#2671. Day 1 of a weekend with GB Leader in the Wairarapa - accommodation at Ica Station Whare, on the road to Riversdale Beach. We stayed in a little cottage on the same property as India House where we stayed in 1986 to get a good view of Halleys Comet. The weather was great. The first cache we looked for was this one, just after leaving Masterton. A good old Skindo cache, nice & easy to find, aided by a red lid. Tftc.
I decided this cache would be a nice outing for New Year's Day. Had a lovely bike ride through Henley Lake and then down to this cache, but unfortunately fell off my bike and injured my knee just as I was approaching the cache. Decided to contact Melt'd who came and picked me up, and at my instructions quickly retrieved the cache. Great that I got the cache I came for, even if the trip didn't end as well as I hoped! Now resting up so it heals soon and I can go for some more adventures.
A nice quick find on our road trip. Lots of people driving past wondering what we were up to. Tftc
This was a nice and quick find. Lots of cars going past checking us out.. TFTC
Returning home from Riversdale Beach today. This was one of the only caches along the way we hadn’t already located. A quick find despite the vegetation all being very wet! #6376. TFTC.
And so begins the return trip on cache highway 52 on the way 'home'. Nice and easy here in a convenient layby.
It's International Earthcaching weekend and I am 'bach' so have a free rein on what's optional, ding dong. I have had a plan for a while to knock off my remaining 52 on SH52 caches and that seemed viable, via Castlepoint for an EC. However, just South of Pongaroa the road is missing, so a new route home was needed and Rimu Road came up trumps. Quite a few skindo caches were found, and much enjoyment was had, cheers all COs. Almost 70 finds for the day, Ad Labs included, so all was good.

Day 2 Cache 1 today, but 44 all up for my mad mission to the Wairarapa for the 100-10-7 Challenge. Ethness has offered to drive again today. A big skindo day planned – a first for me. Nice to see sunshine and green landscape after yesterdays rain. A easy pull in and start to the day. TFTC.
Quick find here once I decided it had to be among the rubbish.
Today is day 1 of a 4 day e-bike ride from Masterton to Palmerston North and back. Great fun so far, hopefully that will last for the whole trip

Quick, easy find with @peadub, though we did have to wait for a couple of muggles to drive off. Signed log and replaced where found TFTC.
Took a trip down to the Wairarapa to catch up with family for a long weekend and get a few caches while in the area,
After being eyeballed by the police heading out over the bridge towards the cache I parked at GZ and then the the cop drove passed slowly checking me out then must have done a U turn to come back past to see what I was doing, once he passed the second time I jumped out to find the cache and while having a look and feel for it Mr popo came back again and pulled up quickly jumped out and asked what I was doing, what's my name, what am I doing here and what have I just hidden, I thought I play him along for a while so I replied Nothing!
He went to where I was looking and asked if there is anything under there that would cause him harm like needles or blades, I replied "I don't Know" He then went back to the car to get gloves and a tool to have a poke around and he asked what I doing down the road by the old school? (this was the cache I had found 5 minutes before hand) Looking for treasure i replied. Once he located the Cache I heard him whisper jackpot! He quickly gets up and asks me what is this? I'm not 100% sure but I believe it could be a geocache and you have just saved me from getting my hands dirty to find it,
He proceeded to open it and tip out the contents then looked at me with a deflated look probably because he had not stumble across a container full of drugs or something, he asked me a few more questions to the point where I explained what Geocaching was then he when back to his car to call his supervisor before handing it all back to me and advising me to use a car that doesn't scream "Drug Dealer" if I'm going to be parking up and looking for things.
If you have a Shiny Black Audi super low with blacked out windows and massive Wheels Be careful Geocaching in Masterton as you will fall into the "Drug dealer" category
Thanks skindo for the cache this was the one of the most exciting finds for me in the Wairarapa FP for the experience

After a bit of fossicking around, soon found the cache with the use of the hint. Despite being inside two containers, the log was a bit damp. TFTC
Out for a drive around the Wairarapa for the day to visit a few people and collect a few caches. This was one of the caches. A quick stop here, TFTC.
A lovely quick park and grab. We signed the log in the pill bottle in the cache. TFTC
Heading home from the long weekend camping trip. Easy cache to get to even with busy road. Nothing seems to be around but several cars parked here. Interesting! TFTC:-)
Whew, got to the end of 52. Dudnt get many as not many suitable places to stop. All good here thanks to the last finders maintenance. Thanks for the cache skindo
There’s a lot of rubbish around so it might’ve been picked up in a clean up? But could not find
Gather ye rosebuds - etc etc! The caches are being collected at a rate of knots. Will we ever reach our destination!! TFTC
Enjoying a great day caching with MightyMicra. Quick find, log full so added paper, TFTC.
Easily found due to good hint. Interesting to hear road statuses can be revoked! TFTC, greetings from Auckland
Working in Masterton for a week. Headed out in the evening to collect a series of caches along this road. Surprised how well some of the caches have done despite being many years old. TFTC
Dodgy looking people parked up and milling around as cars went past - we're just caching! This was our last cache/gem in order to unlock the vault for "Mystery at the museum " TFTC.
Day 2 of our Road Trip
Early start today, weather fine but very cold.
Heading south we detoured up side roads, some sealed some gravel.
Caches like yesterday that needed log sheets replacing as they were so wet we couldn't sign them. Just as well we bought new log sheets and bags with us.
The huge numbers of caches in this area we know that we will have to return on another trip.
Always great to visit new areas. Thanks for the cache placements. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap)...
We have been planning for Queen's Birthday weekend for some time - routes and caches were identified and mapped, and Gap solved a whole lot of puzzles in readiness for this adventure. We scoured many online logs and took note of the condition of the caches and their logbooks. We determined to replace any containers and logbooks where there was a dire need - This is not usually our habit and is quite time consuming; but we are enthusiastic cachers and believe in doing our bit for the wider caching community...
When nightfall arrives in winter, it comes quickly. By the time we pulled into Masterton, it was dark and rain was falling. We had no trouble finding our accommodation on the outskirts of town. Masterton seems to be quite a compact little town in the car headlights... After dinner, thoughts turned to continued caching... It felt strangely comforting to be visiting a 52 cache again. Maybe it's because we like to have sets of caches, and we are far from finishing this trail. This was a quick find - Gap angled the vehicle so the the headlights aided the search. Thanks Skindo and TFTC.

Out on a cycling tour of the Wairarapa District. We had a day off cycling, so what do geocachers do? Thanks for hiding Skindo.
very busy road. Was just thinking about coming back in the evening when there would be less traffic when we had a quiet moment.
Off on a weekend trip to Wellington area to be at a friends wedding, it would be rude of me not to get a few caches along the way
Another cache found with no problems, grabbed and placed back in between passing cars.
TFTC skindo, the cache was found in good order Signed, sealed and returned to GZ. 3 find(s) of 13 today, making this find #1837

Caching with Sidewaze. My apologies for late logging, my thanks to CO for taking the time to place the cache and giving us the challenge of finding it. TFTC
We had previously netted some caches at the other end of this series. Now here is another to add to the collection. Thanks .
Took a little bit of searching, but not too difficult in the end
Thanks for the cache

After a beautiful warm, calm sunny Sunday, I visited here on a quiet Monday morning as the cold rain came down. Found easily.

Obvious where the cache was but a bit hard to extract and unfortunately had to go down on my knees in the rather smelly mud to get at it.
Put back correctly but hopefully a little easier for the next finder to access.

Cache number 33 of 56 (find number 31 of 50 for me) on a road trip from Palmerston North to Masterton (via Pongaroa and SH52) with some like-minded individuals collectively know as Geocachers!
We ascended into the clouds at the top of the Pahiatua Track, and then it was clear for the rest of the trip until we returned back over the Track where the fog at the top gave less than 20m visibility
Quick find here by PJMacNZ. Thanks
Log signed as "Team PHETT" (PJMacNZ, haydn.seek, Etherlord, TwigNZ, and ThatWeirdGuy04)

Thanks For The Cache
Today my son (ThatWeirdGuy04) and I were lucky enough to be invited to tag along with PJMacNZ, Haydn.Seek and Etherlord Clan on a day trip around the Wairarapa.
We knew it was going to be a long day, but we were hopeful that we would get to find quite a few caches along the way, especially of the Mystery variety which we decided to concentrate mainly on getting.
The weather was kind to us, meaning we were able to spend time out of the car finding the caches and making running repairs to quite a few of them, mainly due to waterlogged log sheets and damaged plastic bags. Anyone finding these caches next in a good condition have EC and HS to thank for providing the requisite items.
My apologies for the generic log entry here, but the volume of caches found today makes it the best way to get everything done. With a small few exceptions, most of the caches were a relatively straightforward find, and in every case the logsheet was signed as Team PHETT for all 5 of us before the cache was replaced exactly where found.
Thank you for placing this cache, and giving us the excuse to have a grand day out.

A quick park n grab with no muggle worries. Signed name on paper supplied by geodatum that I have been following in there footsteps today. I was here about 5.30pm. I wonder when Mr and Mrs G were here today.

We took flight on the Planetary Pursuit today, off to the Wairarapa. We had this trip already in the pipeline so now was a good time to do it - first down to Masterton and out on the Te Ore Ore Road, up through Bideford to Route 52 and looping back down to Masterton again.
The weather was perfect and we got some glorious views. A childhood friend of Mrs G's had come from Bideford and about 55 years later geocaching finally took her to see the area.
We aimed for 26 caches and got them all, we replaced a couple of lost caches and a few wet logs with waterproof paper. All in all it was a successful journey and a good help along the way in our pursuit of the planets.
Here we were pleased to complete this end of the Route 52 trail (still have the part from Waipukurau to Weber to do). We put in a waterproof log sheet as the original was very wet. TFTC
We were about two hours ahead of you adventure collectors - sorry we didn't meet up.

Easy find. The existing log has become a lump of mush so I removed it from the zip lock bag and replaced it with something I had and signed that. New log in bag and old log replaced in container.
