Logs
I am archiving this cache as the further development happening at the former Aorangi Primary School means this cache is no longer accessible (as mentioned by the previous cachers).
Thanks for those that came and checked this out - it was my first cache I ever hid.

As below all fence off. Didn't read last log until we got there Unfortunately.
It looks like development has begun on the former school site. I soon spotted the cache and signed it off. Tftc.
Out for an early morning run, well walk with a little bit of jogging realy Street was nice and quiet, looks like the old school area is being subdivided but cache is still safe and intact. TFTC!
A quick grab around the place before the event, the diggers have moved in and the place looks like it's getting some development. Cheers
25 October 2015Attending the mega. Enjoying the beautiful city of chch. The weather is perfect. The cachers are everywhere and 100%friendly. Last day today sadly has been awesome learnt tons of stuff. .
[green] My first day in Christchurch, having arrived last night. Normally I would head out each day and cache out a suburb, and so by the end of two weeks pretty much have cached out the city. But it is all a green field! I could not decide which way to go. So in the end I let the GPS decide. This is the first time I have cached in a city restricting myself to Garmin's Get Next Closest and seeing where it lead me. I started in the middle of town at the square and ended up at Riccarton Racecourse, with a trail of 50 little smileys behind me.
Found with treasure hunting Tim. A few hours to fill in before heading to the airport and returning to hawkes bay. An easy find on a dreary and wet day. Tftc
Quick find by torchlight on a lovely bike ride. It was very dark around here! TFTC
Nice quick find. Sad to see the school moved on, but that is the reality of the impact of the earthquakes. (Done over Easter, but forgot to log once home and busy again)
A quick find on a windy, but nice late summer afternoon. Amazing to see that nothing is left - pretty sure we will see some new houses soon. TFTC
A sad site. This one took longer that it should have. Missed it in my grid search the first time, but got there in the end. Thanks for bringing me here.
Sad to see the old site but positive to see so much new development in ChCh, clever idea and placement TFTC
Thanks for the easy find. The clues helped as wasn't quite where our GPS placed us.
Arrived at a quite deserted GZ. The coordinates were a bit off, so returned to the car and read the previous logs. Scanned the possible hides and had the cache in hand very quickly. Signed the log, however, had to wait for muggles to pass before I could place the cache back. TFTC!
Found in the dark after a few minutes searching up and down the fence, until the GPS stabilised.
While I was in the area visiting a fellow geocacher we took a stroll over to this spot for a second try at this one. This was one of the first caches I tried after just starting geocaching and it eluded me. This time I had a bit more experience and was also told by my friend that the coords were out by quite a few metres. Found quickly this time in a good hiding spot. TFTC
In Christchurch for some work today with a bit of spare time before getting started so decided to go and find a few caches along the way. Parked across the road and wandered over to the cache. Weather a bit damp so keeping most muggles at bay. Didn't take too long to zero in on the cache. A bit sad to see the school gone and with recent news, this could be a more common sight around this city. TFTC, Biggles.
Felt a wee bit exposed here, found quickly and went back to the truck to sign. Replaced cache and off to the next one. TFTC.
Very disappointed that I did not find it - everybody else seems to have no trouble finding the cache. Must return when there are fewer people around!
Didn't even recognize this place as a former school! TFTC !

As I pulled up to the park, noticed a family there, right at GZ. Bugger, will have to wait for them to go. That's when I noticed they seemed to be searching for something, so got out of the car and asked them if they were geocachers. Relieved when they answered yes. Soon after one of the junior members found the cache, so all I needed to do was sign the log . Great to meet others while caching.
Sadly, more CHCH schools are closing. Kendal School, my sons' old primary school, closed at the end of 2013 .

A nice easy cache with interesting history ThanksTeamMcNeill for the cache:)
Thanks for this one. Nice container in excellent condition;) Quick find when heading to the bank;)
Third of four in a night amble.
I can understand they had to remove the school buildings, but the playground, goal posts and netball hoops too? And why lock the gates?

Easy to find but not easy to grab with all the EQ repair guys around at the moment.
A quick park and grab while I was in the area. These places are great for caching. Kinda addictive as this is number 3 for today and I was only planning on going for one Tftc
Thankfully this was a nice quick find after having 2 previous DNFs today. Was getting a bit concerned that I may have been going blind! Felt a bit exposed as there is a house right next to the GZ so tried to be as discreet as possible. Thanks for the cache.
