Found one so I thought I’d find the next one. Great to see this patch of bush being preserved.
Second find for the day. Such a pretty box. Wrote our names in the book. Smith girls, school holiday treasure hunting.
Didn't expect it to look like that! Great find for the kids, heaps of room to leave something behind, bit of a treasure chest in there . GPS is very spotty under the heavy canopy.
The hint is the most helpful here. GPS, not so much. Enjoyed wandering around and spotted it after regrouping. A lovely time spent in the bush!
.And Im still off the beaten track to get to Greys Bush #5. Wandering all over to get close to GZ. This one took absolutely ages wandering all over in widening circles from GZ to over 17m before finally tracking this elusive one down to tag. Cheers
New milestone with my 9000th find today
Day 14, Wednesday 2 February - Gisborne - Tolaga Bay - Anaura Bay - Omanuka Bay - then the back road from Togaga Bay to Gisborne on a TMGT hunt for the day. Stopping off at Grays Bush on our way back to Zara. Come on Lenny and Toby lets get moving!
Zara, Toby, Lenny and I are on our North Island expidition for a couple of weeks. Got The Seagnoid along for the first 4 days, heading to the Auckland Mega. PWGTs and TMGTs are on the radar for this trip. Lots of driving on gravel roads and visited lots of amazing places on our 6000km road trip snagging 200+ caches along the way. Visiting Cape Reinga, Bay of Islands, Gisborne and White Rock along our journey. The highlight cache for the trip was GC815zh Journey to Pandora (night cache in Ack) Another awesome trip. Thanks to all CO's.

Impressive trees in this lovely block of lowland forest. quite a distance from a trail but easy enough as the undergrowth is still very open. Cache in very good condition. Love having a decent size container when in a quiet bush location. tftc
This one was so hard tp find but after following the coordinates we found it and it was so obvious.
I have spent the last half hour getting more bamboozled by the minute as my GPS was on a wander and wouldn't zero in on the hide. Would you believe that as I sit here writing it tells me consistently that I'm 2m away. Not helpful now!
Quite a few choices but when we followed gps went straight to it-thanks for the adventure
One of 12 located in the Gisborne area on the last day of our Labour Weekend stayover. Managed to find all four in Gray’s Bush. After trekking a considerable distance “cross country” to get to this one, we spotted it reasonably quickly. #2814. TFTC.
Today I decided to go a drive out to the west of Gisborne seeing that it was a fine day but the nasty weather was forcasted to come in a bit later.
I had a nice wander amongst the trees here.
Cheers for the cache.

This had been a planned trip in the company of HKCB to Whangarei but as the weather wasn't the best in the north we thought we would bring this trip forward and head over here to see what we could locate as neither of us had done a whole lot around this area.
Leaving home 7pm Friday evening and returning by midnite Saturday, 954kms travelled and approx. 70 caches located along with about 8 DNF's.
Thanks to all the CO's whom have put out these caches for us and completing the maintenance to keep them going.
Starting the long journey home and a final few caches as we head out of town and hopefully before the rain catches us. What a great day we have had in the area but have left enough for a return visit at a later date. A wedding party was taking photos in the entrance to the park and we smelled bad by this time, but after working our way to GZ the cache was quickly located.
Thank you for the placement, thanks for the cache.

This weekend had been booked into headed to Whangarei with Cats&Dragons for a bit of caching, but as the weather wasn't looking flash at all, so we decided to head East instead to Gisbourne as we both hadn't done much caching in te area. Leave home about 7pm Friday, and returning home midnight Saturday meant we got a fair bit of caching time in for the limited time we had. All up we found just under 70 caches in total, so a big thanks for all the CO's for placing and maintaining the caches we found on this trip.
Gate crashed a wedding party taking photos at the carpark, but we politely avoided them a headed off into the bush. It was great to be back "Bush Bashing" (it's been a while since I have done it), though this bush is nice and opened compared to the usual places I go. A bit of a hunt at GZ but no real issues with the find. Thanks for the hide.

One week off during school holiday time, combined with some cheap flights made a great adventure in the HB and Gisborne area, popping into BoP a couple of times also. I had great fun and I am grateful to all CO's who placed the caches for others' entertainment!!

We are spending a couple of nights in Gisborne, after making a spur of the moment decision to get the FTF on the new Virtual, and to collect the CANZ Gisborne cache. Having achieved those goals, we set about finding some more caches. We recall visiting and enjoying a walk in Gray's bush for a cache on our first visit to Gisborne years ago. So we were quite happy to make a return visit. Especially for three quite high terrain caches. After eventually finding the Pay Back Tree, and then more easily finding Off the Beaten Track, of course we carried on to this one. For much of the way the bush was easy enough to navigate through. We were not sure exactly what feature we were looking for, and near GZ we thought it might have been something obvious we initially searched. Then we read the hint and expanded our search to other places. But still no container - how hard can it be to find an ammo can here! Then we let the GPS rather that our eyes be the guide, and very quickly after that one of us spied what we were looking for. Very happy to have found these 3 caches. Many thanks.
Decided that since I had an extra day off work I would come up to Gisborne and visit family as I was in the Hawkes Bay for work and it wasnt too far to travel the extra distance and it also gave me the chance to pick up a few caches in this lovely community.
After finding GC3AK1M - Off the beaten track (Gisborne), I decided that since I was in the area I might as well go and find the other cache that is in this part of Greys Bush Scenic reserve. As I was now in the middle of nowhere I knew that this cache wasnt too far away as the crow flies.
Finally after a bit of a walk I finally made it to GZ and it only took a few seconds before I soon spotted something that required a closer look, as I got closer I soon realised that this was the cache, managed to retrieve it without any issues signed and then replaced it back as found.
Thanks nzkeko for placing this cache here and for bringing me to this spot, TFTC TNLNSL (13172), Now it is time to find my way back to the main track and head back to the car.

Searched for quite a while. About to give up and there was the cache. Can't understand how we didn't see it earlier.
In Gisborne for the North Island daffodil show. Sunday morning drive out in country to find some caches. Enjoyed the walk in this bush. Took a while to find. Thanks nzkeko for the cache.

proč je proboha na takovém místě, kde musím všechno pošlapat, abych se k ní dostal?!

There's too much intertwined stuff here. After making my way through this much shrubbery, I'd kinda have expected an easier find, or at the very least a more helpful hint.

A tricky cache to find due to the tree cover reducing GPS accuracy. Found with The Shirelings. TFTC
GPS a bit erratic due to tree cover but we managed to track this one down eventually.
Always nice to see one of these containers used for cache purposes.
Found with Barnard Star.
Worthy of a favourite point.

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)... After five months of grief, it's time for another serious attack on our current caching license. We're heading east to target seven high difficulty caches, and anything else that catches our attention...
Rain was falling heavily as we ventured into the bush. It was surprisingly sheltered among the trees though. We scrambled off track, through the undergrowth, picking the easiest pathways and clearings. It felt like a long time before we arrived. The iPhone gps was quite unhelpful under the trees. We tried to make sense of the hints, but nothing made stood out... We read a few logs and a clue emerged. Scanning the location, we spotted a reference point. We found this one soon after. TFTC.
The journey out took far less time. We were drawn back to the path by a passing group of pirates on a 'treasure finding' quest... Snap!

We searched for ages and then finally found an area we realised was GZ. I was actually on a business call at the time, (sort of bizarre), but Steed found it. Full of good swag, so I did a bit of swapping. So good to see a trad ammo can. A fav from us. Saw this neat fungus near GZ.
Deliberately sought out this cache, as a new short stay home for a TB that has been in one cache for 10 years!! Hoping the next visitor will help to move it around and along so its owner will know it is being well looked after. Thanks to all in advance and TFTC. Didn't quite fall over it as did others, but the GPS was pretty spot on
This one was a bit further into the bush than others, but it was surprising easy going – as mentioned in our other Grays Bush logs today, there was a gale force wind blowing over the top of the trees, but it was sheltered down on the ground – other than the odd bit of debris coming down. Approaching GZ came closer to the edge of the forest though, and more wind came through, complete with loose stuff.
Got to GZ on the GPS, and could not really identify the interesting feature mentioned in the cache notes, so started searching for a likely hidey hole suitable for an ammo can.
After a short search the very interestingly cammo painted can was located, and on checking was within 5 metres of the waypoint on our Montana GPS, so this is another where the best advice is to trust the technology.
It was really great to find a REAL cache – and ammo can…..

Much like the other logs for this one, My GPS was steering me everywhere but in the right direction. Retraced my track, then when I was just about to give up, I nearly tripped over the silly thing. Tick off my first Ammo Box Cache. TFTC
GPS was all over the place so a search grid was coordinated using triangulated magnetic compass bearings from known reference points and after working our way through the topography and a bl@@dy long time looking under, over, around and in every nook and crevice we accidentally tripped over the cache container on the walk out after swearing that we would never try to look for this cache again! So very pleased with ourselves to log this cache. TFTC cheers SiLiRy
On checking the gps track after leaving here found we circled it in ever decreasing circles...looked for ages, and when we eventually found it, it was one of those 'why didn't we see that before?' moments. But all fun nevertheless. Thanks.

It was a bit of a trek to locate this one, nice to grab another cache in Grays Bush under the shade of the tree canopy. Quick grab after performing some maintenance on Grays Bush Number #1. TFTC.

It's really raining hard now and am trying to get the technology working without saturating the delicate electronics. I tucked the iPhone away in a waterproof bag and dragged out the new Etrex 30. A very satisfied customer thank you Mr Garmin. Tracked the container down so well that I got a proximity alarm and then promptly tripped over it. No need for a field search on this one. Container and log nice and dry, which is more than I can say about me. TFTC
Thank you for such a challenging hunt must have walked passed it a number of times, but with a little help from the geocaching guru finally nailed it thanks again nzkeko.
GPS had us going round in circles but narrowed down to a general area. Clearly we couldnt get the clues and were looking for a gnarly tree. One we stumbled accross something that didn't look like it fitted, we had got it. Love the paint job. GPS was 10 meters of when at GZ. Left Swiss bottle opener just to say I was here. TFTC.

Took a bit longer to locate this one, the GPS was all over the show. Re-read the cache page and then located the natural feature and the tell tale signs of caching! TFTC

Call in to day as the wall are closeing in again very wet under foot getting to the cache and picked up the other cache in grays Bush, the cache is all in good order thanks for the walk
A pleasant stroll, in a beautiful piece of native bush, with the Taybee Team. TFTC
was a easy found when we got to GZ was in two mind about doing this one as it was way off Track TFTC
FTF on 2nd turn around to find it - GPS far off and all over the place on 1st go so after an hour of searching, gave up and went to find another cache in the bush, then with better readings. Have to admit not what I was expecting to find, but such a generous cache with lots of interesting goodies
Thank you for the FTF prize, a first for me and a nice size to drop in little caches
Will return with hubby and drop coin or Tb later,
TFTC, an enjoyable challenge
Cheers
