We had some pretty big plans for today but there was also some pretty bad weather intent on stopping us. We didn't manage to spot this one even though the coords and hint were both good. We checked the likely spots but this one was too clever for us. Cheers G-2.
Been planning on this road trip for ages and finally got there today. Nice early start and beautiful sunshine all day Another gorgeous view TFTC
Good short walk from the car park pretty easy to find and lots of trinkets inside
Away in the camper and spending our last night at Opoutere because there are caches to be found here. Headed off to do this one first because it was the closest. Mr S found before Mrs S even arrived. She kept stopping to talk to the fantails. Lol.
Thanks G-2.
Thanks G-2.
We parked our camper van at the start of this short trail and went on a short walk before dinner. Thanks for placing all these caches. Greetings from Switzerland.
On a lil mish from Tauranga today with Grandies in tow as they are on school holidays. A bit overcast but nice mild temp. A fabulous place for a cache. I am logging these with a generic template on Cachly. Many Thanks to all cache owners for the placements. Cheers
Everything in order and nice and dry. No pencil tho so byop. Still and quiet here .... beautiful!!
Seems like the olden days when everyone went out for the traditional Sunday drive. This is both a sightseeing and caching expedition This was an interesting little side excursion TFTC G-2
While I was here I made a quick find on this one too. I think by now, G2 is leading my stats for highest number of finds from one CO. Have enjoyed them all.
Thanks for bringing me here to a really nice place I haven't discovered before and Tftc.

Spent a couple hours on this lovely beach. Then checked if there was a geocache when we got back to the car. There was!

Cache number 3324. After completing the circuit around the sand I was heading back to my car along the road when I noticed this one. Once I found the track it was a nice flat walk. At GZ the cache was found immediately. Then signed and returned. I then stood there and considered what the view would be like if the tide had been in. Thank you for the placement.
Third of my Opoutere DNF's today. It was pretty wet underfoot so my search was not conclusive. But again, co-ords and hint objects were there, so perhaps the damp curtailed my efforts. Lovely spot though -
I should have come here yesterday when the sun was shining!

Went with Disfordinausour and J-Bone out for some caches during our stay in beautiful Opoutere. Were first confused where the cache is supposed to be but it becomes very clear if you approach from the car park... Thanks for hiding!
What a great spot you have brought us to greetings from the UK Tftc the view and the smell would be improved if the tide was in
Woke up early to lovely views this morning, after overnighting on the foreshore at Whangamata. Time to head north to find caches along the way to Pauanui and Tairua. Neither of us has travelled this part of the country before, so it was all new to us. After visiting the peninsula lookout spot to the north of Whanga our next detour was to Opoutere.
Not #1 for us. We had already completed the loop walk before we went to the other end of the carpark to find the trail to this one. Getting a wee bit overgrown at the far end, but the GPS showed us the way. Good views from here, thanks.

Last one of the opoutere forest caches that we found. Never been on this track before. Quite out of the way.

Today, on a nice spring day, we have made a short but very pleasant 6 km walk along 10 caches in the Opoutere area. All caches were found.
Our big thanks to **G--2** for bringing us to all the interesting places.
*The first one today was not the easiest one, when found the GPS was still pointing a few meters to the left while it's questionable where 'the end of the path' is; the view is making the trip worthwhile.*

Last day of our stay at Opoutere. Have to get the last caches here. Weather better today. Hope to dry out. Thanks for the cache G-2.
Nice hide..could not go to much futher without getting wet lol..thanks for a great cache
This one took us a while due to many flax like bushes, but we still found it. Tftc
#11428. Just time for a couple of short walks (would have been nice to have gone all the way to the coast). TFTC.
Today we are leaving Whitianga and are heading to Waihi. As it's not a long journey, we had a few stop offs en route, including a bike ride around Whangamata. With the long weekend over, the traffic volume was less than what we had been experiencing, thank goodness!
Bit of a drop off near GZ. Didn't take long to find the cache - the pink coloured lid helped! Right beside the cache was a multi coloured ball which I left, maybe it was a swap which didn't fit in? Took a TB. TFTC.

Fabulous day up to now, weather is really overcast and therefore nice n' coooll! So now, we have parked up here in the carpark, we're doing this cache and as many as we can before it gets dark and probably after! Rusty sails on ahead of us here, I catch up admiring a peach tree (or nectarine) on the way, quite a random spot for this tree!! I arrived at the cache just as it was being signed! So that was alright I suppose. Then back at the carpark we said hello to a guy sitting outside his bus having a beer. A beer!! whoo that would go down well about now... hmmmm, Concentrate Gorby, concentrate... there are more caches to be had.
Its been a long day, but gorby, supernanny and myself are keen to look for some more caches whilst we still have daylight.
We park at the board walk, but walk back to this point, to look for the cache. Supernanny quickly finds the cache, and we are on our way. Beautiful place to visit, will need to return with rebel98

Made this cache on our 4 weeks honeymoon through New Zealand. So many great places to see in this beautiful country.
On the 19th day of travelling with our campervan we drove from Tauranga to Hot Water Beach. On the way we stopped at Opoutere wildlife refuge for a walk and some geocaching. Nice area. We didn't make the full round loop because the entrance to the one side was closed due tree falls. This cache we found.
Greetings from Germany

Mr P and I had noticed the cluster of caches in this area so thought we would treat ourselves with a treasure trove of finds... this one was the first and a delight. +TB
11.15am - Ummh left or right? Soon spotted a good spot and sure enough cache in hand. SLTFTC
Another mini raid in Coromandel to find caches for our latest license challenge... With Gap (of Fap and Gap).
There were a few people preparing to walk the tracks when we arrived. They seemed far too preoccupied to notice our escapades, and we were in and out of ground zone without drawing any attention... A quick find here. TFTC.

Together with Sporty-Ron and Knobelboy we made the loop hike along all the caches and found a couple of them within the time limit we set ourselves for the search.
This first one was an appetizer before the hike.
The Cache-Knobis from Muenster in Germany say TFTC (#3150 @ 14:50).

Great hide! It's impressive that the logbook has been there since 2012 and is still in such good condition. Junior was fascinated by the possum that had recently become a victim of the nearby trap. Tftc!
Tftc. We found this one after completing the full opoutere loop walk today, before hopping in the ccar to head home. Kids were fascinated by a dead possum that we discovered en route to this cache.
Had a great time chasing possum in dark and then scaring one and other. Great find though
Nice hide tftc

Nice easy find to start off the day. So glad there are some here at our beloved holiday spot!!
I did a quick detour down to this cache from the car park before heading to the beach with the family. Took a minute or two to find. The view was great today. I had planned to drop some TB's I have collected here today but realised I had left them at home (not for the first time in the last few days).
Last cache of our holiday and what an adventure. Tried the high road and turned back. Then went across the mangroves.... path? what path?
Got to below the cache and retraced steps. Finally cache in hand and quick pic of the view.
Thanks for the fun!

After coming here for 15 yrs I never knew this short walk existed. Lovely lookout point
1st w'end for months without any scheduled kids' sports, good weather & a great chance to get out of town. We only discovered this place (thanks Glyn!) when geocaching last summer & it's quickly become a fav walk when we're over this way. The family knows my caching style only too well (ie nice places with caches over-ride nice places without caches lol) & vetoed a cache clean-out of the area back then. So here we are yet again; another visit, another cache, & still some more to find! 'Til next time, thanks for the awesome hides Glyn
Despite the rain, we piled into the car with wet weather gear, dry clothes and our picnic as we had decided to clean out Opoutere today. As we sat in the car park debating our sanity and wondering if we could do a few and get back in time for the afternoon session at the movies, the skies suddenly cleared. We decided we didn't need the umbrella after all (good way to keep phone and log dry).
What a lovely spot this is! Neither of us has been here before, although my son came here on a school camp almost twenty years ago.
Thanks to the very specific hints on this trail, the caches are all straightforward finds. We like that in this situation because we are really out for the walk and the environment, not for the challenge.
Thanks for bringing us here. We'll give this one and another favs as representatives for this trail.

On great tour with Lemmer in New Zealnd we foundamazing spots. Thanks for all of it. Flatrate
On the other side of the world we had an amazing experience while traveling New Zealand. Great impressions, lovely places and nice geocaches all over. Thanks for inventing and hiding. Lemmer
Having replenished my water supply after climbing the hill, I was off for a walk in the pines. Couldn't see Mike-misses car, they must have been quick getting around, had only taken me 50mins to the top and back and I'd passed them along the way. Nice quick find and great view. TFTC
The shade of the pines looked very refreshing after a hot walk in the sun so we watered up and headed on in to nab these caches.
Headed over to Opoutere after the Campout with 11hpg11 for a few more caches. The decision was made to park here and head on up to the Summit before tackling the point caches. Turned out to be a very wise decision as it was a scorching hot day and appreciated the shade of the pines for the final leg.
This was our first stop and the cache was quickly found. Dropped in TB for moving along. TFTC!

Continuing our great kiwi adventure honeymoon all the way from England! Back at Granddad's in Opoutere for the last 2 days and so another chance to do this walk: this time with a working GPS! As I approached this one I was worried it was going to be underwater thanks to the huge King Tides that day, but was pleased to find that it was on higher ground than the GPS initially suggested. A quick find once I'd realised that I wasn't actually at the end of the path when I'd thought I was... TFTC
Nearly overshot for an unplanned dip! Definitely watch your step. Nice start to walk though
First find of the new year. A couple of DNFs then slipped away for a quick find before leaving the car park. TFTC.
Found with Muggle Buddy on a sweep of the beach & surrounds. TFTC. Picked up Le Footballeur(Geokret).
Un 'Géokret' [Le Footballeur / Reference Number: GK926B] a été déposé par ma fille, sur cette cache.
Enjoy it ! -=> 'Novalee' <=-
