Day trip to Whanga from our camping base at Waihi Beach.Numerous new caches since last visit so let's see how many we can find.Rain was getting heavier now so lucky the cache found straight away. Very friendly fantails here TFTC.
Carpark was muddy & puddly so parked the car 1m from this GZ. Didnt connect with the hint until the penny dropped. Cache was really jammed in so took plenty of effort to get it out. [TFTC]
It took a few seconds to connect the cache name to the hide. The cache was jammed in and took a little effort to get out so we could sign the log
Adventurous drive out here with the road condition being poor, especially in a Suzuki swiftPlenty of surfers and swimmers out and a nice day, nice spot for a cache Cheers
495. Want an awesome drive out here. It was a little bit of a challenge. Awesome view. Nice quick easy find. TFTC
What an adventure with kimbathelion. Cache didn’t want to come out initially, but when it did, ants in tow. Tftc
We were staying at Onemana & I convinced the girls that we needed an adventure. So we set off & some of the puddles had the car disappearing. We got to the forestry sign saying No Admittance. Umm what shall we do, & two young lads turned up & told us it was all good to continue. Track wasn't made for our little car but we carried on. Got to the carpark & found a likely spot but cache was wedged in. Eventually we got it out, disturbing the ants nest. Cache signed & off to check out the view. Local lads were full of info. Tftc
30 years ago Mrs Coblet and family scattered her grandparents ashes here, and have tried to visit again over the years but forgot exactly where it is.
Their former home in Whanga has been released as a rental by the new owners so we’re staying in the very same house. How cool!
While walking on the beach this morning we looked over at the hill and checked for caches. Well waddya know - there’s a cache there and it sounds very much like the long lost location.
So we cranked up the trusty Toyota and bumped our way to GZ where we were pleased to confirm it is indeed the location we have been searching for.
The trees have obscured the view bit but it gave us closure finally reclaiming the knowledge of their final resting place.
Oh, and we found the cache as well.
Thanks for a memorable adventure and for helping to solve a family mystery.

Nobody here today, I guess the lack of visibility and persistent drizzle might have been a deterrent. Quickly spotted with the clear title, TFTC
Whilst mrs c changed her footwear I headed here and soon had the cache in hand, signed and replaced.
A dreary, drizzly day today so not much planned except a couple of short excursions and chill out at the house. We did head out in the morning past Onemana to the forest lookout at the end and that was nice, though damp. Thanks to all CO for his hides.
I have got a busy few days coming up, and am heading north to the Coromandel peninsula for the weekend with a work holiday home booked for this upcoming long weekend, including stat day on Monday. Then I'm heading home with mrs c for a couple of days leave followed by a couple of days WFH before heading back to Manawatu and my new work area at the weekend. Not massive numbers of cache finds but a few to keep things ticking over and a surprising amount by Auckland based COs too! Thanks to all cache owners for their contributions.

Cache was tightly wedged and difficult to dislodge but got there eventually. Had to mind an army of ants that we disturbed! TFTC
Wow, such a beautiful view! Thanks for leading me up here by placing this geocache. All in good order . Happy new year!
Now down to the end of this peninsular to check out the short wave. Quick snag and tag. Cheers.
Day 12 - Tuesday 29 December - Whangamata - Opoutere - Onemana and back to Whangamata today. Some local beaches to explore so lets go!
The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

Gave a short wave and found the cache! Like that the CO is using a anti-narrow neck device - he obviously knows why it is needed (unlike so many other COs)
Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

For an out-of-the-way spot there were too many muggles for a decent search. Great views, though.
Found while on my Christmas holidays in Pauanui with Tramyard. Beautiful place. Thanks for the cache
Find number 5618. The power company was doing work near my house so the power was to be disconnected most of the day. So I decided to go caching. I have looked at this from Whanga so many times but have never ventured over. Had time today so I tackled the road. It was rough in places but able to be driven in a normal street car. After venturing down to the other cache I made my way to this one. Another quick find. Thank you for the placement.
Number two cache and 87 year old mumma right into it. Located the geocache path and the metal strip shortly thereafter...she’s losing height rapidly but luckily still looks skyward.
Lovely drive through the forest and luckily could pick up without anyone seeing. TFTC
On a day trip caching with Richard up at Onemana. Lots of walking and seeing some beautiful beaches and bays. A few good downs and of course ups. Thanks to the COs for some great caches and for Ri hard taking me as I am not sure whether my Suzuki would have liked some of those roads TFTC
After the long drive down a narrow gravel road we were surprised to find two other cars here. A quick search and the container was found. We took some photos standing on the rickety picnic table before completing the short loop track.
Easy find after we read the name. Word meant two things. Camped pretty well. TFTC
Driving around the North Island for a camping and climbing holiday. Collecting caches along the way and seeing some amazing scenery. Thanks.
Last time I tried this 2 yrs ago it was a dnf as it was missing. Quick find today. Very peaceful spot with no one around. Tftc
This was a last minute planned trip for just the morning to try and get a few numbers for the latest bl**dy souviner challange by Groundspeak. Started the morning in Pauanui and working my way south towards Whangamata
It had been a long time since I travelled this road and so collecting the remenants along here only seemed appropriate. For some reason I had always bypassed this area but as today time was on my side it was great to take the drive down to the point and pick up these caches. Having returned from the Look-Out this was a quick find before heading back along the point
Thanks for the placement, Thanks for the cache

We decided to find the two at the end before tackling the track up to Te Ananui carpark. Not much of a view here, but must have been fantastic before the trees grew. Headed in and looked up and understood the hint - ha ha very clever. All OK here. Thanks G-2 for bringing us here!
Arrived. At GZ and soon had the cache in hand thanks to the well formed geo trail cache all good signed and returned ....what a wonderful vista from this place and amazing the number of boats out today ...thanks G2 for another great cache
On a trip with TNXPro to clear a little bit more of the Coromandel. We'd finished the Broken Hills yesterday and Mt Pauanui this morning so I was looking forward to some park and grabs. Once at GZ the name became all too clear. Some interesting additions to the antenna can also be seen if you look closely enough. The cache was found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords and a straight forward hint. Cheers G-2, TFTC
Naturally, we needed to clear out this area of caches too, so were glad for this quick easy one.

Today I drove from Panganui to Tauranga. A pleasant drive with some nice views and caches on the way. TFTC!
We were over for the Beach Hop and I managed to persuade my husband to come down Peninsula Rd to go for a couple of walks. This one was quickly found, and then we were on to Te Ananui, TFTC
Woke up early to lovely views this morning, after overnighting on the foreshore at Whangamata. Time to head north to find caches along the way to Pauanui and Tairua.
First we took the turnoff to Onemana and then back along the peninsula's forestry road. After picking up a couple of the Te Ananui caches we drove on to the end of the road. Hadn't known quite what to expect here, but all very quickly became clear. Time to check out the view. . .

I gave the lookout a short wave and then signed the log and got ready to head home... with a few caches on the way.
This cache was irresistible and we couldn't come all this way and not find it. Nice quick find here and then back up the peninsula to find a couple more before the drive back to Auckland. TFTC
A quick find, yay another smiley We didn't expect to have enough time to get the ananui caches as well, but seeing as these 2 were quick finds it made it doable to get the ananui ones too. TFTC
Awesome. Tftc! Yodabeach beat me to this one as well. I blame my body, its not allowing me to move as fast as usual today. But im enjoying getting out and about, and these caches provided great enticement!
Good clue. Nice quick hide, you have some fabulous hides, well done on them all. Have really enjoyed the mix. TFTC
On the road again with Gap (of Fap and Gap)... It's Valentine's Day and we are chasing down caches around the Whangamata area. Someone has been busily planting new hides here...
This is our second time at this end of the peninsula. Last time we came out here, this one was missing. Today, it was easy to spot what wasn't here previously, so this was a quick find for us today. We heard big booming voices coming from below and we thought others were in the nearby bush. A bit of investigating and it turns out that the voices were coming from the harbor... Loud much. TFTC.

3.30pm - Got it this time, missing on previous visit. Thanks for replacing cache. SLTFTC
Had a jolly good look but no luck with this one. Nice play on words with the name though!
Understood the hint and searched around GZ for a while but no luck. Went for a walk then tried again on my return but no luck
# 931 one of 100+ and we also placed 5 caches in NZ this trip as a thank you to the NZ Cachers that made this trip so enjoyable.
We are over the ditch for 18 days, with the goal of achieving our 1000 milestone at East Cape, which will give us our Most Easterly Find as well, 4* east of our current one.
Sorry about the delay in logging, no access to a computer, had to wait until we are home in Qld.
We are staying in Onemana with the Brother inlaw and family in his rented Batch and using it as the base for a few days, before heading out to the East Cape.
This one took a bit of searching, GPS was going in circles and I love these hides
An easy in the end
All with the cache.

Found it! Great camo, but scratched up from the bushwhacking recommend trousers!
Appreciate the container. Nice location. Quick find today. Enjoyed looking for this, thanks.
Wondrous views from the car park after a teeth rattling drive. Good hide here, found easily. TFTC
A bone rattling drive to this one. I think there was a reason why all the other vehicles we saw were four wheel drives. I know we passed others on the way here, we'll collect them on the return journey.
Clever name, clever hide and clever camo. We just added a PB for the log and a bit of swag. A fav from us.
Oh, did we mention the views? Thanks for bringing us here.

At an event I mentioned that I would like to find around ~150 geocaches during the weekend to be able to award my 5000 find to a special geocache in the states. YuGeo4 & yorkshirekiwi83 were more than happy to help me out overachieving this goal on Saturday. We met up early morning at 5:30am and started driving in the direction of Thames to tackle the Pony Express Power trail. We continued our drive to Waihi via Whangamata back to Auckland collecting drive by geocaches. Thanks YuGeo4 & yorkshirekiwi83 for an awesome day out geocaching!! Signed logs as "YAY"....
Quick find after indentifieng the hint in the titel. TFTC

And indeed it did….. nicely camoed in the obvious spot, log signed as YAY (found with alpenmilch80 and yorkshirekiwi83) to save space and time, gave another short wave as we left, TFTC.
YeoGeo4, Alpenmilch80 and I met to head to the Coromandel and then Whangamata to hit as many caches as possible, in a fun filled day with great company we far exceeded our expectations of how many we would find.
What great views from up here, and a surprisingly large cache for its location. Thanks for the cache, signed as team YAY and we had a quick find.
