Nice quick find here. The road wasnt very busy. Only time for a quick rest. [TFTC]
Heading to Whangamata for a few days so stopped here to see if I could turn my frown upside down. I dont know why I couldnt find this the last time I was here as it didnt take long to find.
Accio 13:35:06On our epic New Zealand exploratory holiday with T4mmmy - today was a drive south from Pauanui seeing more of the coastline. Including a quick stop here - complete with chickens. Every cache needs chickens - wild chickens? Thanks G-2 for entertaining me at this location. *{Overall find #11683}*
Together with Travelser I'm going Down Under. We are driving around with a motorhome. After 7 weeks driving around through Australia we arrived the 2th November in New Zealand. For ten days we will cross the Northern Island and than for 2 weeks the Southern Island.During our trip we of course search for several caches. Most of them brought us to very nice spots, like this one.All the CO's, and in this case G_2, thanks for bringing us here and give our trip a special accent.
After traveling around Australia with Oopie for 7 weeks, we have now been traveling with the camper in New Zealand for 4 weeks. Along the way we will of course also visit various types of caches in beautiful places, including this one. Thanks CO for creating and laying this cache.
Found with goldielover.
Had to chase the chooks away.
All good here with your cache

Found with stairman1. We arrived at GZ and found a mother hen and 12 chicks scratching in the bush. That was special. All good with the cache. TFTC
TaurusSix and I are in New Zealand for a three weeks holiday. We love New Zealand and have had lots of wonderful experiences here previously. This time we have decided to focus our attention on three destinations for one week each, all in the North Island. The Coromandel Peninsula, Waiheke Island and The Bay of Isles. We are very mindful of not focusing all our attention of the holiday on geocaching, however it will still play an important part. We are deliberately focusing on caches that involve some walking, great views, interesting attractions , history and general points of interest. And this will all happen in between exploring, swimming , walking, doing touristy things and relaxing .

Day 8 - Christmas Day a lovely relaxed day. We took the early morning quite leisurely before heading off to explore a new beach on the Coromandel Peninsula with a picnic Christmas lunch. As we were leaving Pauanui though we decided to collect the last two caches on the The Pauanui/ Tairua cycle way, to get to them we parked at the nearby resort and took the nice short walk to collect both. Then it was on to Opoutere Beach, nice drive to get there collecting a few caches along the way and once there we collected a few more. The main aim of the day though was to chill out at the beach, swim, read and walk along the beach we managed all three.

Campervan travel south! Stopped of and grabbed the cache. There was a family of chickens at the rest stop.
Cased this spot numerous times with a quick drive in and out when muggles abounded. This time was early evening returning 90 year old mother home and a welcome stop to breathe in some beautiful bush air before locating the cache as expected.
Found it at the second possible location within the stop. Nice easy find. Thank you for this adventure.
A nice straight find after doing a few scrambling in the scrub.
Many thanks for putting this here for us to find

Found on way to Auckland after an amazing long weekend at Opoutere campsite. This is Icing on the cake tho being able to stop for a cache. Thank you for adding to my perfect weekend
I think I stopped off here for a blind find attempt without signal or data last year but no luck. Better today as I had both, and a GPS and a quick find ensued. Cheers G_2
Off out for the day to Pauanui and other nearby areas as the weather forecast for tomorrow doesn't look too flash. We found a 'few' caches by a certain North Island CO, which was to be expected due to the prolific regional placements. Guess we can see where he likes to vacation in Jan each year?
I have got a busy few days coming up, and am heading north to the Coromandel peninsula for the weekend with a work holiday home booked for this upcoming long weekend, including stat day on Monday. Then I'm heading home with mrs c for a couple of days leave followed by a couple of days WFH before heading back to Manawatu and my new work area at the weekend. Not massive numbers of cache finds but a few to keep things ticking over and a surprising amount by Auckland based COs too! Thanks to all cache owners for their contributions.

Checked the wrong spot then realised my mistake. Lots of muggles going past today. Tftc
I was heading to Opoutere for the morning and stopped here, not for a rest but a cache but despite a thorough look I couldn't find it

My husband seems to think we already got this and maybe I didnt log it? Well here again! TFTC
Awww turns out that he found it without out me and left this log. We'd only been dating 6 months and now he is my geocaching husband ♡♡♡
As mentioned in previous logs there were chickens near GZ but they weren't as friendly today as they had been in the past. They seemed more intent on diving down a bank of gorse and hiding behind an old tyre than posing for photos with Mrs Coblet,
Oh well, their loss.
As for the cache, we soon spotted it and signed the log as the chickens reappeared and had the audacity to ask us for food.

We are on our summer holiday, we usually take a few weeks and travel around the South Island, but this year we are heading around the North Island. Heading up the West coast and back down the East coast. Finding only a select few caches along the way, we are mostly targeting some challenges we have qualified for, some large size caches, some that fill gaps in our date placed grid, a few D/T combinations, some with lots of favourite points, letterboxes and anything else that grabs our fancy.
I had a fall on day two of our holiday, while out geocaching which has resulted in a fractured bone in my leg and I am in a moon boot and with crutches and I was told to keep weight off my leg. So I am only limited use when it comes to our trip now. I tend to stay in the campervan and just hand out suggestions of when and where GK should search.
We stop every now and then when there is good parking just so that we can get a yellow smiley on our map. This way we can revisit our travels and know which roads we travelled.
This was one of those caches, it was a nice easy find. the log was signed and the cache returned as we found it.
Thanks for placing this cache and thank you for the smiley.

Day 11 - Monday 28 December - Pauanui - Puketui Valley - Whangamata. Another full on day and hills to conquor!
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

At the rest stop there was a muggle feeding the wild chickens. Taybeedragon decides to be a prat and drive straight through rather than go around them (plenty of room). I think she is a little tired after that big climb up the hill at the goldfields back there. No probs with the cahe.
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

Found, accompanied by a flock of friendly chickens They followed us around while hunting for the cache and then promptly 'played dead' (catching some sun warmth) because we didn't feed them! They were a lot happier and livelier than the picture suggests, we promise!
North Island Campervan trip Day 5
After the fantastic holiday I had a few months ago traveling around the South Island, making the most of one of those incredibly cheap campervan deals available at the time, I figured it was worth taking a week off work before the stresses of the usual holiday period to enjoy some of the delights to be found around the top of the North Island.
This would be a great chance for me to seek out some targeted caches such as the TMGT ones as well as some that would help me with my Jasmer grid, missing minutes (for a couple of challenge caches I'm working on) and any other caches that caught my eye.
Having spent last night in Whitianga, I was intending to head back down the Coromandel and make my way over to Tauranga by this evening. I wasn't sure how much help I was going to get from the weather, so made an early start to try to get as much caching done as possible before the rain hit!
Another cache done in and out of passing rainfalls. Luckily a quick find here today. There were no issues with the cache or log, which was signed and replaced exactly as found before making my way back to the campervan to carry on my journey.
Thanks for setting this cache up.

Making our way home to Tauranga when we stopped for this one. The resident spider did NOT want to get off without some serious encouragement.
Guys in a caravan were having lunch so could not see me. Another convenient leg stretch.
So. Driving by. I wonder, sight unseen, what are the chances of there being a cache? 1/1 it turns out. TFTC.
A quick drive by cache which was soon in hand.

Thought we caught another cacher when we arrived but they were in a different spot to the navigation point (they had such a guilty look when we turned up). Not sure what they were doing but after actually following the co-ordinates the cache was soon in hand. TFTC

Was so funny as we pulled over in our motorhome to let the fast cars go past after an awesome weekend in whitianga. Just happened to look at my phone and wow a cache 10 mars away. Sooooo a real jump out must do. Then back on the road agin.
Heading up the Coromandel peninsula for the weekend the road signs indicate this is a 'lookout'. Hah! Obviously the surrounding trees have grown somewhat over the years.
We stopped here to water the dog, and because there's a geocache here. Plus it keeps my streak going.

First day in Neuseeland and fix und fertig, da für uns heute ja nachts ist. Aber hilft ja nichts, wenn man zwei Stunden zur Unterkunft durch den Linksverkehr muss und auf dem Weg einige Caches liegen. Alle Caches mehr oder weniger schnell und gut gefunden.

On our 37th day in New Zealand we went to Whitianga on the Coromandel Peninsula. We left Whakatane early morning in order that we have enough time for intermediate stops on this trip. There really was a lot of traffic and because of that we were not able to stop for some caches as we were already standing in a queue. But we were still able to find a number of boxes and saw again great spots.
We were glad for this short stop here. There were some muggles around but luckily for us the place near where the box was hidden was still empty. So it was no problem at all for us to search the box and sign the log.
TFTC and greetings from Switzerland

The Central North Island, Day 2: Coromandel - Tauranga.
Today, we traversed the East Coast of the Peninsula, visiting the key sites of interest along the way. The weather held up for most of the day, with even quite a bit of sunshine in the afternoon. Many places were crowded with tourists, but it wasn’t as bad as I would have expected. Didn’t cause muggle issues in too many places either. Another long, tiring but eventful day with a couple more places crossed off my NZ Bucket List.
The following is the specific log for each cache:
Yes! Rest! Another excellent place to stop while navigating the winding roads here in the Tramway Gully. Much appreciated and easy find here. TFTC!

22410 Traveling through New Zealand to see nice people and places. Also to find some geocaches.
Today we were went from Whakatane to Pauanui along the seaside, seeing nice places and visiting caches, along the road. on both sides. Crossing the road is not always safe. We visited the nice town Katikati to see all the drawings on the walls and to walk a part of the Katikati Haku trail with 4 caches.
At arrival we walked through the town to see the shops/streets, and cactch some caches near the motel.
Most caches were found quite quickly. A few took more time. Several were with waterproof paper, but our stamp and pen do not work that good on such paper, where when it was wet paper it logs fantastic.
The lookout is now trees only.[:o)]
