My 2nd visit here, and I thought yay! The cache has been replaced recently but when I had a look I found something suspicious ans sure enough, yes, the cache has gone. Poor ol' Glyn! That's taxing. So I gave him a text to let him know and made myself a coffee out of the Gorby cafe (you would have had one too G) fed the numerous birds around here and off to the next multi!
SOME BITCH HAS BEEN HERE TO REMOVE OR RETRIOEVE THE CACHE AND BROKE IT IN THE PROCESS WITHOUT ADMITTING TO IT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SHIT!!!
SHIT!!!

went stop here for a second look but alas the area is out or reach behind fences and a digger sitting on top of GZ
We searched, and searched. Looked high, looked low. Poked & prodded anything that looked as if it might possibly move or contain something. Without any joy. Eventually we took a break, did a couple of other caches and grabbed a fortifying coffee at Narrow Neck beach, before coming back for another go. Then Merlot58 said "I reckon it's "in there" ! " So we looked & looked again, & poked & prodded...and then OMG...how did we not see that before? Very sneaky, but quite obvious once you spot it. Certainly gets a favourite from me! TFTC
The lost V bottle almost remained lost forever. Bertie Blowfish and I spent quite sometime searching high and low unsuccessfully and eventually decided to move on to other caches and tackle this again on our way back to the car. Reading some of the logs we saw we needed to look for a retrieval tool so started looking a little harder at one particular spot (which just happened to have been the first spot we had both checked) and finally Bertie had a smile on her dial and the cache in hand. Another very clever hide which eluded us both for quite some time so a fp given
I was almost mauled by the ducks making my way to GZ. Once they realised I had nothing for them they left me alone to do my business. TFTC.
I tried and tried, nothing any where **I** looked, but I'm sure it's there though, how frustrating that it didn't stand out, I was going to feed the ducks, but then I realised I would be feeding the sparrows, the puk's etc and need 20 loaves of bread to do so! So I flagged that idea.
Mr A wasnt fooled by this one.., it seemed immediately like the best spot to loose something, having "lost" one of his own pill containers in the same way.... we did however have to revise our assumption that Mr G2 was less than a metre tall ( cache back down the road) too he was clearly very very tall... or alternatively has mastered anti gravity / was eating anti gravity mushrooms when he put it down....
No luck here. Practised a little CITO as the waterway is horribly polluted for thoe poor ducks [xx(]
Found likely location and evidence but cache is now impossible to get to. Request CO to replace or magic back
We poked we prodded. Blamed the recent wet weather then finally saw the very discreet retrieval tool. Great cache. Gets a favourite from us. A great start to exploring Devonport for the day.

After being molested by pigeons and having a duck constantly going off like it was being slaughtered we quickly had the cache in hand. Unfortunately lots of people were turning up to feed the pesky birds so we had to bide our time and play it cool. Even a mum and her young son who was fishing and had an eel very interested in his bait and close enough to grab. But the cache lid was super tight. After returning to the car for a tool and then again for a rag to grip the cache, we had to give up and leave. We returned later with some other clever MacGyver tricks and tools from our car, packs, up our sleeve, and other items of clothing which can serve as tools including a belt (result loose trousers) , belt buckle, watch strap, etc. In the end brute strength and strong hands opened the cache to extract the log still nice and dry. Phew.
Kiwiscot successfully competed today in the Weet-Bix Tryathlon and managed to get her hands on a gold medal. Now out looking for a couple caches while we wait for the traffic to die down. Would have needed to wait until nightfall though. Busy down this way today. Soon had this one figured out. Nice hide. TFTC
At last; after 3 previous failed attempts we managed to find and retrieve within minutes. Good to get this one off the list
Great hide. Found it quickly with the help of the local residents who allowed us to make our way to the GZ. It is more of an O than a V. I was amazed how dry the log was. Gets a fav point from me.
Found this together with Inspektor Higgins. Great place for a cache! The local residents are so cute!
The hide was awsome! We were ready to give up when the wonderful Mr. Higgins had THE idea!

Out and about with Helefant caching around Devonport this morning. Wowee wouldn't have thought of that place for the hide. Lol. Gets a fav point too. Heaps of bird life around this morning ducks, pukekoes, seagulls, sparrows, pigeons all being fed some bread. SL. TFTC.
while caching in the area with Chosen1978. this was on the list. plenty of friendly ducks to feed. had a wee look in many places with no luck. then after re checking alot closer the wee cache was found thanks.great hiding place.
On a day out caching along the coast with Butchie Bum, stunning weather and area, enjoyed caching along here, brilliant hide, we hunted around looking in crevices for a while then a thought popped in to the head and yip it was there, thanks for a brill cache hide, those v bottle are looking like a great cache container to me... very versatile they are...
Got droppped off here to walk back to Devonport. 20 m away- Why not have a look? A quick gander, looks like we've got egg on our faces here, move on, it's getting cold.
Was in the neighbourhood so figured I'd make my way here to visit this since its replacement. As I pulled up a family were feeding the locals but they quickly cleared off as it started raining. At GZ I carefully manipulated the cache to avoid a repeat incident, and this time successfully logged my find!
Thanks!
Thanks!
Yay .....found today with Ric..I saw were it would be and got him to do retrieval !
Thanks Glyn ...
Thanks Glyn ...
As per my DNF log the tool attachment has broken. The cache is located in the correct place, but will a lot more difficult to retrieve without the use of the tool.
The avians were out in force tonight, but luckily weren't after any food! I quickly found the hide location and after a bit more inspection the retrieval tool. The first retrieval attempt failed and so I tried again. On the second attempt unfortunately the tool attachment broke as I was manipulating its retrieval and the "V" bottle has ended up being a bit more lost (I guess on you could now consider it a higher difficulty cache). Unfortunately I had nothing with me that was suitable for retrieving it in its current state, my apologies
Oh you tricky man. But before I get to the cache I must say the delight of the day was spotting a colourful parakeet as we approached GZ, just beautiful. I was armed with more info so we did manage to find this one - but talk about sneaky! t4tc
So many birds looking at us expecting bread. They lost interested in us pretty fast once they realised we weren't there to feed them. A bit of searching at GZ but once we found the "tool" it was easy work. Managed to get fully dirty hands retrieving the cache tho.

We were in the area picking up a few caches this morning and, based on the previous logs, we thought we might struggle to find this one! But we actually managed a really quick find after spotting part of the cache while investigating the likely hiding spot. A nice hide, TFTC!

Out and about to find some geocaches in Devonport today. I was not yet parked when all the different kind of birds approached. Felt like in Hitchcock’s "the birds". Made it to GZ with no attack and was left alone to make the retrieval. TFTC
Day 1 of Woody & Papa's awesome Mega Adventure. Woody hasn't turned up yet so Papa has decided to return to his old stomping ground having lived near the cache as a junior officer in the Navy. Another sneaky hide. Had a very good idea where the cache was and it was just a matter of searching for the tool. It was found quickly and the log signed. Another favorite point! Salamat!
No luck today still missing for us. Too well hidden.

Fairly sure I knew what was required here but couldn't spot the object in question and then some muggles turned up.
A local was giving the birds their afternoon tea as we arrived so we wandered off to the golf cache & when we returned she had gone & the birds were full so we had place to ourselves-found qwikly-retreival was a liitle tricky-another great cache-tftc
Our second visit here and we found it right away. Where we thought might have been the hiding place last time was in fact it, phew! tftc
Out and about in the Devonport area for some geocaching fun today. As we were driving up to this cache, reading the logs and description, we were like, "oh no! this one might be tricky!" However, when we got there, it was quickly spotted. Retrieval was a little more tricky! We eventually managed, signed the log and were on our merry way. Nice hide. TFTC
As I ducked (pardon pun) under the trees the Council maintenance man with ride on lawnmower came by so I abandoned the search.

hmmm, no luck here, I was particularly interested by a specific item but it was full of water, will keep an eye on this one, cheers
After a bit of head scratching the cache was located. Another clever hide.

No luck with the ducks. Much searching, digging and turning over but nthing showed up.
This was my fourth visit to this cache. Only this time I had an extra hint from a friend, and dang me if I hadn't already looked in that very spot, only this time I had my glasses on. I'm glad that I can finally cross this one off, as its not very pleasant down by the smelly old pond amongst all the duck poo etc. A very clever hide all the same, and deserves a favourite point.
This has been a frustrating cache, not so much due to the cleverness of the hide, but the popularity of the spot. Expected another drive by don't bother stopping visits today, but amazed to find the spot deserted (well of humans).
cache spotted almost instantly, which was just as well as I just got it back when someone pulled up to feed the birds.

Plenty of ducks and pigeons around, but they pretty much ignored us. This one had us puzzled and in the end we had to give up as it was getting late and we had shopping to do. Annoyed, our 3rd DNF of the day Will be back
I had a pretty good idea where this was - but nothing came to hand - maybe the rain has washed the cache away?
Had us stumped for a little while, But i must say an awesome hunt =) must remember to take a loaf of bread down to the ducks next time =)
I must admit that this took a while to find. I had checked its hiding place first, but missed it. I then tried to figure it out from the cache page. Soon gave up and checked the first place I looked again. There it was. Thanks.
Well, got attacked by the birds... searchd for about 5 minutes, with no luck, before some wedding crew rocked on up and took wedding pictures! Didn't want to be the creepy person in the bushes in the back of the picts, so I left...
Scared me though... they were about the same age as me... ah!

"Oh no, not a Glyn cache" I thought... So i brought my A game to this cache. Turns out all the clues were there in the description and I had the cache quicker than I thought. Very nice hide. TFTC
Amazing hide! we had LOTS of help from GP5 (who we met while searching for another cache and he told us we HAD to see this one!) Wouldn't have found it without him. Then, rush back to the ferry to catch our plane home. 'Til next time! tftc
Another detour on way home from the gym, which is in completely the oposite direction. These 'detours' are taking me further and further away from where I am supposed to be going. Never mind, it sure beats working. This is a very cunning hide indeed and took me quite a while to find. Anyhow, managed to find it in the end which is the main thing. TFTC.
Mary Poppins has blown into town so very appropriate to come and feed the birds (Tuppence a Bag). While AV1 lured the birds away from GZ, AV2 swooped in for a superquick find. Cool camo, TFTC.

Another great little cache from the camo king! Had to wait out a muggle who was showing the grandkiddy the little birdies!! Once she moved on and the birds parted we made a quick find at GZ - Miss Geckoh quite impressed that she located it. TFTC

Out and about with the the Future Finder for a spot of caching before the rain sets in. Spotted what I thought was an obvious GZ but didn't spot the cache. Had a quick think and a more careful look had me back on course. Quick find in the end. Log is showing signs of getting wet. Cheers for the hide!
One last find before we head back to the other side. Stopped and read logs and thought "oh no here we go". Pushed our way through all the birds and immediately turned our attention to something...then thought better of it...then hang on whats this....ah...so clever...yeah we finish the day on a high.

Too good for me today. Will be back. Had to just kinder peak as muggled with wee one feeding the ducks. One mother duck had a flock of 12 wee peepers and was showing them off Sooooooo cute. So really couldn't have a good look.most enjoyable all thre same.
Trying to fill another day on the calendar. Not much success today, 2nd cache visited. Too clever for us today. Will try again another day. Lots of birds here though, lovely.
The thought of getting mugged as I departed the safety of the car was deffinatly on my mind, was just glad that the tempreture was no warmer otherwise there was a good chance they would have tarred and feathered me for encroaching on their territory,
Soon in Hand, great hide, TFTC

I didn't need a tool to extract this one. Just used a bit od lateral thinking.
Cheers for the cache.

Must have been the first visitor of the day so I got attacked and driven down the stairs.
No problems locating and retreiving the V bottle.
Forgot my pen so had to go back to the car.
When I returned the crowd had settled and gave me a free passage back to GZ.
Nice hide.

Wow, this one will definitely get a favorite point. I looked and looked and was about to flag it when suddenly I spotted something. I did not find the tool so I used my hands to get the "V" Bottle.
It was very nicely done.

Not so many birds around at 6.30 in the morning on way to a softball tournament, a dozen pidgeons and the ducks were all in the water. Had driven passed on Thursday and the birds were taking up half the road. Quickly found the "v" bottle, but while shoeing away the recently arrived large "picnic' gulls I lost it again. TFTC
No-one about today apart from the ducks so was able to search at leisure. Found the likely hiding place but no tool to be found. Discovered another way to retrieve the cache without comprising it or the hiding place. Wouldn't want to try this in a couple of days when the place will be teeming with Tryathalon kids. Nicely hidden cache and a favourite from us.
Very fun hide. Initial thought was nah can't be there but then looked more carefully and spotted the sucker. Lots of muggle ducks around this evening and every evening by the look of things. TFTC.
Yippee! A nice find for us with the library support, because we did not have the coordinates loaded in our gizmo. TFTC!!
This is a very busy spot and we had to wait around for some muggles to finish feeding the birds. We were unsuccessful in locating the required tool provided but we had something suitable in the car. Tricky little hide. TFTC.
Waited 15 minutes for muggles to depart, started searching, two minutes later more muggles arrived, then before they had left another group arrived, gave up after almost 30 minutes of waiting. Those ducks must be the best fed in Auckland!
Very cool cache! We left the Junior Pastamakers to destract the avian muggles with some stale cupcakes then followed the GPS which brought us to an area with some features of interest. After some careful thought we soon had the cache in hand.
Just as we returned the cache some Police muggles turned up across the road and we thought we were in trouble but turned out their interests lay elsewhere

8630 Nice hide… didn’t get any help from your feathered friends though, forgot our bribes of bread. Thanks for the cache Birdman G.
It was nice encountering all those different sorts of birds, unfortunately we forgot to bring some bread with us. Perhaps next time. TFTC
We see what Glyn means about the birds! They had us surrounded before we even got out of the car! Fortunately they chased us in the same direction as Glyn, then lost interest when they realised we had no food on us (no V bottles either). Spotted something interesting, and somewhere the cache may have fallen, and in no time at all we had retrieved the lost "V" bottle. Managed to sign the log, but before we could pocket the "V" bottle to return it to Glyn, a young family arrived to feed the birds, and in the avian stampede the bottle was knocked from our hands and lost agsin. Oops.
Great Fun, thanks!
