DNF
Was in Westport for two nights and it was time to leave this lovely part of the west coast and make our way today to Nelson, this was our first DNF for the day.
Managed to find a car park not too far from GZ and it was a quick walk to GZ arriving at GZ and waited for the GPSr to settle down I soon realised where GZ was and noted that the new post are now up and after a quick search around GZ that this was going to be a hopeless task as I think that the cache might have gone now as there is a new and improved fence at GZ. I think that the cache might be a goner.
Thanks for bringing us here but noting to see here now.

Quick find. A bit in the open now with the fence down and trees down. Might need to be moved. TFTC
Mum found this one. Easter storm has tobbled most of the trees and the fence line is doggy. Cache may need relocating as it is a little exposed now.
We were a bit distracted by all the trees down at our GZ, but saw that the cache had been found since the big Easter storm so carried on searching. Only after using the alternative co-ords of a previous finder did we find it. TFTC.
#7561. We saw quite a wekas the next day at Cape Foulwind. Here we just saw lots of damage to big pine trees. GZ seems to be right under a number of fallen trees; luckily the cache turned out to be a bit further down the fenceline. TFTC.
Holidaying in the South Island, grabbing a few caches on the way. Early morning find, while staying in Westport. Thanks for the cache.
Heading over to the Westcoast for a weekends family adventure. Stopped at a few caches along the way.
Staying overnight in Westport - Mrs G has some Family History chasing to do up at Denniston.
Came out at night after the wee dudes tucked into bed. Try and knock off a few caches in the area.
Cheeky as alright. As per Isis58 I didn't pay the description much heed. Parked up as close as could be on the nearby dirt road....over a couple electric fences and bobs-ur-uncle (or not). Quick find and sign. Nice wee cache. Cheers.

Add me to the list of those that thought they knew where they were going and didn't read the description. So navigated two electric fences and another wire one to find this well constructed cache. Then navigated my way back. Will I learn from it? Probably not. TFTC #5439
Should have read the instructions instead of climbing the fence and crossing the horse paddock. TFTC
It would have made sense to sit down and take a good look at the map first and work out what the instructions meant - - - but of course I didn't, so I took a trip down the wrong road first, before retracing my steps and taking a trip down the right road. - - - One way to take a good look around Westport!!! Once at GZ the tricky hide was soon exposed and the log signed. TFTC.

After staying the night in Westport we spent the morning picking up a few caches around town before heading out to Cape Foulwind. Started off on the wrong side of the cache, but saw a couple of cheeky Weka on the road, when we found the correct side we strolled across the field and made a quick find of the clever hide. As we walked back to the car we saw lots of Kereru flying overhead in a massive flock, then land in the trees around the field - we have never seen this many in one place like that before. TFTC

12999… Cool container, spotted a few wekas earlier but none hanging around at the sports field, TFTC.
Came for a walk to here after a meal at a restaurant while staying in Westport. I had checked the best route to the cache using Google Earth while waiting for my meal and it turned out that if you're walking, the shortest route is the best route. Found the cache by torchlight just as darkness was falling, I methodically worked along the row of hint objects and it didn't take long at all to spot it. No wekas today although I had seen plenty earlier in the day around Karamea, and I could hear them calling in the distance as I walked back to my motel. Signed log, thanks fot the cache and the excuse for a pleasant evening walk.
Whilst playing another game (virtual/real) in Westport tonight we were brought to a spot nearby so decided we would attempt this cache while we were in the area - found our way in then the gps took us very close and the cache was soon spotted - good hide thanks for the cache
Passing through this area and spotted this so after a nice night stroll wem anaged a quick find Thanks for the cache
This was my second attempt at this one as my GPS had me the same place as last time I expanded the search and hey presto! Great container, very clever. There has been a lot of clearance in this location and once i was close it was easily spotted. Thanks for the hide.
Even my ex local hubby did not know this sports field was here. There were some fantastic mushrooms/toadstools growing in the grass. TFTC PS From our experience cache is a small size.
Many Thanks for all the caches and maintaining them, been a great trip up the Coast so far.

Got to GZ soon enough and then couldn't see anything likely for quite a while. Read a few logs. Plugged in the alternative coordinates and finally got close enough to spot the hide. There have been plenty of batton's west of the cache that have been moved to look at the base as I did for half a dozen of them. Great to knock this one off after never quite managing to get here on previous visits.

This took us quite a while to locate, as the coordinates seemed a bit out. Our coordinates were S41 44.236 E171 36.004. Mr W.E.K.A. would suggest that East Coast (Mrs) W.E.K.A.s are just as cheeky as West Coast ones. TFTC
Oops! Through private property we went (avoiding the electric fence lol ). We looked a lot harder than we had to really here, but the cache when we found it is really well done. Enjoyed doing this one. tftc
Took the long way to this by mistake on the road then had to jump 2 fences. 1 was electrified. Go through Rayner park it's easier . Found ok. TFTC .
Walked past here in torrential rain. Came back in better conditions to find cache. TFTH
We needed two attempts on this cache. First spent ages, then disturbed by someone training to replace Dan Carter. So we decided to go for a coffee and returned. Thanks God he realised that he is never going to replace any number 10 and had left. So without anyone around it still took ages to find. But at the end... TFTC

This one took a bit of finding around the debris, but once in right area it was a quick find. Mrs Geckoh is NOT fond of wetas - just for the record. TFTC

Found ourselves on the wrong side. Back in the car, quick spin round the block and started from the right side. After a quick race I beat Little S1 to the cache. TFTC.
Our first attempt at night caching round Carter's Beach was thwarted when we arrived to find a fireworks display about to happen. At least with all the locals gathered there it meant less muggles elsewhere so a quick change of order saw us carry on after making a donation to the Search and Rescue volunteers manning the road intersections. Not so easy picking a way through all the fallen branches etc in the dark but cache soon found and signed. TFTC.
On a caching trip with Holymu destination West Coast. This cache was on the list of night caches. A bit of local knowledge helps sometimes. The cache was soon in hand considering the obstacles. Nice container doing the job very well of keeping the log dry. TFTC
GPS directed us behind the sports field, then we realised where we needed to be, but with all the rain yesterday, we decided the trek wasn't on today. Maybe another trip.
Coords were pretty good, spotted quickly. Horse nearby not interested in us. No Weka spotted here......zillions else where though.
Found with Mr B this evening. We had to widen our search a bit from where the GPS pointed us. He went one direction while I went the other. He chose the right direction. Nice container, good to see something just a bit different. TFTC.
Not sure how no13's GPS went straight for it In the end the cache was easily spotted, mostly because we approached it like a horse would. Appreciate the extra effort. Thanks for placing this cache.
Trees didn't help reception making the search take longer than expected still rewarded with a smiley face; TFTC
Arrived from Karamea after doing caches on the way
we decided that we would go and find this one as it was starting to get dark.
followed our GPS which took us straight to the cache
loved it especially the container.
thank you for making the effort with this cache.

Coordinates changed from:
S 41° 44.235 E 171° 36.008
Coordinates changed to:
S 41° 44.234 E 171° 35.999
Distance from original: 41.3 feet or 12.6 meters.
Cache is still there and in one piece, just thought I would try and get the coords a bit more accurate.

Couldn't spot this one. Been plenty of work nearby with fallen trees. Did find a left behind easter egg from someones easter hunt.
Found it this time good one, my gps was 14mtrs out.
Lots of trees around with by red crosses on them, might for be firewood............

An enjoyable cache. Nicely set up! Glad the fied wasnt being used. 4/17 for the day. TFTC
I searched really a lang time. But in the end i followed one more time my gps. Coordinates were spot on and so i got ftf. Tftc
Had a hunt around in the scrub under the trees, no sign of any container with a lid or wekas today. Might need another hint?
