DK found this cache recently and gave directions to GZ, so I had to try again after my DNF. After a long hike up, I tried to follow their directions, but I still got nowhere. I finally realized that the directions where for coming from a different starting point. If you are coming up from the intersection of SH6 and Matakitaki Road, as you approach GZ, turn right uphill before the intersection. The first step is a lulu. TFTC.
Stop on our way to the west coast to do the skyline walk. Took a little while to spot the right approach. You should go over a little hill on the busg track side, in the direction of the ridge/open track side. Towards a fairly big beech tree. Then search around the base and you will find! Tftc fkr this one, still going strong!
While I was crawling around, a guy came by and told me which trees fit the hint. None were close to the trail. I never found the old fence, so no cache, too.
I have been eyeing up this hill for some time, and finally came for a walk! TFTC!!
I found this with geo Mum. We needed some exercise and this seemed like a good option. We just couldn't find it on the way to the top but searched again on the way back after looking at other comments on the location. Best to read the description. We were just about to give up when I spotted it. TFTC
Found - Mrs McMike2012 & I now live full-time in our caravan & travel the country visiting places we want to visit … we are now parked up at the NZMCA Campsite at Murchison for a couple of days, exploring in & around the local area … we decided to walk a couple of the local walking tracks to check out the scenery … and this track sure delivered … we thought it would be rude not to check out some caches … found with no issues, log signed & returned … pleased to add another 'smiley face' to the tally … TFTC ... TN:LN:SL ... #2,368 for us.
Beautiful day in Murch, like previous people we re-read the description and found it quickly. Lovely views, TFTC
Thanks for putting out this cache for woolwood9 and I to find????SL tm/ww NZ (may just be a black smudge on the many wet or plastic logs)Great geocaching holiday driving / walking around the area, we enjoyed the caches.Very nice to come back to the summit again.*We had to hunt for this one but fairly soon had another good cache located!*
Aaaahhhh, looked and looked, had picnic at the bench, went down again and read logs, but it wasn't until I read the description properly to know what I had to do.
Up again, hopping over as suggested and found the cache in the obvious spot well hidden but with a wet logbook.

This weekend was a solo mission to escape wet weather back home on the east coast.... Worked my way from Blenheim - Reefton - Greymouth - Rapahoe - Carters Beach/Westport and now heading home via Murchison. Was going to do this track on Friday on the way to the coast but it was pouring... so grabbing the opportunity today on a fine day. Track is wet but not too slippery. Grabbed this on the way back down... took a bit to work out which tree and from which angle I should approach but got there in the end. TFTC B&W
Found while geocaching with NZDi. Earlier in the week (actually yesterday) NZDi told me to sort out a days geocaching which didn't involve a long walk in the bush. My initial plan was a little over ambitious and involved a couple of short walks in the vicinity of Lake Rotoiti to mop up some new placements since we last cleaned the area out. Then go on to Lake Rotoroa and do the Braeburn Track to Murchison. Once in Murchison we would do the Skyline Walkway, and in between the various components we would pick up a few caches along the way.
Fortunately we realised this was a little ambitious and decided to drop the two short walks at the Lake but would do the rest. We could have probably done one of the Lake walks on the way home had we not spent too much time looking for a bunch of this CO's unfound and unmaintained caches, but I've already said enough about that.
This was the last part of our mission today, apart from maybe a few PnGs on the way home. NZDi noticed the track up the hill when we got the cache in the car park back in January and has had this other foursome on her radar ever since. Both c:geo and the Garmin were leading us on a series of never decreasing circles at GZ. I approached from one direction and NZDi the other, crossing a fence. It was her that found the cache.

Yep the wasps are still busy...took care and soon had log signed ..nice views along the track..thanks BW
Accessed this from the back to avoid the wasps. Two logs individually bagged. The older log had more room so signed that. Thanks for bringing us here bumandworker
Should have read the notes sooner, to avoid a bit of scratching. A wasp nest in the bank was a bit of a distraction. TFTC.
Its only getting hotter the higher we go at least there is a breeze had to dodge the wasps for a quick find tftc
It was time to go for a huff and puff walk up the Skyline Track. The day started off being nicely cloudy and a bit cool.
There was a nice view of the valley down the Buller River below Murchison.
Cheers for the cache.

3rd of 4 caches up here and after stepping up to one option I espies the cache at the other. Signed uin and secured a little better, nice one b&w.
For some reason I'd thought that this was a loop walkway, but we managed a respectable 40 minutes up - lots of sweating and heat, and then a perky 20 minutes back down. A decent enough walkway and well worth stopping off for to grab the proffered treasures.
Gotta love these long 3-day weekends, only happen a few times a year but always a chance to get out and about, and find some caches too. Todays effort involved me hosting daughter Livi as Mum is at work all day, so a trip to Murhison was mooted as a possible destination, and Livi was keen too. Headed off at around 8.30 and after navigating all those roadworks we got to Murch (after a couple of 'compulsory' stops, of course) just in time to grab lunch before we set off for a riverside walk, followed by a quick trip to the skyline. Even managed to grab a FTF on the way home after a fortuitous recent listing.

Awesome views in all directions, I really enjoyed the walk up here. Thanks for adding geocaches to the trail to turn it into a "must-do" .
Thank you to CO for the last log. Without this encouragement I may have given this one a miss. Glad I wasn't wearing shorts!
Checked cache, added spare log sheet. No sign of any wasp nest, just 3 feeding on the honey sap ignoring me.
Went to where we thought this cache was but found a wasp nest instead. Too many wasps to forage around too much.
See it has not been found since April.

We're visiting from Florida, USA. That was great fun. Thanks for placing the cache.
Found after a very random decision to head down this way for some caches and some other errands today. I had read the note about wasps so stood, watched and waited for a wee while before deciding it was all ok to proceed. TFTC #8071
There were quite a lot of wasps settling around this cache so take care. I was able to retrieve it without too much difficulty from them though.
Third hand info suggests one of the logs may be full...if heading up, please take a spare just in case. Cheers b&w
I thought it was about time that I made it to the top after three previous visits. A nice way to stretch the legs on a long drive.
Thanks bumandworker for the cache.

Didn't take long to track down the cache, especially with the hint. After doing the paperwork, I headed off to the nearby seat to remove my jersey (it was get warm) and to admire the view (and have a sit down) while StreetWalker replaced the cache. After several minutes, when he didn't join me at the seat, I realised he must have gone on to the other cache, so hurried off after him.
Saw him in the distance (one of the benefits of walking on the ridge) so hoped he would have the cache found and log book ready for signing by the time I reached him. TFTC.

#9115. It was nice walking along the ridge after the climb to the previous cache. TFTC.
Cruising to Takaka, had an hour or so to spare so decided to do the skyline. A really nice walkway, under shade most of the way. A quick find thanks.
Waitangi Weekend, off to Golden Bay for a spot of caching.
Thanks for the hide.

A really good leg stretch on the drive home to Nelson. Found the cache just as a massive rainshower opened up on us. No pen either! Good one, thanks.
This was fast up and down. Unfortunately some caches resisted quick solution. Thanks.
Drove down from Mot today to do some walks around Murchison. This was our second cache in this area and we enjoyed the walk and the scenery very much. Thank you for bringing us down this way and special thanks for placing this cache in this great place. This also gets a favourite from us.
On my way home also visited this nice little reserve and logged this cache. TFTC. Sherlock Hood.
Little finding but when we read the hint carefully we found it quickly. We also took the travel bug. We will put it into cache in Czech.
A quick easy find, and we were pleased to find the summit we were going to wasn’t the higher peak further along. TFTC
TFTC yep you caches out there well done as this is a great walk with views to match
Third find on this walk today, and quite happy to reach the summit. Great views of the valley from parts of this track. TFTC.
The Skyline Walk has been on my to-do list longer than I care to remember yet has never been done but today was the day. An enjoyable workout with fantastic views. I didn't realise where exactly we were until we took in the sights. Nice. TFTC
Made a bee line for the seat after the find for a wee rest and to drink in the view. A low overcast here today. Fog earlier that had lifted to low stratus so not as stunning as it could be. Now onward and upward to the track end.

Another fabulous view on a nice afternoon. Thanks for placing a cache up there, walking with a purpose...works for me.
WOW! what a walk. Certainly gets the heartrate going lol. Anyone who walks this far deserves a TB!

A quick find in the obvious spot. There were some DoC workers at a vehicle a short distance away, they didn't see me but their two dogs discovered me very quickly! Fortunately they were very friendly animals so no problems. Signed log, TFTC!
A very warm day for the walk but the views from along the top were worth it. Thanks for the encouragement to return to this nice walkway. TFTC
Found it during my kiwi traveling. TFTC :

The summit was not our summit. We walked to the next cache. Thanks for showing us this view
I have been up this track once before for another cache (which is still safe and sound). Back up again to get 3 more. This was the 2nd one. GPS point in the right direction and I could see where the cache probably was and it was. TFTC, Biggles.
We went on up to the seat at the top to see the views, then backtracked to find the cache. Mrs S was busy taking photos while SoBad found the cache - then handed it on as she usually does the paperwork.
He had also mentioned something about thinking there was another cache up here - but Mrs with the new GPS didn't see it on the screen and then we were taking photos and and oops ...... Looks like we will be back someday to see the Matakitaki River View!! Thanks.
