Beautiful spot. The coordinates are correct. The bush is much overgrown. Had to crawl. I moved it slightly closer as the was gorse.
Wasn't able to snag this one today as weather started to roll in during the search so will return another day! Also, depending on how soon the next cacher passes by, be aware that there is a bit of a grisly sight of decomposing animals as you approach the trig from the north.
Go deep! That took some searching and a few scratches, but nothing too serious. Cheers
A great day walking in the hills! Started a bit overcast and a little spitting rain, but ended up a stunner. Great spot to enjoy the solitude! TFTC!!
Great day for an adventure out this way. Turning back here but have carried on to Red Rocks prior to being introduced to the world of geocaching! Great spot to mark my 1000th find!
Many thanks- fantastic day!

Parked up at the windmill with the target being Te Kopahou. Stunning views in all directions on the walk with views over Wellington, Pencarrow, Cook Strait, Karori Rock, the South Island and the Western Hills. All caches were in good condition and relatively quickly found on most occasions. Only one walker and one biker on the way in, a bit busier on the way out with 1 walker, 3 bikers, 1 fallow deer crossing the road in front of me which was very unexpected, 1 small goat keeping an eye on me, 1 kaka, 2 Kereru sitting in a Broom bush eating Broom seeds, a few quail and a few Tui. This one ended up being the most tricky. There has been a bit of growth since the cache was placed so like the previous finder did some crawling under the plant material and spotted the blue amongst the green. Able also to claim 4.34 km towards the DGSc distance challenge. Thanks for the cache.
Found after a bit of a hunt and eventually thinking, "Where would I put it." One belly crawl later and there it was. Tftc.
Found it while out trapping with ccvc. With me was roving medic and a newbie who is no a geocache fan
Found after a bit of a hunt, on other side of shrub than indicated by coordinates (at least, on my phone GPS). All good, but I'm with Bruce that barberry (not gorse) is spreading. Tftc!
Was a bit dubious about this one as there is a big "no trespassing" sign just before the track to the trig but figured this related to the main road and went up.
As mentioned by previous finders, the cache is actually close to a bit of gorse which is the opposite of the hint but coords were pretty accurate.

I wanted to grab a couple of cache finds today and I headed to this site that was the furthest from my starting point. I wasn't expecting any difficulty but my GPSr insisted ground zero was exactly where the hint said I shouldn't be. After searching for a while, I pulled out my phone to see if it favoured any where else but I got exactly the same result. I then got out the gloves and got down on my hands and knees to check out the area even though I wasn't confident about looking in a place that seemed contrary to what was described in the listing and hint. To my surprise, I did see a hint object and, very soon after, the cache. Yes, it's not in the gorse but it is very close to it so I guess things have changed since the cache was initially placed. Also, it can be accessed more easily from a different angle to the one I chose. Thanks, Hurricane Luke and agcnz for placing and maintaining a cache at such a terrific location.
Midweek walk with jgirl1880 up to Te Kopahou trig. We sat for a while to admire the view before walking back to the turbine. Thanks for bringing up here
A great summer day for a good hike on the South Coast hills. Ended up doing a 17.6km loop, with 1,028 vertical meters. Grabbed seven caches along the way. Fantastic views from these ridges. Highlight of the trip was finding two wild piglets in the middle of one of the tracks. Was a bit nervous while they cam really close to me that a sow would crash out of the brush and get me!
All caches were quick finds, so apologies for the cut n paste logs.

That Hurricane Luke fella sure does like his high points. I arrived here sans pen after having lost it 2 caches back so I was pleased to find a pencil in this one (which I borrowed to nip down and sign the previous cache before bringing it back).
It's been a pretty good bike ride out to here on a day which started out quite cloudy with little wind but the cloud disappeared by the time I got here and it was more than a little warm.
I must say I'm impressed by the number of caches I've encountered over time which were placed by somebody who's moved on from Geocaching and now maintained by agcnz - a diligent maintainer if ever there was one. I appreciate the effort in preserving the legacy of caches like this. Thanks for maintaining this one.

Nice day for a bike out here, although a bit cold on the hands. Hardly any wind to speak of.

The end of our walk. Its a big downhill to continue from here. The wife managed to find the only spear grass plant I noticed today by leaning on it. (I wonder where it has all gone).
I was up this way this morning to find some new caches nearby so I came on to check this one out. Good weather but seriously windy up here today. Great to see that the cache is in pristine condition after almost 6 years, obviously those Sistema containers do work sometimes All good, hopefully for many more years!
#5400. After abandoning a day trip into the Orongorongo valley on Saturday due to poor weather, I was pleased to see a calm, sunny and warm day forecast today. The family needed the car until midday but I managed to get over here soon after noon. Decided it would be a great time to venture up to Hawkins Hill. But to get maximum fitness training, I parked in Happy Valley Road by Landfill Road and grafted my way directly up the hill to this cache. Certainly a good work out from 30m asl to about 500m in altitude at Hawkins Hill. The gate across the road did make me stop to ponder what was up. But a read of the sign clearly shows there is public access easement along this road and ridgeline. The actual reserve boundary runs in straight line from the gate to the trig at Te Kopahou. Nice quick find here in the first place checked. Signed the log and replaced the cache as found. Thanks Hurricane Luke and agcnz for maintaining the cache. Claiming 3.99 km from car to cache in a straight line for DGSC challenge.
Carrying on with our mission, me and rusty and ivss_xx, we arrive here to see this trig, walking from the Blades, the walk so far is easy enough. But we know it's going to be a little harder from here on in! Still, we have fabulous views today, almost no wind, but cool temperatures. Ivars found the cache before I can even look for it - too busy admiring the scenery...

Little did we know that the folded feather was a mere warm up for the slopes we continued on after it.
Another panoramic paradise on this day - Te Kopahou and it's cache done. While Gorby and rusty were hanging around the trig I didn't waste my time and went straight for the cache box!

With gorby and ivss_xx for a day walk to the coast
So here we are at the trig, admiring the views, taking heaps of pictures, whilst ivss_xx calls out he has already found it!
So far we are the only people on this walk (two cyclists at the Leprechaun's Munster). Looks like we are avoiding the crowds, and having this all to ourselves. Thanks agcnz for the hides and the maintenance.

What a little Jewel to find!! Continuing the cruise segment our tour of New Zealand - today was Wellingtons turn. On an organised tour from the ship and we were given a 15 minute photo stop at a beautiful scenic spot. Out of curiosity I checked the app to see if by any chance there was a cache here and there was!!!! 120m away - quickly checked to see if it was active before I set off with the entourage that gathered from the 4x4 safari group up to find out what caching was all about. Located GZ and cache was found by the tour guide Sean - who held it up and said “is this what you are looking for?” Quickly signed the cache and replaced as found. Think we may have found a couple of new cachers.A favourite point from me too. TFTC

It was misty and blowing up here today but the cache was easy to find and all contents were safe and dry Am now heading down the Bunker Track to Sinclair Head Doing a recce for a group trip planned for August TFTC
Avoided small portion of trek by borrowing GF's car and driving to windmill. Still left around 3 hours and 10 km for 3 caches (or 4 if I can work out the EarthCache)! Note access to here has been sorted and there's a public Right of Way corridor along the track. TFTC agcnz.
I went for a walk today that turned out to be a bit longer than I originally intended. About 17km if my Fenix watch is to be believed. I started at Happy Valley Rd went up the Tip Track, and did a big loop. Anyway I enjoyed the walk and ended up with a few finds as well. All good. Cheers and TFTC
#6338. Started from the Wind Turbine for a straightforward but long walk to Te Kopahau Reserve. 4.5 km to the trig. Great views. GZ was all quiet. Quick find. The cache was in excellent condition.
+ Dr. Quak
Took nothing, signed log. Thanks for the cache.

A lonely spot - feel a million miles from civilisation. So a bit strange using a nice 4WD track to get here!
Third easy find of the day (all found so far without reading the cache descriptions or the hints!)

A nice Saturday for Geocaching. We went to Red Rocks from the Brooklyn. Nice a trail and a beautiful views. Thanks.
On a mission to walk out to Te Kopahou from the Brooklyn whirrer. So this was our mid-point and we were happy to make a quick and easy find. Earlier caches had proved to be a challenge in places and we had 2 x DNFs at this stage.
Cache in order, log signed. There is a logged find from 6 January which has yet to appear here on the listing. We were hoping to be able to claim a "lonely cache" on this one, but not to be!
TFTC found with team cacher Sweet P too
As promised the views and the grandeur to be experienced here are world class. Highly recommended, but come on a good day.
The Turtle strikes again!

Found as part of the Peak Performance Challenge. Took a little while to find as the GPS was doing a bit of wandering. The trig beacon is down at the moment replaced by one of the Continuous Global Positioning System (CGPS) stations. TFTC !
After work bike ride to knock off another Peak for the Challenge.
Didn't take as long as I expected to get there.
Awesome views every which way you look.
Thanks for bringing me here.

Wonderful day for a ride up. Out with Mel0n. Superb spot - as with others up near Hawkins Hill. Thanks!
What a great lunch spot on our big circuit today. No wind, fantastic views, and nice lunch spots. Really enjoying this walk and all the interesting sights along the way. TFTC
6/7 (not including a letterbox) on an epic day's caching with StreetWalkerNZ, Troodles, Simpsonsrgr8, kjwx and her geopup, and the eldest littlejardisliketardis. Once again, incredible views were on show here, at the southernmost point of our trip today. We decided to maintain elevation instead of progressing down to the coast, as most of us were beginning to tire by this stage. The littlejardisliketardis fashioned himself a resting couch using his jacket and one of the sturdy bushes at GZ. TFTC
This was as far as we came along this track before heading back to the radone and down via the old stock yard, though streetwalker and I took a slight detour on the way back to check out the bounary issues.
Find 6 of 7 (plus a letterbox) on today's group outing with Troodles, StreetWalkerNZ, Simpsonsrgr8, JardisLikeTardis and her eldest junior, plus my geopup Coca.
Unfortunately I was beginning to overheat at this stage, though the puppy quickly got into kamikaze mode, tearing up and down the trig station hill.

When we saw the trig, those less fit amongst the group let out a wee groan. But I made it up the last few metres and even found the cache - the only one I found on the trip.
At this point we turned back, planning on returning via Old Stockyard.
Thanks for bringing me here, Luke.

#3643. GZ was another great vantage point. At this point we headed back past the Radome, to conserve height for getting to Old Stockyard. Will probably do the others in the circuit from the coast track. TFTC.
It was a beautiful fine and calm afternoon so I decided to put a couple of hours aside and bike up here from the turbine carpark to find some of the new caches. The cache was a quick find. This was the first time I had ever been to this spot, and the views were to die for! - gets an instant favourite point As I was on the bike, I turned back at this point rather than go further down the track - I was still after the Boundary Issues cache but it was quicker to leave the bike at the top of the Red Rocks track and walk down that way. Signed log, TFTC and for bringing me here.

FTF 2045 shared with Yeetrees and -gonefishing-. Another quick find along and another blank log while out for an evening stroll with them. This was out turn around point for the journey but with a planned detour to Boundary Issues while on the way home.
In general it was a wonderful night to be out and about with a very bright moon which for the most part provided enough light to walk without the need for torches and very little wind to detract from ones enjoyment of the suroundings. While the cloud cover was hanging around, lights from the south Island were still visible as were a couple of passing ferries. I am looking foward to returning here in the daylight hours to check out the views proper.
Ramble #2 for Rambler's Reward GC2XBA7.
A total outing time of approx 5 hours in which I picked up 4 caches (including 2 FTFs) and a distance of just over 18km.

WOW a second joint FTF (20:50), This was our fourth cache for the night doing a few caches with -gonefishing- and fozzmiester in the lovely Wellington moonlight along the Brooklyn wind turbine to South Coast walkway. After finding GC3ACXT All Three (Wellington), we headed off to the last cache that was on this walkway to the south coast, for some strange reason, maybe it was the moonlight or the bright stars in our eyes we missed our turnoff and ended up at a dead end so had to go cross country to get ourselves back on to the correct track and we were soon back on our way to the cache, arriving at GZ it didn't take too long for -gonefishing- and fozzmiester to tracked down the hiding spot of the cache, was totally wrapped that the logbook was empty and that we were able to claim another joint FTF. After finding this last cache on this track and took a few second to admire the views of Wellington City night views and also managed to see a couple of ferries passing each other in the middle of the night on the way to thier destinations before turning around and making our way back towards the Brooklyn wind turbine and our way to next cache along the other walkway to the South Coast, what a great night to be out and about definitely a better night to do caching as the moonlight was just bright enough that we really didn't need to use any torches until we needed them for retrieving caches, thanks for placing a cache here and bringing us to this lovely spot and for bringing us to this lovely spot which had great view even though it was night-time, TFTC TNLNSL (4352) Yeetrees FTF Craze and Tane Ruru "The Geocaching Morepork" decided to come out and check these caches out as well. A great spot for a cache and definite the best on for the night so it deserves a favourite, decided that since this cache was the best one for the night so I will submit it for my Ramble No:4 for GC2XBA7 - Rambler's Reward Challenge Cache (Dunedin, Otago).
Joint FTF with fozzmiester and yeetrees. A nice quick find here and again very pleased to see a blank log sheet. When we started out, the moon was bright and the sky cloudless, but by the time we got here, we were right in the midst of the low cloud.
As we didnt' set out until just before 7pm, the lower gate was closed, so we walked all the way up from Aston Fitchett Dr, taking the Sanctuary fenceline to the carpark, then taking the West arm of the Te Kopahou Loop to this cache, before backtracking and taking the Eastern arm of the loop as far as Boundary Issues. Too far to complete the whole loop at this time of night. Started at 18:55hrs, returning to the car at 23:52hrs, having walked 18.2km and found 5 caches, including 2 FTFs.
