Hi Hokiangler
This geocache was brought to my attention as being in need of an owner maintenance visit and after my previous reviewer note, there has been no owner response. The cache owner needs to check on this cache ASAP and either replace it or archive it, after picking up any geo-litter. See the [maintenance section of the Geocache Listing Requirements/Guidelines](http://www.geocaching.com/about/guidelines.aspx#listingmaintenance).
I've added this cache to my watchlist, and I will check back in four weeks to be sure that the maintenance has been done. In the meantime, I have temporarily disabled this listing. When the maintenance is completed, the owner can enable the listing by clicking on the link below the cache name to return it to active status.
Whatever your intentions, please **post a note** here on the cache page (not email) to let us know that you are still active and maintaining the cache. If a month passes without seeing a response, then I'll assume that this listing should be archived.
Please note, that if a cache is archived due to lack of owner maintenance, the cache is unable to be unarchived.

Roadtrip time, day 7.
I have used the Easter weekend combined with taking 4 days leave this week to get in a 9-day driving tour, hoping to get as far north as 90 mile beach in order to seek the recently published PWGT caches throughout Northland, as well as catch up with 4 different sets of friends.
I had spent last night at the campground in Waipu, and today was looking to head over to the west coast of Northland and then onto 90 Mile Beach. I didn't know it as I started my day, but by tonight I will only have gotten as far as Opononi after a very full days caching.
Very frustrating here. Parked up fine and had the place to myself, but with so many potential locations and a useless Hint this was not what I wanted from a D1.0
Either the Hint should be more helpful, or else the Difficulty needs to reflect that you may be here for a while searching lots of hiding locations within a 5m radius.

Café was closed (luckily). Little Mister’s eagle eyes found it easily. Little container was very wet inside
Tramyard and I headed up north on a roadtrip to find the Northland geotour caches. We would have been up this way last weekend if I wasn't completing a half-marathon for charity and tramyard wasn't at a competition.
We stayed near Opononi last night and were heading back to Auckland via the west coast. Today we were targeting high favourite caches and virtuals after completing the geotour caches up north.
Stopped by here and thankfully the cafe is closed, so we could search without muggles watching. This took awhile to find but a hint in a previous log helped narrow down the location as our GPS units were pointing us further afield.

We thought great, cache, coffee and cake. Didn't find the cache, and the cafe was shut!

Day seven of our 11 day binge trip we are signing as NNES. We are up North visiting our friend Gracie's GPS fun. We are having a wee road trip to the kauri trees together.
Yay school holidays! Time for a road trip with my friend Ethness. I flew from Christchurch to Wellington. The idea is to drive up to the top of the North Island and back. We planned the trip ages ago.
Thanks Hokiangler for placing this geocache 7808 find for me. Yay Gracie's GPS Fun has finally found it. A good time to visit is if the cafe is closed, less muggles then.
Sadly there was no large event in New Zealand in 2019 but there are a few Mega events planned in Australia. New Zealand will have another large event in 2020 in Auckland.

Nothing like walking around and having everyone in a cafe staring at you, super stealth required here. TFTC
A blue frown avenged. Lots of muggles here today, the hi-vis gang were on a roadie. Found while waiting for my coffee. TFTC
I thought I'd have another go at this one while I was passing. I looked at static maps last time after leaving gz and realised we had been hunting in the wrong area. The cafe was closed so I had time to hunt but found it relatively quickly. The dead branch holding it broke off so I reattached it to the drain pipe where it looks like it once was, TFTC
I had a quick look today but no luck finding this elusive cache. Interesting that one find recently goes against the grain for cachers before and afterwards who have had no luck finding it.
hi, checked this out after reading all the dnf logs. It sure is still in place. will see if I can adopt it.
Slightly confusing as to whether the cache was under this treeacross the road (and thus REALLY bad coordinates) Or right here. But some earlier found logs talked about here, so here is where we spent a lot of time getting nowhere. I would have said it was missing, but HMA seem to have found it. Grrr...
Today we had a trip from Kaitaia to Dargaville, thereby visiting many locations especially near Kauri forest and looking for caches, too. On this trip we searched, found and logged a lot of caches. The weather was good all day long, but it got more and more cloudy in the afternoon.
Almost no muggels observed us as they had other things to do than observing harmless geocachers.
Thanks to 'Hokiangler' for showing us this location and for the fun we had at 'Puriri Picnic. ( Hokianga) Northland'. The search we had here today didn't take too much time.
Greetings from Germany and hope to see you soon in the forest.

Out on a mission today, to collect as many caches as possible toward the Hidden Creatures souvenirs. With very few unfound local caches, a decent journey was required. Left at dawn and covered over 300km through the winding gravel back roads of Northland, passing through Twin Bridges, Donnelley's Crossing, Waipoua forest, Omapere, Opononi and Taheke, before the heavy rain finally set in. This heavy rain, combined with the sunset, put a halt to further searching, so had to settle in the end for 29 finds and 7 DNFs for the day.
More a DNL here. Pulled into the carpark and the GPS suggested it was in the gardens in front of me. With other café patrons around, the size being a micro and no hint to help, I wasn't comfortable rummaging in the gardens. Had a quick look in the tree, but didn't spot anything, before calling it quits and moving on. With a D rating of 1.0, I was hoping it may have been findable without a hint, but no. Thx anyway

DNF - 2nd attempt. My last attempt was when GZ was across the road. One day I'll come through and there will be no/few muggles and I'll find it.
10.35am - DAY 1 of 3. This is our first full day of caching in the Northland Region on this trip. Plan was to travel up from Dargaville through the forest to Kaikohe and stop when we needed sleep.
Sorry to say a lot of caches on our first leg were missing and a lot needed repairs done to them.
Would advise future cachers to check the DNF's before wasting lots of time trying to find these ones.
Trip took us to lakes, boulders, churches, cemetries and a great array of other locations.
The kilometres just seemed to flash by with food and drink stops sometimes missed.
Don't know how we ended up in Kaitaia for our night stop but woke up the motelier at some unusual hour for a bed. SLTFTC

With Gap (of Fap and Gap) and Mr Davidson (of Davidson clan). Signed most finds as BGH.
Visiting Northland for Easter... The plan for today was to head up the Kauri Coast to Hokianga Harbour , then skip across to the Pacific Coast until we were somewhere near Kaitaia. We really hope to make a big dent into several challenges we are working on...
Our coordinates pointed into the garden outside the cafe, so we decided to have a look. Right away, the strangest container was discovered in the undergrowth. Could this be the cache? Who knows... With a slight bit of improvisation, this was soon good to go. TFTC.

Pretty hard to be stealthy here. Maybe it's up high? Couldn't get a good look cause of all the people
My GPS was quite strange here?? It wanted me on the other side of the road.. Were the seats made of Puriri wood i wondered and then i saw!! the description really says it all if you only read it.The summer holiday this year was to visit the far North. We decided to take our time and travel with just short trips and stop over to visit friends/relatives rather than one big long drive through to Whangarei, so there was a little time allowed for geocaching, although this was fairly restricted. We planned a couple of longer stays at campsites where we used our tent and at other times we were at friends or cabins/motels. Some of the caches took us to a little out of the way places but these were really worthwhile, while others we discovered and visited and as luck would have it there was also a cache! The logging of these cache has had to wait until we got to relatives, on the whole.
This is a fairly generic log with additional notes about individual caches that had something extra that remained in my memory. I may have muddled some or even left some out but hopefully I have it right.

The cache seems to be on private property and we didn't feel happy about searching in the cafe garden.
My dad lives in Waimamaku and we pop up the 500kms to visit him now and then
This is the third year I've tried to find this cache and wha-la today was the day

After visiting the kauris we wanted to take a coffee in Opononi but the café at the i-site was closed. So we drived back and stopped here but meanwhile this café was also closed. So no coffee on the road today but time to find the box without spectators. Thanks.
Just read logs. GPS unit must have old co-ordinate as I loaded them a while ago. Will update and have another go.

Found next to tree, laying on ground. Mr S nearly stood on it before Mrs S spotted it. SL and put in possible hiding hole near ground and covered with rock.

Found with Redants while on our Far North Road Trip to the Winterless North. We found ourselves in some interesting places that we would not have visited had we not been searching for caches. Thanks to all the cache owners.
On our way back to Auckland we found this nice place. Greetings from Germany and tftc.
Now, we are close to the end of our stay in New Zealand. It has been a great time. We have been touring the Far North of the island during a week end with Karapo88, and on the way back, we stopped at Waipoua Forest to volunteer for a time. Consequently, when we have some free time, we use it for the different caches around. We already found the one around the lord of the forest, but not yet the other ones.
Today, with our host we go for the surroundings with the car. We have good views and the weather is fine. We saw some Pohutekawa growing on Dead Kauri stumps, and we helped an oak. Eventually, we stopped to a 4 square, and we realized that there is a cach jsut beside. We go for it quickly and find it. Once logged, we get back to the car and keep travelling.
Thanks for the cache.

Not sure whether we are 'cached out' for the day, but we could not find this one. Good ice cream stop though
Freezing rain and mud - had a good look in all the obvious places but no luck.
Finally located the well hidden cache then lingered to enjoy a morning tea stop at the local cafe, great coffee TFTC
Time for one last stop before heading home.... Morell's was shut by now, so dashed in to the 4Square for some veg (wow $3.50 for a big bag of capsicum!) but couldn't resist grabbing a pie Hey, it was my picinic "cover" for going across the road & sitting at the picnic bench under the Puriri Munched my pie while keeping an eye on many muggles across the way, calling in for saturday night "supplies".... then made an easy grab, as while sitting there I noticed the cache out in plain view! sat back down to sign & tried to tuck it back in it's spot securely. TFTC
Day 9 of our trip. Parked and grabbed. Got a nice icecream from over the road. All well with the cache. Was exposed but hid it a little better but still in sight. TFTC
Found with stairman1. I went across the road to grab my favourite iceacream, a jelly tip icecream . We had to wait for a muggle to leave before we grabbed the container. All in good order. TFTC
A few muggles near by so had to wait a few minutes before making the grab. Goldielover went across the road to grab a couple of ice creams for us as we out waited the muggles. Cache in great condition.

Today is the day to travel from Ohaeawai to Opononi to do the Golden Circle series and any other caches nearby.
It wasn't until my second time around the tree when I spotted the cache.
Cheers for the cache.
3.30pm. Hadn't been able to do this one when we passed by about 10 days ago as others were picnicing there. Today it was ours and after exploring most of the numerous nooks and crannies, common in Puriri's, we had it in hand.

Race was on between CHEC and MIG to see who was first to find this one. CHEC found it first but MIG put her in the right place
chec and mig both took off after this and while chec was distracted by an urgent call of nature, mig swept in for the kill.
Popped in and replaced missing cache for Hokiangler while driving past. All up and running again:)
Had a decent search pre-race ( Tane Mahuta Funrun) & again after, while picnicking on some yummy morsels from Morrel's. Nice to learn afterwards that I was not suffering blindness, as the cache is reported to be Missing. Will be back Thanks for the TXT!
