Back in Cairns after a year and happened to pass this elusive cache. I have looked several times before & even with the extra clue from the last finders continue to have no sucess.
This is 'the one that got away' . I know Isthmus hides are tricky but this one is particularly curly

We had dinner at the German Beer Hall and then headed on foot to a couple of nearby caches. We were going from the hint of a prior finder which still did not assist in our quest.....and then it started to rain. So we decided it was prudent to give this one a miss this time. Thanks anyway isthmus.
Despite the most recent finder telling us where to look we came up empty handed. Could the CO confirm this one is still in play?
Bad luck Found lot of Oecophylla smaragdina but no cache. Need a better hint next time
Plenty of searching but no joy. Found a few geckos, moths and ants... Unfortunately my environmental ethic stopped the search when the areas micro habitats became the focus. Given the number of DNF's, perhaps an additional hint could be included...?? Cheers
Too difficult for us, but thanks for bringing us here, Greetz from the Netherlands.
My second search for this one, I have looked behind every blue light, in all the crevices, in many holes and around several trees, my gps seems to want to wander after settling on one spot so I looked at all the most likely spots as well as many others.
I have spent over an hour at the GZ in total
Shame as I shall not be in Cairns again after Friday
Thanks for bringing me here as it is a great location

Despite there being a lot of sad faces in a row, I decided to give it a go and had no luck. I suspect that this cache may have been muggled.
Please could the owner check this cache out to see if it is still there? I believe it has been muggled. Will wait for it to be confirmed as being there and will then give it another go the next time I travel through Cairns.
Having read the logs decided this was too hard, but couldn't help myself. Pointed the Garmin in the right direction (not that she wanted to be accurate but there were so many people lying around that it was just impossible to even attempt to look. But a beautiful spot for young people to take in the pleasant breeze here on the Esplanade.
Pretty crazy trying this one at 5pm on a Sunday, school hols, with our 'discreet' ! Granddaughters. We'll be back, perhaps not till next year. Keen to beat Aidenkai to find this one. We are amazed at the variety and quality of hides in Cairns. Thanks heaps for all if the hides.
Too hard, too difficult. Just too many people around day and night (school holidays).
After a very long search persistence paid off. Thanks to some fellow geocachers for your assistance. Definitely tested us!
nice hide very hard to spot and without the local knowledge gained at the meet yesterday i doubt we would have found this as easily as we did so thanks to our new friends from the caching community
Nice find with the help of the cachers at the event on Saturday. I do love caches like this and wish there were more of them!!

Finally! Had some caching friends provide some suggestions to help after our event breakfast TFTC

Earlier in the week significant muggle activity close to the cache prevented any search. However I had the feeling this could have been a challenge. Fortunately I happily took instructions on cache location after the event this morning
After days of struggling to locate this one, and trying to muggle watch and GC spot at the same time on my own, Ive come to the conclusion that its either been muggled or I am blind. Either way, the hours are counting down and I doubt ill get the chance to tick this one off. So disappointed!
I hate having to search so carefully in a very public place.
Looking innocent for so long is a challenge.

Finally found the bloody thing. I have looked for this one every few weeks since I got here in feb. Today was my last day and I couldn't just leave it with a dnf. Thanks to a helpful hint I focused my attentions on the correct style of hide and low and behold, there it was! Thank you Cairns people for some fun and tricky caches!
With Fangsoki out tonight and between the cover of night, lots of passing muggles and likely a tricky hide, we had no luck. A pretty area by night though.
Very tricky hide, found thanks to some intell

Some fencing has been erected around area for the Ironman Triathlon at weekend (Sun 9th June) but was still accessible through an open section and although we were seen by various people erecting a marquee they completely ignored our presence.

With all the DNFs on this cache, I didn't hold too many hopes of finding this one on my run this morning. might have to get a hint from the CO
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news to the previous loggers but this cache is alive and well.
I attacked this cache with the enthusiasm that it deserves from a pretty high D rating
After watching the ever so slowly walking security muggle zip past at nought point 2 miles per hour (I nearly ran out of thins to talk about on my imaginary mobile GPS phone he was so slow), I could then continue with my hunt. I must also admit to having a hint from a previous cacher along the way [8)]
After a few more minutes passed and a few more sluggish muggles past I came across something that wasn't quite normal in what was already an abnormal situation
A little more patience and the prize was in hand
TFTC isthmus - Container and contents all good

Searched and searched for this one last night and today. Can see nothing out of place and nothing that matched the hint. Reluctantly have decided that it will not be found and may be gone.
Log is absolutely drenched. Looks full also. Unfortunately I did not have this type of log in my backups so unable to swap out.
First time we visited this one and we were somewhat intrigued by this one. Found something that looked a bit out of place and it turned out to be the cache. Nice hide.
Found it No. 8159 ... we used the phone a friend option ... TNLN ... TFTC isthmus
I feel guilty for not logging the three DNFs I've had looking for this cache. Asked for help on this one this arvo and another friendly cacher pointed me in the right direction (THANK YOU!) I would say it was a quick find but that wouldn't show testament to this great hide. TFTC!
after adding another dnf to the majority of logs we needed help what we needed was local knowledge .......... so we went to the top after a much appreciated shove in the right direction from Wazza , the invisible was now larger than life.[^] sl.tnln.TFTC

With the Wanderfalkin together to cruise with the Rhapsody of the Seas from Sydney to Cairns and back, we have placed a stop.
A beautiful city and there was plenty to see. Thanks for the cache.

Add our names to the long line of failures. Here from upstate NY and Isle of Jersey.
Visiting Cairns on SS Volendam. As we have been here before we spent time ashore grabbing a few caches. No luck and little time available. Should have checked other logs.
Epic fail! You pwned us n00bs... Return visit with more info and still failed. We will return with more technology.
Whilst attending a nearby event, "Moon Shadow", I gained the information required to find this elusive cache.
Now I can finally sleep at night

Yanoo: Unfortunatelly we didn't succeed with Vrana. But we stay in Cairns for more 3 days, so perhaps next time... What was the luck - we met a girl from our country, Slovakia, just under the tree
If there is one thing that Ducks don't like it getting tangled up in vines and tight spaces.
So many muggles around, never mind on with the search, when strange looks were given, particularly by the nearby couple that were at the early stage of foreplay, I used the standard reason for foraging anywhere when disturbed or questioned, The old the fail proof excuse, 'That I was trying to locate and photograph nesting site of the Giant Queensland Cockroach or whatever creature ( the more boring and repulsive the creature plant etc is the less reason for them to show any interest. So far has worked with every bystander, security, bylaw officers and police) After a thorough search gave up and decided that life is too short to spend more than 20 minutes rummaging around like a bush tick on a wombat.
Well we agree with a lot of the logs this is one great hide, would loved to have found it but think it must have gone out for quite a while as we were there for about 30minutes and the blighter wasn't home. So we ran out of time and headed for our home for the next couple of days while in Cairns and left this one probably still laughing at us Mexicans. Thanks for giving us a great challenge.

Even at 1am on Monday morning this one proved difficult. There were way too many muggles at the nearby bar, and the council's automatic sprinklers popping up randomly deterred us from searching for this one for fear of getting drenched. A nice walk amongst the colourfully-lit trees though so we will be returning to try again at some point.
TFTC. Would never have found without assistance. Thanks Isthmus for this very difficult hide.
Was given assistance with this one after the breakfast event. Not sure I would have found it on my own. TFTC
At last ! After a few visits I thought I would never find this one. Thanks Wazza for the hints! I have probably been within cm of this one on each visit and not seen it. Thanks isthmus for this one.
Another tough one from ithsmus, we will not be deterred! Will be back for another hunt soon!
It is the winter here in Cairns, but still 27'C everyday!!! What must it be like in the summer?! The Esplanade is home to the relaxing lagoon where everyone goes to rest, sunbathe and chill out with friends and family. I was seen there wearing my Woodham Ley back-pack! It is at the edge of the city (a small city - not like London) and has a lovely view looking out over the huge ocean. Cairns is surrounded by hills and mountains with exciting adventures such as bungy jumping, white water rafting, hiking, wildlife and lots of amazing sights. The best thing to do in cairns is of course go scuba diving or snorkelling on the Great Barrier Reef - which I will be doing tomorrow and I am very excited; maybe I'll find Nemo!!
No luck with this one. Actually, we met another geocaching family from Perth. Despite many pairs of eyes none of us could find this tricky cache.
Left the cache for lunch and noticed another cacher having a go at this one, but looks like they didn't find it either.

Wow, this one has got us stumped! We spent a fair bit of time looking for it today - both in the morning and again later in the afternoon. Looked high and low and in between. Don't know if we will have time to eventually discover where this illusive cache is hiding from us, as we are only in Cairns for a short period of time. We did spot an insect - "you beauty" we thought - until it moved!! Oh well, took a picture of it anyway...
Not Found by Facitman around 15:00
Many DNFs on this suggested that we might be writing this log! e-facit and I were looking for a few caches around the area and so we thought we'd give this one a go. e-facit had camera so the interesting tree provided some nice shots and more so, appropriate cover for our search, but we were unsuccessful. I would normally at this point of writing my log say something like "I'll be back, no way will I let this beat me" but as we live 2000km away!
Thanks isthmus

Fantastic tree! With roughly one billion hiding places on and around. Back in Norway I would have been less reluctant to poke my fingers into any nook and cranny as I was I am down under. Will think and get back!
I was back in Cairns for the day and really wanted to find this one. I had phoned (emailed?) a friend and had some additional clues without giving it away. I looked over and over but still nothing. I tried something different and found the little sucker! If only I had of done the same thing a couple of weeks ago! Thanks for a great little hunt - a favorite point from me due to the challenge!
I knew this one would be hard, but I've been wanting to try it for weeks! I looked high and low, stuck my hands in places I shouldn't and still couldn't find it. I'll be back for you!
AT LAST......after countless attempts I found you. I was in town dropping mrsbiggles58 off to a hairdressing appointment so with some time to fill in, off I trotted down a well worn path to frustration anticipating another round of profound disappointment and defeat. But not so!!! I don't know how many times I had previously looked in the exact location of the critter, however, on this occassion something caught my eye....and after a quick pull...there it was. YOU BEAUTY!!!! Certainly a typical isthmus hide that bought me back to the hide many times to try again. Thats for the challenge isthmus. SL TNLN TFTC
Sadly, we didn't get this one. Maybe a little too confident after the nearby finds. Had to get creative...and downright obvious when looking for it. Like others, GPS couldn't narrow down which side of the path to search.
Got approached by a muggle asking "what are you guys doing?" Luckily, we had a quick answer, "picking up rubbish in the bushes"

after getting confirmation from the owner that i was in the right spot i came back for another look but still cant find
Spent half an hour loitering and searching between foot traffic to no avail. Couldn't tell from GPS what side of the path to look on, made the search area twice as large. Will hopefully try this again soon!
Yep, its a hard one alright. Had a paddle anyway, and left for mission beach as the friday night boozers began to fill. TFTH
Sadly we didn't find this one, a really difficult one, and searching in the darkness is not helping.
Difficult to look for too long with the heavy muggle activity around GZ. I'll be back. TFTH.
located GZ, a patch of grass adjacent to a large fig tree but as many before me could not locate the elusive arachnad.
will keep a watch on it and have another look another day
