds calling. I was impressed with the 1909 stone work on the trail but not the poor maintenance. At Heli point 4 was surprised to find the chain and posts stacked, apparently to be transported out. Made some notes about their condition. The corrosion on the posts is very superficial and would not have impacted the integrity of the system. Seems the dramatic safety warnings were unwarranted and we are dealing with pure propaganda. What on earth are they up to shutting this thing down? Chain is not even required as the rock scramble is a natural staircase. I was quickly to the summit but cloud catcher was living up to it name and the views were blocked by fog. Took some photos and located the survey marker. I had solved the "puzzle" remotely but checked the numbers again.Trip down was pretty quick. No one about in the carpark then the 3km trip back to car. Back there about 945. Was relieved to find it untouched. Tricky parking spot at GZ but find was made and log signed. All good. Will post any news arising from matters above. If we don't exercise our rights we lose them. Earns a favourite.

The claims about safety, environment and cultural issues are all contested. This is more about NPWS bureaucracy and their lack of appreciation of the actual risks.

I encourage people to write to the minister to help keep this wonderful walk open for all. His email in the link below.

Please write to the minister and voice your support.

[Closure Notice](https://www.nationalparks.nsw.gov.au/things-to-do/walking-tracks/wollumbin-mount-warning-summit-track/local-alerts)

13-Dec-20
The National Park is currently closed, and a review of weather the park will reopen to the public will be made in May 2021. The park closed due to the bushfires at the end of 2019, then re-opened briefly before closing again due to Covid-19 restrictions. Now the message from NPSW is that parts of the track (notably the chain and exposed face on the very top of the hill) are unsafe. It looks as though Mt Warning may go the way of Ayres Rock, and climbing it could well be banned in the future. Currently, there's a potential fine of $300 if found climbing the mountain. This cost should be considered if deciding to find this cache. Should the walk be closed permanently I'll archive this cache - as there no doubt that the information required to find this cache will be removed. Let's hope that this doesn't happen and the mountain stays open for exploration for years to come.

Omg, the humidity was absolutely killing me when I climbed up. The walk itself was pretty much fine, took me about 4,75 hrs including lunch break at the top and taking a few pictures. Nice idea doing the cache as multi. Back down I was worried to not find it as the last logs have been three months ago but all good.

Such an enjoyable trip!
I hiked to the mountain in the night, took me just 1h25min. When I reached the top, I realized that sun rises up 1 hour later when I thought (I came from Queensland, still sometimes confusing). That a beautiful sunrise and mystical view over there!!
When I've got in the place by found coordinates, I've already knew where the geocache is.
I left one of my travel buddies, hope he's gonna travel faster with a new fellow.

Can't go on holidays without getting at least one 4* cache right?! When we decided to head to the gold coast we planned a detour to finally climb this legend. We were a little apprehensive about how long it would take and how we would feel afterwards but we ended up getting up and back in 3 hours. All very reasonable! A good morning walk. Once at the summit we collected our answers, stopped for photos, and then picked up the cache as we headed out. No problems at gz. Great to add our name to this logbook. Tftc

On a road trip north from Sydney with muggle mates we decided to climb Mt Warning today. Knowing this multi was up for grabs, I made sure my phone would last the distance. And hopefully I would too!

About 24 years ago I did the climb, and I made it to the top once again, now in my 60s! A great achievement with my 3 middle aged muggle mates! With howling winds and smoke from nearby bushfires, the view wasn't what it was all those years ago, but impressive with the climb there nonetheless.

I gathered the info, got the checksum nod, and plugged in the coords. A quick detour on the way home, and we were at GZ. One of my muggle mates was keen to see what this "box hunting" was all about. And it was he who suggested to try "that tree"! Success! He was mighty impressed with the ammo can.

Signed the log and added "Muggle Mark P" as well. A multi that took me beyond my limits but worth it in the end. Have a FP. TFTC

Well today was a wonderful yet very tiring day. That's what you get for agreeing to do coffee with someone at sunrise... On the top of this mountain.

I was so not ready for that. So much so that I fell asleep for an hour after pulling up at this GZ. Seriously! And I couldn't move properly the next day, or many to follow for that matter. haha.

It was a beautiful location. No clouds being caught on here today, but the sunrise was hidden by clouds. Without a cloud to block our view we could see for miles and miles. It was breathtaking. Certainly worth all the pain.

And then there was the geocache - another awesome MattyRx ammo can!

Thanks so much for this cache. It was great!

BTW, there were no signs whatsoever saying you cannot walk up the mountain. It is open.

Oh, and do not leave ANYTHING of value to you in the car if you go up for sunrise. And make sure your car insurance is up to date.

This was one of our targetted caches for the weekend. After camping at a nearby camp ground when headed to Mount Warning and when arriving at the car park at 7:30am it was already full. This is despite it having rained and continuing to drizzle.

We had not come all this way to be deterred so Dora the Explorer!, Phil Serenity and I commenced our climb at 8:00am. There were a lot of other people on the track. Our climb was uneventful and we reached the summit at 9:50. There was nothing to see here as we were above the clouds and everything was covered in cloud. There were no views in any direction. We did see a diamond python though.

After having a little rest we set about gathering the information and after discovering an error in our mathematics we were able to have the numbers agree with the check sum and a set of coordinates obtained.

We did not time how long it took to get back as we spent time at the nearby Earthcache. We were back at the car though at around 12:20pm so it took us just over four hours including rests etc.

The cache at the final was found easy enough. The fitget gadget is now with me to play with when I get bored.

This cache gets a favourite point from me.

The climb to the top off this mountain is somewhat easier than its neighbours such as Mount Barney or Mount Maroon.

A great walk up Mt Warning - saw an Albert’s Lyrebird, 2 Carpet Snakes and the sun even came out on the summit to drag a few butterflies out (five-barred swordtail was a new species).
Calculated coordinates on the top and wasn’t certain if I was going past it today but when I realised I did we quickly stopped and the hint begun. Rechecked coordinates and then used the hint which made it a quick find. Log signed and returned between traffic - TFTC

On our way to the tip of Australia for an awesome 21 day holiday- on our way we thought why not spontaneously Go for a short hike up a mountain- bahaha short!!! My goodness. Thankfully my muggle friend and I are fairly fit- did the walk up and down in 3 hours- pretty good I reckon. Worked out the required info and headed to GZ- BUT not straight away- we were starving and sooo thirsty (didn't really pack for the hike) so we quickly and sharply stopped in a a place called Mavis's restaurant ( absolutely beautiful food- highly recommend)
Arrived at the location where the cache was- awesome we found it- well my muggle friend did haha! Thanks for the cache- did some swaps and grabbed something funny for a geo friend pprass (you'll laugh and I know you'll read this log)

What a fantastic cache. Love these caches that take you on a journey. I climbed Mt Warning on Saturday with The Hancock Clan, Wazza9 and Nana Nel during a fun weekend celebrating Nana Nel's birthday. We huffed and puffed our way to the top. Loved the chains. The views fro mthe top were outstanding, no fog today. We had our lunch up on top and found the required information. We were met by the resident bush turkey and a pair of bandicoots. I found the cache the next day with The Hancock Clan. Great big ammo box. Nice way to finish this multi.

This cache was a must do whilst staying in the area with friends for a few days! We climbed the mountain with tronador, Wazza9 and Nana Nel, and were blessed with clear views from the top! It's a super walk and the chains were good fun! Love these kind of multis that give you a reward after a good walk to somewhere special like this. Thanks for placing it, fav point awarded. Exchanged trackables.
Cheers,

The sign at the top of the mountain has been replaced. The original sign has the latitude and longitude round the wrong way, and the latitude value was positive, rather than negative. I've updated the photo in the cache listing to avoid any confusion when working out the clue. Happy Cloud Catching!

Left Brisbane at 1:30 on 29/4 and arrived at the base at 3:30am, a huge group arrived at the same time as us, we were surprised how busy it was. It was a long climb to the top admist lots of fog and light rain. We were quite glad to finally see the chain and know the summit would soon be reached. A muddy climb up and we were finally there. Unfortunately though so we’re the rain clouds, though the sun did try and peak out a few times. We did this earth cache on the way back down. TFTC

On our hols from the UK.
We stayed 2 nights at The Rain Forest Camp Site. We didn't get up in time for sunrise as others did at the camp, instead set off at 11AM. It was a lovely dry day, with great views.
Took note of the things required for this multi and found it on our way out of the park.

Out and about on this holidaytrip down under. Many things to see and do here and of cause there are some geochacing to be done.
Did spend some time studying the map before I left home, my list of geocaches that I Would like to find is long....so will have to chose wisely.
Guess the best ones are not on my list, longer hikes, high trees and mulitcaches are anmong my favorites, but limited time made me put others on my list

After the recent floods, the location physical cache has been washed clean with water, taking the ammo can with it. However, I've been contacted by someone who has found the box 20km downstream, in Condong, NSW - with all its contents nice and dry. I'll retrieve this box in coming weeks and take it back to its hiding spot.

My girlfriend and I had been together for over 12 years. In that time we had been on plenty of hikes around Binna Burra and O'reillys but just never made it down here. Although we had spoken about it on many occasions, we looked forward to the day we could finally make our way to the top of this iconic mountain.
Now I'm not at all superstitious but it occurred to me one day that maybe I should pull my finger out and marry this poor girl before we reached 13 years or at the very least, propose. I figured it had been long enough plus she seems ok, lol.
So with that in mind I hatched a plan. One that would have us staying at Mavis's kitchen just down the road from the mountain in one of their cabins for our anniversay. We ended up staying in an old dairy shed that had been converted to a cabin which was pretty cool. To be honest the whole property is quite beautiful and very well maintained, I highly recommend it if you're looking for somewhere to stay down here. Then on the 14th we would hike to the top where I would propose and hopefully she would say yes.
The day finally came for our hike, along with the necessities in the back pack, I hid a cheap ring. I figured it best to buy a cheap one that looked similar to the real one, just incase it got lost on the way back down. We left nice and early on the morning and made our way to the top after a few rest stops here and there. We were amazed at the amount of people that were literally jogging up to the top. Once we reached the chain section we knew we were close. After a few photos at the chains we climbed up and was rewarded with a spectacular view. It couldn't have been any better of a day. Beautiful blue sky as far as you could see. We wandered around taking in the amazing view from all angles and of course plenty of photos. I suggested we stand on one of the decks and get a photo of both of us standing together with the endless blue backdrop. Instead of putting on the timer I hit record, ran over to stand behind her, "smile". "Hang on a sec, somethings wrong". I can't remember exactly what I said now but she did say YES.

I may have forgotten to tell you but this was back on the 14th of December 2008. Thankfully I took enough photos and used some brain power to get a good set of numbers. I think I've been sitting on these coords for about 3 or 4 years now waiting for an opportunity to come down this way. My wife and I have been together for over 21 years now, married for 8 of those with 2 and a half kids in the bank.
I found and signed in today while caching the area. I grabbed a couple of TB from the stash and will certainly drop them off soon.
Thanx for turning back time for me MattyRx, love the container too.
I do hope this one survived the recent floods down there. I'm sure it would have but there has been talk of pretty high waters in parts.

#800 This was quite the milestone in more ways than one. The original date for my citizenship ceremony was supposed to be today, on Australia Day. What are the chances of that. When the letter finally arrived in the mail the date was the 22nd. Oh well, no biggie, which left the 26th open to celebrate with friends. It left me wondering what wanted to do. hmm.... My colleague and I had been chatting on and off about his 85 year old father who had just recently done the climb to the top and as this was a walk thats been on my to-do list the decision was made. With the geo milestone coming up the timing has also worked out very well. We invited Artika6 cachemeifyoucam along as he's usually my geo partner in crime and he invited a friend. So our group is set. We got there a little later than we arranged and waited for artika6 to arrive, we couldnt get in touch due to very poor reception and after waiting for about 2 hours, the day was getting on and we decided to go up without her. And so the trek began. Cam's friend set a pretty steep pace and very soon my legs were beginning to ache. After the first steep bit we all felt somewhat relieved as some passers by told us that was the steepest bit. The relief was unfounded as the steps just kept coming and coming with no end in site. After we hit the halfway mark we were finally in touch with Miss Artika6. She thought we had left without her and had started up the mountain without us. She was already on her way down. We stopped for a catch-up when we met her along the way and we were all a bit thankful for the break. We couldnt stay long and had to get going. By the time we got to the scramble my legs were dead, but the end was in sight. Some of the people heading down kept telling us we're almost there, just keep going. That really helped.I had to stop a couple of time for a rest, but we did not give up. No way. We made it all the way to the top in about 1h 45min and what a view! What a thrill! After a rest and some celebrating, we gathered the information required and got a set of co ordinates. Cam was pretty upset that the cache wasn't actually on the mountain. But after we got down and had a beer and another rest to celebrate we headed over to grab the cache. What an amazing day. TFTC!

The calculations and the final ground zero co-ordinates were spot on. It was a cloudy/foggy morning when we started the walk but 2 hours later were at the plaque making calculations with views to the horizon. After another 2 hours, we had the cache in hand.

We swapped a Shrek toy (pictured) for the Travel Sea Turtle TB.
We enjoyed the walk and it was made even better knowing we were working toward solving this multicache.

Mt Warning was my goal for the long weekend Stayed at Mt Burrell overnight and headed to the mountain on Sunday morning. Before leaving home, I did some research, and this is a unique place on earth Grabbed my gear and headed up the trail.

Here's the short version...

Those steps at the start were tough but coming down, they nearly killed me. Clocked up 6 hours which seemed reasonable given snack and water breaks and time spent at the summit. Spotted some daisies that, I think, are also native to Mt Kosciusko and photo attached. Lots of walkers and impressed by the children who toughed it out. Saw a few spills as peeps descended at pace and did the faceplant dance. Be careful Wonder if the helicopter emergency landings get much use?

The really fun bit was the rock climb with the well-anchored chain Even trickier on the way down! A hint of rain and this would have turned into a waterfall. Collected the clues for the coords and hung out up top for around 30 minutes. The caldera was easy to view from the summit. It is impressive.

Lots of smiling faces on the track which was nice Happy souls inhabit this wonderful place.

Back at Sooty the Cachemobile, I changed my shoes and plugged in the coords for GZ. A nice hide and well out of sight of muggles. Parking was a bit precarious. Huge container covered by camo. Very chuffed with this cache and the walk up Mt Warning

Dropped off **Sebastian the Travel Sea Turtle** as his owner will love this cache Plz help him to return home to Florida to bask in the sun

TFTC MattyRx! A FAVE point for sharing this spectacular and ancient landscape with me

Attempted the climb of Mt Warning with fellow Geocaching friends in June this year. Had climbed Mt Warning a couple of times when I was younger and I am sure it's got harder, or is it because I have got older. Gathered the information that was required for this multi cache, and started our way down. As I was going to a Event that night at Stokers Siding, I decided to find the cache at a later date, when I had time. The time is right when I went and found the cache on 17/9/2016. TFTC.

With another geocacher attempted the climb a little while back. Information was collected and finally had the opportunity to search for the cache today. Quick find. Thanks MattyRx.

It was a beautiful day on Wollumbin. Flowers are beginning to blossom and the whip birds were in call and response. There were a few groups including 100 school kids but the forest even swallowed them up. Arriving at the top, it was easy to gather the info and after chain belaying we headed for the final. It was close on the road but there was a perfect view of the mountain appropriately enough piercing a cloud. Thank you for the great multi. Big Grin

#7000. Geopartner and I planned this one to find for our big one.
We stayed overnight in Murwillumbah to get a good start in the morning.
Headed off on the walk about 9.15am and arrived back at the geomobile at just before dark.
It had all the geocaching attributes connected, wet, muddy, and very very windy and cold at the top, lots of younger muggle traffic who we had to keep stopping to let past as they were quicker than us. Lots of photo opportunities. A beautiful carpet python, flowers, and gorgeous views had to be admired and then there was the physical aspects of the walk. Geopartner romped it in but I with my short legs struggled with the big steps. Geopartner made it all the way to the platform but I fell short of 80m about 10 poles up on the chain section where it was cold, wet and slippery and I was not the only one as several reneged in making it to the top. We gathered all the information we needed and on the way home, found the cache and signed the log. I can always say I nearly made it to the top.
Thank you to all the friends I have made along the way, the CO's for all their great caches that got us this far and my wonderful geocaching partner who is always there for me on this journey.
TNLNSL TFTC Thanks MattyRx Cool All good with this cache

Second time for me to do Mt Warning for the sunrise, first time was better but it was was still very nice. One of my favorite experiences in Australia with breathtaking 360 degree views and if you are lucky insane cloud/fog formations. And most importantly I didn't forgot to do the cache this time!

What a great place this is.
Came out for the day with my father in an effort to tick this one off his and my bucket list.
It took us 2h 50m to get to the top but he is over 70 so a good time I reckon.
Had a late lunch, beware of the bush turkeys as they love to steal food, and a walk around the various viewing platforms collecting the numbers needed.
Back in the carpark the co-ords were calculated and off we went to GZ.
Nice to see an ammo can for a change.
Awesome cache to complete in a fabulous location so a fav point from us.

Dropped in Wendy the wombat today. She made the epic climb to the summit. Enjoyed the climb in the cold winter rain. Finally reached the top to be met by the 360 view of the cloud.
Completed this puzzle October last year so I didn't have to solve the Co-ords for this one today.
Hopefully an adventurous hiker picks her up to continue her journey. It's been nice knowing you Wendy.

We've had the weekend organised for a while now, we (bennyboppers, misssusan, jemillalucy, remsjw, mnance and muggle friend) stayed at the nearby rainforest retreat and made our way up at 8.30am. We took our time going and enjoyed the views and had morning tea at a great viewing spot. We made it to the top by midday, stayed at the top for about an hour and slowly made our way back down by 3.30pm. It was a great trip with no slips, falls or ripped clothes as some of our group is known for in hikes like these. We'd found all the information easily and did our sums. We made the final find before heading back to our home for the weekend to enjoy our afternoon cuppa and celebratory drinks. Well done to misssusan for making this find number 3000 and remsjw for 2000.
Great walk and cache. Tftc

Celebrating my 3000th cache by doing a fantastic weekend away and a gorgeous mountain walk with my caching family. All 7 of us made it to the top! Thankyou so much to Remsjw, bennyboppers, Jemillalucy, mnance101, lisylou and muggle Tash for the most amazing adventure. So many laughs and great memories! Also congrats to Remsjw for his 2000th find!

We noticed this cache 5 years ago when it was published and we should have done it 5 years ago, because the intervening years have not been that kind to us. It was a beautiful still morning to do the walk up the mountain however I knew I was going to be in trouble right from the beginning as by the time I got to the start of the track from where we had to park the car - I was stuffed [B)]
Lots and lots of muggles about and what also was interesting was to see groups of 5 to 10 young girls in their 20's heading off up the mountain as though it was a little jaunt. I started the walk at 8.25am and finally arrived at the top at 10.30 am - stayed around for 30 minutes looking at the sights, eating some chocolate and drinking a litre of water and then headed on down at 11.00am. I thought it was going to be very easy getting back down - but it took longer doing so as my legs were cramping and I was in a bit of pain. I finally got to the bottom at 1.15pm [xx(]
Well - that's it! i have done Mt Warning and I was glad I did, but won't be doing that again.
Thanks MattyRx.

With Capricorn Dancer, great walk, went up for sunrise. Picked up Travel Bug

10-Jul-16
Sea Reason, and I, Capricorn Dancer, went up the Could Catcher, and found the Geocache later. I had taken a screen shot of the info we needed, but my phone's battery went flat. So we thought that Sea Reason could photograph all the signs. No sweat. Then we realised that Sea Reason's phone could get a signal, and it soon had the details. Then, on the way back down we weren't sure how many lightning rods we'd counted. Lucky there's a checksum.
Given the confusion, and mismanagement, it's a miracle we found this puppy, but we did, and that's What counts. Left a Vote for Geoff badge grabbed the Travel Bug 60. (PCKDZH)
Really good to see a traditional ammo box. It was a bit hard to time the find with nil traffic, though.
TFTC.
PS: We saw a young couple running up the mountain; they did it in 58 minutes carpet to summit. That's fit.

I have been wanting to visit and climb Mt Warning ever since the cartoon movie "Fern Gully" came out back in 1992.
These holidays, with Geokids in tow, we made it to the top, and what an effort.
It was well worth the cold, the wind and the sore muscles and feet. The views are spectacular, & the sense of achievement even more so.
I can now tick this off my bucket list.

#714 ~

Earlier in the week MinkosDes messaged me asking if I was crazy enough to go down to Mt Warning for a day with him. Luckily enough I am so at 2.30am on the morning of the climb we left the Sunshine Coast and hit the road!

A traffic free run down over the border and we grabbed a pie for breakfast in Murwillumbah arriving at the carpark around an hour early. Just in time for a warm cup of joe before the ascent. With washing up done and full tummys we packed up and were joined by Dora the Explorer. We waited to see if there were any more crazy geocachers ready to climb the mountain and at 7.03 am we started the climb.

It was a beautiful walk us watching as the morning cloud and fog was burnt up by the sun with the last of it fading away as we watched from the top. We took the mandatory photo and got to business getting the coordinates for the final waypoint. With some numbers that looked good we started our decent. On the way back down we met a few more geocachers and stopped for a quick chat promising to exchange geo-stories around the campfire later that night.

At the final we found and signed the log, dropped in some travel bugs and said our farewells to Dora the Explorer. Thanks for a great morning MattyRx, definitely worth a fav point!

I am sure enough people comment about the epic climb up the trail to the top of Mt Warning - all I can do is to confirm. At the top, it was fun locating the various numbers needed to be confident of a find once back down the mountain. Wink

I was surprised, however, at just how far back down the mountain the cache was! [8)] It was pleasing, too, to see a regular sized cache, and we visited a couple of TB there as well.

Found at 4.15pm pm on 18tb June 2016. TFTC.

This is one of those logs where you just don't know where to start. So, I am just going to start at the beginning (grab a cuppa, it's going to be another long one!).

I have always heard of this mountain and wanted to get out and conquer it. There is something deep in my soul that always wants to climb mountains. I don't know what it is, but there is a connection to Mother Earth that I think can only be found when standing above her and looking across what she provides.

About a week and a half ago I stumbled across a pamphlet online put out by [Aussie Liahona](https://goo.gl/pa6Arj). This pamphlet was about the event 'Mt. Warning Get Together' - [https://coord.info/GC6HYV5](https://coord.info/GC6HYV5). As soon as I read the name, alarm bells went off!!! OMG, this is the excuse that I have been waiting for to get down to NSW, and up Mt. Warning!

So after putting out the feelers, there was not much of a response to adventure so far from home. One of the Geocachers that I messaged was [mtill17](https://goo.gl/OhzyuD). Knowing if he had nothing on, then he would be silly enough to join me on such an adventure. Lucky for both of us, he was free to join in the fun!!!

After what was a crash course in planning (anyone that knows me knows that I am not known for my thorough planning though more my, 'get out there and do it' style of planning) and before we both knew it, we were going to NSW.

We left the Sunshine Coast at 0230 this morning and started our 2 day adventure to NSW, Stokers Siding to be precise. Though, before we get to Stokers, we had to attack this mountain first. After a smooth and traffic free 3 hour drive, we found ourselves earlier then planned. Pefect, that meant we had time for a hearty breakfast... But, at 0550ish, there really was not to much open. But, mtill17 spotted a bakery and we ordered ourselves the breakfast of champions... CHEESE AND BACON PIES!

With pies onboard, we made our way to the carpark of this cache and quickly found as to had everyone else! So after a little tricky parking, we set-up the boiler, put on some tea and coffee and enjoyed our breakfast of champs.

There was chatter about other Geocachers from the event doing the climb around 0700. So just before then, mtill17 and I began tidying up and getting ourselves ready. Just as we were ready, who happened to walk past, the one, the only, [Dora the Explorer!](https://goo.gl/fjEAl0)! After a quick catch-up, Dora the Explorer! joined the party of adventurers. We made our way to the start of the trail and being 0655, we decided to see if any one else was to join.

It was now 0702 and we decided to begin our adventure to the top of the world. We just wandered along, chatting about geocaching, life and everything between. We stopped for a quick breather at the evacuation stations as we went along, though really did keep the pace going.

As soon as we were starting to think that this was not too bad at all, we got to the chains, this changed that opinion quite quickly. After waiting for a few others to descend, it was our turn to ascend. This was not as bad as it looked, though was still a sure way to get the heart pumping and sweat on the ol' brow.

Soon the peak was in sight and after getting there, the sights where just __________. __________ is the only way of explaining it, as there really is no words that can describe what it feels like to witness what is waiting up here. The only way I can describe it to you would be to bring you up here. From here, you can see the beauty that is, Mother Nature.

After walking around and checking out the observation platforms, we started work on finding the coordinates to locate the final. With a little observation, we had a great looking set of coords. Now with them punched into the GPSr, it's time for the adventures photo of proof (attached to log) before we start our climb down from Mother Nature.

Thanks for the cache and the adventure MattyRX. All is in great order here.

So, so proud to be able to sign the log on this cache. It was an enormous effort to get to the top. Unlike some of the younger ones below who managed it in 3 - 4 hours it took our little 'mature' group 5 minutes off 8 hours altogether. But we did it and remained unharmed, except for some sore muscles a day or two later, and returned safe and sound. Thank you MattyRx for organizing this multi cache that was the final coersion and inspiration I needed to complete the climb. What an effort!! But done! Yay!! [^][^] There's no doubt this cache deserves a favourite point for the location. Stunning views all around when we were at the top. It's amazing how far you can see! Cheers! Big Grin We visited some trackables!

This was a huge walk. Was with tilly and minkodes. We got up to the top in 1hr 40 and 1 hr 20 to get back down. The best bit was the rock climbing near the summit. Had to keep up with youngins in front of me. Nice views.

What a great day eatmorchikin had on Mt Warning. Chikinlittler 4 and Chikinlittle 6 walked every step of the way up and every step of the way down. In fact Chikinlittler recons he walked one billion and 9 steps during the day. With his little legs he may well be telling the truth. We never had a whinge, moan or "I'm tired" statement from the kids which was fantastic; they were having too much fun. We left the carpark at 7 am. It was packed so we were parked halfway down the road. In fact I made Mr EMC drop us off to save the kids legs an extra 1km or so of walking LOL. It took us 3 hrs and 20 mins to get to the top. The kids had little treats at different milestones to keep them encouraged. They got a lollypop at the top. Their favourite part was the chains. They felt like they were real jungle explorers swinging off those chains. In true Aussie style we sat up the top eating wheatbix and vegemite. Mr EMC had carried a massive pot of vegemite up with us. We sat on the platform having a lovely picnic lunch. We were up the top 1 hr all up; including our time taken to count poles and find answers to this cache. It is a pity the top gets used so much as a lavatory by dirty people who can't pick up after themselves. It was rather gross (we were told there were over 100 people up the top this morning for sunrise - they were shoulder to shoulder). Funnily enough it took us 3 hrs and 20 mins to come down (same time as going up!). Little kids don't walk too fast so all up it took us 7 hrs and 40 mins. We got back to the carpark at 2.40 pm. Kids were so excited when they reached the bottom knowing what they had accomplished. In fact they got a massive clapping from a car park full of people who acknowledged how little they were and what an excellent effort they had made in completing the walk. They each carried their own backpacks with jumper, beanie, hat, water bottle and small first aid kit in it. Caching certainly takes you to some amazing places and Mt Warning was one of those. It was such a fun activity for a family to do. Not hard at all if you take your time and walk slowly. The kids had a long paddle in the creek before we headed off to find the cache. Mr EMC went across the road and didn't find the cache. Throws GPS at me and asks me to find it. I look on the correct side of the road and naturally found the cache in no time at all! Did some swaps and tucked it neatly back in its hidey hole. Thanks MattyRx for this cache and a great incentive to get out and be active with the kids. A fav point will come your way when I earn one after also allocating one to Gone Fishin. TFTC. (I better get out there and do some caching me thinks!)
