Had a good look in the obvious, and not so obvious, spots, but no luck today.
Unsuccessful, had a good look around the area but there is a newly chopped tree that may have been placed where the cache is.
We had been planning a big caching day in South Taranaki for Saturday 28 April, but with bad weather looming had decided to postpone that. Nevertheless there was a new and special cache just north of Wanganui that we still wanted to complete. Today was a lovely autumn day so off we went to do it and we naturally had a few other caches to seek too. We were mostly successful and enjoyed our day out.
We left Brunswick Road and headed to the railway station that isn't anymore and indeed it seemed that way about the cache too for quite some time!
The co-ords were way out, taking us into private property but naturally we didn't go there. We tried many of the usual type of hiding spots all around without success. We checked back on logs - some mentioning needing long arms and having to get over the fence to reach it - yet the cache is accessible from the road according to the page.
We were near giving up when Mrs G thought she noticed a little something, checked and uncovered the cache, within very easy reach beside an old post. Also, it's not actually a micro, but a small sistema box. Clearly this cache has been moving around if it was out of reach for some at times. Is it where it should be now? The co-ords don't suggest that, but we put in a new waterproof logsheet and left the cache where we found it, beside the old post with some leaf litter over it as it is easy to get to. It does need a CO check sometime to ensure it is in its correct position with co-ords that match that. TFTC

Couldn't find this 1. GPS was wayy off cause I couldn't find a thing or any hints that helped
Just going for a drive to kill some time and find some caches. Nice and easy park and grab thanks!
Nice quick find here as we head to new Plymouth for Christmas with the in-laws haven't been this way before thanks for the placement and the quick find farmer was driving his tractor on the other side of the road he was too busy to worry about us tftc
took the wrong road after the mega so taking the long way home and finding some great caches along the way. TFTC
After spending the weekend chasing the third Mission Impossible challenge, attending an event and cleaning out Mowhanau and Ototoko beaches and Bason Gardens it's time to finally head home to New Plymouth.
But I'm sitting on 1098 cache finds, and need a couple more for a well rounded number. Couldn't find the one at the intersection and this one was a small challenge as I had the coordinates out a bit. Got there in the end. All good. TFTC

Found this one just out of hand's reach - hand to jump the fence to get it, oooh sorry moo moos. Rehid it just within hand's reach now
after being on the wrong side of the road it didnt take long to spot, getting the cache was the hard part, arms didnt feel long enough but managed it in the end, didnt have any cars pass us while finding or signing the log. thanks for the placement
Unfortunately did not find however had pretty bad weather here lately wondering if perhaps has moved with the wind and rain
Found this one a little off putting with everyone's finds with this one was looking in completely different area but still happy to sign this one off added a little something to this one as well.
Gps had me looking all over. Had to go into a paddock to get to log so not sure it is in its correct home. Logged and returned to where found.
We started by looking on the wrong side of the road, but once on track, it was quite simple to find...Miss 4 grabbed it for us...tftc
This cache was one of the many caches we found on our 6 day campervan journey from Tauranga to Lower Hutt via Waihi, Cambridge, New Plymouth and along the west coast to Wanganui and back to the Hutt. A mighty and enjoyable journey which took us to many great and iconic parts of the north island and of course some great geocaches. Many thanks to the many CO's for the great cache placements and for bringing us to so many new places. Sorry about the generic log but 200 plus to log. TFTC
Found today with Shellbellz left an angel. Looked in the wrong side for a bit haha
Parked up next to a very cool gate thingy ( the one made from train tracks)
approched the GZ, and spotted it exposed but safe.
Told the young one that I was going to sit this hunt out and that he should take charge again, and off he went, after a quick bit of fumbling he returned it to Jesserfly and myself.
All signed and well, we returned it, covering it a tad more with leaf litter etc ( still visable when looking for it)
Cheers

A mission was needed to complete one of the last few licence challenges on Rangitoto Island, so a passing comment to C&D at an event and this mission was soon planned. We nearly achieved what we set out to accomplish, with only 1 more cache to find to complete the challenge but that was due to miss-reading the fine print on the challenge page.
So with the mission lasting 48 hours we amassed a great set of numbers, 317 caches found, just over 1200km travelled, about 7 hours of sleep, C&D finding his 180th earthcache, completing the KAS powertrail in under 3 hours and finding numerous amazing geocaches. A lot of fun was had along the way, and some great memories were created. A big thanks to everyone for placing all the caches along the way, this mission wouldn't have been as much fun if they weren't there!
A bit of a hunt was needed to find this one, and being midnight we were weary of the nearby house. After a few minutes searching the place where we thought it was hidden I read some previous logs and worked out that it must be somewhere else. Expanded the search a bit and the cache was found.

Well another mission down the line in what HKCB and I were expecting to be another large caching weekend where numbers were the target, Sleep was for the weak, OCD=commitment , and petrol was a must. We left home at 6pm and headed straight down here to start what was going to be a long couple of days, so with much planning (compliments of HKCB) and a good supply of nourishing caching supplies in the back.
With a total of 1250 kms (just a short drive) and 5 hours of sleep we were definitely going to earn our rest by Sunday evening when we got home. Oh, we even managed to attend an event along the way and meet fellow cachers from the area while in Wanganui.
Now into the start of the last day and a bit more caching to go before we can relax, refueled earlier on amongst some great local company at the nearby event, but now it is time to grad the last caches we can before sleep overcomes us. Time to grab a few multis and rural caches that we have targeted, then once agan sleeping in the car never gets any easier on the body but it does have the added bonus of saving money for more petrol.
This was my fourth for the day (and two hundred and seventh for the weekend) although its not long after midnight, HKCB came up with the goods here while I continued to look in the wrong spot, no worries about the locals watching us at this time. Our goal for the day is to collect as many caches as possible and make it to the event in the evening, we are glad to have finally made it this far
Thankfully both HKCB and I enjoy caching through the night (and the day), well we have had plenty of experience of it, especially as we are both working on individual challenges, mine being the DGSc Challenge and includes the Night Caching elective.

I never knew about this railway station. Amazing what you learn while chasing down caches.
edited got sights mixed
took a few minutes to find but want to hard to find once looking in the right area

Another quick find. It was not where I first thought but once I realized I was in wrong are it was easy. TFTC
Geocaching lesson 1: Never assume its going to be over there.
Took off in wrong direction before checking GPS. Your partner isn't always right. That is why we have the technology.
Once we turned around the cache was in full view. Left it a bit more covered TTFTC

A weekend road trip of epic proportions. Gap (of Fap and Gap) and I plan to carve our way through the Waikato, Manawatu-Wanganui and Taranaki Regions while collecting an assortment of caches for various challenges we are working on. Should be a fun excursion...
Yes, the iPhone gps was a bit deceptive... To the point of searching a large, nearby tree. However, logic soon prevailed and the cache was found in the most likely spot. Thanks for the historical reference and TFTC.

Another weekend caching with Squirrel Nutcase, due to the kilometres we are travelling this time a over night stop in Stratford was needed. Number off D/T Ratings and old caches was our mission.

GPS moved around a bit but previous logs helped. Had already got very close but afternoon walker wandered along. Back to it and a quick find.
Got to see the milk train heading north too.

I had been here before with no luck and now there it was YA TFTC heading home on a full head of steam
Whoops, found this in full view on the ground. Replaced it nearby - not quite so visible now. tftc
Took a lil bit of searching then decided to read previous logs for help.. Thank u for this hide
After spending ages looking in the bushes I decided to look elsewhere and came up trumps. TFTC.
Found after attending the nearby CITO event today. A quick and easy find here. Coords were a bit out. Nice piece of history. Thanks for the cache and the smiley. Found with Capperz and nightowl19

The posted coords led us down the nearby driveway. Not here. Checked the "obvious" spot to no avail..(to us the obvious spot was the Railway Station sign) Ready to split with a DNF, then spotted the cache between the sign and the driveway. Whew! TFTC!!
The new coordinates led us down the path to a private residence. We looked around, put on our geocaching thinking hats, and tried other obvious locations. After a couple tries the voucher came up with the hide in a typical geocaching site. TFTC

The phantom geocacher has struck again! what makes him prey on other cachers efforts? Three "disappeared" this week!
The cache has been replaced in a slightly different form in a slightly different position. Good Luck.

3rd cache of the day and 2nd dnf Even with the coordinates given in earlier logs, no luck
Got a little confused about the location for a bit, hunted around the large tree, and where the old station used to be, but no. GPS kept bouncing around the place not helping much. Reading the logs and a different set of co-ords listed there did it for us in the end. Farmer drove in and out and looked a bit sour at us. Future cachers - it is not by anyone's driveway! TFTC
Very first one dudes!! Took a little bit to find, my sister found it first. Choice!!
Another well hidden cache. Found it while the dog barked. Seems to be a caching thing. TFTC
Last time we were here the co ords were terrible so it was great to return with better co ords. We relied on the co ords from the_Seagnoid and they proved to be spot on as they led us straight to the cache.
Seagnoids co ords are:
S 39° 52.427
E 175° 00.633
A clever hide. TFTC

Very hard to find and even after hints from friends who had recently found it, we struggled. Had been here twice and co-ordinates had us on wrong side of road then no where near cache. Felt like we were looking where we shouldnt really be allowed and was rather hard to reach when we found it. But got there in the end. TFTC
A team effort .Was a bit of a struggle to find this one as co ordinates were way out so after reading logs we all changed our co ordinates and went hunting.. Couldnt see it for looking lol.. Got caught by a farmer that lived in the house and after answering a few questions as to what we were doing there, He pointed us in the right direction yay...Tricky!
with a bit of luck we found this - tried all co-ords in the logs and found it

Out with Mrs Harries and Mrs Gj's. Searched everywhere! Adjusted co-ords to ones on a log. I was so close!. Couldn't see it. Good timing as the neighbouring farmer arrived home! Friendly country folk. He pointed us in the right direction. TFTC.
Some kind of local cycling race provided the perfect cover for this one. TFTC Jono_s
I had a quick hunt around, with the GPS coordinates jumping around there were 2 likely spots. Couldn't find it today so moved on,
were passing this area today for a job, had visited once before but ran out of time, didnt have the gps today so just had a look round, very nice hide. thanks

I love the romance of railway, sad to see these dying off. Spent ages here yesterday, trying to make sense of a cache that is definately 15 meters into private property. After a discussion with Firewoof and RachelsRiffRaff, we found where the cache owner had gone wrong. Etherlord and I came back and subsequently found it. Nice hide, spoiled by bad coordinates. I left my GPS here collecting a 10 minute average while we went off to do Train Spotters Anticipation, than came back to get my GPS. If you are having trouble, try these coords: S39°52.427 E175°00.633.
After morning tea with FireWoof and RRR, the Seagnoid realised why he had been so stumped yesterday.
Quick find today once we ignored the GPSr

The co ords desperately need updating. Our GPS was telling us to go 15m over a fence into private property which we were not prepared to do. We just didn't get it - the co ords takes us to the only driveway nearby. Surely closer to the railway station (hence the name) would've been more logical. Also are the people living in the property aware that strangers are rustling around outside their driveway - I know we wouldn't appreciate it. This is the second jono s cache that has been inaccurate that we have come across. Might give his caches a miss for now.
