No luck here. A lot of trees have come down in the area plus a bit of land has slipped away.
Had a good look here, but as per previous post, I feel it may have been a victim of the recent storms.
Thanks for putting in great hints. Made the find a lot easier in the bush.
Was invited to spend some time at the Opoutere campsite with the Winstone family, who have been coming to the campsite for the past 20 years!
Decided to take the kids out and to do some geocaching. They had never been, and really enjoyed it.

Continuing my wander around the trail this afternoon, not even going to worry about the large dead trees above, I figure a moving target is harder to hit, and so it was a quick find here, cheers
This is a beautiful little spot. It was very peaceful this afternoon.
No problems finding the cache.

The second find before we stopped for lunch and nicely out of sight of the main track. I even located an IP address nearby, which was a relief.
Off out for the day to Pauanui and other nearby areas as the weather forecast for tomorrow doesn't look too flash. We found a 'few' caches by a certain North Island CO, which was to be expected due to the prolific regional placements. Guess we can see where he likes to vacation in Jan each year?
I have got a busy few days coming up, and am heading north to the Coromandel peninsula for the weekend with a work holiday home booked for this upcoming long weekend, including stat day on Monday. Then I'm heading home with mrs c for a couple of days leave followed by a couple of days WFH before heading back to Manawatu and my new work area at the weekend. Not massive numbers of cache finds but a few to keep things ticking over and a surprising amount by Auckland based COs too! Thanks to all cache owners for their contributions.

Looks as if it had been washed away found a pencil though sad to not have found it thanks g_2
I was serenaded by a pair of tuis who were sitting up the top of the tree I found the cache under as I signed the log. Nothing nicer than only being able to hear birdsong and surf, pure bliss
Oh my gosh - note to self: read instructions properly!!! Scary moment there but found and all good. Tftc
Stealth was required here as a family of muggles were on the beach nearby but we soon located the cache without raising any suspicion.
Our last find on this loop track and we enjoyed the very peaceful and pleasant walk and beautiful beach.

Stopped off at Pine Tree Point to snag and tag this one. Cheers.
Day 12 - Tuesday 29 December - Whangamata - Opoutere - Onemana and back to Whangamata today. Some local beaches to explore so lets go!
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

Okay... so why have some trees been poisoned and not others? The dragon thinks that it might be to only close one track at a time, a nice idea, but that assumes all the trees along that track have been poisoned - that is not the case.
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

We failed to find this one on our camping trip last year. This year, I realised we were looking too far away from the beach, and made a quick find after walking through the "dangerous trees"! Thanks!
A nice shady diversion and quickly found thanks to good coordinates and a detailed hint. This lovely walking circuit now completed with a full set of smileys
Felt a bit suspicious ducking off into the bushes, especially when people were passing by. Fairly easy find once we'd gone further enough in.
Spending the long weekend in Whangamata for some Kayaking and Tramping. Arrived today and enjoyed my walk around the area collecting geocaches. TFTC
Having spent a great day cycling and caching in Pauanui, we thought we'd make as much use of the good winter weather as we could. Opoutere looked enticing for a late afternoon caching adventure, and so it turned out to be as we bravely negotiated the dangerous trees in the ever increasing shadows. Woooh Hoooh! Watch out for your head here if you are wearing a peak hat. Easy find here as the cache was lying out on the ground. Carefully replaced as per hint. Cache all good. TFTC
Been planning on this road trip for ages and finally got there today. Nice early start and beautiful sunshine all day Track is closed but I decided to run the gauntlet as such good weather and no wind to blow branches down. Glad I did as it is a lovely walk and all caches are good. Nice little walk on the beach TFTC
After finding this one went down and played on the rope swing hanging from the pohutukawa. Enjoying the nice easy track.
We made this short walk in the pine wood and stiil can not understand, why this way is closed. Deadly pine trees ?? instead this way is really relaxing. No people around and a few caches on the way. TFTC
What to do before leaving the campground? Go and get as many caches as you could before 10am. We got in to a little hurry but managed to find a few.

Staying the night in the reserve. On our way around the track picking up all the caches, we hope. Arrived at GZ and began looking. With no hint that made the job a bit difficult as there were lots of places to check. Finally Mr S saw something and declared...ha that’ll be it and it was. Singed and replaced and on to the next one.
Thanks G-2. Another smilie on the track.
Thanks G-2. Another smilie on the track.
We parked our camper van at the start of this short trail and went on a short walk before dinner. Thanks for placing all these caches. Greetings from Switzerland.
On a lil mish from Tauranga today with Grandies in tow as they are on school holidays. A bit overcast but nice mild temp. A fabulous place for a cache. I am logging these with a generic template on Cachly. Many Thanks to all cache owners for the placements. Cheers
Cache number 3322. I was following the track back and while doing so I read the description etc. When I had the opportunity to get to sea level I did. Once at GZ there were plenty of footprints. Had a search from down below but no luck. Then it was a change in level and there it was exactly as per hint. Thanks for the placement
Struggled to find the way in but found the cacher's trail out. Decided to save the others for tomorrow as we like this place so much. Back to campervanat the reserve. Thanks CBE
Woke up early to lovely views this morning, after overnighting on the foreshore at Whangamata. Time to head north to find caches along the way to Pauanui and Tairua. Neither of us has travelled this part of the country before, so it was all new to us. After visiting the peninsula lookout spot to the north of Whanga our next detour was to Opoutere.
This was a lovely little stop-off point. No problems locating the cache using the hint, thanks.

I wasn't sure how to approach this cache so I just ducked and weaved in and soon found it. Cheers G-2, TFTC.

The rain has really set in. Another quick find. Looks like a good fishing spot here. Thanks for the cache
Continuing our walkalong the neat bush track and soon had the cache in hand..what a great out look from here thanks for a great cache
Another great Highlight on my NZ trip! On the map Opoutere looked like a quite and lovely place and so I decided to visit it and have a short stroll near the seaside. That was perfect! It was exactly what I had expected and so I had a very, very nice walk here and also could find some very, very nice Caches. Really a beautifull landscape.
Thank you so much for showing me this nice place and for the caches. I spend some favorite Points here.

It is crazy how big the roots of these trees can get. We wondered how old they are?! Tftc
If I remember correctly, this cache was out in the open, if it wasn't then my memory is shot to pieces. So just disregard these comments just in case.... safer that way... I happen to remember rusty and supernanny with me! We're having a good time.
We had to get a move on at this point , cos it is getting a bit dark ! Luckily Gorby had the foresight to bring a good headlight ,,,,,rusty and I didn't have ours as we were all in one car ,
Quick find due to good hint !

With gorby and supernanny making our way round the point whilst we have daylight! Of course it always gets darker when you are under tree cover
A quick find, log signed and we are on our way. Thanks for the hide and bringing us to this place - I suspect we won't find them all tonight, save something for another day!

Lekiprokos's team (aka Ninalila & fefe.adrien) decided to visit Opoutere beach.
Geocaching allowed us to do a nice walk in the forest, along the mangrove swamp.

1.25pm - GPS a little all over the place due to the tree coverage. After reading hint made a quick find. SLTFTC
Another mini raid in Coromandel to find caches for our latest license challenge... With Gap (of Fap and Gap).
A great little vantage point to look at the outgoing tide... The hints given for this hide helped to speed things up, and Gap had this one in hand for us quickly. TFTC.

Found it on a cool, calm night caching adventure of five of G-2's Bodyguard caches. GPS was completely off on this one, spent a good 15 minutes searching in the chilly night air before we finally found this last cache of our first night caching experience. TFTC!
Junior enjoyed finding a track to and from this one. We're enjoying this stunning place. Tftc
Tftc. This one was an easy find today. What a beautiful part of the country this is. Thanks for bringing us here.

My wife took the opportunity to find this cache while I took our two boys back to the car. Its a lovely spot. She found the description really helpful. TFTC.
Second one on the forest loop. Walked down to the beach then realised it was back up near where I was to start with!
