I had this morning free with nothing on for a change, so I thought I would go for a small hike at Mt Dandenong. It's been a while since I was last there. Lovely area, especially taking the little trails away from all the trail runners and mountain bikes on the main trails. All caches found, which is great, not so much the leaches that all wanted to eat me.The first geocache at Mt Dandy and it was a quick find at 7.30 am. It was also the first leech of the day. It must have been on cache waiting for me. Thanks for the cache, Paul_the_Hippy.Hunter
Currently trying to finish the year with a streak and so heading out daily, for a cache. Plus their are a few other caches I need for challenges. Quick find, but the cammo scared me!Thanks to Paul_the_Hippy for the fun and the adventure.
Interesting bit of history, thanks Paul_the_Hippy. The hide - LOL - what should I expect from you... this trip has shown me "nothing less" and for once I am grateful Tiz13 found it before me. I might have squealed. Thanks for the cache Paul_the_Hippy
Snips and Co and l meet up for some more DM punishment today.. I myself loved the walk even the steep sections and the goat trails. We both have an aversion and a deep hate for leeches. I sprayed us both in anticipation, but it wasn't enough to deter them..so like the morbid stories attached to some of the caches we found today thanks to PTH, many met there demise from our hands (gloved of course) or poles. This was one of the caches we found today.
Nice strolling through the park, and a quick find here. Thank you Paul_the_Hippy for placing the cache and allowing everyone to enjoy it.
Found this one after visiting a new cache in the area.
Was completely dark at the time so needed a headtorch to scout around for it.
Found it quite quickly.

Out on may bike picking up a few downhills, uphills and caches! This was an easy one on the way back to the car, and cute guardian of the container! TFTC
Thanks for the cache Paul the hippy, nice little fella didn't try to gnaw my fingers as I coaxed him from his lear. Regards from Victourer
Tftc.. quick little find.. speed what looked like the correct spot first time cache found in good nick.
Found and signed with dalerious on another weekend away doing what we both love so very much . This part of East Melbourne is a glorious place to explore, and we do not hesitate to plan a day or two caching here . So many adjectives can be used to describe the area that these mystery caches have been hidden in. Majestic for one, comes to mind and we are grateful to be given the chance to cache here.
We planned our time away as always, strategically, as my man and I only get one full day a week to cache, and I have a fair way before he and I are on the same page, and can start to plan our caching future with the same goals. So it's catch up time for me, and alot of re-visit time for him . So many goals were reached this trip, and I got to sign so many prestigious old caches .
Rattus, rattus where for art thou rattus. Rattus is a rodent by another name. Other is what we were after here. A great set of caches Paul.

Catnap777 and I were pretty much packing up for the day when we came across this little "Other" cache on our radar.
We had been targeting mystery caches in the Dandenongs this day but could always use another Other in our stat's.
TFT(Other)C Paul.

Found with a little fright by my partner because of what was on top of the container haha
Just out for a walk in my 10km area.
Haven’t found any caches for a while, but this was a good distraction today.
Cheeky hide but fairly straight forward.
Thank you

Today, I brought one of my colleagues along caching with me after we both finished work, as we were meeting with others from work for dinner at the Pig and Whistle, but we had three hours to kill.
First of the day, as many others that were on my list were inaccessible due to the storms and the area being closed. This was a few steps off the road, although we went the long way around, as I hadn't seen the track right next to my car! I let Pru find this, as it was her very first cache. "So what exactly are we looking for??" is what I was asked.
She had a ball! And wants to go again.

A pleasant if grey day for a wander in the area to find a few caches.
A neat hide protected by a pointy nosed guardian.

With travel restrictions eased, we headed straight for the hills. It felt great getting back to one of our favourite areas and we were going to made the most of our day. After collecting a nearby DM cache, we took a short drive to this one.
No trouble spotting this cache and our signature was soon in the logbook.
Thank you Paul_the_Hippy for the informative cache page, and placing this cache.

A *"bit of a surprise"* you say? That'll teach me for a) not reading the description in full prior to attempting the cache, and b) being a half-asleep dozy git when uncovering the cache! Well it certainly woke me up, that's for sure! *Mastacomys Fuscus?* Not quite. Try *Mastacomys Fuscus Mordicus* (with the other sub-species *Mastacomys Fuscus Fuscus* inhabiting Tassie). Ain't the Internet a wonderful thing?

Happened to be taking the short cut up the mountain here today and pulled in for the first cache find in ages.
Should have read the activity. I got quite a start. Ha. You got me.
The bull ants have moved in too so be warned one and all.

We do like native rats as opposed to rattus rattus! In Melbs to spend time with mum Mollie and had intended to do the MTBO event at Silvan but with Drizzle and social distancing taking a more serious turn, decided to head of and find a few caches. Nice find. TFTC
Initially went far too deep into the trees, was about to give up, and spotted the likely candidate as I headed back to the car. Mr Rat logged, TFTC
I was in a bit of a hurry but couldn't help myself so a quick stop and a quick find. Only saw one little plastic rodent there but no real ones. Tftc.
Good spot . Trackable brought from the UK left here. Enjoy the journey Whitlock!!
WOW! It was VERY scary! I did this with my Aunty and cousins! One of my cousins found it! She screamed soo loud that I think China could hear it! There was a RAT on the top! Not a real rat a fake rat! I swapped a bell for a ring! It was very fun! We found it under a tree! We found it in like 11 seconds! It was in a black container and it hade a rat on top! The rat was black! It was a very creative prank! It was funny to see her response! This was our 5th one! I was VERY easy and fun! BYES!
My second Hippy "Revegetation" cache for the day. This was a quick park and grab after doing various caches around the Eagle Nest picnic area, and was my last before leaving my beloved hills for the flatlands and family-type duties this arvo.
Signed the log, visited a trackable. Thanks for the cache, Paul_the_Hippy - always great to read your background notes, and cute container too.

I had been given a big chunk of time to go caching today after a busy day yesterday with the kids. I made an early start in the darkness but pretty soon the sun was out to reveal a beautiful day. In this park my GPS was so wobbly - so I was very thankful for some detailed hints I would have been lost without them! Thanks so much for always putting history, ecology and science into your descriptions Paul, they are always great to read on the walk to the cache. A quick find at GZ, TFTC!
Couldn’t see the sign, but found it after some hunting around based on the ‘large tree’ clue!
Quick easy find on a lovely day

Easily found, we checked if there is not a snake in the hole.
None, but à little surprise on the container. We put à little pingouin inside.

Facilement trouvée, nous avons bien vérifié qu'il n'y avait pas de serpent dans le trou. Aucun mais une belle surprise sur le container. Nous avons ajouté un pingouin voyageur.

As we approached GZ, we were reading the description of the cache. Hmmm. What are we supposed to be looking for? At GZ, the cache was quite evident, and the title made a lot of sense. TFTC Paul_the_Hippy.

I don't particularly like rodents but I don't understand the panic they cause in a lot of people. But I guess we all have our own fears. One of my fears is coulrophobia (clowns). I'm also scared of people dressed up in big costumes - think Disneyland or Movie World.
But enough about that, this ended up being much more drive-by than I thought it would and I quickly found it. Again, nobody was around so that's always good.
Thanks Paul the Hippy

Quick find by geokids...who jumped back a metre when they first went to grab cache. TFTC
Geomissus waited in the car. Good move. She would have hated this cache
Lots of traffic along these roads. Lots of *fast* traffic. eeek! Thankfully the drivers slowed down to pass, but all the dust they dragged up was awful.
At least the caching in this area is good Thanks Paul the Hippy for another cache and the interesting little story.
