Sorry guys - just don't have time in our lives for maintenance at the moment. Hopefully will get to placing new caches in the next few years.

With the fence still up the last few times I drove past, I had plotted a cross country approach. However, I was pleased to see that the works at the oval had been completed and the fence was gone. I followed the new fitness track to the back of the oval and then the natural path leading towards GZ. Found the hoe, wallaby bones, the remnants of a party and most importantly - the cache. Unfortunately the container was full of water, so I emptied it and left the few pieces of log paper to dry in the sun while I explored the area. When I returned, log was dry enough to write on, so I signed and replaced.

Couldn't figure out how to get there due to works at the oval. There is a fence the entire way around and although I could get to the back of the oval, looks like I would have needed to bush bash for 150m through some unpleasant lantana. Will return when the works is complete - which doesn't look too far away.

25-Jul-16
With the current construction I would NOT recommend trying to access this cache from the final of 'Work It Out' nearby, trust me Wink A bit damp, but otherwise fine and easy to reach from the right parking spot. Cheers guys, nice walk out... Not in, but that was my fault trying to get around the fences!

16-Apr-16
Found it early on a warm Saturday morning. Quick find once I was on the correct level. Couldn't sign the log as it was mushed up pulp in a plastic bag. I'm surprised that there was so much water in a container hidden like this. TFTC

Arrived to see the temporary fencing stretching for miles, sporting fields anyway due to resurfacing.
Spied the what might be wallaby remains and later the hoe before CIH.
What a tough hide for me, walked in circles, like a clown from the circus with a bit of up and down scaling the rocks.
Slipped over at one point, while descending and land on my butt.
My last find of the three in the area, thanks flatfoot&family

I parked on Koola Ave just on the south edge of the park and walked in passing the cricket nets and on to the track heading west. The bush is fairly open here and paths aren't that obvious but armed with the hint I soon found the remains of the Wallaby and a little further down had CIH.
These bush hides are always pleasant, even if those odd little drink bottles with industrial straws seem to be everywhere.
I carry an opaque 'rubbish' bag with me on most suburban bush hides so I can minimise the chance of having to explain having the bottles 'in possession' as I do a bit of CITO... I wonder what the law has to say about picking these things up for correct disposal?

All in all another good excursion to the wonders of Sydney bush land.
Thanks flatfoot&family for a bit of Sunday fun.

#2310 (1 of 2 today)

It's damp today, and so what else would I do than a few bush caches?
Was already up this way, so just went that bit further for two shortish urban bush caches.
Found both, and only one leech!

First up this cache... Well, the park certainly is a mess. The entire set of playing surfaces have been ripped up and fenced off.
Fortunately, access to the trail is still easy on the western side of the park.

Trail was followed until... hmmm, which way now. Worked out a route and followed the iPhone through the rain laden scrub. But the placement seemed obvious to me so concentrated on that and soon spotted the camo. CIH!

completed signing duties and dropped the Soaring for a Cache Geocoin.
Then took a more direct (and drier) route back to the trail.

Missing a notepad and wet piece of paper so couldn't sign. Didn't take anything but found the skeleton Smile

Bit more of a struggle than it should have been. Oval being relaid so had to negotiate around the outside. Then managed to circle the GZ a number of times before finally zeroed in. Lots of rabbits but no wallaby. Passage to the west of the oval much easier return. Lovely king parrots along this route too.

Today we were targeting caches around Roseville, Lindfield & Killara. This was our 4th find of the day.

Walked across the oval and down to GZ for a quick find. Cache container was full of water and log sheet was totally saturated, but still managed to sign it. TNLN. TFTC.

4109. Found with Relish64 and Tanso. After a trip up the Hume from Canberra to attend the event, we had some time up our sleeves to track down some local caches.
Grabbed this one after the Multi nearby. A nice little stroll to GZ and we soon spotted what we were looking for.

If anyone is heading here after doing 'work it out' nearby, I would NOT recommend bushbashing your way here. It gets super dense and now I am absolutely covered in scratches. Shouldn't have worn shorts and a t-shirt! It was kind of fun though.

About the cache - it was very exposed. I'm not sure if that was intentional, but it was out in the open. It's a really nice little patch here. I didn't see any wallabies unfortunately, but I did step in heaps of wallaby poo. TFTC!

29-Aug-14
After finding "Work it out" swung by wallaby's end. We saw the remains of a skeleton and the cache was soon in hand. Unfortunately the container was full of water and surprisingly we managed to sign the log without ripping the paper. TFTC.

After finding the multi I made my way over to this one. Certainly found a good ledge that would have been ideal for hiding a cache under but despite a fairly thorough search I couldn't find the thing today. You get that sometimes.

20-Mar-14
Parked as per the advice next to the oval and went for a stroll in the direction of GZ. The tack soon became apparent and followed the path until the numbers dwindled down to very small. A quick search of GZ with the hint and soon had CIH. Found the saturated log in its bag under the container and a piece of paper in the container acting as the log. SL and returned with the wet log & bag on top of the container.

We'd actually found the wallaby's skull on a previous bushwalk and amazingly had stood right at GZ deciding which way the track went.
Today we found a cache!
The logbook has dried out considerably but still smells awful.
Signed logbook and paper in cache.
TFTC this is an interesting area.

Relatively easy to find but needs a new log book to say the least (water damaged).

16-Jan-14
Needs maintenance. All wet, pet doesn't work

03-Jan-14
Very nice patch of bushland, but this cache needs some serious maintenance. Inside was very wet and smelly Sad Removed contents and sorted it out as best I could; wiped out the water with some tissues and sat contents out to dry for a while. Logbook is irredeemable, and the pen no longer works. I put a bit of paper I had on me into the cache as the temporary log paper, and returned the laminated cache note and the 3 trinkets (now dry) back into the cache and replaced as found. The saturated log book I put in its snaplock bag along with the defunct desiccant bags and shoved into the space beside the cache (since they can't exactly get any worse) ...that way at least whats in the container now is dry and useable. As I said before, its a worthwhile location to visit - it would be great if the cache was of a similar standard.

28-Dec-13
Cache was flooded when found. The log book was soaking and unusable. Needs replacement and better waterproofing.

Found whilst out with CJ whilst doing the 31 days of August challenge.

We've been busy finding caches for the this fun challenge. The description and coords were were excellent. It was late and dark so there were no muggles around except for the occasional thump, thump in the bush of nearby wallabies fleeing after hearing noisy people along a trial. There were many places to look, but I was able to make the find using some good caching logic. We both soon had the cache in hand. CJ and I were both really surprised to observe that so many wallabies are just that close to urban life and homes.

Anyway, it was a great night to chase the 31 one days challenge. It was a nice location and I know the area well. Thanks Burkey Turkeys for another cache. This one has been ticked off. SL TNLN TFTC

26-Aug-13
Another night cache in our attempt to keep up the 31 Days challenge. As we approached the GZ, we heard an eerie, THUD! snap THUD!....THUD!....THUD!...from various spots in the bush just ahead of us. Yi! What was that?! Aww, only some wallabies trying to get away from us, AM assured me. OK, that's alright then. Some frightened joey was probably asking his mum the same thing about us heavy footed humans in their patch. Still, it is pretty neat that such beautiful creatures live in the bush so near to suburbia. I hope we didn't scare them too much. Found the cache easily enough. We signed a damp log. Log book will need a good drying out, but cache seemed otherwise fine. Thanks, FF&F!

I had seen the reference to this cache as the centroid for the "Cache Us If You Can" TBs, so was keen to visit it when I got a chance. Today I was finally in the area for my son's soccer match at Koola Park, so after the game (they lost Sad ) we went for a little walk. I had left the Garmin at home, so we were relying on the iPhone, which made searching challenging when we got near GZ, as it refused to settle. Eventually, we spotted something that presumably was the "cool object" referenced in previous logs (if not the skull, to Geokid8's great disappointment), and from there I was able to spot a small edge of plastic. A-ha! The log is still a bit damp, but I was able to make our mark, leaving and taking nothing. Thanks for the cache!

07-Jul-13
Great cache, thanks a lot.

01-Jul-13
I started with the phone but it would not settle and had me wandering all over the place, so I got the eTrex out and it took me right to the cache. It was full of water so I drained it out and let it stand in the sun for a while. Fortunately, the log, which was protected by its plastic bag, was only slightly damp and signing it was no problem.

It’s a very nice spot for a cache, thanks flatfoot&family.

Hmmm seems as this didn't log though last night.
This was one I'd DNF'd in the past, and so having to come to the oval I decided to knock it off. Phone battery was low so made my way to GZ without navigation. Turned on the phone and looked around. Many places match the hint, the phone also wasn't updating location quickly. On my way out stumbled upon the cache. Aha! That's where it was! Container had a bit of water in which was surprising considering the type of box. Tipped it out and tried to sign. But alas it didn't work. Luckily I found some burnt wood nearby and marked my name and date on the log.

1/01/13 4:47 PM. Cache #336. Current streak: 114 days. First cache of the year (happy new year, cachers). Just wanted one for the day as it was hot, and this was close enough to home. Good to see it back online, flatfoots. Took a little while for the GPS to settle and then I spotted a cool object that I considered taking before realising the significance of it and that it is there to show the way, so I left it. TFTC ff&f.

15-Dec-12
Wow, 8 months since the last find, with quite a few DNFs included!
But after my find today, I happy to say this cache is definitely open for business.
I became a bit dismayed when I first arrived, to find an empty 'regular sized' Tupperware container out in the open, and a few of the rock cairns nearby converted into campfire rings, but I searched on. Eventually the cache guardian caught my attention and there the cache was, safely in place out of the elements and in a fabulous container.
TFTH Flatfoots.. I reckon you might have a few more visitors now!
PS. I came to rescue that little butterfly TB, but she's no longer here and should be marked as missing ;-(

18-Nov-12
Looks like you can get to the cache again. happy hunting.

10-Jul-12
OK looks like temporary disablement might be the best option here. cache should be safe in its hiding place until the construction is over.

10-Jul-12
Construction still going on and it looks like it will be going on for a while longer(putting in infrastructure to harvest rainwater I think) I did try the other path from the other end of the field but could not find a track that would take me across to cache so gave in, didn't want to bush bash my way across. I can wait.

09-Jul-12
Well, we were set on finding a fifth cache for today, but couldn't access the pathway off the park because of council construction around the toilet block. Unless you want to do some serious bush-bashing from Birdwood Avenue, you probably won't be able to access this cache for a while.

09-Jul-12
Drove past and saw the construction today. Looks like you could still get in from the other end of the field. If you do the nearby multi (Work It Out) you could walk across through the bush for this one. Please note this route will probably add about 30 minutes to your walk and might raise the terrain by a half star. Will try to get there next week to see how long construction is going to take and whether we need to temporarily disable or not.

20-May-12
Just a note to cache seekers at the moment - this area seems to be full of ticks at the moment. Please wear repellent and check carefully after visiting. Leeches seem to have quietened down though Smile

19-May-12
Checked on cache after the recent DNF's . Still there and in good order. Path has become quite overgrown.

26-Apr-12
looked high and low could not find the cache. With the cache being a large one not many places left to look!!!!

26-Apr-12
no where to be found.. is it still there?

08-Apr-12
After finding Gone Shopping we had high hopes for this one. Arrived at GZ knowing the labyrinth of paths from another cache... no I'm not telling Twisted. Had a 40 minute search that turned up nothing (not even the skull) despite trying both sets of coordinates and being 4m away on multiple occasions. We found a nice dry place but no cache was found.
Will come back here tomorrow but will try and get a hint Wink
Thanks

Trudged to the far side of a soggy deserted field. The pitch isn't quite deep enough for water polo yet. After searching up there, with no success, for a while, I switched to Alfyboy's coords and looked down there instead. Found in the wettest of places but the excellent container is keeping everything dry. Took Jack Russell TB, dropped butterfly. Thanks.

Second attempt made it for us. We saw the remainder of the wallaby, and according to our Oregon, the cache is 14 meters from the skeleton and 6 meters from the registered coordinates.

03-Mar-12
We also dropped this Geocoin...

17-Feb-12
The last remaining non-Whereigo cache within our 10km radius and a blank day in the calendar combined to find me in Koola Ave again. Kiddies playing cricket on the oval but I followed the fence to the bush - the ground has been very wet here and it looks like the mower has been bogged.

Using alfyboy's coords I followed the pointer to a likely spot, saw a plastic soldier on the ground, jumped down and spotted the skull then the cache! All in less than a minute. Looked for the TBs but the GC wasn't there. Grabbed the GeoCash card TB and left a GC I'd picked up yesterday. Signed log and replaced.
Thanks!

#969; GAFF3; Cloudy; Helpers, None; Condition, Good; Finds2Day, 2nd; STATUS, Found; GPSr @ GZ, 9m

I came here before for a cache close by, found the place again easy, parked and started walking along. Veered into the bush and couldn't find the trail so bashed along for a bit. Not thick bush though. Go to GZ and spent the next 40min going up and down, around, left and right, there and there, but just could not locate this cache. I didn't want to DNF it, so I stopped, read some logs and the hint and continued.

Still nothing! Mind you I have work pants, shirt and shoes, so it was making it all the more harder to cache. I then rechecked the logs, and something gave me hope. Armed I continued and rethunk my thinking! Checked a spot and actually found the cache before the guardian. WHEW! SL, TNLN and replaced again.

I too had my GPSr coords out,at 9m, so have included my coords, if anyone wants to check and try them. Hopefully it may get you closer. Nice Cache flatfoot$family, loved it. TFTC.

16-Jan-12
Needed a find for the day and wanted a bit of walk now the rain had cleared. We made our way down into the bush. As we got near GZ we could see there are lots of potential hiding spaces so the search was on. We then widen our search and with the GPSr pointing 8m away we spoted the signature of the hide. Opened it up to find it all dry. SL, dropped TBs and replaced. Saw some wild rabbits. All this fox baiting must be going well as we keep seeming more wild rabbits around the place.

The FTF prize was still in the cache so I suspect the FTFers may still have been suffering a little when they made teh find on New Years Day

what a great cache in a lovely area. We searched for about 20 mins, looking around the GZ but didnt come up with the goods! A last search under some ledges and one of us spotted a wallaby skull! There behind it was the cache. Great condintion and filled with goodies.

The first to find certificate was still in the cache, the wandering wilkos should come and collect their prize!

We took Edna Krabapple and moved her on to another of the caches in killara that we found today.

We parked at the end of the south part of Rosebery st, but it is possible to park on the north section, or even on Arterial Rd (north bound only) for a shorter walk. We had to scramble up the steepish side of Arterial Rd to get to GZ.

Then we had an exasperating time searching around until....why I had climbed over the cache three times! Found the skull, and the skeleton! Thanks flatfoot&family, very funny.
