DNF we think we know where it should be but we think the water may have washed it away
The very cool, grey, misty weather continues, and today Ive set my sights on Mt Barker for a handful of caches. There is a hollow at the base of the host here, and it currently filled with water. The cache was floating in it. Fortunately the contents are ok, and Im pretty sure that Ive spotted where it is supposed to be, and that is where I have returned it.Thanks for the hide clare007.
A quick find here today, cache is all goodToday I headed up into the hills to Little Hampton to attend an event, after the event I made my way around Mount Barker finding a few caches yet to be found before making my way down into the city to find some newer caches. Thanks for the cache
Those as old as me will remember The Banana Splits TV show in the 70s. Enjoyed thus nice little hide. TFTC
Southern Autumn adventure Day 51. Mid North section of SA trip Day 22. Mount Barker 2. Today and yesterday and tomorrow are really transitional to me getting to Mildura in time to do the Paddle Steamer with friends from Canberra. I journeyed to a spot about 35km South of Loxton near a location called Veitch via Murray Bridge an Karoonda for lunch. Before I left I spent an hour or so near Mount Barker having a final go at a few multis with difficulties and other local caches. The rain started while I was out and did not let up for the rest of the day. As I traveled, I did manage to stop a few times, getting wetter all the time, but I was keen to find some caches. At the final stop for the day I found a remote patch of roadside rest area and sat quietly till it was time to leave the next day.
Such a beautiful old tree, I hope to gets to stay the distance.
Thanks for the cache clare007

Thanks for the cache!
Thanks for the cache!
The adventures of Sparkie and Goldy have returned, this time for some caches around Mount Barker, Nairne, Kanmantoo and Callington.
An 8:30AM start, followed by laughs, lots of potholes, Hungry Jacks for lunch and 21 caches for the day with a handful of DNFs.
Took a minute of searching but spotted eventually and signed.
Thanks clare007 for this cache.
This brings my find count to 2405 on the 26th of January 2023.

We found a nail inside the tree hollow, but nothing hanging from it. I think this one is missing.
At the risk of encountering a death noodle, I did venture into the long grass. I looked in all the usual spots, noticed the empty nail and nothing much else. I then looked at the water in the bottom and spotted the cache sitting precariously on a log just above the water line. I did the 'splits', lunged and grabbed the little fella and returned to the surface. I signed the nice new log book, shiny bag and put it back neatly. I then realised the issue, you have used a thin metal wire to hook it on, and it is just falling apart with rust. Perhaps a small zip tie instead.
I fashioned a hook and put it back on the nail. Thanks for the challenge and the cache clare007. Nice work, nice (dead) tree, with lots of stories to tell I expect. Find #7879 at 1.26pm

I was coming up to Mt Barker for an evening event so thought I would come early to get a few caches on the way. [^]
This one was a previous DNF so I was keen to come and find it after seeing it had been replaced. The grass had just been mowed although there was still some that was knee high near GZ. I made plenty of noise and luckily didn't spot any wildlife. Cache was found right where I had spotted the lid last time. Glad to have my stamp in the log.

A caching day out with Doctor Owl and sushilord was organised starting off in the hills and ending up down at Langhorne Creek. A lovely day exploring and finding caches in some out of the way places. [^]
I had been here once before and wasn't sure of my footing so I left it for another day. Today was that day as I had a couple of previous finders with me. Well we found the remnants of the cache (only the lid attached to the wire) and couldn't find anything else so the cache and log have gone.
Hopefully one day I will be able to turn this one into a smilie.
Thanks anyway clare007.

The cache is very wet so I needed to pour out water. Managed to sign on wet log thanks clare007 for the cache.
Full time nomads exploring SA. Mr Felix headed out on his bike this morning to tackle some caches. Once he returned we hopped into the Geo Cruiser to attempt some more.

Very good spot, I wasn’t expecting to find it how it was positioned. Well done
Super super wet, looks like it's been that way for some time. There's black mould growing on the book.
This evening, I headed to Mount Barker to visit a new few reserves and areas. It was a nice evening, and as it started to get dark, I headed home.
What a cool tree, in particular the banana split characteristic! I initially came in side on, and was greeted to a large creek full of water, so although I was within metres of GZ, I had to take another jog around. The cache was hidden nicely, and the cache container and logbook were in good shape. Thanks clare007 for the cache placement and ongoing maintenance.

Managed to retrieve without falling in a favourite point for a cool hide.
Found with Erine14 on our Mt Barker area caching day to celebrate her birthday! TFTC!

Found relatively quickly, which was so good. I had been here before at least once, so it was good to finally knock this one off. It was a bit tricky with a dodgy knee and a dog that wanted to go hunting, but got there in the end. TFTC
After my breakfast club event I headed to Mt Barker summit with locuscache and others for a group assault on a high DT cache.
Once that was gone I was transported back to MB where I spent the rest of the day collecting a few caches didn’t get everything on my list as I ran out of steam. I like MB a cool growing place and the caching was fun. Still more to come back for, but slowly working my way through them.
Enjoyed a lovely walk in the Laritinga wetlands and my iWatch was happy that I closed my rings for the first time in a while.
Thanks to all the CO for the hides and maintenance.

Found it but only had a pencil and this wasn’t going to work because the logs was wet. Found with superman_22. Nice hide though.
Great hide, log is wet. Tried to log the best we could. Found with Northstar76
Found out with Muggle Hubby on Sunday afternoon. Log wet needs replacing. TFTC TNLNSL
Out and about caching with an Adder.
As we arrived at a safe place to park, we could see where the hide would be.
Strolled over to GZ.
The Adder soon had the cache in his scales. Tftc

The usual Wednesday wanderings for the troupe of Puzzled Puzzlers animals was planned for Murray Bridge however at the last minute the KORF (Sushilord) sent a message telling us that he was not feeling up to the day's outing, the plans were changed to target Mount Barker, the home town of the Starfish who had already cleared out all the hides which left only the Adder and the Rat to seek out the hides.
Another sneaky clever hide by the CO. We sort of had to go in there, just a little. TFTC

Nicely hidden little cache. Log was a tad damp so laid in the sun for a couple of minutes. TFTC

2nd attempt at this one. Found the cache but no log book to sign. I will be back for this one...
And that's a DNF from me. Did find fish in the water and a square glass bead on the grass...
I found what seemed to be what was left of the cache... oh well. Thanks for the hide anyway.
Went back to this one to show the GeoKids and it's missing. Lid is still there but container is gone.
Clever little hide but I had to wade through a swamp to get there! The recent heavy rain had saturated the lawn nearby.
Rode the mountain bikes around the bike trails around Mt Barker, grabbing caches along the way. Great trails in a lovely area. Good hiding spot out of sight. Signed log.
A great little cache in a cool hiding spot. Like the scenery here but wonder when it'll be over-run with houses as there's a sign up nearby. Bit of a worry as this is a flood-plain. Guess money always comes before brains. TNLN. Cheers.
Out with Getnict and Sir_Spectre for a days caching. Short search and found the cache.
found it with getnict and rod81w. Found the cache but no log. Replaced the log. Quick find. At least I understand the cache name now.
Out and about doing some caching with sir_spectre and Rod81w. Grabbing caches along the way to complete some multi's that we had previously started.

Staying in Mount Barker for the week, for our annual holiday to see the Santos Tour Down Under Bicycle Event.
Day Four of racing and today was our turn to particiapte by doing the BUPA ride which meant a 5.30am start to the day, and finishing in Campbletown.
Back in Mount Barker and our only free night left for these holidays we decided to go around and grab a few caches locally. On our list we had nine caches to find, of which we only found six, the other three being DNF's.
Have to be careful where one walks when locating this cache to sign the log.

A clever little hide. So clever that Owl and Gizmo at first assumed that the recent obvious storm damage had probably done away with the cache. However a call to the CO and a second, more serious look, uncovered the cache. Not sure what the last finders found, as the log wasn't signed by them and there is no way you could find this cache 'by accident'!
Mrs Gizmo was out caching with Doctor Owl around Mt Barker and this was one of the caches in Owl's sights.
At first we thought this cache had been lost in the recent storm as there was evidence of flood damage.
A quick call to the CO who assured us the placement was out of reach of floodwaters, so we wandered back for another look and soon had the cache in hand. Clever hide!
The log hasn't been signed by the previous finder, so maybe they found something else or didn't realise they should sign the log.
A favourite point from me!

Taking GeoKid and GeoDog for a walk today and found it by accident! Thanks for the cache.
Found with nannajoan 7, log was container OK missing replaced with paper page , and signed log, Thanks.
Thanks for the hint as it made us stand back and look more carefully. The well hidden cache was located and the longer arms of Mr y'stassie enabled retrieval. The cache and contents were in good condition. Thanks clare007 for a good hide - it earns a favourite from us.
Found with 2011*turtle eventually! Read previous logs which gave us a clue about where to look and there it was! Very clever. TFTC
