Headed up the hill to knock off the caches on the Zion Hill / Buck Taylor loop and collected this on the way. Quick find using the hint. TFTC
Out for a walk from Karekare around the zion / Buck Taylor loop before the day gets too hot. Visiting a few caches along the way. Great views from the cache here. TFTC!
Vamber, Metzgan and myself decided to tackle some of the Waikateres this holiday, so we decided to start with this walk, we had heard good things about it so were looking forward to the walk.
Started up the hill and we were expecting a view with the name of this cache, but no, too many trees, but we had had sneak peaks on the way up. TFTC

A nice sunny summer's day meant for an early set off with yorkshirekiwi83 and metzgan to tackle the tracks of Karekare today. Definitely spotted some very sweet views as we made the climb up. Thanks for the hide!
After debating whether we had done this track before we finally decided we had not done this one. It was a perfect morning for it and the track was nice and dry.
Karekare beach is amazing, we really enjoyed the few walks around that we made. TFTC
A plan was hatched to come to the waitaks today to get some geocaches around Mt Zion collected and to enjoy some of the most stunning views. Quick find at GZ. TFTC
The GPS bounced about here, and sent me scrambling up the bank. Looking at the changes to the area, I suspect that a few cachers have been sent up this way as well. After walking a large search area, and repeating the hint to my muggle companion, she found the cache. Down I scrambled back to the track. The cache can be reached from the track, and the co-ords where 6m out for me. I was relieved that it had been found. Thanks for the hide
Out for a nice loop.walk around zion hill. Weather was great, beautiful clear view. Accompanying muggle didn't mind the caching for the rest and the view.. nice hide, found safe and sound. Thanks !

Out for another mission with 11HPG11, Kiwis69, Cats&Dragons, IamMrWalker, with Paultaps and FMZ. Funnily this mission was devised when we were last up here taking on multiple high terrain caches earlier in the month. All up it was a fantastic day out, about 15km's covered, a few stream swims and a swamp dealt with and a summit conquered, so the beer at the end of the day was well earned. The logs were signed F1HICK.
Last cache of the day, and the view of the beach meant we could finally see our end point. As we were a little spread out, when someone mentioned we were at GZ we were all standing next to a hint item. We all search our hint items and K69 got the honours. TFTC.

One of twenty or so finds during an amazing day out in the Waitakeres today in the company of FMZ, 11hpg11, HKCB, IamMrWalker, Cats&Dragons and our tour guide, Paultaps, on our 15-16km circuit which saw us start off at Odlin’s track, drop into the Parahara gorge, find our way down the stream into Parahara Bay for a bite of lunch before a crazy part-wade, part-swim adventure through the swamps and then wind our way back to Karekare via the lower end of Buck Taylor track, with a few brave souls in the group taking the more direct route up and over Baldy, and then up and over Mt Zion on the the Zion Hill track. We explored so many awesome spots that I would never have visited on my own, with such amazing scenery, fantastic company and a lot of laughs along the way. A day I won’t forget in a long time; not least coz my muscles won't let me! Good times
As is becoming the norm on our group caching trips, we chose an abbreviation of our caching names to save on log-book space and, if we’re honest, coz it’s also part of the fun debating which sequence of everyone’s initials to use: finally settled on 1HICK for the motley crew from the mighty Tron plus or minus an F, as and when required for our brave Auckland accomplice. This was the final cache for the day: as we got closer to GZ, some were picking up the pace for the final stretch, some of us were straggling behind. Someone read out the hint & we realised that, in our single file, we were each standing by what seemed like the correct hint item; many hands make light work as they say! For once, I struck gold and with the cache safely signed and replaced, we were off down the hill. The views were fantastic - a great end to a great day (pics uploaded), made even better by a surprise picnic courtesy of Paultaps; quite possibly the best cold drink I've ever tasted! Thanks for this hide Glyn and the added incentive for us to choose this track over the easier beach option. TFTC

This was the last cache found on another memorable 'mission' in the company of fellow Hamiltonians 11hpg11, HKCB, CatsandDragons, Kiwi69 and Aucklanders Funkymonkeyzone and Paultapps. We signed the logs (F)1HICK to save on log space and as its become a custom for us to try and come up with anachronisms for our trips together.
This trip came about after Zorgon told 11hpg11 and I about one of his most memorable/ favorite days Geocaching in this area. A suggestion here and there and before you know it C&D had organised us to replicate that trip and had expanded on it. I was new to the area and was blown away by how amazing it was. I really enjoyed the variety in the tracks, views and locations. It was a long, challenging day in which we collected in excess of 20 caches, 10 of those T4 (or higher) and it took me out of my comfort zone which also made it one of the most memorable. Experiences like these are best shared and I was lucky enough to do so with a great bunch of people.
This nice marked trail was a welcome reprieve from the hours spent off trail today. Once we got to the car park Paultaps surprised us with a chili bin full of ice cold drinks and bags of chips. What an absolute legend!

This a nice quick find for the first of the day. After a nice warm walk up the ridge, the views were quite nice. TFTC!
It has only been a couple of weeks since I was last in the area collecting a few other caches so back here once again to see what else we can find in the way of small plastic boxes in the Bush. This time we are caching as F1HICKS being made up of FMZ, Paultaps, 11HPG11, kiwis69, HKCB, iammrwalker, Cats&Dragons.
This was always going to be a long and interesting day, possibly due to the many little sidebars that we took to find other caches nearby as it seemed a shame to pass them up. By the end of the day we had covered approx 15-16kms through some very different landscapes than what we normally find in the Waikato.
This was the start of the final stretch for the day and all in all possibly the easiest part of the days walk. It was good at this point to know that we had achieved what we had set for the day and that a great time had been had by all. THis was our final cache for the day along this walk and a stunning day it had been. Now just the walk down to the car and to start telling tales of adventures to come
Thanks for the placement

I was meant to be elsewhere, but this trip had been planned for a while. I almost pulled out in favour of race team responsibilities, but really glad I joined the team of 11HPG11, HKCB, iammrwalker, Cats&Dragons, kiwis69 and Paultaps. Had not been out for a good long hike in quite a while so this circuit definitely took its toll on my legs - not so much on the day, but 3 days afterwards I'm still feeling it in my thighs.
Our route took us down Odlins track to the Pararaha Stream where we turned off and headed downstream stopping off at various caches along the way. We stopped for lunch at the campground at the bottom and then swam across the swamp to the Pararaha Point Pa cache. Then, while some went for Baldy, the rest of us went up the Zion Hill track and spent a while chilling out at Zion's Pool where we waited for the others to join back up. From there we continued up to Mt Zion, and then onwards down to Karekare.
Finally nearing the end of our walk today, and another nice stop to have a break from the knee jarring descent. Took a few minutes to spot this little fella then we headed on down to the beach where Paultaps had the best surprise of the day waiting for us - cold drinks, chips and chocolate cookies! TFTC!!!

Another Hamilton mission, with some crazy keen cachers. Today I teamed up with FMZ, myself, HKCB, Iammrwalker, Catsanddragons, Kiwis69 to form the team F1HICK. We were also kept company by the wonderful guide/guinea pig Paultapps.
Another great stop on the homeward leg of our epic day! Thanks for the cache.

Out and about for a hike this afternoon. This was the first stop on the trail. GPSr was a bit over the place so it took a few minutes of searching to come up with the goods. Cache in good condition. Cheers for the hide!
Went out today for a hike with goober24! The GPS was jumping around far too much today so we seemed to be looking behind every thin tree we saw. TFTC
Hiking with Gwen-o-nator today. Saw the view but couldn't quite get the right place. Eventually found it. tftc
When in Auckland, we must visit the Waitakeres. Something where we go to Baldy please. And Tunnel Point is historic. Turns out this loop has everything you want in an easy daywalk. So, this was out first caching stop, a perfect place for a breather and a view of Karekare Beach. Impressive!
After a long search we came up with the cache.I actually found a old
cellphone,but is not usable anymore.

Out for a hike from Karekare this afternoon and had a look for this cache in the process. I soon figured out the likely tree, but it still took a few moments to find the nicely hidden cache! Nice view here, TFTC!
Did this with KW12. Nice views alright. Took a bit of searching as my GPS was waving all over the place but narrowed it down and got it. We found someones cellphone nearby in the process of looking but its not useable anymore
A couple of trees to choose from so it wasn't too bad at all to find the cache, well camo'd.
Oops forgot the pen. Managed to sign the log the old fashioned way. found while on a mission to Waihuna stream to retrieve some gear I left behind on my last trip. TFTC
A well placed cache on a well-groomed trail on the way up to Zion. All is good and dry with the cache. Cheers for the cache.
heading off on a evening hike to try out my new tent, since the rest of the normal crowd where busy decided to walk in via zion rather than the faster beach, so by the time i get to the camp its be well bed time. Nabbed this one on a the easy climb up to zion as the sun did its setting thing over the sea. Nice easy find once i read which side of the track to look on.. phew.
I'd just passed about 20 muggles about 100m before this cache and while they were slow moving didn't want them catching up, so took the cache on a walk, and returned on the way back down.

Luckily had the tracks loaded on my GPSr so knew that a different route would be suitable for this one. Again wonderful views from the cache and also on the way to the cache. Wonderful day for it too. Lots of thin trees but manage to locate the one which I needed. Nice hide.

I was out in the area doing one particular cache for a missing hole on my D/T grid so I just couldn't pass this one up.
Cheers for the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
Found together with KiwiLeon. A moment of confusion over updated coords and a somewhat lucky find. T4TC
Decided to go for a wander to get away from work on a wet friday night, so recruited the company of evilno9 and went in search for the couple caches that had popped up out this way. After a bit of wandering back and forth as the co-ordinates were a bit out, and via process of elimination the rite tree was found and cache was quickly in hand. Nice spot this, even on a wet stormy night! TFTC Glyn!
Had a pretty wet camping trip up north for a few days, so on returning back to Auckland and seeing a couple of new caches that looked like they were worth getting wet for plans were made with mel_ramsay to go for a wander and try our luck. Noticed as we got close that the coordinates weren't quite pointing where we thought they should so using the clue and the description we narrowed down a few potential search areas and hit pay dirt pretty quickly. Pretty awesome view even on a wet old day. TFTC!
