On our long term trip from Germany to Western Australia / Tasmania / New Zealand for about 3,5 month, we arrived New Zealand and by the way, we pick up some caches. I'm visiting New Zealand for a tour around the country . First I spent 2 weeks in Auckland. Now I'm touring the North Island. While enjoying the sightseeing I also visit some caches. This is one of them. Thank you for showing me the place and thank you for the cache . Greetings from Switzerland .

Came up here on my walk around today. This area reminds me a bit of Waiheke with its great sea views and nice little bush trails like this one. After getting up all the stairs, I stopped to look out at the view and find the cache as well. It was in the first place I looked which is always nice Smile

Thanks for the cache as an incentive to come up here!

Smile Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are now parked up in Whitianga for the next few days … we took the ferry across to the other side of the harbour & then went for a walk … thought it would be rude to not to check out a couple of caches while out & about … this one was an easy find, completed the log & replaced it … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... 12-Feb-22
Up in cooks beach for a week and we picked up quite a few caches this morning biking around. This afternoon we’re waiting for our son and his family to come up and as I was browsing through caches online I saw this. Just enough time to do the loop so we took off. Loop completed in 40 mins with time out for photos and to pick up the cache and now we’re back at the house in time to greet family - phew!! Even have time to log this cache. Thanks for bringing us up here and for the replacement cache, Tufty. Amazing location and fun track even if it’s slippery after recent rain! TFTC

New construction at GZ, cache was missing

15-Aug-21
After reading the previous log I rang the CO and discussed the replacement of this cache. he gave me permission to do so if it was missing.

Upon arriving at the published GZ I found that new stepss had been installed there and the cache missing. There was nowhere to hide there so I moved up the track about 19m to hide it. Gavethe CO the new coords and a suggestion for the new hint.

Glad to help out, sp8sm8.

Cheers for the cache.

Day 9 - Boxing Day - Saturday 26 December - Whitianga - Cooks Beach - Tairua. So lets go exploring.

The Seagnoid, Zara, Toby and I are off on another geocaching escape over Xmas, this time to the mighty Coromandel, then over to Opotiki and stop off at Rotorua to return home on 5 January. Had an fabulous time exploring many wonders of our country. Rounding up over 400 caches along the way, with a few LABS, 20 odd TMGTs, virtuals and lots of interesting earth caches to keep the mind busy. Watching the sun come up on New Years Day at Mt Maunganui was spectacular. Lots of walking and even more driving. But had an awesome time. Thanks to all COs who made this adventure so special.

26-Dec-20
I was admiring the view when the dragon comes up behind me and says she saw it on the way up. Me? Blind as a bat! Lots of steps. Lots and lots of steps. I ran out of toes, so... more than twenty!

Taybeedragon and I went on a tour of the Coromandel - one of the few places of New Zealand, especially of Te ika a Maui, that I have yet to explore throughly, and from there along the coast to Opotiki to see one of my many, many sisters. From 18 December to 5 January we found over 400 caches, including 12 adventure labs (60 caches), 20 or so TMGTs and a host of virtuals and earthcaches. And I hosted an event to see the sun come up on New Year's day - surprisingly popular given that it was at 5am. We climbed a lot of hills, saw some amazing beaches that were quite popular despite (or because of) the insane access to them, walk a lot of bush, entered and explored 8 gold mines and generally had an awesome time. However I am glad to be back, but now is the hard part, and I fear it will take just as long - logging!

Had plans with Tramyard to head back to the Coromandel, this time to complete the There 'n Back trail between Tapu and Coroglen. It was an early morning start, leaving home at just after 5am to get coffee on the way to meet tramyard. A very successful day, with 65 caches found before arriving home exhausted at 11pm.

We were intending to head to Cook's Beach but we had taken a wrong turn at Coroglen and didn't realise until we were about 5km from Whitianga. Decided to continue on anyway and find the 4 new Geotour caches in the area and grab some lunch. Finally made our way to our original destination. Headed to start at the Ferry landing and make our way back towards Cook's Beach.

This was a bit of a hike up here to this cache, but the view was well worth it.

Out for another caching mission with Cats&Dragons today, with the goal to focus on caches along the Eastern side of the Coromandel Peninsula, starting in Whitianga and working our way down to Whangamata. A early start from Hamilton saw us pulling up to the first cache just after 5am, with the last cache for the day found a little before 3pm.

We got lucky with the weather with only a few showers throughout the day, and I successfully found 46 caches throughout the day, with only 3 DNF's. A very enjoyable day in a truly spectacular place. A big thanks to all the CO's who placed the caches we found.

An enjoyable walk up the hill to ths cache. Spotted the cache as I got to the platform, great views from up here.

16-Jun-19
Early morning Caching Mission to see what was up the Coromandal Peninsula, and working our way back from Whitianga down to Whangamata. This way we would leave enough caches to make the cache run worth it, hitting it from the south which would make it an easier day next time.Today I was in the company of HKCB, (logs were generally signed HKCD) and we soon set in putting the world to rights, discussed may sports and enjoyed good music, caches along with fantastic sunshine.Managed a total of 63 caches and only 3DNF's so all in all a pretty good outcome. We set out from home, departing at 3am with a long drive, and big day ahead of us. The good thing at this time is that there are very few other cars to worry about on the winding roads. We eventually made it back home by 4.30pm.

After such an early start this I will admit was a bit of a haul to get my lard arse up here, but was rewarded with a splendid view over the bay.
A big thank you to all the cache owners for their diligence in maintaining these caches for the likes of us to enjoy.

Find number 4742. I was making my way back to my care when I spotted this walkway. Assuming it would take me to this cache I huffed and puffed my way upwards. My GPS took me to the wrong spot initially. It may have been the wrong spot for the cache but it was the right spot for a great view. Anyway back on track I soon had the cache in hand. But no pen in pocket to do the business. So it was back to the view to check. No not there. Bugger I am not going back down for one. I was just about to take a photo of the log when I felt it in a different pocket that I normally put it. Whew. Signed and returned. 5 min down the hill I met a family coming up for a walk. Thank you for the placement.

We'd assembled an awesome team for another assault on the Coromandel today. This cache is precisely why the Coromandel is my favourite part of the country. Great view from the top but with a busy day still a head we didn't stay for as long as I'd liked to have. The cache was found quickly and in good condition thanks to accurate coords and a straight forward placement. Cheers sp8sm8, TFTC Smile

With Gap (of Fap and Gap), McJandals, NZFlossy, Philip.Perry, and TNXPro... Another mission into Coromandel. The plan for today was to clear out Cooks Beach and Hahei...

This one seemed to characterise our adventures today... A steady walk upwards accompanied by lots of noisy breathing, a nice view, and a cache. Thanks for bringing us here. TFTC.

Today was a group assault on the Cooks and Hot Water Beach areas.
Along with Squirrel Nutcase. McJandal, NZ Flossy, Phillip Perry, TNXPRO and myself.
Left home just after 7am and our first stop was Waihi to collect 2 caches.
Opted to travel to Cooks Beach and work backwards home.
Never cached in this area but some of the group have.
Mixed bag of near drive bys, good walks and amazing scenery.
We also we had a couple of each caches to visit, in particular Cathedral Cove.
Lots of muggles today but guess there would be a lot more in the summer time.
Great day of caching
Good fish & chips at Cooks Beach for lunch and good Pizza at Waihi for dinner.
Thanks to the cache owners for caches we found today. SLTFTC

Off on another trip to the Coromandel with TeamBOP in perfect weather conditions.
We stopped at many great locations and had a lot of laughs along the way, which makes for a really enjoyable trip.
We have cached through Cooks Beach before but never found time for this one. We parked at the boat ramp and headed up to this cache from the back of the hill.
The track was steep, damp and slippery but a nice walk.
We stopped at the brand new looking viewing platform just before the summit and enjoyed the view overlooking Whitianga, before we pushed on to GZ.
The find was quick and easy and the cache was in good order.
I really enjoyed the magnificent view from up here and snapped a few nice pics.
The massive rocks protruding from the hill were amazing. Hope they stay there.
Thanks for bringing us up here. It was a steep climb, but totally worth it.

as i walked back down towards the maramaratotara track a big black storm cloud rolled in. i expected to get very wet, but it only released a few drops of rain (which were very cooling) before moving on. i avoided the shallows at back bay (as directed by the arrows) & then made my way back up to the top of the next hill. whilst admiring the view from one of the lookout stations, i met the one & only other person i saw between ferry landing & my return to the road. he was running the trail & made my sauntering efforts seem rather feeble Wink
anyway, he was long gone before i reached the location of this cache, so i had the opportunity to search undisturbed & soon had the cache in my hand (using the helpful hint)
onward & downwards i go ...

Mr TW and I caught the ferry over from Whitianga and walked from the ferry drop off to the end of Cooks Beach and back again picking up all the caches along the way. As much as I am not a fan of hills this was a must to and well worth the effort on this hot muggy but overcast day. No problems at all in locating the cache and the view was fantastic. TFTC

We stayed in whitianga last night and forgot the jackets at the playground. So we came over here from cathedral cove to take the ferry. Sometimes it is cool to forget something. We got them back and I had time to walk this incredible loop with lookouts, forest -once I nearly got lost- and a bit of climbing. I love it.
Thanks for this to boxes.
