My caulated cords were way off. Redoing the numbers had me 225 m away down a lane with Private property signs. With constant magpie swooping occurring I decided to abandon any further investigation.

Some rather neat investigative work by Swellerfungus resulted in some plans for a long overdue Bromance outing to Warwick and surrounds with the intention of locating a unique hidden piece of Queensland's history and placing a cache there. Unfortunately, the injury prone Fungus tore a ligament off the bone and required surgery. Then DeznJez's dodgy ankle flared up, leaving only the injury free and truly committed SeffnJarah and I to search for adventure around Warwick and Stanthorpe. After the night in Warwick, we hit the road early hoping to grab a sneaky hiking first to find at Little Bald Rock in Girraween. I have always driven past this cache when I have visited the area and this has later annoyed me as it is one of only a few remaining puzzles I haven't found around Stanthorpe. Seff had found it during the Mega, but humoured me when I decided to stop and clean up the map. I made short work of calculating the final coordinates. But finding the container took a lot longer. But both our phones bounced us around in about a 30 metre radius and after we searched all likely spots thoroughly, we expanded our search area. Seff found it so long ago, he could not offer any help as to where it might be. After a good 25 minutes or so, I eventually stumbled upon the container, when I walked on it. It was roughly where my phone averaged the final coordinates to be, though not in a particularly intuitive spot for a cacher to look.It has been quiet here (lol). Glad to show this lonely cache some love today. Many thanks Aussie Liahona Pete#7,947 at [07:27]

Going camping around Stanthorpe this weekend and picking up some caches along the way.
A really interesting bit of history here and sad to read about some of the ages of the residents.
Once the numbers were obtained, the GPS wouldn’t settle, so walked around in circles for a bit before finding the cache.

On my way to Bald Rock I had some time to cache along the way.
Four years since last I travelled this road.
Had time for a cemetery puzzle, imagine the isolation on these early settlers
Find number 29501 for me.
Thank you Aussie Liahona for hiding this geocache.

Back for another Easter on the Granite Belt for some bushwalking and geocaching. This was a nice little field puzzle so a fp for showing me this place. Tftc

08-Apr-23
We had the opportunity to spend Easter in Stanthorpe so took advantage of the days off to find some caches while we were here. I had worked this out online before coming but had a wander while we were here anyway. Cemeteries are such interesting places. Thanks for placing and maintaining this cache.

With the promise of another hot day in Warwick, decided we would head off to a cooler climate. Last week we turned left into Mt Lindsay Road and headed off to Woodenbong. Today, we decided to turn right and head down to Tenterfield.

I drove from Warwick to Liston, where we stopped for coffee and p**, before doing the driver swap so I could navigate. These days, I navigate and find while Mr D mostly keeps the air con working.

At the suggestion of a another cache, I tried using the internet to work out the information required, so I was a bit dubious as to whether I was going to the right spot, howeve, the coordinates were spot on. Don't know why but there are two containers but I signed both.

thanks Aussie Liahona for bringing me here

This was my first Mystery Cache and it was fun! Thanks!!

When we arrived we spotted the container (actually two containers) lying out in the open. We covered them with some sticks. Thanks for the cache

It’s never easy losing a watchman in the line of duty. Another life cut short. Another body up at small gods. At least I know her parents will get the pension that should have been hers.

Really enjoyed this area - beautiful parrots and trees thanks for sharing!

Wow, how neglected is this cemetery? Some headstones are still standing strong though.
Surveyors pegs and tape dot the area now so someone has an interest in this cemetery.
We tried to find the ‘furthest grave’ you mentioned but couldn’t.
With GZ now worked out we made our way there. Great coords led us straight to the cache. All is good here.

Thanks for the cache and showing is this piece of forgotten history.

15-Apr-21
Enjoyable little journey through time here. I couldn't eye off the last gravestone, but was willing to go bush to see it if I'd have spotted it.

Thanks for bringing me out here. Such a peaceful place to rest.

We visited the Stanthorpe area for three days and made the most of it by enjoying geocache hunting by bicycle and car, the landscape, the cooler temperatures and climbing Bold Rock. On our way to Bold Rock we took the short detour to the cemetery and it was so worth it. We collected the information neccessary to find the cache location and found the cache well. Thank you so much Aussie Liahona for showing us this place of remembrance, so very interesting and so embedded into nature.

Cheeky cache.

This old cemetery is something else. Wandered thru the long grass collecting numbers. Thing is, I didn’t read the perfectly clear instructions properly and couldn’t get the coords out A short time later I returned and looked at the description again, as the poor signal meant I couldn’t get a message to the CO. This time the error was evident Plugged in the new coords and took off to GZ. All good with this cache

Dropping a FAVE here for an awesome location and fun tour

Tftc Aussie Liahona, nice to get this unloved Cache especially as the pathtag was still there. Interesting place , info collected and after a bit of digging had cache in hand

15-Jan-19
Found the info we needed pretty quickly and entered it into the GPSr, then spent ages trying to locate the cache, found it finally in a place we had looked a dozen times, there was just a huge amount of added camo on it! Left a pathtag.

This was a great cache. We love old cemeteries and this certainly is that. We walked around and read/looked at all the headstones we could find. Thanks so much for bringing this to our attention. We would have missed the sign to the cemetery had it not been for this cache. Thank you.

Loved this gorgeous little cemetery and the drive into it. We walked around all the graves we could see and I have all the photos to prove it. Thanks for this great location.

Stanthorpe road trip with barbbowman and Miss14 and do we have some adventures planned!

Another of our caching targets today, I quite like visiting old cemeteries to see the history and stories of people long gone, plus we will have been caching in two states in one day. We parked the big blue truck and headed into the scrub. Whoa! That is not what I expected. It is quite creepy here, you don't realise how big this cemetery must be when you initially arrive, not until you start looking for the headstones. There were several white stakes marking the ground, we think this might be where gravestones once were.

We took our time looking for the required information and exploring the area and we soon had some good looking numbers. Aha! I think I know where we need to look...but it's definitely not in that gaping hole in the ground. Could this be the start of the zombie apocalypse? [xx(] We picked up the pace and with one eye over our shoulders, checked out our calculated GZ and found the cache. Yay! TFTC Aussie Liahona, it was an amazing place you brought us to Big Grin

16 of 32 caches found today.

Having successfully put to bed the newly published Winter series, #1 thru #10, it was time to spring into action & convert some more smilies around the local area.
Winter the Geo-cat was happy to continue, she loves caching days & long country drives. Smile

On arrival here we were a little confused as to where we should be.
After wasting a few minutes in stupefied silence the penny dropped (actually we READ the description & made ourselves familiar with where we should really be! LOL...) & we headed towards GZ.
A herd of cattle (ranging from an enormous bull down to small calves & numbering in the hundreds) were mooing, lowing & generally putting on a most vociferous welcoming display.
Then we realised they were anxious to get into the paddock on the opposite side of the track where farm hands were busy spreading bales of Lucerne hay.
I guess we weren't the focus of their (the cattle) attention after all?
Following the short track we came to a halt near some gates where local yokels were deep in conversation & blocking our progress with their vehicles parked across the track.
Mr VC figured the vehicles were parked to assist in herding the cattle from one paddock to another but I think the draw of the Lucerne hay would be enough.
With a casual glance in our direction they went back to their conversation ignoring us & the fact that we could not proceed.
Really!
I have always been a supporter of the fact that country folk were amongst the most friendly & helpful to be found but it would appear that either THEY didn't know that or I was supporting a MYTH! LOL …
As I was in a 4WD I opted to go off-trail & bypassed the temporary roadblock to be rewarded with a brief blank look, strange people indeed.
Perhaps it was taking them a while to process events today? Smile
We continued on to the designated parking & Mr VC went bush.
Mr VC really enjoyed tracking down the information needed for the final & reading the history carved in stone. Smile
There is something about old cemetries that brings on a mixture of awe, respect, admiration, wonder, curiosity … the list goes on!
It is a shame that so many of the resting places here are no more than overgrown depressions but I guess that's nature's way.
In possession of the necessary information, & several back-up photos, I returned in the direction of the vehicle to hear a male voice challenging Mrs VC about our presence here to which I called out a response of 'Back it up buddy!'
I then approached the vehicle in which were two of the rude locals from the earlier mentioned 'roadblock' & made enquiries regarding their interest in us, as the proverb goes 'Fair exchange is no robbery (or offence!)' & I can give as good as I get (or better). Smile
Not feeling the need to explain myself to these rude individuals I made a few general comments, dropped a few rural facts (from my early farming experiences) regarding the cattle, feeding & farming practices in general which seemed to distract these simple minded characters & build some kind of 'kinship' link. LOL ..
Wishing us well they went on their way leaving us to our own activities.

We calculated the final, retrieved the cache, made our mark & replaced as found.
All up a very interesting encounter & experience. Smile
A very interesting & informative location indeed!

TFTC Aussie Liahona Smile
A favourite point for the cache & it's build up, even the local encounter added another twist. Smile

Out caching today and this one that I found ... TNLN ... TFTC

30-Jun-18

Spent too much time on this one as we overlooked some basic information. Pa almost found the cache before we had the coordinates. A pity that this place has become so overgrown. Thank goodness for cachers who help keep the way clear.

Found my 2nd last new souvenir yesterday, so today Pa agreed to chauffeur me around. A few days ago we started the Mount Lindesay trail from the south, so what better thing to do today than attack it from the north while staying in Stanthorpe.
Again Pa was fantastic, suggesting even more caches than I had on my list. We were very successful with only 2 DNFs and 25 smilies. Even the DNFs may become smilies if the COs accepts my photos.
Thanks to all COs for placing these caches to add to the interest of our travels.
Logs were signed either as Smittengranny or as SG.

Wow..... I loved this cache and it's location. So much history in this small cemetery which seems to be being left to return to nature. We spent a wnile working out the cordinates and exploring the headstones before we found the cache. Thanks for sharing this place with us, this is what we love about geocaching. A favorite point from us.

thanks Aussie Liahona

What a great weekend, adventuring and caching in and around Stanthorpe with dahumbug. It was quite the tri-athlon, with walking tracks, bike tracks, water activities and all. A lot of these puzzles were started months and months ago. I'll admit I needed hints and/or nudges for quite a few of them! It is great to have such a variety of puzzles and terrain... my D/T grid is looking better by the minute!

I'd worked this out prior to arrival at GZ, which was lucky as it was pitch black darkness, and wandering around would have felt rather spooky I imagine! Razz
I still got to wander around in the dark for some time before we found the cache right where I'd thought I'd already looked. Hmmmm.... time to leave the cemetery?! I'm keen to return here in daylight, and might just do that on my way down to the mega at Easter. Thanks for this cache, Aussie Liahona. Smile

After a big day in Stanthorpe with Caro(Jess&Caro), I was adamant that she required a find in NSW to get the 2 states in day so we did a large detour and came out to this one late at night before heading north again. It was dark and raining and we missed a lot. Sounds like we missed a lot since there was 30FPs on this cache.

I will be back again to have a look at this place during daylight hours.

Thanks Aussie Liahona

So pleased Bluewattle and myself had the chance to visit this very old cemetery today as it has been on my to do list for quite some time. Visited all the headstones and gathered the required information then quickly did the sums before heading off for a nice quick find. I wonder how many other cemeteries like this are secluded in bush-land, well if there are any, I'm sure you'll find them Aussie Liahona, thanks and a favorite point from me Smile

I'm down in Stanthorpe and Tenterfield areas mainly to grab the final to some challenges we've completed.

Of course I couldn't come all this way and drive past all the other caches so I made a plan to grab caches along the route!

Geo Wife sent me off with her blessing as she thought she would slow me down.

This was a quaint little country cemetery and a very interesting walk down histories lane.

Thanks AL TFTC SL

Geez, Aussie Liahona - I'm beginning to think you love putting caches in old Cemeterys. Funny thing is we know people still living who have those names.

Nice little mystery didn't take too long to work it out.

Found at 11.15am on 9th December, 2015. TFTC.

Well I had done the keystroke work at home but when we got there we also did the legwork just to confirm my calculations and I am sure glad we did, always love the cemetery history you show us Aussie Liahona and this one gets a favourite point from me. TFTC

Had not planned to pass this area and had nothing loaded into the GPS. I snuck in a brief window of mobile data a little further north and downloaded the questions And wrote them down in case I lost reception which was just as well.
Turned off onto a well beaten and rough little track and parked. There are a few trees down but nothing that impedes access. Followed the trails and collected the info that lead me to the container, drained, signed and replaced. The log book dry inside the baggy.
Very interesting little spot, thanks for placing.

25-Apr-15
All but forgotten this cemetery, with fading headstone about to be consumed. A good place for a cache to mark the spot!

Day 2 of the return trip to Stanthorpe to collect the caches we couldn't find during the Mega weekend, due to lack of rain and too much rain, and to see off Team Robins on their epic adventure around Australia. Today the plan was to collect Stan's apples and a few other caches before heading off to Team Robins for an event to see them off on their adventure.

Thanks Aussie Liahona for the cache. Big Grin

I’m losing count of how many off the beaten track cemeteries I have visited due to placement of an AL cache. It’s a few, but they never fail to impress and this one was a gem… [^]

Sadly, Mrs Gunnie was not in tow to enjoy this one, but Ghostgums and I had a good wander around after securing the find and adding our names to the list. The surrounds and condition of the graves made for some good photos and the light was in a good position as well.

All in all, another top spot to visit and all a result of the game. A favourite point from me, for bringing this to our attention. Big Grin

Cheers Aussie Liahona

Making a return to the area to find a few caches that we didn't get to during the Mega in and around Stanthorpe. Down from Toowoomba with my usual non-geocaching caching partner...she loves coming with me and visiting out of the way places but has no desire to sign up and log her finds despite having found a few hundred!!! Slowly approached the area expecting to see a cemetery...momentarily confused by the sign pointing into the scrub until I spied something that might be able to help us. We followed the geotrails around collecting the info and could not find William Palmer anywhere...to compensate, however, we did find Patrick Gallagher Surprised. Anyway we crunched the numbers and came up with a likely spot and were rewarded with a find. What a fascinating spot...my friend said it was her favourite cache of all the ones she has done. A fav point from me. Thanks Aussie Liahona.

Today we did some post Mega caching finding 83 and 2 DNFs caches. Our aim today was to try and finish the caches on the eastern side of Stanthorpe to Tenterfield and return. We enjoyed the journey that the cache locations took us to. We loved to explore these cemetries as you can see the history of each town, nice work done on the headstones.

We appreciate the time and effort gone into placing and maintaining these caches for our enjoyment.

Today was the last day we were staying in Stanthorpe and we had made plans to go and visits some nearby waterfalls and Bald Rock.

On our way back to camp now and I just found myself asking firebreather03 "just one more?" Of course was the response. So here we are. Firebreather03 is not a big fan of cemeteries he visited the first headstone with me and then jumped back in the car. But my pen wasn't working, grrrrr! He bought another one out for me and he followed me around as went from grave to grave. We finally worked out the coords and headed off to final....well I thought it was the final. After realising I managed to have a complete brain fade when inputting the coords I was a long way out! Now with everything put right we headed to GZ. We had it right this time!! QLD Mega trip 2015 with Sol de Lune. On this almost 400km road trip we drove from Canberra to Stanthorpe caching in all the towns along the way with mostly great success. Around the Mega there were heaps of caches to be done including a few power trails. Despite the weather we got all of the planned caches done.

Day eleven took us back north to do more of the trails. We ere joined by Rapidlywild and SpecimenX for the morning. After a creative drive to get to our starting point we powered through all of the remaining animals by lunch. Then it was back to town to head our different ways. Sold De Lune and I headed out to the Bald rock road to do the remaining caches out that way. Thanks.

Yet another interesting cemetery you have brought us to Aussie Leahona. We saw the sign but even so, how did you find these graves? It must be your geocaching senses coming out. It was sad to read about the boys who died so young but I expect they would have been amazed to know that so many years later people are reading their headstones. TFTC.

Following the fun and games of the Qld Mega, our caching today took on a different focus. With Alansee and maccamob, we headed in a south easterly direction from Stanthorpe. To continue our conservation of log space in those horrible micro's, we signed as MAP. There was time to enjoy the scenery, visit the waterfalls, read the notes on the cache pages more carefully which gave us a greater appreciation of why caches have been placed in particular locations.
What an interesting location.

[u]Feedback to CO:[/u] Not sure what the Mystery/Puzzle component is regarding this placement - it's genre is that of a Multi!

Our thanks to Aussie Liahona for bringing us here.

We all had a number of unfound caches out in this area so teamed up in one car and headed out to grab them. A good day with all caches found......a total of about 120 for this part of the day.

Find #5159

Happy Easter!! sharkiefan and I decided to try and pick up as many of the Stans Apple puzzle series as we could today in between events. We had quite a big day, found lots of caches and thoroughly enjoyed the day. Found 16 Trads, 15 Mysteries, an event and of course the reason we are all here... A Mega!!

This cache was pretty cool, we initially drove past the start point and ended up at a gate and private Property. Drove back to the road and finally spotted one of the grave stones. An easy enough walk around this unloved Cemetery and the cache was found without any problems.

Thanks to Aussie Liahona for the cache. TNLN

Headed over the border to visit this puzzle as I had completed all the others in the area.
We followed all the clues and gathered our answers which lead us to a great little find.
I especially loved the heart shaped headstone in the little cemetery.
It took us a little to find and I nearly visited the neighbours when I realised I had walked past.
I could not see it for the horizontal sleeping giants laying along the track, but on my way back spotted a tell-tale sign.

After having our adventure to First Pyramid rained out on Saturday, Swellerfungs and I were determined to get a walk in today come rain hail or shine. Unfortunately the former was still in evidence this morning but as this cache was required for our 10 types in a day target we had no option but to go ahead. Walandor finally removed the thumbprint which has graced his forehead since the birth of his son and also joined us for our walk.Razz After completing the climb to the top it was time to head back to camp for a hot breakfast of bacon and eggs. Time enough however to grab this cache on the way past. We slowly drove along the track in waiting to see the cemetery we were after. It was only when Walandor's eagle eyes spotted a headstone hidden in the long grass that we knew we were at our destination. We quickly located the necessary information and Swellerfungus and I called out the information to Walandor whose brain went into meltdown with all the numbers being fired at him. With the numbers crunched we headed off to GZ for a successful find. An interesting area and I found it fascinating how all the headstones just seemed to be randomly scattered around.

Visited with swellerfungus and Seffnjarah today after walking up bald rock. What a cool cemetery. With a fungus yelling numbers at me the scribe while we were getting others I soon told him to shut up for a sec. I can only do one thing at a time. Soon had final and log signed. TFTC

Well, this one was a bit of an interesting stroll. After almost getting bogged at an earlier cache, we decided to leave the geovan out on the main road and walk in. We managed to totally miss the tombstones and almost end up at someones house. Turned back and then spotted them in the high grass.

Out and about with Roostaman and lgoody today. It was supposed to be a day up at Bald Rocks National Park today but the rain has put a hold on that plan. Luckily we had a few caches close by to do. Managed to grab this without getting too wet. But the car got a bit muddy getting out here. Probably not the best spot to take a motor home right now. Glad we were in a 4WD.
Thank you Aussie Liahona for placing this cache . Big Grin

[Blue]# 11658[/Blue] Found on our 2015 Winter escape trip at the Qld Mega town.
A slightly damp day today but still OK for caching with The Green Geckos.
We went out to an area we haven't been to this week.
We met up with Di Morgan at this point for a joint find.
Cheers from Wagga Wagga in the Riverina.
Thanks for the cache Aussie Liahona,

Out in the rain with Screma again today. What do you do when you're at a Mega event, find caches! Rain Hail or Shine! Smile

What a cool overgrown graveyard! Took the little GeoEco down the muddy trail into the jungle. Located the graves and gathered the info easily. Nicely played!

It was a rainy morning when we set out to find a few isolated caches. We headed out to the NSW border region & then back to via Sorm King Dam.
We had met Roostaman & Green Gecko on the road so completed this cache with them. The road into the cemetry by this stage was very wet & muddy.
Thanks for placing this cache Aussie Liahona

Day two of our Mega 2015 Stanthorpe adventure.
Today was our first real look at the event venue and the town, there was a sense of excitment with many cars zooming around Stanthorpe with the flags flying.
Thanks Aussie Liahona for your cache, which added to our fun.

At Stanthorpe for the Queensland Mega with Mistraluna and the Better Half.

Today we are doing caches in Stanthorpe and then down into NSW and back.

Found the cache without problems after collecting the required information to work out GZ.

Thanks Aussie Liahona for the cache.

Arrived in Queensland early yesterday morning and headed straight out here to Stanthorpe. Oh so many caches and only such a short time for us to find as many as we can, whilst still taking time out to catch up and socialise with all the other geocachers who are in town for the big event. Headed down into NSW today and stopped to grab this cache along the way. Interesting location. Thanks forbringing us here Aussie Liahona

Out and about with iluvtrekking on a jaunt between Stanthorpe and Tenterfield while attending the Mega. Beautiful countryside and although we had some showers during the day, it didn't impede on our caching. We love old cemeteries like this. Thanks for sharing this little bit of history Aussie Liahona,

We located the turn-off alright, but initially we drove right past the cemetery headstones. Oops!
The grass was a distraction was my excuse. Once we had discovered the very well camoflagued White, marble headstones, we walked around and collected the required information.
With some calculations made, we soon located the cache container.
Well worth an over the border visit to this cache. A favourite point from us too.

Found this multi on the way to Stanthorpe in preparation for the Mega, had a hiccup in my sums somewhere, but found the cache as weroamin retraced our steps to the headstones. I am really disappointed to see that this little cemetery is in such disarray.........I will write to the Tenterfield Council and voice my concerns and see if they can look after it better as there are many unnamed graves which are marked with a simple peg in the ground. TFTC and thanks for bringing me to this historic landmark.

It's great when caching takes you to places that you wouldn't ordinarily visit. A neglected cemetery, it's a real eye opener to see a headstone here, and another over there; in the bush. With the caravan in tow we wriggled in through the trees to the 'No Entry Gate'. Then, plying our way through the dense undergrowth, we parked right near the headstone for William Palmer. Now we thought that we answered all the questions correctly, but gerrynewgirl wanted to head off, way off in the bush; "it can't be down there I proclaimed"! Whilst I returned to the Troopie and Van, and delicately squeezed out through a couple of big old trees; rueing the fact that I may have driven over a grave site, gerrynewgirl used caching experience and came up with the bootie; right before my eyes; well done! Travelling around Australia in our Caravan with our cat.

Today we decided to visit Liston and Storm King Dam before heading to the Yumm Pi event. Cool

Fun in the sun!

Oh wow. we drove right past the car park and nearly ended up in the adjoining property. [B)] We backtracked and found the parking area. Then stumbled about in the long grass to find the info.

Cache was found in good condition once we reached the final GZ. Such a shame this area is not looked after.

Looking forward to meeting other geocachers at the next Australian Geocaching Mega event

Today marks our fifth and final day in Stanthorpe caching. We have had a great time tackling the local power trails and a number of local caches. We are extremely grateful for all the cache owners for placing the caches for us. Today we are headed around Applethorpe then out Liston Way.

We really enjoyed this cache (although we did miss the turnoff and the parking bay), we had the answers very quickly and soon had cache in hand.

Thankyou for the quick find and the cache. Found with Gummybear7

[font=Comic Sans MS]Hi there Aussie Liahona. We found your cache "Cemetery" at 10:47:00 AM today.
This was our 2nd cache find in a caching run of 2 Finds & 0 DNFs today. (So this now makes our find count 9451.)
[Blue]
Today's cache run was to add to our current streak of "Most Consecutive Days" cached. With this cache the total now stands at 215 Days. (This cache will also count towards our quest for "7 Souvenirs of August")

Thanks for not placing an eclipse tin or a 200ml Sistema here. For over ten years we have watched the quality of caches get steadily worse and worse. Once upon a time caches seemed to be "regular" sized, and well stocked with goodies for kids to swap. Nowadays it seems like every other cache is small and devoid anything to induce children to enjoy the hunt. It made us feel really good to find this cache in a "special" place.
[/Blue]
Coordinate Accuracy: Excellent. (We found the cache around 2m from where the GPS said we should be looking.)
Cache Condition: Container and log book are in good shape.
Took: Nothing.
Left: Smiley Badge.
Thanks for the hunt today,
Regards
Ian & Penny.
